Super cool Main Street store front featuring a bar upon entry with a very large and open seating space with a stage to the left. Staff is super friendly. Service was quick. All glassware all super clean, giving the beers a nice lacing. A solid 15+ beers on tap along with a beer slushee and n/a slushee option. The beers are, decent. Doesn't pack a wow factor but they are all pretty good. I'm going to throw this one a 4.0 up top by I would say 3.5. read more

Lots of beers to try in the taproom and the also have board games, etc. you can play while you're enjoying their beer. Service was very friendly, I was talking with the bar tender about how I don't enjoy IPAs and she had me try a couple samples of their cloudy IPAs that don't have the IPA bitterness. As a non-IPA fan I really enjoyed them and recommend my fellow non-IPA fans give them a try. I also recommend the Lactose Panda milk stout if you enjoy stouts/darker beers. They seem to have all kinds of events here including music, trivia, and even wrestling matches. I'd be a regular here if I lived in the area (way too cold for me) and I'll stop by for sure if I'm ever in the area again. read more

Did you say beer? Great place to stop and have a delicious and refreshing beer. They have a lovely outdoor space to sit and relax in the sun or play some "bags". They also have a 2 rooms inside to relax...one much larger room with games/pinball (video) and even a free little library. They also have their own parking lot...huge deal in downtown Hudson! I also have to give kudos to one of my fav parts of this brewery - the 4 individual bathrooms! Each one has a changing station! Hop and barrel is located in a great spot in downtown hudson, street parking and a parking lot which is awesome, we all know how difficult it is to find parking during the weekend in Hudson. They have a huge space where they have live music and a large patio. All of the beer tenders are super fun and friendly, always great service at HB. You should definitely stay up to date with their events it seems like they always have something fun going on. read more

I went here with Debra R, Jose R and a couple of people a few days ago. I had the breakfast ale. Debra R had a stout beer. The other people had a stout and a light color beer. I also got a cute hat. Great place - great beer! The beer selection is awesome, many interesting flavors. Whether you like mild or wild, hoppy or dark, Hop & Barrel is sure to have a beer that you'll love. We stopped in to eat our Dragon Pearl takeout food. Wow, what a great concept! This is a wonderful way to sell beer and to help people that want to eat food that's only available for takeout during COVID. The customer service was very good. Dragon Pearl neglected to give us any chop sticks or plastic sporks. But an employee at H & B managed to find a couple for us. That's really going the extra mile (since they don't serve food). We went in today to grab a beer and brought in our takeout food to eat. Great beer as always! We've been here a handful of times and the beer never disappoints. They allow dogs inside and out. We sat inside with the pup and it was very spaced out and social distanced. Everyone was wearing masks and it was great. It's such a big place, with 2 big indoor areas and a nice gated outdoor area as well. Service was good and friendly. We got the double IPA, crooked grin and hazy IPA. All good! No frills tap room, but did have some games and other flights of fancy available if one would want to keep themselves entertained. But that's not the reason we stopped by. We stopped for the beer. And the beers we tried were pretty good. I had an amber ale and a helles. They were good. My friend had a sour and something else for the second round I cannot remember. Sorry, blame that on age and the alcohol. Still, was honestly impressed with their beer. Very drinkable with a nice range of styles and ABVs. So, if you're a beer drinker, you'll definitely find something here to like. Unfortunately, since we had to drive, we couldn't spend as much time trying more on the menu as I would've liked. Oh, well. There's always next time to stop by to at least see what the seasonal brew is. read more

