I visited Charlotte recently and ordered from this restaurant. I called in my order -- I usually get General Tso's shrimp, but since they didn't offer it, I settled for the General Tso's chicken. I regret that decision. The food was subpar, and the directions I gave were not followed at all. I specifically requested sauce on the rice and even asked for extra sauce, but when I got back to my Airbnb, the food was completely dry. Not a drop of sauce. I went from requesting extra sauce to receiving no sauce whatsoever on the chicken. I had to get up, drive back, and pay an additional $2 just to get the sauce I originally asked for. Maybe people in this area are used to bland, sauceless chicken, but I'm not. On top of that, some of the chicken pieces had hard, sharp bones inside, which made me question whether this was even chicken or something else entirely. The texture and the surprise of biting into something sharp was honestly unsettling. Additionally, when you remind them of what you clearly requested during the order, it suddenly becomes an issue -- and now, almost magically, they don't speak or understand English. I stopped in for dinner and tried the beef yat gaw main soup and hunan beef combo with an ice tea. The yat gaw soup was not something I would order again because it didn't have much flavor (the soup itself and noodles). The vegetables in the soup had their raw taste. Overall not my favorite. I would try other soups next time, maybe the egg drop or house special. The hunan beef was good. Nice flavor with the sauce, vegetables, and rice combined with the beef. I enjoyed it. The ice tea was super sweet. I don't have ice tea very often but I was very happy to have it. If you like very sweet ice tea I think you will enjoy it. read more

When I cracked open my meal I was hopeful. The color of the rice had me excited. The taste however was amiss. I couldn't make out any of the protein. The beef, pork and chicken were all just ok. I love this place, it's close to my job of the last 4 years, so I have grabbed dinner on my way home more times than I care to admit! The food is always delicious, I've never been dissatisfied with a single item even once. Their dumplings are a little crispier than a lot of Chinese takeout places around, which I really enjoy! One the weekends it can get very busy in the evening, they are good and have a high volume of customers T this time, and things may take a little longer than the time quoted, so I would just call and order 20-25 minutes ahead of arriving. On I/25/24, i ordered shrimp fried rice snd chicken wings. As of today 1/27/24 my stomach is still doing flips. I immediately knew something was different with the rice on my first scoop. It had a horrible taste. I ate 2 wings and couldn't eat anymore. That was the only thing i had to eat that day. The next morning, my stomach was if i had pins and needles in it. Moved to this area about 6 months ago and pass this establishment daily but was hesitant to try it but there isn't much nearby for food choices that I enjoy. We tried it last night, and it was delicious! Loved the tofu - cooked excellent and crunchy. Got the sesame tofu & vegetables with white rice (that's how it comes). SO MUCH food and so good for so cheap! If I had known they cook tofu I would have tried it awhile ago. Stayed in a hotel near the airport and just searched the closest Chinese takeout restaurant and this is what showed up. I was surprised by the recent negative reviews of this restaurant because we both had a great meal and appetizer with plenty of food left over. Our meals came out within 10 minutes and it was a good price for the amount of food that you got. The restaurant was very busy too for it being so late at night when we stopped in. I visited this establishment I ordered the chicken wings with the vegetable fried rice. The chicken wings seemed a bit too much salt. I really couldn't enjoy them and it was breaded a little bit on the heavy side. The food is good, fresh, tasty Americanized Chinese food. Unless we are looking for Buffet, Hop Feng is our place. The staff is friendly and polite. The service is quick, even on Friday nights.
