Hoover Dam, one of the greatest dams in the US. It is definitely a must visit place when tourists are in Nevada and Arizona. The dam is a concrete arch-gravity architecture in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. It is amazingly huge and magnificent. The tour is informative and interesting and helps us understand the history and layout of the dam.

WOW what a great site to see! Amazing views and please do not miss the Bridge!!! I would recommend getting there as early as possible so you and your family can have this place all to yourself like I did. Also if you want to park for free, park on the Arizona side, it literally makes no sense to paid 10 bucks just to park on the other side (Nevada) As of this typing the inside tour is shut down but regardless this is a structure that should not be missed!

Hoover Dam, what an amazing piece of construction it's a modern marvel how it was built In that era. The visitor center was closed to the public do to the pandemic but don't let that stop you. You can still walk to the other side which is Arizona. A great photo opportunity to take a picture standing in two states at once. Parking was reasonable and they have a elevator that goes from the 4th floor I believe to the damn from the parking structure. Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated.

I had been to the dam quite a few years ago but my wife had not so we took the short drive from Boulder City to the Hoover dam on a Saturday morning in mid-January. We had read other reviews where others commented on the amount of time it took to arrive at the dam due to traffic and congestion. Luckily, we did not experience any of that! The flow of cars from the main highway to the dam was not backed up and we were able to park easily. We followed the directional signs for the tours and went through the security area. We asked about the tour times and were told the power plant tour occurred every 15 minutes but that the next full dam tour was in two hours. We thought about it and decided this was likely the only time we would do the tour and thought it would be best to do the full dam tour. We purchased the tickets and explored the various areas of the dam including the 10 minute video, the observation deck, we walked about half way to 2/3 of the width of the dam, looked at the exhibits, grabbed a drink at the cafe and stopped into the gift shop to buy a magnet and dropped coats off at the car. We felt like this allowed us to see all the areas of the dam prior to the tour and worked out just fine, 2 hours outside of whichever dam tour you chose seems to be just right. However, if you want to walk up to the new bypass bridge or across it you would need more time. We arrived at the tour location about 10 minutes early and they ran through some basic information before our tour guide Court (unsure of spelling) invited us to join him. We looked out the floor to ceiling windows and he gave us some dam details and pointed out one of the shield shaped vents within the dam wall and told us that we would be soon standing in that tunnel 54 stories down! I won't give all the various details of the tour so you can experience the information first hand. We would highly recommend the full tour but if you are pressed for time the power plant tour (which is the first half of the full tour) is cool too! Thanks to Court for a great tour, he was funny and informative and invited questions. You can tell he enjoys what he does! To think of all the blood, sweat and tears that went into planning and constructing this piece of America is truly incredible!

After all of the years going to the dam I have done the tour 2 times and both very far apart from each other, Some friends from another country came and I thought this would be very interesting for them to see, There is so much history here and being able to go inside and do a tour was even more amazing to see you start first with a Video that is informative about the dam so you have more of a idea of what your going to see when you go inside, It is not only amazing to see how they work inside here every day but to know how long ago it was built and how it works, I think this is very educational for kids to see as well! We have enjoyed coming here it can be very expensive for a whole family but if your into some history and want to see inside of the dam it is worth doing. Take lots of pictures to show your friends!!

Usually I prefer to visit most of spots without any guides or tours or something like that. But I was really interested in the history of that huuuuge Dam! It is amazing! Just try to remember in how many films did you see this unbelievable construction? So I liked this tour. I didn't like only that I have to pay for it :) and also there are too many people sometimes. Mouse will definitely go to this Hoover Dam one more time ;)

I went here a few years back and it was an interesting and scenic visit. While there I was taken in by the beautiful view, the Big fish below me and the thought of how many people spent years creating this wonder.

If you have never been to Hoover Dam and you are gonna do the tour, might as well do the 30 dollar one. Here's the breakdown: Visitor Center Admission - $8 for all ages. 3 and under free. Power Plant Tour - $11 for all ages. Senior/Junior/Military - $9. 3 and under free. Dam Tour - $30. Power Plant Tour +2 extra stops in the dam. Yes, 3 and under free. Why I recommend the 30 dollar one is because everything is included. Not only do you have access to the Visitor Center and Power Plant Tour, but you break off from the regular group and go even deeper into the dam. When you go down the winding corridors and hallways, your tour guide will tell you a whole boatload of facts and rich history that translates into a lot of great stories. What stuck out to me was that officially, 96 people died on the work site. Unofficially, about 140. Our tour guide explained that if you didn't die at the work site, it wasn't considered an official death. So if you got sick and died in the hospital or at home, it wasn't official and you were not awarded any benefits. This sounded kind of morbid but hay, it actually happened and those were the rules set forth. Besides the dialogue, I asked some questions. Like when I read how the Great Wall of China was built that they buried the workers that died inside the actual wall. Likewise, my question applied to the dam. I got a big fat "NO!". Then I asked were there any paranormal activities, ghost sightings or just any overall weird happenings. Again, the answer was no. Lastly, Megatron was not the reason they built the dam. Although you gotta give them props for doing that considering how they fit it in the timeline of the movie. Overall, I was genuinely impressed and at the same time overwhelmed by the info and history of this marvel. The only thing that took the one star away was that our tour guide was lame. Yes he knew what he was talking about and guided us safely. It was his monotone voice and overall attitude like it was just a job to him. I actually had to crack jokes and make some funny remarks just to get some life out of our group. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him to get fired, thus not mentioning his name, but at least be more outgoing and be attentive to your group.

