Bar area of the restaurant.

So.... There is a steady flow of customers into the restaurant which is great. The location is unfortunate because the mall is essentially closed, so you have to make it a point to come here. The restaurant has recently been renovated. It used to be a Hooters. A very nice job with the renovation, as the restaurant looks very nice! Our order included the Fried Grouper, Blackened Salmon and the Sweet Heat Florida Shrimp. The Sweet Heat Shrimp platter was good. Nit was well cooked and had a a nice flavor. It's there version of Bang Bang Shrimp. The Fried Flounder was well cooked. It didn't have much flavor (IMHO) but there were great sauces to dip the fish in. The Salmon was the star of our meal. Unfortunately, the Broccoli that was supposed to be well cooked was raw. We flagged the manager down and he got us a fresh set. Although the new broccoli was very well steamed, there was zero seasoning added. The restaurant has a lot of potential. The gentleman that I assume is the GM was very attentive and took action quickly. The employees didn't share their names, but these are little things they can work on. I don't know that we will be back, but it's worth a visit!

My fresh raw gulf oysters on the half shell were amazing. The side salad was just ok. Nice crispy iceberg lettuce. But the blue cheese dressing was watery. My husband loved his shrimp platter. Large, delicious shrimp, nice crispy fries, good hushpuppies and yummy slaw. We will go back soon!

I would wait until they work out the kinks. We ordered calamari, wine, and a house gin and tonic $8.50 when we sat down. They had no good gin. I ordered the only Chardonnay they had which was $11 (at 4:30, no happy hour) and they gave me at best 3 ounces. I watched the server talk to five people trying to make it right. Finally got a little more wine. Never received the calamari. Server said she didn't hear that request. Ordered flounder platter and it was the smallest two pieces of fish I've ever seen. The fries were cooked at too of a low temp so they were greasy and mushy. Mac and cheese was hot, but not very cheesy. Cole slaw was very good. Finally got the calamari which included a surprise piece of shrimp and two tiny pieces of clams in the mix. In fairness, server asked if we had any allergies. I can only assume they have separate fryers in the back. As we left the server ran outside with our credit card that she forgot to give me back. We will go back, but not for a while. Very nice remodel and decor.

Grouper behind fish, side of red beans and okra

A new place in town at the old Hooters location near Sanford mall. I was invited to give it a try with family. The place was busy on a Saturday afternoon with plenty of staff and great service as it has only been opened a few weeks now. The atmosphere is camp style and roomy with comfortable booths. I can't speak for the tables but the chairs are hard bottoms. Oh, what about the food? Well, in a nutshell, we were disappointed with the portions and taste. Prices were expected for this economy, but not over the top. What gets me is how restaurants including this one cut corners on the food and charge you 2 arms and two legs. For example, the appetizers such as the shrimp corn fritters had maybe a dice of shrimp, no corn, but cornmeal and lacked an appealing appearance, burnt looking fried balls, and they were tasteless for about 13$. The onion rings great flavor and fried well but had only one thin sliver of onion. Needless to say, paid about $9 for fried bread rings. The French fries included with the meal are not good either, cheap taste, not sure it's potatoes or something else. I tried the tackle box meal which came with fried little popcorn shrimp, tasty but don't believe menu mentioned they would be baby shrimp, the clams were tough and chewy and fries for $20. The grouper meal was blackened (seasoning over powered the fish but tasty) and came with 4 large blackened shrimp and two sides; had red beans and rice (no juicy bean sauce) was okay and a side of okra (maybe 10, nothing special about taste, fried we'll). Two kid meals popcorn shrimp and another meal with fish bites fried. The kids enjoyed their meals probably the best deal with a drink for $8.95. The grouper meal and tackle box meal pictures below. The menu had some interesting appetizers and would definitely try something different next time if I return. But honestly, I wasn't Hooked.

Recently I had dinner at Lighthouse Seafood Market & Cafe and it was my first time there, but…read moredefinitely not my last. Lighthouse is both a full seafood market and restaurant, giving you that fresh off the boat quality seafood cooked exactly how you like and served right to your table. I had the Blackened Grouper with broccoli and parsley red potatoes. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly, super juicy and incredibly fresh. The sides were just as good paired with the fish perfectly. I also had a tasty little side Caesar salad. The house Caesar dressing was great, lightly dressed so it didn't drown the romaine like some places do, and finished with grated parmesan and crunchy croutons. Overall, this was a great meal. The service was great, the food was excellent, and I would highly recommend checking them out.