We came for one beer and stayed for two + the games! Excellent local brewery with a lot to offer. Friendly, genuine and laidback staff. Good beer. I ordered a sour. There were two options. One that was SUPER sour and one more mellow base that you could add one of three flavors to. I went with the Key Lime Sour and loved it. I was provided with comp samples before I landed on my sour of choice, which was appreciated. We walked in on a Friday around 5pm. It was not busy. Ample seating both inside by the bar and out in the back space that has a nice, big garage style door to let in fresh air. There is literally something for everyone at this place - which I loved. There is a free little library at the back, gender neutral bathrooms, a whiteboard where you can answer the question of the day (maybe question of the week/month), a cheeky "test your love" machine which my Fiancé and I both did (was only 25 cents!) They also had a large ring game set up (I don't know if this has a proper name but I only ever see this in Wisconsin and it has the T/Y shaped base). This was the most popular game among patrons while we were here and didn't cost anything to play. There was even a huge Hammer-Schlagen game set up outside under a tent. Quick note on parking - we parked over by the river and walked over to Hop & Barrel. Street parking may be an issues pending on the time of day you visit. read more

Admittedly, I have not been here since pre-Covid. A couple years ago, I would always make this a stop when traveling to the Twin Cities from the Milwaukee area. I'm not sure what the deal was today, but it definitely wasn't the same. The gal slinging beers literally wanted nothing to do with me, as she was fully immersed in creating signs for their new beers. I tried making small talk with what I think was the head brewer (maybe owner?) and it was awkward AF. Tried getting recommendations for their BA Stouts, and it felt like pulling teeth. Perhaps going there in the middle of a weekday is not their strong suit, but this is not the place I remember. There was no welcome when I entered, and no thank you when I left. Before I begin, keep in mind that I have not yet enjoyed all that this brewery has to offer. That being said, from my comfortable position aft the bar I am very pleased. I see games, dinner menus(from local restaurants that deliver), and lots of happy patrons. I have so far tried four beers(they were mostly samples settle down) and was very pleased with all of them! They have updated payment technology Apple pay included) and a juke box! See my pictures for all their fun events and specials. Very happy and will definitely be back!! This has become my favorite place to go in Hudson. Their beer menu is fresh and changing but always had something familiar, you can order food from neighboring restaurants (Agave is cash only but delicious), and there are so many events to participate in (do not miss rock the lot on Aug 18 and many more events beyond that). Stopped in today to use a groupon....which included a flight of 4. I'm not a hop fan so I usually ALWAYS get a flight with 1 or 2 beers I would never order... NOT today....all four were solid...and delicious!!! The beertender was friendly and chatty. Love the bright and spacious tap room. Not a fan of high stools but...these ones are comfortable and easy to get up on! I super love when I see an owner sitting @ the bar....like a customer.....chatting with others!! A baseball tournament in Woodbury brought my sister and I here afterwards and we met an old friend here too. The place was hopping on a Saturday afternoon but we found seats at the bar. I tried these beers: Minnesconsin Lager, gave a 5 on untapped. Beer Can Island Blonde Ale 4.5 on untapped, Lemon Breaker Shandy, ok gave a 3 on untapped, Pil Boy Pilsner a 5 on untapped and Hop and Barrel Mild Ale a 3. Service was great with many samples and catching up. The vibe seemed fun on a Saturday afternoon outside and inside. Location has not much parking, would have been awesome overlooking the St. Croix River. Would definitely return if in the area again. read more

I'm so happy Hudson finally has a good brewery. My favorite is Chad's Pale Ale. It has a nice brightness from the hops and an even, well balanced flavor for a pale ale. This is a great little spot in Hudson! The main room has lots of windows looking out at the street (and you can catch a glimpse of the river through a break in the buildings across the street). This room seats about 30-40, with seating options being high-tops, bar rail, and a rail running along the windows. There is also a back room with picnic table type seating. That room also has a few video games. The bartenders are really friendly and knowledgeable. I wish know we had chosen to sit at the bar and talk with them more. They have their own parking lot and there is also on-street parking. They have a patio which looks like it will be a nice spot in the summer. If you get hungry, they have menus for local spots and they also bring in Big Guys BBQ to server onsite on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. Dogs and kids are allowed. The days we visited, they had 15 beers on the menu, although 6 were sold out. Seems to be a nice selection and they've gotten off to a good start if they're already selling out! read more