The Dam tour was surprisingly damn good! The only reason I went on this tour was because the bf kept bugging me about it. He's a typical guy..amazed by how things are built...blah blah. I really didn't care much. I was fine with just driving there, taking a few pictures. But I played along and agreed to check out one of the "7 Wonders of the World." We were greeted by a very knowledgeable and animated tour guide that opened with, "Hello I'm your Dam guide." :) The first portion of the tour full 1 hour guided tour was the Powerplant tour. They briefly go over how the dam works and see the generators--that part was okay. All the good stuff happened during the last 30 min where you really got to go deep into the damn and see how it was built, the cracks that were made and really hear the history behind it all. *Tips* -Get there EARLY!!! Parking lot opens up a little after 8 and the tour office opens at 9. Tours fill up really quick. -DO NOT go on the tour if you are claustrophobic! The small tunnels and stale air can definitely make you anxious. -I suggest going on the FULL guided tour--not just the Powerplant tour. -Wear shoes--it gets a little slippery in the tunnel area.

AWESOME TOUR and experience, but shorter than the tour we took in 1991 that would take you to the base of the dam. That tour is available with a background check by the Bureau of Reclamation and a 6 week lead time in the tourist season. We took the 30 min power plant tour and got a military discount since we're veterans -- NICE!! We had a nice time on the very interesting and educational tour with 75 of our closest friends, then got a nice view of the dam from the overlook :) The tour comes with free admission to the cool interactive exhibits where the experiences of the men who worked to build the dam came alive!! WELL WORTH THE COST AND THE TRIP FROM VEGAS

I went there last year with my friends, it's quite amazing how the dam was built, go there and appreciate it more and to see how genius human being can be without the dam, California, Nevada, will be in flood

Hoover dam is in a cute and quaint little town of Boulder City. The town has remaining houses they originally built to house the dam workers. So much to see here- so much history

This was definitely a quick little pitstop and was very enjoyable, driving from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon we decided to pass through here because my father used to bring us here when I was little. I didn't remember it until this time I came with my family at all came back. I appreciate my father for giving us the opportunity to travel and see things that not everybody has been able to. We got to experience this little gem with my little Family. Everybody enjoyed it we spent a couple hours there and continued on our way to the Grand Canyon. It was breathtaking the pictures we took were amazing also.

We were told that the raft could hold about 32 people, but we were lucky because on tour we had a total of 17, which was nice. We were also given a bag with snacks and a bottle of water, which was great to snack on during the tour. We met our driver at the Hoover Dam lodge. There was a lot of parking available, which made it easy. Our driver was super friendly and very informative. He took us to the raft to meet our tour guide. Our tour guide wasn't welcoming to my husband and I, but as other guests loaded onto the raft, his attitude changed. As we started the tour we stayed at the same spot for 30 minutes. Our guide passed out pictures in sheet protectors and began sharing about the history of the Hoover dam. Throughout the tour, our guide was testing us about our history. We didn't know much of it, that's why we attended the tour to learn. The best part of the tour was us getting out of the raft and landing on a piece of land to touch the water and skip rocks and take more photos. It was nice to see a few mini waterfalls and even a hot spring! I did wished we went deeper into the dam, but I guess that would've been for the longer tour. Also, I wish we could've swam in the lake, but it was very chilly. It was a great experience, however, the initial encounter with our guide was uncomfortable. We learned a lot and the views were amazing.

This experience was unforgettable from start to finish in their 165 acre property. We kicked off the day with a short ride on Jafar, a stunning, gentle giant weighing nearly 3,000 pounds. ( love at first sight) After taking some amazing photos with him, he happily stayed nearby and spent the rest of the day with us. From there, we met several other camels and hopped on the tram, where more adventures were to be had . Along the way, we encountered so many incredible animals, more camels, a zedonk, llamas, alpacas, and miniature horses. One of the highlights was feeding Thorn, their adorable pet porcupine, grapes she was just the sweetest little girl. We also got to see New Guinea singing dogs (so cute!) and Ambien, their 20-year-old sloth, who was just as amazing to see in person as you'd imagine. Feeding the alpacas and llamas carrots was such a fun, hands-on experience. As if that wasn't enough, four friendly Ridgeback dogs casually joined us on the tram, roaming freely and adding even more charm to the day. Every animal we encountered was gentle, well cared for and clearly loved . I truly can't say enough wonderful things about this experience it was pure joy from beginning to end. If you've never met a camel, Ilama, or alpaca, you're missing out. These gentle creatures will absolutely fill your heart. I'm already looking forward to going back again soon. We were amazed by how up close and personal we could get with the camels and the other animals. The safari tram tour was informative and much more engaging than anticipated as well. We had plenty of opportunities to see the animals in a natural, spacious environment. The friendly staff were also incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the animals in their care. They shared interesting facts about the area and the animals throughout the tour that made the experience both fun and educational. This was far better than your average zoo... it felt much more interactive and authentic. One of the biggest highlights is the location itself. It truly feels like a backcountry adventure, and it's hard to believe you're such a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip. We also did the UTV tour, which took us down to the Virgin River and deeper into the surrounding desert landscape. The scenery was stunning, and I couldn't believe we had just been in the middle of Vegas. What a great experience!
