I ordered from China Bowl Express on DoorDash last night. I originally thought I was ordering from China Bowl and did not realize it was China Bowl Express, but either way the order itself was simple. I ordered shrimp fried rice and pan fried dumplings. The delivery was fine and the bag arrived sealed and tied closed, so I do not believe this was the driver's fault. The problem was with the food. I ordered shrimp fried rice and received plain fried rice with not a single shrimp in it. That was very disappointing, especially since that is the main item I paid for. The food itself tasted okay and the dumplings were fine, but nothing about the meal stood out. It was just a basic takeout experience. The biggest issue was simply that the order was not correct. If I order shrimp fried rice, I expect there to actually be shrimp in it. read more

The food is always prepared quickly and the staff are kind and friendly. You never have to wait longer than 20 minutes for your food to be prepared. The inside is quite small and there isn't a lot of space for multiple people to wait and stand. The only issue I have is the packaging of the food. When you take the food out it's sometimes covered in sauce since everything wastes out of their carry out trays. I also have had a broken carry out tray so there was sauce all over the bag, condiments, and other trays. The staff should take more consideration in packaging food so that it doesn't waste everywhere inside of the bag. read more

I've been going to the reg China Bowl and thought the Express was the same. The pictures I put up are from today. The wingettes are cut in half. When I called about this issue, they said they knew the chicken was defective because of the company they order from so they gave me another defective wingette (7) instead of 6. Yet they still charge the full price of the combo. Update: Taste is definitely different. The Chicken was rubbery so I didn't finish it but the shrimp fried rice was decent. I ordered this food to go and it was delivered by grub hub. The food arrived hot and delicious! I was very pleased with the taste and preparation of the rice! The rice was not over or under cooked like I very often experience from other places. The rice was very flavorful. I ordered the sweet and spicy wing combination with the pork fried rice. Super easy and super fast to order and pickup. Decided on Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken Fried Rice and 3 egg rolls for our order. Greeted promptly when we arrived for pick up and the food was waiting for us. We had ordered large size Lo Mein and Fried Rice. The portions were huge and more than we could eat for dinner. The egg rolls were petite but wonderful crunch and filled to capacity , they were delicious. Our bag was filled with plenty of duck sauce and soy sauce packets. Opened the containers, the portions were huge and hot. The Lo Mein had plenty of vegetables and chicken, the chicken was tender and had wonderful flavor. My dude and I tried this place out last night since I had a hankering for rice and he was looking for a hangover cure. I've had my eye on this place for awhile since I feel like there is a severe lack of good Americanized Chinese places in this city. The reviews were glowing, the sanitation rating high, so I thought we were golden....WRONG. I ordered the BBQ boneless ribs with veggie fried rice, which was out of left field for me but someone had posted a picture of this and it looked awesome. I also got an order of crab rangoon. For him, a small chicken lo mein and the entree spicy orange chicken. First the good news..the prices were right, the portions were generous and the ribs and veggie fried rice were banging. Now for the bad...the lo men was "less than just okay" and the spicy orange chicken, while orange in color tasted neither spicy or orange...nor much of anything whatsoever. Bland and kinda mushy. The crab rangoon tasted stale. And while I thought mine tasted great it did not sit well and I immediately had a stomach ache afterwards. So sad, I thought I had a winner here and to make matters worse, my dude did not want to eat here but I convinced him it would be good. I've been in Charlotte for a long time and haven't quite found a Chinese food place that I liked. My best friend told me about this place awhile ago so I finally decided to try it out. It's right on freedom on the right side if driving away from the city, after Cookout but right before the Shell gas station. The outside sign is very noticeably so if you are paying attention you can't miss it. There's 4 parking spots in front and then some on the side of the building. Once inside there's the counter, menu on the wall, and 3 chairs where you can sit and wait for your food. On the counter there's a lunch menu which is everyday from 11-3. I ordered the chicken and broccoli lunch combo which comes with plain fried rice and an egg roll for only $5.45. The sign says order has to be over $6 to use a card so I got a dollar can soda. My food was ready in about 10 minutes and it was a really good portion for the price. And it tasted great probably some of the best I've had in Charlotte. I'll definitely be back. read more

Extra! Extra!! Read all about it!! Freedom Drive now has Chinese restaurant. Staff was friendly and my food was fresh and ready in less than 10 minutes. They also have delivery options. I'm leaving this review after eating here twice. The wings and rice are definitely good and now my go to Chinese if I'm going to forgo eating a salad. The portions are large, so it's good for one than one serving. I had the sweet and spicy chicken wings and friend rice. It's fair. I would go again out of convenience. The (12pc) Sesame Chicken Wings that I had was nothing like the pictures. It was breaded and after soaking in the sauce (ketchup base) it became soggy and unappetizing. The Mongolian Beef (Dinner portion) was full of mushrooms, although I love mushrooms I would hate to see this dish made traditionally without mushrooms, there wasn't enough beef to make up a meal. I shared this dish with another person, she had all the beef and I pretty much had all the mushrooms, let's just say she was done eating before I did. The sauce was good, the beef could use some crisp to it, some charring from the wok would have made it better rather than stewed in. I live in the area. Coming from a place that has a Chinese restaurant on just about every corner (Hey NYC) I was glad to find this place in the area. The place is easy to find even though you might drive right past it if you aren't paying attention. There was a good amount of parking. I usually order shrimp and broccoli with white rice. This shrimp and broccoli did not disappoint. I would say they don't use as much sauce as they do back home but I was still satisfied. It wasn't really that cheap either lol. Then again who wants cheap Chinese anyway?! I'd say if you are in the mood for Chinese and in the area definitely give this place a try. I'm definitely going to try some of the entrees. So we were on the hunt for a new Chinese restaurant since our usual has been constantly on the low list of health inspections and I couldn't chance it. I looked on yelp and discovered this place right down the street, and I'm glad we did. This might seem minor....but when i called to place my order, they quickly and clearly repeated my order and gave me the total. You don't know how many times i place a Togo order anywhere and i have to hurry up and try to ask them the total before they hang up. Now to the food, I'm sure I've found my new favorite Chinese spot! My husband ordered wings with their sweet and spicy sauce. I definitely wish i ordered them after trying a piece, the sauce was delicious! He also ordered shrimp fried rice which was a decent portion for a small. Now I've always been iffy about ordering shrimp from Chinese restaurants because sometimes they don't devein the shrimp. This one does, plus it was huge pieces, plus it tasted fresh! I ordered the chicken and garlic sauce combination that comes with fried rice and an egg roll. I usually give up my egg roll because it's just a greasy mess.
