Hoopla in Fairway is my go to for all my beauty needs. Bobbie is my go-to girl for waxes, eyelash extensions, facials, peels, and eye brow coloring. I have tried looking for years all over town to find a clean, warm, professional and consistent salon and Hoopla is the one. It is my one stop shop for everything I need. Ran here over my lunch break to get a gel manicure. I liked that I could book online and that it's only two minutes from my office. I did not like paying $45 + $10 tip for what I consider a polish change and not a manicure. When I booked online it said the manicure would last 45 minutes and it was barely 30. I figured they would at least do a scrub or hand massage / lotion. I pay less than half of that price for the same "polish change" service 15 minutes away. I'm guessing the rent in the area has something to do with the pricing ... my nails ended up having bubbles in them so I don't think I will return. read more

I was really excited when the bride I was in a wedding with selected Hoopla for our bridesmaids outing the day before her wedding. I had been wanting to try them out since they are down the street from my house and I loved the concept of cleanliness and getting to keep the polish. The bride had made reservations for us well in advance and they knew it was a bridal party but when we arrived the customer service was flawed from the get go. The person checking us in was kind of put off by the large # of us and refused to let the bride get a gel manicure saying the manager had told her only standard manicures were allowed because they were so busy. She was so rude I figured maybe she didn't realize this was a special occasion and asked if maybe an exception could be made just for the bride... she quickly and rudely said no way. I figured maybe we would see a lot of other people come in while we were there but it was exactly the opposite. Literally one other person was there and they were so incredibly slow with our services we were there for over 2 hours so I can be sure it wasn't a rush of people coming in. In fact, after my mani/pedi was done the technician couldn't leave the place fast enough to go home. The nail techs were perfectly nice and I really love the atmosphere but I just can't justify spending so much for a mani/pedi especially since literally the next day my nails started to chip on both my fingers and toes. It was also very disappointing for the bride whose nails also were flawed and she had to try and figure out how to get a new manicure on her honeymoon... something that wouldn't have happened had they given her the gel manicure she needed and they clearly had time for! read more

While the service was friendly and welcoming, the actual manicure/pedicure was pretty awful. My cuticles were left basically untrimmed and 2 days later my nails are all chipped. I love the concept of a clean salon. Also love the idea of individual nail polish bottles. Such a great concept, but executed poorly. If only the talent of the manicurist matched their friendliness. The massage portion of the manicure/pedicure was excellent, but $80 dollars later - a hand and foot massage is not worth that. The cost of the service would be worth it if I left feeling like my nails looked good and had lasted more than 48 hrs. It is just incredibly expensive for a mediocre manicure. I can go down the street to another nail salon for less than half the price and leave with trimmed cuticles and a manicure that lasts at least a week. read more

Awesome place to get any service! Cute neighborhood. Gorgeous and relaxing interior. All white, very friendly staff. Very clean which is important in a spa! So many nail spas are filthy. They sell great products. I made a last minute appointment on a Friday afternoon. They were able to fit me in, I realized when I was there they do waxes so I was able to squeeze in a little later to get a wax. Very happy with my results. Very fair pricing. I am from Chicago and spas in Kansas City seem to be way more expensive for some reason... I've finally found a place I really like! read more

I've now been back to HOOPLA two more times for a manicure and a pedicure. Now, I know everyone's experiences are different, but every time I've been to HOOPLA, I've come away overly satisfied. My pedicure lasted weeks without so much as a chip, and I've had my manicure for 4 days and it's still perfect...and I'm a mom and use my hands CONSTANTLY. In fact, I even untied a knotted shoelace the evening of my manicure and it still looks amazing. I'll keep returning to HOOPLA and recommending it to friends. I went in for a pedicure and the staff did great on the service. However, when I went to pay I had a gift card, and the staff wouldn't accept it (they said it was expired, but the card clearly had printed on the back that it had no expiration and was good forever). Called them back later that day to see if I could follow up with a manager, and the next day they called back to say they had refunded the charge and everything was taken care of. I'd like to give five stars, but because of this issue, which was resolved, I'm giving 4. I'm happy with the way management worked to resolve the issue, although they should have honored the gift card in the first place! Would consider going back as they were very professional. read more

