I'm not from Lansing but was there for the weekend and wanted to explore some local places. Books store, cafe AND wine?! Let's go! It was pretty busy for a Sunday but not too crowded. People were browsing the books, studying or chatting with friends. The place definitely was a vibe and if I lived in the area, I would be a regular. They have something for everyone. Highly recommend

Update 11/26: honestly, this coffee shop has been the one thing keeping me going. I'm here probably 2-5 times a week trying to finish my grad apps and it is the only place I can get work done (vibe=incredible). Music is mixed but always enjoyable. Occasionally they throw in bad bunny which is fun. The pastries are incredible still. The tea is amazing, even if they did run out of chai today. The London fog was good, and a bit bitter but I liked the change from my regular chai. I understand that they've had a huge amount of demand, plus supply chain issues, so things run out. The service is normally great and always have awesome things. I've done the wine flight and loved the bold reds. Also really liked the charcuterie board (it was huge!!). I've had their cocktails and they were pretty large and have so many fun flavors. This shop is everything I needed and more. I'm so sad I'm leaving EL soon, because this is a once in a lifetime location.

Excellent coffee bar, wine selection and the books! So many great titles. Loved all of it

    Great wine selection

Favorite spot to study or grab a coffee and read a book. Food is good, wine is great, coffee is amazing. I've looked everywhere for a spot that compares to here but haven't found anything

Went there for the second time just a few days ago and I really like this place! I got a chai latte with oat milk and a tahini brownie and both were great. It really seems like the owners have made a nice space for the community! Love the bookstore in the back and the frequent book clubs/lectures/game nights they host. The only thing this place is missing is a few more comfortable chairs and maybe some cheaper drinks? I'll keep coming back!

Great music, great book options, and plenty of seating for people getting work done or catching up in this lovely coffee shop right by the university. And the cinnamon oat milk latte was delicious!

A very unique business! Probably best experienced on a rainy day and has a good selection of both brews (of the coffee kind) and books!

I made calls to multiple Record stores within the last 2 months prepping, planning on where I wanted to go. Schuler's seemed like the hidden gem no one goes to. I was told, along with several other people that they HONOR THE LINE. I showed up at 4am. I was second in line, made friends with the first and third in line who were also told they honor the line. at 8:45ish a man came out and took note of how many people wanted Taylor Swift only. I was hopeful I was getting my entire ISO and my oldest would get what they want to because again, 2nd in line. Doors open at 9am and the man who came out earlier announces free for all. At that point it became a safety issue, people running, pushing, hollering. I got everything I was after however they only had 1 copy of what Toby wanted and they sold out because of course. I called the grand rapids location, the GM was super nice, offered to send us the vinyl free if they had it in stock but sadly they had only gotten 1 as well and it sold out. I am so sad for my oldest because this was supposed to be a fun experience and because of one careless man, RSD has been forever tainted for us because I really don't want to risk sitting out from 4am-9am in the rain ever again just to be trampled on.

I usually walk around browsing there Books while sipping on my shake they do have tables an chairs if you prefer looking to order a slice of cheesecake. Being able to sit an eat in the stores cafe allows you to read a few pages outta your Book you got with you as well. The Customer Service is great here they always got folks working that know there Books they know exactly where to look for a title fast if asked which is Helpful. This B&N is as well connected to the Lansing Mall which is very convenient for shoppers an wanting to checkout another store or grab a bite to eat without having to leave an drive to another location. Like for example if its a rainy day or theres a snowstorm during the Winter you won't have to go outside nor drive to the next store. I highly recommend this Barnes & Noble Store to everyone living locally or that are just passing thru on the nearby Interstate.

One of the antiques is the fellow who works here who is certainly not someone you want to depend on if you're in a hurry. He is a sweet old man who always has the time for an impromptu chat about this or that and he has a vague idea where you might find that or this in this store. It's very cramped and difficult to walk through, let alone find anything specific in, but it's so very interesting. Inventory keeps piling in, quite literally, and I don't think I've ever used, literally, so appropriately. I found some openly racist anthropology ("South American Redskins") from the early 20th century, and some truly vintage racist (and racial) legal text from a little bit earlier ("People of color property issues" and yes, that's the origin of the allegedly open minded euphemism, segregation law), sheet music from the Roaring Twenties, Shakespeare annotated meticulously two generations ago by a theater professor, a photography coffee table book from Post-War (World War II) Japan - the era when my father met my mother in rebuilt Hiroshima. There's a fascinating cramped filing cabinet full of antique postcards and while I was there a Korean War veteran and his middle aged adult daughter found a WWII era post card that had been sent to a relative (penny stamp affixed) from Europe. If you're the sort of person who thinks that rummaging through a museum warehouse or a restricted archive would be fascinating or an antique book collector (either a collector of old books, or an old collector of books) this is a must-see one hour destination.

I thought this place would be a decent comic book store in the midst of the city of Lansing. The…read morereason I chose this store was that I had some comics that I wanted to be graded (getting your comic graded makes the comic that much more collectable) and they were the closest to me. After doing a bit of research on the place beforehand. I was fairly impressed that they've been in business so long and even after a death in the family the business was still running well. They even do Friday Night Magic nights. So after a nice long drive to Lansing. I arrived at the street it was on and my GPS had informed me that I passed it. Twice. There were no signs that I could see. I had to look at a bit closer to see that the store display had comic book memorabilia. I found a nice parking spot in the back and went up around to the front of the store. Come to find out that there are two stores that share the same place. A bookstore in the front part of the store and the comic store in the back. I really didn't have a problem with this except it looked like the book store had been closed for sometime. They did however have some pretty neat locally printed books and I bought them from a lady who had to be pulled from the back room. She was the one in charge of the book store part. So I went to the back and it was really weird. They had a broken down arcade machine against a wall, some random comic action figures against another wall, a few shelves with the new comic releases. At the counter they had various stuff. Mostly magic stuff. I talked with one of the workers and he looked over my comics and informed me there's two ways to grade my comics. The CGC (the main company that grades comics) had a backlog of over a year. But, there's another company that does it as well and it would only take a few weeks. I agreed upon that and they went to go ring me up. Two of the regulars there came up to look at my comics. They looked them over and one of them even picked them up saying that "It's defiantly not a 10" (Meaning that it isn't in the best condition) . They ran my debit card through and for 5 comics to be graded I was charged $90 and was told it would be ready in 2-3 weeks. This was back in August. So October I sent them a message asking why I haven't received a phone call as to the condition of my comics. I got no response. A few months later went by and I tried to get a hold of them on the phone # they have listed on there website. After numerous times trying to call I figured that the # they have listed isn't working or there # isn't what they posted. The reason why I'm giving them one star is that I still HAVE NOT received my comics. I have been contacted by them though through facebook only "Absolutely. I apologize again for the trouble!" So not only am I still out $90 I'm out my comics as well. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody
