Great environment to study or meet up with friends. The staff is friendly, the coffee is tasty, and the background music isn't overly loud.

hooked is such a welcoming place. it's cheery, full of ever-changing art, and has an amazing selection of local mrcrobrews. yes, beer. since there is always some music or white noise, this is a great place to meet with friends have a conversation without being "that loud person." the service is friendly, the tea is fab, and it's a feel-good place. oh wait - and lots of easy-to-reach power outlets and free wifi. yay! read more

This is a great place to grab some coffee and work! There is usually plenty of space during the week. There is two spaces on the ground floor and a cozy basement with plenty of plugs and table space to work on your laptop. The coffee is really good with plenty of caffeine to get me working! They also offer really good breakfast burritos and various baked good. I highly recommend this place. read more

This is the coolest local hangout! The Berries Go Wild smoothie is delicious. They have breakfast and baked goods, plus beer and wine. Very friendly service. Large booths for working. Popular spot. Highly recommend for a treat anytime of day. read more

I have to admit, I'm a little biased, as I've been coming to Hooked since the day they opened and have known the owners for years, but I LOVE this place! They took a chance and opened their shop on Colfax before it was cool to do so, and really helped point the neighborhood in the right direction. The ambience is great. Great little study spot on Colfax. The coffee is good, the breakfast burritos are great, and the pasties are made in house and absolutely delicious! Hooked has more of a Cap Hill than a City Park feel, just a bit of grunge-y while comfy cozy as well. The baristas/bakers are friendly and make for an outright lovely coffee-shop experience. read more

The small back patio is a great place to hang out on a summer morning. I love that they have the huge basement, even if i've yet to hang out down there. And It looks like they're expanding their selection of food, which will be nice. My only complaint is they don't score too high on the Americano litmus test, and really, I haven't been too wild about their normal coffee selections either, and they seem to charge 50 cents more for coffee than other places do. In the few years since my last review: Hooked on Colfax is now the closest coffee shop to my house, they've opened the other side which has helped with seating a lot, they've switched coffee roasters a few times, and they've started serving beer and liquor to go along with the coffee. The fact that I still go here sometimes despite having much cheaper coffee/beer a minute away at home is pretty impressive. Still five stars. read more

Apparently I am far too silly and dense for Hooked on Colfax. I feel the best resolution for myself and the owner is to take my silly, dense dollars elsewhere. I'm sure neither of us will be too broken up about it. In the mean time, I think I'll leave my yelp review for any other potential silly, dense patrons. read more

I am so in love with this coffee shop!! There's an amazing selection of interesting loose leaf teas along with a wide variety of other drinks like smoothies, alcohol, and coffee. I would give it 4.5 stars if that were an option. I stop in on my way to my "fabulous" job at NJH, often chosing to be late and get my morning beverage instead of being punctual and responsible. That's why it gets 4.5 stars because if the world revolved around me, this place would be open at 6:45 instead of 7 (cause responsible me is supposed to be at work at 7 or 7:07 if you play the time clock right). Anyway, the baristas are really nice, they make a great chai, and now they have their own version of the pumpkin spice latte (screw S-Bucks). Oh and they show their appreciation for us locals by offering a punch card and an extra espresso shot with your MyColfax Card. The staff is friendly and fast, and there is plenty of seating for hanging out with friends or doing some quiet studying. Great local coffee spot! Lots of treats in the pastry case and on the menu. I highly suggest the lattes and breakfast cookie. Line gets a bit long at times, however, the staff works quickly so it does not take long to be served. Also a good place to sit and work if needed (wifi!). It was a bit too cold outside when I went but they do have patio seating. I will definitely come back to this little gem. read more

This is a great spot where I choose to do a great deal of work. There are quieter spots in the basements and more lively spots on the main level with music. I love that they have an assortment of Colorado made products for sale as well. The coffee and drinks have always been delicious and the baristas are fun, energetic, genuine and quirky. I absolutely fell in love with this place and their chai, which is great by itself or in the coffee combination they serve. It's quiet, it's cute, it's artsy and sunny, but most importantly to me- never too crowded. This is pretty much the only coffee shop where I might actually bring my laptop and be able to study. Comfy couches to relax on and several different areas including a basement and outdoor patio to hang out in, depending on what you're looking for. read more

I wish I could reply directly to some other reviews here. Have we become so cheap that $5 for better coffee really is worth being such a jerk about? Go down the street and pay a little bit less for crappy burned beans and mass produced garbage. Hooked has great coffee, sourced from local fair trade roasters. Perhaps the real fault is that they care more about making good coffee than just getting customers in and out ASAP. The coffee is among the best in town. The pastries and breakfast sandwiches have good and great days, but rarely ever bad ones. The staff could sometimes be nicer, but that could be said anywhere. Don't complain about the price though. You get what you pay for. The attention to the quality of the coffee here is among the best in Denver. If you're cheap or in a hurry, there is certainly a McDonald's or Starbuck's somewhere along you're route. read more

I can't say enough good things about the staff, the eats, the coffee and the booze at this hip little joint. Well, it's not that little anymore since they expanded into the space next door (seating options are abundant) but it still feels quaint. Just frequented this venue for an Art Show (amazing Art) and I really enjoyed the feel of this place. At first I was a little skeptical about ordering an alcoholic beverage here, when I asked for the specialty the barista replied something to the tune of, "I can recommend coffee drinks." That would have been fine... if I asked for a coffee drink! Luckily the owner stepped in and saved the day by making some Manhattan's that were really, really good! You have to checkout the downstairs on both sides of the establishment - pretty cool. This place has a lot of potential and is off to a great start! read more

I happened to be in the neighborhood and walked into this shop to kill some time. The coffee was not bad but bitter.and not well balanced. The biggest surprise came when i was asked to sign a credit card on the touch screen and it had an automatic $3 tip. I was a little taken aback when I saw almost $7 coffee.Last time I had a $7 coffee was in the Swiis airport... Don't take me wrong some days I feel like giving a good tip, but I felt like it was too rude to automatically charge that... The music was so loud that it hurt my ears and was difficult to focus on anything be it conversation or reading... Definitely not my cup of coffee... read more

Guy at the front was nice. Coffee smelled amazing walking in. I ended up getting a monkey poo. It's a blended drink with chocolate protein powder nutty peanut butter banana and almond milk. Definitely recommend. Filled me up for lunch. Good size. Would come back here for sure. read more

This is place is awesome. The coffee is really good and they have a nice selection of pastries, burritos, and other light fare. They also have an impressive selection of teas. The staff is very friendly but sometimes the crowds can make the service slow. It's not a place to visit if you're in a hurry or want corporate coffe, but it is probably the best coffee in the area. read more
