Cozy brewery in an old building. I definitely prefer this type of space compared to the loud "warehouse" breweries you often find in the cities. We brought some food in and the owner greeted us and chatted for a bit. I had a Mexican lager and added lime, which I think was REAL lime juice as I had pulp in my glass at the end. It was delicious and I gulped it down. Then I had a little baby nut Brown Ale which was tasty as well. They have a patio out front and I think one in back or on the roof - I didn't explore much - too buys eating and drinking! read more

I've got a few friends that live down in Hastings. We come down to Spiral when we hang out. The beer is pretty good and they've got a great variety. Staff is always super friendly, and price is in line with the rest of the cities. Their location is great with a lot of food spots around that you can bring in. In the summer they've e got a sidewalk patio AND a roof patio which are both awesome. You're allowed to bring dogs in which is always another plus for us. They frequently have events like live music and trivia. All in all a pretty great brewery. Definitely worth a stop in if you're in the area or want a quick jaunt not too far out of the cities for a day. Hastings has a lot of other fun things to do too! read more

I let it go. it was riverdown days and every one has a beer in hand. I walked in with an empty can to buy some merch and the guy who "refused to serve me" / serve me a t shirt, until I threw the can away. no problem I toss it and he continues to be a dbag. this brewery is losing business because some weak minded / pathetic individual. We absolutely adore Spiral! It was just what downtown Hastings needed. They are kid friendly too so it is a great place for families to hang out. They have a rooftop, inside, and a parklet in the summer months. The beer is awesome and they recently started serving thc beverages as well. They have a lot of local restaurants that can deliver or are in walking distance. They also allow dogs inside the tap room which is awesome! read more

The seating is a bit tight if they have live music going, but it is a fun atmosphere. It's cool to be right in the same area as the brewing and the rooftop area is cool over looking downtown. The staff are awesome and the owners are great as well! They don't have food options, minus some snacks, but they are right across the street from other options for dining. Parking is on the street so it can tend to be busy, but there is also a small lot near the building you can park in as well. read more

Found they are a dog-friendly place (both inside and out) and were looking for a way to get our pup out of the house a little more. Only stayed for a beverage, but staff was helpful, even got us a small cup to get our dog some water. We actually both tried seltzers the day we went, a pina colada and mango habenero. Hubs liked the mango habenero and said it had a nice kick. The pina colada one I had to keep stirring to get the flavor not to just sink all to the bottom, but it still tasted good. Will come back and try the beer a different day. I would note, they don't have food on-site, but appears they are happy to have food delivered there. read more

Downtown Hastings sure has a lot of charm and Spiral is perfect for it! As soon as you walk in it's very inviting and I love the big tables for gathering with people you don't know! The Mississippi Fog was my favorite beer, easy drinking even if you only drink lagers. Their upstairs patio will be nice when the weather gets warmer, not a lot of seating but a nice view of the river. All parking is on street. read more

I don't get down here often.....but it's an easy and somewhat close drive from the cities. I was surprised last month, in the summer, some of the storefront spaces are taken away for flower pots and such so parking can be a bit tricky if downtown is busy but the blocks around Spiral tend to have some spaces and to the north is the riverfront parking lots. My inaugural visit in September 2019 left me underwhelmed...one beer on my flight was off-putting. However that was five years and at least two Brewers ago. Current brewer, Morgan is crushing it!! On my third or fourth visit in November 2021 I entered, ordered my beer and then passing the bar, made my way to a table....as....a gal in Carhart bibs was sitting on the end...as I passed her I said "you must be brewer Morgan!" and proceeded to my seat. As I sat down.....Morgan joined me! Well...I told her I ran in to her former co-worker @ a brewery & she'd said Morgan replaced Bobby. It was delightful to chat her up about brewing and craft beer. It just makes the beer taste better.....to know the human brewing it is friendly and cool! The tap room is comfortable and spacious. I like that the brew house is right there....on display! Beertenders are always friendly and knowledgeable. Delightful Heidi is a staple behind the bar. Spiral has good beer poured by friendly staff in an inviting tap room and definitely worth the drive, cheers! read more

We dropped in to meet a friend & get another hops passport stamp, around 715pm on a Thursday. Street parking was pretty full with the first open spot about a block away, not bad for free. We arrived before our friends & stood off to the side while we waited for the rest of our party, We weren't made to feel unwelcome or rushed. There was live music playing and a lot of interactions. We arrived hungry and were thrilled to see the option to order from surrounding establishments & get it delivered to our table, right where we sat... go team! Unfortunately, we got caught up in catching up & forgot to get pictures- we also suddenly realized it was 1010pm & they were now closed with us being the only people still there. My cousins and I casually went here and stayed for hours playing cribbage and drinking beer. There are plenty of beers for everyone to enjoy and depending on the day and promotions, they have much lowered prices too. They provide live entertainment, staff is very engaging, and the kicker is that you can bring your own food or there are neighboring restaurants that deliver right to your table!! This brewery was right on the Hastings downtown strip and has a lot of beer and non-alcoholic options. They named the bar after the old Spiral bridge in Hastings and have a lot of cool artwork. You can bring your own food inside and your own growler if it is standard size and clean. Our table got most of the beer in flight form and you can choose up to 6. The Hazy IPA and Sour was favorite for most. I also drank an N/A kolsch beer and was ok, but probably wouldn't try it again. Very flat and I've never been a huge kolsch fan, so it would be nice to have another type of beer option. They did have a hop water, but not a fan of carbonated water so decided against it. We stopped in on our way back to Minneapolis from red wing after a long hike and loved this tap room! It is evident others do too whether they are local or from out of town. Hastings has blocked off their Main Street which allows the brewery and other surrounding bars/restaurants to extend their patio and outdoor seating. This brewery also has a little rooftop area in back as well which you can see the river from. It is evident this is locally owned and the community supports and loves it with all they have. Service was so nice and friendly and helpful with what to order or where to sit. We had the pub pass so it was buy one get one free and had no issues using it with them. We did the flagships - Mississippi fog and downward spiral, both really tasty beers. Covid protocols in place - socially distance tables and limited capacity. They could wipe down tables a little more but they were packed with limited staff and I saw they had a rag available for you to use if you needed to wipe your own. Highly recommend if you get the chance to stop in. We loved it here! read more