I was having a good experience here until some girl named Sarahi started speaking Spanish to another girl. She did nothing but talk poorly of her coworkers. She needs to be aware that people other than her know Spanish and she's making herself look extra ignorant. My first experience will be my last at this place solely because of her. For an upscale nail salon, I was not met with an upscale experience at Hoopla. The decor is nice enough, sure - very clean & modern - but I'm not going to pay such high prices just to sit in a cute little room (that isn't actually that comfortable), only to be met with disappointment. My nail technician was terribly unprofessional. About 10 minutes into the service I was oh so hopeful that she would just remain silent for the rest of my visit because I was truly uncomfortable. She was also scattered and unfocused. At first I was thinking that the televisions in this place would make for nice entertainment and down time while I had my nails all prettied up. But I would have preferred that the television not provide such distracting entertainment for the people who are supposed to be providing service. And it wasn't just the television that caught her attention - it was every other little thing going on in the shop. I can't remember the last time I felt so unimportant. Now, if my disappointment had stopped with just the service, fine. Maybe 3 stars, and I chalk it up to just 1 person and try again next time. Unfortunately the quality of the mani/pedi I received was just shameful. I had bubbles in my polish. No joke. And bubbles, to me, are the most awful way to ruin a mani/pedi. I've only experienced this at the cheapest of places, so I couldn't believe it, when after paying $60 (without tip), I walked out with disaster. Not only that, but after just a couple of days it was all chipping off my hands. I was almost thankful to have another excuse to just wipe it all clean and start anew. Next time, I'll save myself the discomfort, the poor results, and the expense, and go to a legitimate nail salon. This just isn't it. read more

Super clean, very slick and contemporary decor. I was impressed with the layout and design of this salon. It's a little different in that they make their own polishes, so the color choices are kind of limited. For example, I wanted a very light pink with some kind of shimmer and there was nothing like that. What I really liked was the cleanliness. Very, very sanitary and chemical-free, which is very important to me. I went on a Tuesday and it was so quiet- very empty. My tech didn't talk much but she was really efficient and thorough. I would definitely go back. It's a bit pricier than most pedicures I have had but that's because they give you the rest of your polish. read more

I got a shellac with french and it lasted me 3 weeks. Wow!

I am a positive person and usually let things roll off, but this was a terrible experience all around. I took my sister here for a birthday mani/pedi and because it's priced higher than most salons, I expected a better experience. The quality of service and quality of the mani/pedi itself was worth half of what I would usually pay, if that (I paid $150 for both). First of all, upon arriving, the front desk staff was cold and unwelcoming. My manicure smudged within a hour of leaving the salon (I asked if we should sit under dryers and was told we didn't need to since they used fast drying spray and was careful upon leaving not to touch anything). My nails started chipping two days later, without me doing anything labor intensive with my hands. Usual manicures last two weeks, this one lasted shorter than had I done it myself at home. I called the salon to see if they would fix it, and the front desk person who answered the phone was anything but friendly. They offered a 20% discount on (an inflated priced) polish change and that's it. In addition, I wasn't offered water, tea or any extra pampering that I would hope for when paying a pretty penny for a salon service. Lastly, the girls who did our services chimed in on the conversation we were having, which wasn't a huge deal in and of itself, but given everything else, felt a bit unprofessional. I have tried to give Hoopla the 2nd and 3rd chance...............First their pedicure chairs are uncomfortable and dangerous to get up and down from. The tile is slick and the Tech didn't even offer to dry the area ! My Shellac lasted 8-9 days. I even noticed she didn't get all the old Shellac color off ! She was more worried about her next appointment that was following me than giving me the proper care. She didn't once trim my cuticles , she just slapped the Shellac on and didn't allow the light to even turn off before she pulled my hand out to put another coat on. I wear gloves when I do house work. When I called to ask if they had any policy about the length the Shellac should last. Live out of town and needed a manicure. I had been to hoopla before and the service went great. I made a special trip out there and about 40 minutes after my manicure, I had a big chip in one of my nails. I called to see what they could do for me and the first response was that I could come back and buy a mini nail polish bottle for $10 and fix the chip myself. Totally unacceptable for a manicure that I paid $28 for! read more

I did not have a great first experience at Hoopla. I had my toes painted for a wedding on the beach and by the time I got to the beach it was peeling and wrinkled as if the polish had been old. I had to find a place in Florida to fix them before the wedding. For the price I expected them to last for at least a few weeks. read more

Such a cute place. I had 4 services done - pedi, eyebrows, massage, and tan. The pedi was ok. I am surprised at a place like this they didn't offer water especially when it was 100 degrees out. The eyebrow wax was great she did a good job. The massage was amazing. Unfortunately the tan was a disaster. I think this is a new service for them and I may have been a Guinea pig. They didn't use the dryer to dry the tan so I ended up rinsing the tan off 3 hrs later. Total waste of money. Not sure if I would go back. read more

