What an amazing first time experience! Dropped my dog off next door at the vet and popped in to try this place. I NEVER do carry out but I had an appointment so I ordered some random classics & hit the road hopeful I would not be disappointed. My wife is straight out of Bayamon, PR so this place has to hit! I love the food and order A LOT as pickup, at least once a week, sometimes more. One time my order was messed up and took longer than expected but I was very understanding accidents happen. But it happened again tonight. I ordered the churrasco, white rice and beans. Didn't get the rice, beans are kind of pointless without the rice. So only churrasco is what we ate and the salad. The service was good, we were seated right away and a server was prompt in taking our drink order. She spoke little English but was trying and I spoke little Spanish but between the two we made it work. We ordered the fried plantains with skirt steak and the pork rinds as apps. The pork rinds are not the American pork rinds we have where it is mostly soft and some crispy. These were mostly crispy and some soft. But the flavor was good. The fried plantains were our favorite hands down. We both ordered the passionfruit sangria and it was quite refreshing and delicious. I ordered the snapper fillet with sweet plantains as a side and it was a lot of fish but very tasty. The sweet plantains were excellent! My hubs ordered pork chop chunks and the fried breadfruit. He said the breadfruit reminded him of yucca and had more flavor and less starch. The pork chop chunks though were too crispy and hard for him to eat. We ended up taking them home. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert but next time we come I'll definitely save room. The server was great and the place was in the bit noisy solids but not too bad. I started with a Passion fruit Mojito, anything passion fruit is a winner for me:) it was delicious and did what it was suppose to do. Ordered the Kan Kan, which a huge the fried Pork chop and the cut the fatty side to make it more crispy YUM! If you're on a healthy diet avoid this one lol. Of course I ordered it with Yuca, I will always choose Yuca when available. My job brought us here for lunch one day. The atmosphere was cute with pictures and decor authentic to Puerto Rico. There was good music playing in the background. We really felt like we were in Puerto Rico for the afternoon. We started off with an appetizer sampler. Everything was absolutely amazing. The bacalao, chicharron, fried cheese and yuca fries were 10/10. It was all so good I could've just munched on that the whole time. My main course was the skirt steak and arroz con gandules. I got a thin cut of steak which looked a little weird but once I bit into this steak I forgot about what it looked like. There was so much flavor and paired with the rice it was even better. The service was honestly horrendous. They took very long and they had really bad attitude. They were unorganized and just looked like they didn't wanna be there. We also waited 30 minutes to receive one appetizer and then had to ask how much longer the food would be in all of a sudden, the food came out immediately. We had to wait about 10 minutes before our server, Yuliana, even came to our table because she was busy talking with people at the bar instead of checking on her guests. From the beginning, she had an unfriendly attitude that made us feel unwelcome. After taking our order, Yuliana barely came back to our table. We had to ask other employees for drink refills and to place additional orders because our server was nowhere to be found. The food itself tasted good, but the mofongo was extremely disappointing. It was so watery that it was almost like a soup. We let Yuliana know about the issue, but she didn't offer to replace it, remove it from the bill, or do anything to make it right. Even though the dish was almost untouched because it was inedible, we were still charged for it. Overall, the poor customer service overshadowed what could have been a good meal. For my drink, I got tamarind juice. It was sweet, tart, and refreshing. For my entree, I got the stuffed shrimp mofongos. It was a huge potion and absolutely beautiful presentation. Nice Atmosphere, but Poor Service and No Professional Etiquette We visited Pal Campo Restaurant in Lake Mary on March 22, 2026 with a party of six. The cultural decor and live entertainment created a welcoming, authentic Puerto Rican vibe that felt like home but unfortunately, the experience from the minute we walked in did not match the atmosphere at all. The host at the front had zero personality and sat us without any warmth. After about 10 minutes, we actually had to walk back up to the front to ask for menus. The only bright spot was a gentleman who walked by and greeted us with such a great, friendly personality (we assumed he might be the owner). Right away, my aunt had ordered just plantains and a steak, but she didn't realize I had already ordered plenty of appetizers for the table. She politely asked the waitress if she could cancel her entrée since she wouldn't eat much. The waitress said no at first. My aunt replied nicely, No worries, it's okay. Moments later, the waitress came back in a rude tone and said the order was cancelled only because another table ordered the same dish then added, For the future, you can't do that here. The food was a big letdown too. All three Bistec Encebollado steaks were tough, chewy, and lacked flavor. I asked the manager to remove just the two barely touched ones from the bill . He first told me both were removed, but the receipt only showed one $18.99 steak comped. When I pointed it out, he got defensive, insisted both were taken off, then changed his story saying I only asked for one. He walked away mentioning he was calling the police. We waited over 30 minutes, and when I asked again, he repeated it escalating a simple billing issue and making our family dinner really uncomfortable. Officers did arrive and were very understanding, which further