Love this brewery so far. Great beer especially the Blood Orange Hudson Fog IPA. They are dog friendly and our Caesar loves eating the free popcorn off the floor lol. They allow you to have food delivered from or to bring in food from local restaurants. Go try it! read more

I really liked the golden ale, the customer service, and the free bread and popcorn. I also like that it was family friendly, even for our furry family members. My partner wasn't as impressed with the beer, but your mileage may vary. We both agreed that we will go back to the brewery when we are in town. read more

We came here with a group of 7 on a Saturday to try some beers. My husband is a big brewery-goer and loved the beer here. I, on the other hand, am not a beer drinker. Many breweries will have a non-beer alcoholic beverage but this place did not so I had to stick with drinking water. They have some board games available to play and skee. ball which we took advantage of. My husband would like to go back here (I may pass since there's nothing for me) but if you're a beer lover looking for a good local brewery you should definitely stop by! read more

Yay! Hudson has a brewery. I have been out of the area for a couple of years but was so happy to see this spot when I moved back. Hudson has so many great places but a brewery right on main street is the best addition in awhile. The location is super convenient with it being right on the main strip. Parking downtown can get busy but Hop and Barrel has a small parking lot for guests. The building itself has a unique shape that lends itself well to a brewery. You can grab a seat by the window and enjoy the views of downtown Hudson. The workers were all very nice. They have a good selection of beer like most breweries do. They were out of a few but I was able to find a delicious Pale Ale. Their cans for sale are cute and have some fun names like Minnesconsin. It was a beautiful day so we wanted to sit out on the patio. However, I quickly glanced into the back room and it looked like they had some fun arcade games. The patio is the perfect spot on a nice day. They had umbrellas to keep you from roasting in the sun. Another great part, dogs are welcome! I believe inside and out. Just make sure you have a friendly pooch. If you are the driver or just don't want to partake in the alcoholic beverages, there was a cooler full of alternative beverages like kombucha. I didn't see any food there but they did have a huge book full of food delivery options. This is a cute brewery with yummy beer that I will for sure be returning to! read more

This place is unpretentious. Has a nice friendly vibe. My husband had flight (4 beers for $8 bucks). He said that all 4 were really good. It has a little free library, board games, and the chive videos playing in the bar. So something for all attention spans! There's free popcorn and all the takeout menus from the downtown area. I came for the grand opening and the place was hopping! Been here a few times since then and am less impressed with each visit. Tonight I am here and the service is just not good.... bartenders are too busy having personal conversations, eating dinner at the bar, and too busy playing on their phones to pay attention to paying customers sitting at the bar. We practically have to beg to get another round.....There are dirty tables and other customers that need attention... PLEASE train your staff to pay better attention to the customers.. The younger gal behind the bar tonight was ok, but the older one COMPLETELY ignored us.. and this is not the first time she has given zero service . It is Friday night at 7:00 pm...it should not be dead here but it is! Please do something before it declines any further. read more

This place is amazing! If you are a Hudson local (or anybody really) this is the place to be. There is literally something for everybody. Variety of different beers, outdoor patio right along downtown, BACON every third sunday of the month, the newest version of big buck hunter, skiball, foosball, claw machine and arcade game. There is a nice touchtones jukebox, free popcorn, huge variety of board games and a free public library. They sell Hop and barrel merchandise as well. I came on a thursday night and they even provided a free class about beer! The bar and taproom are both very clean and well kept. Kids and dogs are welcome. The location is prime real estate right in downtown Hudson along the river. 10/10 would visit again! read more

All around great environment with the friendliest staff, solid rotating beer selections, and the doggo's are allowed inside and outside! Inside there is a lot of space (stocked with board games, and a few arcade games), and outside there are standing heaters with cornhole setup...definitely something for everyone. read more