Hoopla is an amazing experience! The polishes are adorable & you get to take it home with you. They autoclave all of their instruments and you get your own little packet of files that is used only on you....talk about clean! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I had a mani, pedi, and an eyebrow wax and felt like the nail ladies and the esthetician took their time and made sure everything was how i wanted it. I read the other review from jennifer and honestly think she is just impossible to please. if she went the first week it was open of course there were some "glitches" what new company doesn't have them? The prices are a little on the high end, but you do get to keep your polish so if you take that into consideration it evens out. I am with Claudia though, the pedi was $40 which is definitely the most expensive pedi i have ever had. However, the service and experience was great! I would most definitely recommend Hoopla to my friends, family, co-workers, strangers...to everyone! read more

I went for the first time ever ti Hoopla, and was pretty amazed with the services I got. The shop was very clean and nice. I walked in and was immediately greeted with a very friendly receptionist who right away ofer me a drink why I waited(because I was early). Then this very clean and well dressed girl with a great personality and very pretty smile came to greet me for my pedicure and shellac mani. First was the pedicure which was the best I have ever received(and trust me I have had many), the massage was great and she took her time to make it very relaxing and pleasant experience. Then was the shellac mani another great service as well, she went above and beyond to make sure my nails looked great and exactly what I wanted. The other young ladies working in the saloon that day came by and complimented and introduced themselves it was just a truly great experience and environment. I am a cosmetologist and owned my own shop a few years ago and I would be very proud and honored to have any of those young ladies working for me. My young lady this day was Britane' whom I would most defiantly recommend to anyone in the future as she is a very pleasant, sweet, young lady with a great personality and smile whom you can tell loves her job as it shows in the service she gives. I was not impressed with my experience. The salon is clean and bright, and the decor is really fresh and modern. My technician was very nice, but the seat was so uncomfortable, I could never really relax and enjoy the experience. Also, I didn't like a single one of their colors. I would have liked either a soft pearly shell pink or a deep rosey pink, and they didn't have either of these classic colors. I ended up choosing a coral color, but it was too Barbie-doll looking, so I went right home, removed it, and re-polished my own nails. It would have been more difficult to decide to remove the polish, except the job was not very good. There was polish on my skin, and the nail coverage was not as smooth and precise as I could achieve myself (and I'm not very good at it.) I might go back for a massage, but not for a pedicure. read more

I've been to Hoopla twice. The first visit wasn't fantastic. The young woman at the front desk was rude, but the pedicure and technicians were good enough to give the place another try. Unfortunately, the second try I gave them happened to be the day before my wedding day. The three women in the salon were unbelievably rude to me, my mom, and my sister-in-law. Our appointments were first thing on a Friday morning, and we were the only people in the shop the entire time. The three of us are the most easy-going, friendly people you could have for customers, yet the three Hoopla employees acted annoyed and like we were somehow inconveniencing them. I'm not sure either of the techs or the girl at the front desk ever spoke to us (other than to tell us where to sit), much less smiled or acted pleasant. We felt so un-welcomed, and awkward since we were there for a joyous occasion and walked into what felt like a salon serving up a really expensive silent treatment! My recommendation to others looking for a nail salon is to go somewhere that actually appreciates your business, especially if it's for a special occasion. read more

It is a cute concept and the nail ladies are nice and friendly. It was extremely over priced for what you get especially compared to what you pay for a mani/pedi anywhere else around town. Their moto of "good clean fun" falls short as they claim they autoclave the instruments yet the baggies they come in are not properly sealed because the instruments seem to not fit. The lack of jets didn't bother me because the tech does a good job at the massage. Overall it was ok, not worth the price and I've heard things that despite it being a "mom & pop shop" the owners aren't friendly or willing to help the customer. read more

I visited Hoopla yesterday I had been to Hoopla several times in the past and the experience was far better. Let me start by saying that the girls seem to do a good job my complaint is with what seems to be a lack of caring from managers/ owners. It was H-O-T HOT outside and when I stepped in I was hoping to get in the cool AC and get some relief well that was not the case. It was so hot in there and I asked my manicurist if she could turn down the temp in the salon. She said she wished she could, I noticed she like the other girls and customers were sweating and I asked if the AC was broken and if so had they called a repairman.. NOPE! She said the thermostat was locked and the owners/manager had the key NONE of which were there for the day. So I proceeded to sweat and be uncomfortable for the remainder of my visit at the end of which I headed to the restroom and happened to notice the thermostat on the wall near the bathroom sure enough it was locked and on hold at almost 80!!! These managers and owners should stop pinching pennies to such an extreme that customers like me are having to suffer. You would think for what I paid I could have enjoyed some AC. I also noticed and heard other clients complain of the fact the services seemed to be cut short. Quickly into my appointment time my girl was told her next customer was there and that she was running late which forced her to have no choice but rush. I have no idea how she could've been running late it had hardly been anytime at all since we had started and then left me with less appointment time and getting a little screwed on my massage I don't blame her though, between how fast they want them to work (which is not how I remember things in the past) and how hot it was in there it was like they are running some kind of sweat shop.