Spiral Brewing is down in Hastings, MN on the historic main strip. The brewery opened in 2018 by five friends with a passion for craft beer. Their flight board offers six beers, and I couldn't resist filling every last spot. I picked out four beers and let the beertender pick the last two.  Hollywood Hill: A Hefeweizen with medium-high banana and light clove flavor. It is a light and refreshing take on the hefeweizen style and was the first beer that I cleared from the flight board. Mississippi Fog: A Hazy IPA with a floralness that I can't necessarily place. Apricot and orange are most predominant in terms of citrus flavors. Body is a bit thicker than some Hazy's, but is still refreshing. Downward Spiral: An American IPA with great clarity. You are hit with tropical notes on the nose followed by citrus on the finish. Medium bitterness, but the lighter bodied and tampered intensity makes this an IPA for everyone! Double Downward: A Double IPA taking the base downward spiral and double-downing on it! More malt, more hops, and a slightly heavier body. I get more bread crust and a higher amount of bitterness on the Double - gives it a little more 'umph'. Archimedean Series: Formula 4: A Scottish Wee Heavy with a medium body and extremely drinkable for a Wee Heavy. Not overly sweet, you still get plum and molasses flavors without feeling like you are drinking liquid candy like some Wee Heavy. No alcohol burn, and extremely smooth. I really enjoyed this Wee Heavy! Bock and Dam: A traditional take on a Bock. Light bodied with a spicy hop flavor. From a malt perspective I get toasted bread.  _______________ read more

Took a trip to Red Wing and decided to stop at Spiral Brewery on the way home. We arrived at SB around 9pm on Friday. We were greeted by Heidi and sat at the bar. I asked to try the Imperial Stout and the Barleywine. While I was deciding I was offered the regular stout-this is the type of amazing service that I love and appreciate and will get me to keep coming back! I decided on the Barleywine and loved every sip. Barleywine usually has high alcohol content and this one did too and it was under 10% which is rare for the ones I've seen. The space is really great! Lots of light, super cool merchandise, stage, tables and L-shaped bar. Before leaving we had a chance to talk to Heidi and she was awesome!! We learned more about SB and now can't wait to come back in the summer to try some new taps! read more

First time here. I tried Townie Kolsh 5.0 ABV. This is their best seller but it should have been colder. I also tried Oliver Grove Pale Ale ABV of 5.0 again good. I also tried Leduc Red IPA very bitter and did not care for. Pints are $5.00. Parking was street parking. They are looking to add a rooftop patio next year. Nice bathrooms with communal school type sinks. Staff is friendly and one came from Hop and Barrel. Dogs are allowed and encouraged. Wi-Fi was bad here as was not able to check in on yelp. I was in Hastings for work. They are new. The rooftop patio will be cool overlooking the river. No food but can be ordered in. read more

Randomly found myself in Hastings one evening, so I swung into Spiral and my tongue and tummy were so happy I did. Plus the space is super cool. Spiral is right downtown and at least when I went parking was easy. Most of their beers were okay to me, but I absolutely fell in love with their Porter. I have tried lots of porters over the years, and this one was so unique. Even if you don't normally drink dark beers, at least ask for a taste. I had a great time at spiral and left with a growler, plus their logo is cool. And thanks to the friendly staff and patrons who were nice to a boy from the big city. read more

I love touring different breweries and was excited to get down here, nice fall day for a drive. I came with my husband and child. The taproom wasn't very big, all tables full when we got there. There was an area for a stage that I feel would be good for more tables. My husband got a flight of beers and I started with foxtoberfest which I thought was delicious!! It will probably be leaving soon. I also had the downward spiral ipa which wasn't too bad! It had a cozy atmosphere feel to it. They do have a play area for kids and toys. My son loved it! The drive was 30 minutes for us so I don't know if I'd go back unless I was in the area but I liked it. There is street parking and we found a spot right away. They do not serve food and no food truck but they do have a list of food near by you can order. read more

Exceptional beer and seltzer - even better people. Love their beer board where you can buy a friend, a representative, or a veteran a beverage. The cold brew on tap with the Hard Left Stout (Extra Hard Left) is chocolate-y smooth. The Foxtoberfest is the best I have. And the Downward Spiral holds it own with any IPA. That said, the Mississippi is my favorite by far. A hazy IPA with all the glory and nothing to shake a stick at. Don't overlook the seltzer - especially the ginger lime! read more

Worst service in the area! I love this town but the beer is flat and nasty. Over priced. They think they are the only option in town. You are better offer with a can of beer in a parking lot. Rude owners. They act like they are better than anything in town and can over charge. Not good in a town of average people. If you want bad beer that tastes different every time you try the same one this is the place for you. If you enjoy rude service this is the place for you. Been there over 5 times always the same.
