I really liked the Lumberyard expect for one thing. Pros Going in the winter is off season due to its proximity to the river and marina. Wait staff were extremely friendly and prompt and the menu offered great choices. We especially loved the fried ranch appetizer which is a take on the State Fair classic. Great options for burgers, sandwiches and pizza. The Lumberyard felt like a cozy cabin and a great place to watch sports. Cons The drinks especially the mocktails, what always gets me is if prices are not published and when the bill came I saw the 4 mocktails were $15.00 each the same price as an Old Fashioned I tend to think "Really". Nevertheless it is a great place and we will be back just ask for prices when they are not published especially for underage kids ordering mocktails. read more

My husband and I met our friends at this quaint, Little Bar & Restaurant tonight for Burgers and appetizers. As soon as we walked inside, it was a surprise! We were taken back to a small town cabin bar from Our childhoods. When you first walk in there is a little vintage storefront. Think miniature Crackle Barrel meets tiny Flea Market. The whole place inside has seating room for 30 people top level and 30 people bottom level. There is a cute light-up Patio to sit outside if the weather permits. Our server was Amazing! She was Minnesota sweet and friendly, Attentive, and on it! She made me a custom Jalapeño Margarita while we looked over the menu. We ordered the cauliflower Bites, Cajun seasoned breaded cauliflower tossed in sweet chili sauce and tortilla chips served with queso blanco, fresh guac, and salsa. Both came with a plethora of delicious sauces! Our friends Ordered Bacon cheeseburgers with sweet potato fries and regular fries! The burgers were huge and delicious! I ordered the boneless wings because I don't like picking through the bones, but I did not expect these boneless wings to be pure white hole chicken breast that they Bread, spice and make all on their own! This is no frozen chicken tenders from a box... These are handmade, hand rolled, hand, breaded, and prepared perfectly for you! Get some air flow going in the outdoor bar area!!! There should be multiple fans going and even misters! It's like stagnant air and people are sweating in the heat! It's too small of an area to be dog friendly as well. Dogs should be restricted to the outdoor dining area, not allowed in the outdoor bar area. It's way too small of a space for people, dogs and children. read more

I think the lumberyard pub deserves a better rating on Yelp. We stopped by because of Afton's strawberry festival. The weather is hot and the patio is nicely shaders we were sitting right away and got sit in front of the lawn game area and the live music. The food was Nicely presented l. We shared a Chicago style dog, chicken salad. My parents ordered pub burger and egg salad sandwiches. They liked it. We enjoyed the onion rings. The kids ordered cheese quesadillas and chicken fingers. It's a typical pub food, but it was nicer than all the reviews I saw on Yelp and was surprised to read theirs reviews. The server did forget my lemonade and wish they could come more frequent to refill my water. It is a hot day, so I did drink a lot. Hence taking off one star. read more

In general I like this place. We ordered a supreme pizza during happy hour for $13.99. It's nothing more than a boughten frozen pizza. They have a 2 for 1 happy hour on domestic drafts. Drafts normally are $6 based upon $30 charge on bill for 5 beers however they only gave me $10 off for the happy hour discount. The bartender did correct it but customers should not need to bring up this issue. Also be aware that the place also adds a 3.75% Health and Wellness fee too. Based upon over priced drinks and additional fees I will not frequent this restaurant in the future. read more

Appetizers are $18 - $20, that's entrée pricing. Kitchen is outdated and they have not invested in having a facility where they can serve the people that show up in a timely manner. Your food will be cold. Pretending you can serve real food has to stop. Invest in a full service kitchen so it aligns with the prices and quality of food that you deceiving people into thinking that's what they'll get. It was a beautiful afternoon to sit on a patio, have a beer, burger, and listen to some live music. 5:00 on a Saturday evening and we were immediately seated on the patio again. (Again, this is between you and me - I don't want this place to get too popular.) We had a few beers, the girls had a burger and mac n cheese. We ordered the Po Boy and a Devil's Breath Burger. Just keeps going downhill from when they had a qualified cook. Menu has changed, no more Lobster Mac and Cheese for example, which the previous cook made as good as anyone. The fried pickles were once great and now they are awful. Amazing that I once recommended this place because now it's simply "Oh My" bad food. Super cute patio and delicious food!! We brought our dog here and had such an amazing experience! The entire staff made us and our dog feel welcome! The bartender even came over and asked to pet our dog, which our dog LOVED! They even have dog bowls you can fill with water for your pup. We all got bacon cheeseburgers, and shared the chips trio. The bacon cheeseburger was to die for - perfectly cooked and tasted amazing!! The cheese dip and salsa and guacamole with the chips trio was so tasty! The patio had very comfortable seats and the temperature was perfect. As previous reviews have mentioned - if you sit on the patio, you can seat yourself wherever and then go up to a window to order. Food was okay, it's different in these times, and it was our first time so really this comment is about the practices rather than the food. We enjoyed our lunch and happened to arrive at a busy time so there was a normal wait time. However, we were a bit disappointed to see the waitress wearing her mask without her nose covered. And not only that, but she did offer a straw to my fiancé, but grabbed it with bare hands in the area where he would have put his lips. I understand that the risks and perception is much more relaxed in these rural areas, and is not at all like Miami, which is where we are from, but as a courtesy to others, especially in a food establishment, please be mindful and more respectful regarding CDC guides. We stopped on by after a hike at Afton State Park to enjoy a cold beverage on the patio. I have never been inside and this was our first time here. To our surprise there was live music! We each got a cocktail, one at $6 and one at $7, which for the size of the drink, cannot be beat. Plus, the drink was tasty! We also decided to put in an order of fried pickles. The pickles were fried to perfection and the dilly ranch that accompanied it was just what the pickles needed to take it up a notch. Been here once in the summer and once in the winter and not impressed. The food is just frozen appetizers heated up, and frankly you can get your own at the grocery store and do better. I think the inside décor has potential but if they really wanted to make a go of this place they need to step up the food game. The bartenders are just youngsters and probably don't know how to make a correct cocktail so if you do go for a drink have a beer or simple pour. They open and close when they want so if you are making this a destination stop you may want to call ahead just to make sure they are open. read more

The patio area is really nice. It's along the road, but because it is lower than the road, there is a good block from the road noise. Our food--salad with chicken and a chicken wrap was tasty. The chicken on the salad was warm (which is good). Our server was very pleasant and helpful. The only complaint we had was that service was on the slow side. We ordered a drink and had to ask again if it was coming out. Seemed like it was a while before our order came out (though it was warm, so that could be the kitchen's fault). Interesting concept here. You must get your own water, order at a service window and you will likely sit at your table after eating with your plates, cups etc... None of this would be a problem if the food was priced accordingly but the big disappointment was the small disclaimer at the bottom of the menu explaining a 18% charge would be added on all bills to support higher wages for employees. I guess the do less for more is the mode of operation here? The receipt on the bill had the 18% as a "window service charge" LOL. Numerous service failures for our group of seven. The first person to order at window meal got lost and did arrive. The order taker did not disclose of the built automatic 18% service charge. So she added a tip on a tip and did nothing t get here meal until everyone else ate. Then some ordered nachos and he asked for extra salsa.