confirmed this was a civil matter. We paid the bill ( $250) and the manager asked us not to return. Honestly, we would never go back. The staff (host, waitress, and manager) showed no professional etiquette, and their rude attitudes fell far short of the warm Puerto Rican hospitality . The manager's JOSE JIMENEZ attitude throughout the interaction came across as egotistical and intimidating. Food, well if you're not Puerto Rican I'm sure you would say it's fantastic but being a Rican myself you tend to be more picky.... For me it wasn't the greatest tasting food but it was above good. Price wise is a bit steep, you do get a good portion for what you pay and the price is understandable due to its location and atmosphere... Absolutely HORRIBLE service and very rude staff . I had a large party of 10 so we expected to wait a bit . Got here and checked in and waited as they told us 45 minutes to sit. We waited the 45 and we went to check and they said another 10 minutes. We waited and the app said we were the next party. I go check and she says another 10 minutes as they sat ANOTHER party of 10 group that came in after us. Hello We were a party of 12 people celebrating a birthday for our mother 78, the restaurant did not allowed two balloons and a cake to sing happy birthday. This is the only restaurant that I have been that they don't allow to bring a cake and did not let us cut or eat the cake inside the restaurant or even boxes to cut it like we were going to leave the balloons there too, luckily we took some family pictures. If a restaurant does not allow these things very common for a birthday celebration they should have it in their website stated very clear for customers to decide if they are going to dine in that restaurant. Everything I ate here was scrumptious!! They even gave me a cup to take home! Ever since I heard about Pal Campo opening a new location in Lake Mary, I'd been dying with anticipation to try it! Growing up in Florida, I have had my fair share of Puerto Rican food over the years. It has become one of my favorite cuisines and is very near and dear to my heart. The restaurant was nice upon entering. Not what I thought it would look like from the outside for some reason, yet was pleasing. The highlight was definitely the starry sky ceiling. At times you could even see a shooting one flash by. My honey started off with their house beer. It came in a gianormous mug! The portions are big here, and I guess that includes beer as well. I sipped it, however, it wasn't my favorite. The taste seemed a bit watered to me. The appetizer I chose for us to sample was the Camarones Tostones Rellenos. (Fried Plantain cups with shrimp in them). These were average. The shrimp were cut up and in a sauce of sorts. To me, the flavors seemed muted. I definitely expected more of a punch. They were served with a side of the traditional PR mayo/ketchup sauce. I thought this was a bit of an odd match, but then deemed it essential after trying because made the app more palatable. Would I order these again? Probably not. As for my entrée, it was the absolute star of the night. I ordered the Churrasco (Skirt Steak) medium rare. It was excellently cooked. Being Churrasco on the grill, it had a splendid char. It was seasoned very well and the meat was tender. It was adorned with a delightful chimichurri that was true to the authentic style of chopped herbs, not the green pasty kind you tend to be served out some times. Let me just tell you, the rice and beans were divine!! The beans were marinating in what tasted like tomato and sofrito. It had a few pieces of a potato that was cut up in it and I only wished there were more! The white rice was plentiful, soft, and moist. My honey ordered the Fried Pork Chunks Mofongo. Pal writes on their menu how they get their pigs raised from a specialty farm in NC. It was unfortunate though how overcooked and dried out the pork was. Even if there was a difference to taste, you wouldn't have been able to appreciate it. So the worst part of my experience at Pal Campo was the service. I had read online in many reviews that people had horrible experiences as well. The fact we went right after work, 5:15pm on a Tuesday evening and there were all of two other tables that were seated, I really didn't give it a second thought. The woman at the host stand also ended up being our waitress. Everything started off alright, and then went downhill pretty quickly. My honey's 2nd beer seemed to have been forgotten about, much like how we felt. A waiter incorrectly tried to bring us one in a bottle beer which we should have accepted! I asked for this Garlic Sauce with my meal that I also read was amazing. I thought it would be perfect to dip my tostones in. Well it didn't make it, and then the waitress didn't come back for what seemed like forever. Not even to check and make sure everything was okay after receiving our food or if we needed anything else. I started to get annoyed because my tostones were getting cold. Then when she finally came back, I asked for two boxes and the bill because I knew we wouldn't see her again for a long time and we were ready to get home. She started to walk over to us on TWO separate occasions, with ONE box in her hand, and got distracted and walked the other way! The male waiter close by seemed way more attentive, so we asked him to get us our bill, in which he located her and brough her over. The service alone led to frustration and making for an undesirable ordeal. My review may come off to some as harsh, but as always, I simply share my honest opinion I'm entitled to with lovely pix for reference. Went here for my birthday and I had a cake and a balloon. Immediately the waiter told me and my family that we couldn't have the cake and balloon. Then proceeded to tell us we didn't have put them in our car and could just leave it on the table. Then the manager I'm assuming came by and told us we had to put it in our car because of the policy they had. Completely ruined my birthday and the plans we had for the night.