Let's start with Morgan because WOW. If customer service had a Hall of Fame, she'd already have a statue out front. She was super nice, fast, on point, and somehow knew what we needed before we did. Shrimp & Grits: one bite and just sat there in silence and awe! Fried Shrimp Basket: Crispy like it just graduated from Crunch University. Not greasy, not heavy, golden perfection. These shrimp had more balance than my checking account and more flavor than most people's personalities. This place didn't just meet expectations--it body-slammed them! Highly recommend.

Standing OVATION for our waiter, Alexys (sorry if I misspelled her name)! She was incredibly kind, attentive, and very patient, which made our celebration feel extra special. And the Food was SOOO GREEEEEEEAAAAAAAT-delicious, fresh, and absolutely worth the visit. Everything came together to create a wonderful dining experience. We truly enjoyed our evening and would highly recommend Fish Bones-Lake Mary, FL. Especially for a special occasion.

If you're looking for a spot in Lake Mary that perfectly balances a high-end feel with a cozy,…read morewelcoming vibe, FishBones is it. I've visited a few times now, and it consistently delivers on both the atmosphere and the plate. The Atmosphere The layout here is fantastic. Unlike many restaurants that feel like one giant, noisy hall, FishBones is divided into multiple separate rooms. This makes the dining experience feel much more intimate, whether you're tucked into one of their comfortable booths or seated at a table. If you prefer the Florida breeze, their outside patio is beautiful and well-maintained--definitely the place to be for a sunset dinner. The Food The menu is solid, but there are a few absolute standouts you shouldn't miss: Appetizers: The Bang Bang Shrimp has just the right amount of kick, and the Grouper Bites are fresh, crispy, and perfect for sharing. The Perks: I love that dinner still includes the "classics"--you get a fresh salad and those addictive yeast rolls topped with melted cheese. Honestly, I could eat a basket of those rolls alone. Main Course: The Cedar Plank Salmon is the star of the show. It's smoky, flaky, and cooked to perfection. The Grand Finale Make sure you save room for dessert. The Strawberry Shortcake is massive and absolutely delicious--it's the perfect sweet note to end the meal.

The service was friendly and informative. If you're a newbie like me, you'll need to order at the counter first, then take a seat at one of the communal tables. They also have outdoor seating as well as a bar. I ordered fried okra and fried shrimp. Everything was hot and freshly prepared. It's been years since I've had fried okra and this side dish did not disappoint! Hubby ordered the fried grouper sandwich and fries. Everything tasty! The food arrived quickly. I'm not 100% positive, but the food seemed to be made from scratch, i.e no pre-frozen items. We enjoyed our meal and can't wait to return. Parking is curbside.

We visited with our dog and were able to sit at one of the couple outdoor tables. Despite this being a counter service restaurant, the service and friendliness were excellent from the owner and staff. Food came out hot and fresh and they continued to check on us throughout the meal. Our party ordered the mahi sandwich, the blackened shrimp caesar, the fried shrimp and the Current salad. Everything was fresh and well done but would highly recommend the fried shrimp. Love that they have that light dusted batter that's 90% shrimp and not too much breading. The salads were also good, though a little heavy on the dressing for our liking. Overall the Current Seafood Bar is a great addition to Sanford for a casual seafood lunch or dinner. I think the pricing fits the portion and quality of food and I will be back.

It was a Friday night and the restaurant was busy. It felt like others were also coming in for one last visit, which added a bittersweet feeling to the evening. I ordered a pina colada and a pineapple coconut martini. The drinks were perfect. Cold, smooth, and exactly what I remember. I will truly miss the drinks here. They have always been one of the highlights. For food, we ordered beef empanadas, coconut shrimp, and the honey butter crispy chicken sandwich. The empanadas were not quite as good as I remembered. The filling was more soupy than before and did not have the same bold flavor I used to enjoy. The coconut shrimp was solid and consistent. The chicken sandwich tasted like it may have been cooked slightly too long, making it a bit drier than expected. Service was great, especially considering how busy they were. The staff handled the crowd well and remained friendly and attentive throughout the night. While the food was not as memorable as it once was, the experience and the drinks reminded me why this place was special. It is always tough to see a longtime favorite close.
