Such an amazing experience and opportunity. A definite challenge but very rewarding. The process overall at the lodge is quick and effortless. The person who helped us and got us setup was Jamaica, she was a fantastic host and gave us all the needed information before the trek. Her hospitality was very appreciated and her greeting us when we ended was icing on the top. Also...probably one of the best drivers you will come across. I would be down to do this again, we were able to see a lot and still left some on the table. I would choose a few specific stops on your first trip so you are not rushing in time. We made good time but knew we couldn't mosey along. The first 4 miles is the biggest challenge, after that you just get into the rhythm and cruise. Bring plenty of fluids. The kayaks have spots for carrying a good amount of water and food, to include some bungees on the front for tie down. Water shoes I would recommend with good grip. Had a great half day tour with Nico. She was informative, patient, encouraging, and fun! She took candid photos as well as a group photo of us all in the cave! She made sure we had snacks and water during our stop at the beach. This was a Mother's Day gift for my mom who is active and healthy, but a litter older than they average adventurer and Nico never made her feel bad about needing a little extra time but also kept her on pace. It was such a fun experience. Emerald Cave was crowded but we went on a Saturday so that was to be expected. We start our journey on the backside of the Hoover Dam. Tour Guide Jeff takes us to a hot springs cave where the water in some areas is over 100*F. It was a bit tricky to climb up, but he's very helpful in guiding us up the hike. Also he took us to a natural waterfall with hot springs called Gold Strike Hot Springs. Absolutely stunning. The company provides lunch, snacks and plenty of water along the way. Meet time is 6am, launch times 630-7am. They offer 12ft single kayak or a 2 seater tandem. Enjoyed a wonderful day of kayaking with Lauren. We went on a 3 hour tour on the Colorado River. Lauren was so helpful and made sure she had us all looking at the most amazing tunnels and the most interesting things about everything. What a great time she has such a great sense of humor and really wants everyone to learn about this magnificent place. We did the half day black canyon kayak tour that included a visit to emerald cove. The day before our tour we had a very detailed WhatsApp message from Jamaika which included pictures and details of where to go for our pickup. This communication was SO very welcome as not all tour operators were as helpful. Thank you Jamaika for making this so easy! We were picked up by our tour guide (apologies, I didn't save your name!) who was great and allowed us to enjoy the tour at our pace. We stopped off and did a little hike to see the beautiful views and learn some facts about the area. We then went onto the Emerald cove which had a queue of around 20mins. It's a tiny space and what you see in the pictures online is all of the cave, not a small part as I thought it may be. I'm glad we did the cave part but if the queues are too long and you don't want to wait, you aren't missing out on much. It was hot and windy which made it tough to paddle back to the start, but it was super fun and the cool wind and icy water was a very welcome relief from that heat! We had a great day! A friend told me she had been eyeing this tour. It looked beautiful so we decided to book it when we were in the Vegas area. We did the half day tour. The scenery was gorgeous. The green, clear water color blew me away. If you saw pictures of Emerald Cave glowing, know that that only happens at a specific time of day so there's a good chance you won't see it exactly like that but it's still beautiful. During peak times, apparently there are huge lines to get into Emerald Cave, but we were the first group there at the end of October so we didn't have to wait. I thought the tour was too slow paced personally. They allow all skill levels and take it really slow because of that. The water is very flat and calm. I feel this way about most kayak tours though. I'd rather just rent a kayak and do it on my own, but that's not an option at some places. All in all, I'm still glad we did it and I think it's worth doing. If you have your own kayak (or a way of renting a kayak and getting it to Willow Beach), I'd go the do it yourself route. read more

