The store wasn't very clean or well-organized; it felt a bit messy. We decided to buy some ham and were discussing our options while a staff member was waiting to cut what we wanted. Suddenly, a Hispanic lady came over and said, "Sorry, we're closed." We were all shocked, especially since another employee was actively helping us. She stopped everything and told us to come back tomorrow, which felt very disrespectful. It was an extremely frustrating experience, especially since we had already been there for over five minutes, and no one had mentioned the store was closing. This review is based on cleanliness. The seating area to eat at is ALWAYS FILTHY! The tables, floors and microwave. I complained to management and they said they don't have some one on staff to keep it clean and that they just pay someone to come in ONCE a day to clean. That makes NO SENSE AT ALL! I don't even feel comfortable going over there to eat. It's like the whole area is CONTAMINATED! I guess this is what happens when comanies are TOO CHEAP to pay someone to do a job! read more

We went here for our wrestling trip, and got chicken at the deli for after weigh ins. All I remember is me and my friends puking a whole lot of chicken. Multiple kids were puking and stuff, and some of them got sent home, don't eat here unless you want food poisoning. read more

This is an awesome Safeway location! The store is nice & new, the aisles are wide, the shelves are well stocked, the produce section is good, there is movie rental, the deli is large, hot soup, gas station, they sell Alaska souvenirs, an attached Starbucks, and there is even an eating area with fireplace. The deli has the normal sandwich, fried food, pasta salad stuff, and hot chinese food. The self service salad bar is fresh & has a lot of stuff to choose from (3 different kinds of lettuce, many toppings, etc). read more

Today me and my mom Came here to get stuff and. Decided to get cake pops, after we had checked out and went to our car we decided to eat our cake pops and my moms cake pop a MOlD IN IT!!! Nice big store, but that's all the good I can say. I does have very high prices, long lines right next to unused registers, and the membership system forgets my phone number more than I can believe (don't forget your card). The seafood and butcher shop is better down the street at Super Bear. Sometimes Safeway will have a few things I cannot find elsewhere, but otherwise I tend to stay away. read more

the store might be fine, but the road into it has a killer pothole that destroyed 2 tires on my car. As a tourist to Juneau I can't say I appreciated the experience. The total cost was close to $600 to replace the tires and to rent a car for a day. Apparently this has not just happened to me. Almost everyone knew about the treacherous hole and others had similar experiences. Safeway doesn't seem interested in fixing it. Guess I will stick to Fred Meyers next time. read more

Absolutely the best place to shop in Juneau. The grocery prices are comparable to the stuff in the lower 48. Make sure to buy things on sale. The clerks are usually pretty decent. Vicky is the best cashier by far, during the daytime. Her customer service is fantastic, getting you what you need if you forgot it, she always weighs my coffee correctly. Tonight my wife went to safeway to buy some Chinese food from the deli for our dinner after a long day of work. The employees in the deli were unbelievably rude to her. They were just starting to close the deli when she walks up. She stood there for over 2 minutes before saying to a deli employee "excuse me I'd like to order something" then the employee sighed and threw some random Chinese food into a box and slapped some random label on it and shoved it her way and said "here ya go" and the employee walked away. My wife was not asked what she would like to order, or how much of it she would like. Complete lack of respect for a customer. I am super disappointed in the way the deli employees treated her tonight. Because of this, we will not be returning. read more

VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE from a Safeway Manager! Complaint made on 10/1/15 @815 pm about Manager Virginia Zaguirre and Matthew Monnord (Spelling?) in Safeway on Vintage Blvd. Juneau, AK. Check complaint number 308-073-61 for more details. Virginia Zaguirre could not multi-task to ring my groceries that was on the counter while I was filling out a Western Union form which takes me less than a minute to fill. She tried to help the next customer, which she could not even assist, while my groceries was still on the counter. Long story short ... When advise her that she needs to multi-task, she tells me to calm down. I then tell her that I do not want to purchase the products anymore, and just do the Western Union since it was 15 minutes before the cut off time. She tells me to go to Fred Myers, another retail store, to do the Western Union. Although I told Virginia I need to do the Western Union tonight because my mom needs money urgently, she continued to refuse to do my Western Union transaction. Before this incident, Matthew was with Virginia behind the customer service desk. Matthew left to the office instead of assisting a line of customer waiting for assistance first. --- How can Virginia be a "manager" in a retail store who refuses to help a customer with guarantee sale, and what kind of "manager" tells a customer to go to another retail store? Safeway should not have managers like this. read more
