This was my last stop on my way out of town after a short but fun few days at the gulf. I knew I had to try this spot after I saw it ranked as the best cheesecake in Alabama. I popped in fairly early on a Saturday, early enough that I was the only customer. This place is covered practically floor to ceiling with every variety of cheesecake imaginable, in individual portions to giant shareable cakes. There are a few other treats available too, like cookies. After browsing the flavors, I decided on a small sized turtle cheesecake. I think it was maybe labeled as individual but I comfortably shared it for a smallish dessert with my parents. My one disappointment was that all the smaller cheesecakes I could see were in circular servings (like a large hockey puck) instead of slices. I don't know if I'm just bad at looking for things or if they don't sell slices anymore, but I made out okay with my dessert. Service was very friendly and welcoming and got me rung up quickly. I took a quick bite while it was still cold and then saved the rest for about 1.5 drive up to our lunch spot on our way home. It held up pretty well in the air conditioned car. The bites were delicious both times. It's a pleasantly thick and creamy cheesecake. I enjoyed the chocolate cookie crust though I wish there'd been slightly more of it. The turtle toppings on top really added extra tasty flavor, though I only found chocolate and caramel -- no nuts despite it being a turtle cheesecake. That was kind of a bummer, but I still really liked my dessert. I'd happily get this same cheesecake again. Definitely worthy of a try if you find yourself in the area! read more

Well, they are back to selling the infamous Key Lime Hope Bars, but they are totally lacking in quality! They used to taste like they were made fresh daily. Now, they taste frost bit from being in the freezer so long. I would have thrown it away, but I forced myself to eat it at the price I paid. And speaking of, way too high! I will not be going back! Last try! And, what a shame when I'm in Gulf Shores so often. It's a bummer, it's not like it was years ago! I used to recommend to everyone, but I won't be doing that anymore. Red velvet was very sweet with a cake as the crust. Key lime was very smooth and creamy with a sharp tartness. Loved being able to browse and look at all the options without feeling rushed having to order and choose at a counter! They also had large whole cheesecake options. This is one of our must do places when at the beach! We have loved every flavor we have ever tried! They have little mini cupcake sized, personal sized cheesecakes, and all the way up to big ones for a party. The personal pieces used to be a slice, but now they are perfect little round ones! They also have sugar cookies, cannolis, and cream horns. I noticed today that they also have a few variety packs! It's a small mom and pop kind of place, very clean. You get what you came for. No extra bells and whistles. There are a few tables inside and outside. They also have a drink cooler with bottles of water, Coca-Cola, milk, and the like. The employees have always agreeable and willing to answer any questions we have! Highly recommend! read more

Ive been coming to Gulf Shores and Hopes Cheesecake for over 20 years. We usually stay a few months at a time, and it's always a must stop for us. They discontinued our favorite, the pineapple but the banana is a nice runner up. The last 2 times we've been, the older guy checking us out has been a little crusty but the cheesecake is still fabulous. read more

I picked up Hope's Cheesecake for a few friends during my trip to Gulf Shores. I chose the Blueberry, the Pecan Praline, and the Key Lime. We all tried all 3 flavors and my favorite was the Pecan Praline, then the Key Lime, and finally the Blueberry. I found the blueberries on top to be a little bit dry. All of the cheesecake was rich and creamy. It was dense, sweet, and slightly tangy. I'm quite sure this is better than any of the available restaurant desserts in the area! We loved all the cheesecakes we tried last night. We did the sampler, so between all of us, we were able to try 8 different kinds of cheesecake. I love the crumbly style of cheesecake and they do it just like that here. It was so good. My only complaint is that they don't have any chocolate cheesecakes; their bases are all original, so that was kind of disappointing. Stopped in after hearing a bunch of great things. When you walk in the place is very dimly lit and not a single staff member in sight. The cheesecake is in refrigerated cases, there is a large variety to choose from. My complaint is that the cheesecake looks factory made, small slices for $7 a slice. Pretty high for what it is. It takes us about 1 hour and 28 minutes to get here from the bayou and I highly recommend this place to get your cheesecakes! They have a lot of different kinds available and my husband chose a 10" blueberry cheesecake. I wasn't a fan of blueberries on cheesecake but Hope completely changed my view and taste buds on it. At first glance, it looks very ravishing and it's also expensive. However, the price for the cheesecake is well worth it to me. I'd only buy it for special occasions though. $49.95 for 10" cheesecake (it feels heavier to hold than the usual Walmart cheesecakes) and $39.95 for 8". When I first took a bite, didn't really taste anything special but then second, third, and fourth bites, I am addicted. I seriously want to tell everybody about this place but I'm sure everyone already knows about it. They have a map outside their shop so you can pin point where you're from. Horrible customer service experience. You shouldn't throw in your customer's face that you've been in the business 25-30 years and no one has had a complaint. Very bad business strategy and rude. The price of your cheesecakes and I bring back because it is NOT what the label says it is, or for better term it IS raspberry. Purée on top and SWIRLED throughout. And to say "well it's baileys and white chocolate in the filling". Clearly I don't want Raspberry, the label made no mention and you can NOT see the red when picking it up. Looked like chocolate. But to tell me that if I don't want raspberry I should say that I don't want raspberry at the time. Asinine. "Alleged" owner was condescending and rude and WRONG. PICTURES for explanation. See the raspberry and THE LABEL indicating it is raspberry. Then to talk at me like I am a child and say "we'll just so you know.... You can pick out another one this one time...". No thank you. SO AMAZING! We come here every year! It's such a precious destination for me, my husband, and 3 children. My daughter Brianna got an M&M cookie. My son Ayden got a cannoli and said it was the best food ever. I got a chocolate chip cheesecake and it was precious. My son Ben Thomas got a red velvet cookie and it was oh so dearly amazing. I had driven past this place for years and just had never really noticed it and suddenly one day I looked closer at it and saw it said "Cheesecake" and that peaked my attention so I pulled in to check it out. Well this is simply cheesecake heaven with multitudes of flavors, sizes and even individual slices for sale along with other dessert options like cupcake cheesecakes. They have some of the best cheesecake I've ever had and some days when the cheesecake is extra cold and it is extra hot outside it is the BEST cheesecake I've ever had. They even have cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a popsicle stick. They also have a fantastic selection of cookies and their "Hope's Royale" cookie is not to be missed as it is one of the all time best cookies I've ever had! This is a must visit spot on any trip to the area and the bad news is your beach body is going to suffer greatly. More bad news is you are not going to just stop once and not just once a day but likely several times a day. It is a terribly addictive place and it will fatten you up fast if you don't watch out and make sure to exercise and eat plenty of healthy fruits and veggies and make sure to brush your teeth as well.... who are we kidding just eat more cheesecake. read more

Yyyeeeessss!!!!!!! One of the guests at a hotel we were staying out recommended this place. Coming here was a no brainer since I love food and desserts. It was easy to find. Loved the two maps near the front door. You can pick up a pin when you check out to mark where you are visiting from. One international map and one US map. I loved that idea of seeing where people visit from. Nice place inside with fridges of sliced cheesecakes with so many different flavors and of course you can buy an 8 inch or 10 inch cheesecake. I was definitely overwhelmed by the many flavors. What made it easier for me is getting a list of the popular flavors. I went with the turtle. The cheesecakes are good here. Wish I can eat a slice right now as I type this. The turtle was perfect and I tasted the red velvet cheesecake and that was good! Yummy. The nice lady inside was patient while I was trying to figure out what to get. They sell t-shirts in here and there are seats where you can sit inside to enjoy your cheesecake slice.