If, only if I can put more stars to Blazin' Paddles, I definitely would add at least two more. My first tour with Blazin' Paddles was half day tour starting at 9am. We drove to the Colorado River in one car to save some entrance fee, and the latest one was "Twilight Paddle". In the later one, we meet our guide Chris at the Blazin' Paddles at 4:15pm. We signed our lives away at their Kiosk, and Chris drove us to the departing location. Chris demonstrates the basic and fundamental techniques, such as how to properly use paddle, how to change the directions, and how to enjoy the darkness when Sun goes down. By the time stars shines, we were the only ones out in the river besides the true residents, birds, bats, ducks and green lives. During our kayaking, we stopped twice. First to observe the historic sights, and to hike briefly. Second for campfires for hotdogs and s'mores. The conversation was light and adventurous, the informations Chris shared were educational and eye opening. There was such a deep and precious silence around us. Absolutely magical experience. I myself get cold easily, so prepared waterproof and thermal layers. Blazzin' Paddle provides everything from Kayak, snacks, water, all camping goodies for hotdogs and s'mores. First of all, Cindi is the best! She responds to text messages right away and includes detailed pictures of how to find shuttle pick-up areas from your hotel on the strip. Seth picked us up via shuttle from our hotel on time, along with another couple and we headed about 40 miles out towards the Black Canyons of the Colorado river. When we got to our destination, first it's a beautiful view, second, Seth walked us through kayaking basics and seconds later, we were in the water enjoying spectacular views. I'm a local and did this kayak 1/2 day tour with a friend of mine. Since we were already in town we only had to meet at their office, nice and convenient. It was a lot of fun doing something like this in your own town. You get to see lots of wildlife and beautiful views. The guides are super helpful with every step of the way and don't be afraid to ask for help. They provide you more than enough water and snacks during the entire trip. There are a few snack breaks and stops on the way to the cave and back. There are no bathrooms out in the river, so hold it or jump in!!! Kayaking is an excellent upper body workout so be prepared to work. If you get too hot, the water is nice and cold. Plus, there's water guns! Also, bring a camera and water shoes and a waterproof bag if you don't want your stuff getting wet. read more

Cold day for sure but kayaking to Emerald Cave was still a blast!! Our original booking was cancelled due to high winds, but communication with Blazin' Paddles was smooth for rescheduling. Thank you Cyndi (not sure about spelling) who was awesome with us and texted clear directions with pics for the pick up spot at our hotel. Krystalynne (not sure about the spelling) was our guide and she was great. No swimming or any extra stops as we booked the half day tour. Not sure we would want to swim today anyway. When the sun was hidden in the clouds we were shivering hard. Like other reviews stated, water and snacks for all are provided by your guide. The wait to get into the small, verrry small, cave was ~45 mins today. Your guide will talk you through backing up into the cave for your perfect pic. I used the bungees to secure our cellphones, which were in waterproof bags, to get a front and rear recording. They held beautifully! For any ladies with small bladders, there is a bathroom at Willow Beach. I used the one at the Blazin' Paddles office and after the 20 minute ride to the beach I had to go again. Lol. Definitely a mommy bladder issue. I didn't want to hold the group back, so I jumped into the kayak and waited until we came back. If you too have a weak bladder, don't be shy and just ask. Also, be sure to bring cash to tip your guide. They work hard to ensure you have a good time. We will definitely book with Blazin' again and try the 12 mile tour (which includes hikes to hot springs). :) read more

I did the half day kayak tour on Monday and it was absolutely incredible. I was picked up from Mandalay Bay at 9am and on the water by 10:30am! There was a quick stop at the Hoover Damn lodge (where their office is) to sign waivers, use the restroom, and purchase any last minute items such as hats/water shoes/dry bags. I was pleasantly surprised with how affordable their items were as they weren't using it as an opportunity to price gouge, but more so a chance to buy things that will make the tour more comfortable and convenient in the event you didn't know you needed these items. Melissa and Celeste were our guides and they were informative, hilarious, and patient the entire time. The four mile tour flew by and was an amazing time. I highly recommend this tour if you don't want to spend a whole day away from the Vegas Strip, but want a breath of fresh air from partying all day/night long. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Vegas, and I'll book either their twilight tour or extend my stay and do the full day tour. I really enjoyed being back at the hotel by 4pm so I might repeat this one again because it was so much fun. 5 stars and 100% would recommend! read more

I wanted to try something different than the standard Vegas activities and this exceeded my expectations. We did the self drive half day tour as we had a car rental for our stay. The company does offer a ticket that includes shuttle from LV hotel however the self drive worked out very well for us. If you have time after you can plan a stop at the Hoover Dam. We were lucky to get a free pass to enter the park as it was a free entrance day. We meet at Willow Beach which was easy to find, there was plenty of parking, time to get situated and use the restroom. Our guides were very informative, I cant remember their names but one gal just was newly hired and the gentleman was a definite pro, he showed a lot of passion in what he does and educated us all in the area, the Colorado River and the Black Canyon. The water is crystal clear and so clean. They take great pride in packing in/out and respecting the area. it was 2 miles up to the cave, definitely tested us as a couple as we dud the tandem kayak. The cave was just ok, I expected more by looking at pictures previously, however the rest of the tour and the emerald waters were amazing!! I'm happy that our guide got us off to an early start and saved the stops for after the cave. Later in the morning you can see the lines of kayaks waiting to get in. The water was refreshing, we wore dri-fit work out shorts and top along with some Tevas strap sandals and it was perfect for the small hike and water play. I would do this again and possibly even the full day tour as it was that beautiful, relaxing and even a great arm work out! read more

I took the 1/2 day tour to willow cove on may 15th. It was my first time to the Vegas area and they were all very helpful with all my questions. Our guide was so great. Very knowledgeable about the area and very kind a calm and accommodating. When another person was nervous getting into the kayak she got the person into a tandem since it was more stable. I believe her name was Crystal Lynn or Kristin Lynn. (Sorry) The ride was great, beautiful views and we saw an eagle. The cove is small but pretty darn cool. The guide mentioned the water will look most green when sun is high enough to shining onto the water. But kayaking on the water you absolutely can see how green the water looks. FULL DAY TOUR So... we are "locals" that wanted to play tourist for the day! So Glad We Did! They checked all the boxes for me! So Great! Professional - at check in, we were immediately greeted by Seth (our guide) and quickly checked-in on the kiosk - super easy Fun - laid back, but organized Scenic - the Hoover Dam and bridge are impressive structures and being able to see them from river level is just awe-inspiring. On this tour, you get a unique view of the dam (which is not easily accessible to the general public since you have to have special permission/permit to launch at this location thru a tour company). Or if you have a motor boat and go Tue-Sat .... I think you can boat all the way up on those days just not Sunday or Monday. There are also a couple of unique stops along the river.... one is Sauna Cave... Yes, it's a freakin' sauna and it's a cave. I was dripping wet with sweat after only a couple minutes inside of it. If you are claustrophobic, I'd suggest skipping this. We also stopped at Gold Strike Canyon Hot Springs and got a soak in a HOT natural jacuzzi. (Note... I really would have appreciated being able to do this at the end of the tour when my shoulders were screaming for mercy.) Snacks - Seth had a big bag of snacks! Pretzels, Chex mix, cookies, etc.... You don't feel guilty about eating any of them either because... you're paddling 12 miles. You need the energy! Relaxing - while you do work ... paddling is not easy after 4-5 hours and 12 miles... you do get back to nature and get to commune a bit with the serenity of the river and canyon. We were fortunate enough that it felt like we were the only ones on the water from the Dam to about mile marker 56. I highly recommend booking a Monday tour as it is the quietest day on the river and no motor boats are supposed to go upstream. Interesting - Seth gave us tidbits of history of the dam, river and the area while we paddled as well as provided some info on the local wildlife like the mountain lions, hawks, falcons, vultures, reptiles, etc... Engaging - Seth did a fantastic job of socializing one on one as well as in a group setting - he made everyone feel included. He's so easy to get along with and fun to talk to about everything and anything. Exhausted - After a full, rewarding day on the water, I went to bed early, exhausted, sore and strangely re-charged! Tips: * You should be in good health. This is NOT a lay-back-and-cruise kind of tour/activity. While you don't have to be an experienced kayaker, you do need to be a fairly active person. I'd also say this is not a good idea for small/young children as you are on the water A LONG time. * I'd suggest a dry bag for your stuff... and a water case for your phone... or a water camera. There's a cubby in the kayaks that you can store your stuff but it's not water tight so you need to put your stuff in something if you don't want it wet. * Go Pros are fun... so if you have one that you can put into a water case, do it! My hubby stuck his on front of his kayak, and I saw other folks who put them on their hats and wrists. * Bring your own gatorade or sports drink as the tour only provides water. No alcohol! * Bring some cash for tips and for buying drinks (soft as well as beer) or ice cream at the end of the tour at the marina. * Bring a small towel and change of clothes if you don't like sitting in wet/damp clothes on the way home. (You can change at the marina - there are regular bathroom.) I can't tell you how good it felt to put on dry shorts at the end of the day. * Wear or bring shoes / sandals with a pretty good grip on them. When you are walking through the water and hiking up to the cave and hot springs (both are short jaunts of maybe about 50-100 yds), the rocks and dirt are slippery. There are a couple steep areas (very short climb) that are a little challenging and I ended up having to crawl a bit because 1) I have short legs and 2) I didn't want to fall on my ass. Don't worry... you can clean off in the river. read more

He was a joy and made our experience that much better! The views are great and we got some awesome pictures in the cave. Be prepared to use some arm muscles! Also, we did a little hike in the middle as well for a good view so make sure you have the right shoes. The water shoes I had were a bit too thin, so walking on the rocks hurt a little. But water shoes or comfortable sturdy sandals are a good idea. It would also be a good idea to wear gloves, I started to get blisters on my thumbs towards the end.
