I know, I hardly ever give 5 stars on anything. But this place had everything right. I will start by saying, this is fine dining so expect the prices to be high. With that out of the way, this place had everything right. To start with their reservations system is so easy to use and change. It was the easiest reservation system I have ever done. The atmosphere was wonderful. It is one the bay with a beautiful view of the water. The inside is very nice and cozy. As soon as we got there the hostess was so friendly and helpful. They got us seated quickly. Now for the great part, the service! Theisi was our server and honestly we felt like she was our own person server. I know she had other tables but she may us feel like we was the only ones she was waiting on. She did such a fantastic job explaining the menu and food selection and all the choices. She made great recommendations on the steaks! I got an old fashion drink and my wife got lemon drop martini. The drinks were fantastic as well. Now for the food, the Jesse oysters was the best I have ever had! The crab dip was also fantastic. We got the 16 oz ribeye which one of the best steaks I have had down here in Gulf Shores! It had fantastic flavor. We got the butter with beef broth put on top of steak! A+ on atmosphere, service, friendless, and food taste!

My husband and I had gone over to Fort Morgan pier, fishing from 9:30-11. We were hungry afterwards, and I had heard great things about Jesse's by the Bay. I was aware we needed to get dressed up to have dinner there, because it's white tablecloth at night. But, I hoped we would be welcomed with our casual attire for lunch. Sure enough, we were kindly greeted at the entrance and seated right away. We had the nicest waiter, Alex. He said he'd worked there awhile and seemed to love his job. He did great describing the entrees and answering all questions. He sold me on the food, by the way he took pride in their preparation and presentation. We had the following for lunch: Apps- Oyster Jesse Crab & Tasso Gratin Entree- Fish sandwich (Redfish was served today) @ MP ($25), and we chose house made fries as the side. One of the best lunches ever,'in this area. Can't wait to go back for dinner! It will definitely be one our go-to places. Anxious to try everything on the menu. I highly recommend it to anyone, who doesn't mind paying the price for good, quality food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To add, the view is lovely! All the windows in the restaurant face the bay. You can eat outside, if you want a completely clear view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Jesse's on the Bay was an AMAZING upscale dining find while staying in Gulf Shores. We dined here on a Wednesday evening and came back the following Friday to have dinner here again. We started both nights by having Manhattan's and appetizers at the bar. Seth was our bartender and he was wonderful and friendly. The crab cake was phenomenal and full of flavor! I loved the cilantro and the texture of the crab cake. Also, I've never had grits before and Seth gave us a sample of the grits with Gouda and I couldn't believe how good they were! For dinner both nights, I ordered the 8 oz. filet. The first night I dined at Jesse's, I ordered the Jesse's steak sauce, which had a flavor profile of Worcestershire and sugary sweet. The second night, I ordered the Bernaise sauce. I was disappointed the Bernaise was put on top (and A LOT of it) because it took away from the flavor of the steak. Next time I know to request the sauce on the side. The Allen Brothers steaks are amazing, the mood was a cross between casual and classy, the waterfront view was stunning, and the customer service was exceptional. Only complaint is the second night we dined there, we waited over an hour for our food and it seems it was forgotten about. My steak was somewhat cold but it still tasted fantastic, so I didn't really care. A 5/5 restaurant in my book and I would love to go back again!

Exceptional experience (from the second we drove onto the property)! The complete vibe is elevated chic southern elegance! From the sweeping views of the bay to the cathedralesque ceilings... from the intimate tables for two to the cool half-moon tables for 8! Every detail was obviously thought about from a guest perspective. By far one of the best meals we've ever experienced! Every bite was better than the last... Summer, our waitress, was a wonderful example of southern hospitality and local knowledge with a sparkling personality! It was obvious that the staff worked hard and took great care with every guest. I was so enthralled with the total experience that I forgot to take photos of each course and the drinks! Personal favorites: French 75 (perfection), Crab & Tasso Gratin... Filet Mignon (get it with the Bone Marrow Butter!), Dry aged ribeye... Just go... for no reason other than to love this life!

We ate here tonight while on vacation and WOW! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything was spectacular ... from the food to the view to the service![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 10 out of 10 recommend to anyone in town! I had the grouper & my daughter had the filet. We also had the Jesse's oysters & the crawfish Mac n cheese. Everything was divine. This is a MUST when in the area!

Rebecca was an amazing waitress and the red snapper and grouper were amazing! We enjoyed the people watching also. A beautiful place and only about a mile from our house!

We had such a nice evening here! The weather was perfect for the patio. Our server was so sweet and helpful. We started with Cheese bread and he had potato soup. I had "The Fine Line" drink and it was so good. We both had a 5oz. filet but I had the risotto and he had the mashed potatoes. For dessert we both had coffee (it was strong) and I got the chia tea crème brûlée and he had the lemon chess bar (which was AMAZING!)

I am an Alabama native, and I have been visiting OBA/Gulf Shores since middle school. Jesse's On the Bay has hands down been my favorite meal in Alabama. From the food to the service to the stunning bay views, this place can compete with the several Michelin star restaurants I've visited all over the world!

First of all this place try's hard to sell a steak that they do not have knives sharp enough to cut through them. The GM said it's not something they have figured out yet.... While they did bring me a serrated bread knife it was only slightly better. I recommend going to historically famous steak restaurants like Peter Lugers in NY open over 100 years or Gene & Georgetti in Chicago open 80 years. The steak experience here was like a 2.5 star experience. So disappointing for my last dinner in the area. The grits that went with the steak was 5 stars! Some of the best I ever had! The boutique oysters were also quite delightful! 5 star! The scallop dish was also 5 stars! Sweet and tender! The tiramisu desert was also 2.5 star. The bubble sugar with coffee felt old school- not enough soak. It's a cute place. Service seemed a bit stressed and the ice tea was inconsistent.

We had an amazing meal at Jesse's the last night of our recent winter getaway to Gulf Shores. We arrived sans reservation, but only had a 15 minute wait (being December and all). Temps were perfect for an outdoor seat, and we got to watch the slow sunset across the bay. Our server was friendly and helpful, very attentive but not intrusive. We started with the house bread which was soft and delicious, especially with the caramelized onion butter. I had the pan-seared redfish which was truly mouthwateringly good. The beef brisket/potato hash, the caviar creme fraiche--so good. I added fresh lump crab to the whole thing, each bite different but great. I also ordered some crawfish mac and cheese to split, truly great as well. My wife went for the filet mignon and enjoyed every bit. I got a small bite--definitely the most tender and flavorful steak I've had in recent memory. Such a good meal, would definitely return.

Review #2 Dinner Went back to Jesse's for dinner with a party of 6. Every single person raved about their meal & their appetizers. HAILEY took excellent care of us. Our table was right in the back overlooking the bay, and the breeze was phenomenal. After we received our meals, the manager came over to check and see that we were enjoying our experience. The family could not stop talking about how good everything was. Highly recommend. Little bit pricier but definitely worth it. They have a lower level that looks like maybe more casual. We may go check that out tonight

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time! Jesse's on the Bay brings the perfect blend of fine dining, creative flavors, and an unbeatable view. The Salmon Chef's Special was next-level--an explosion of bold, layered flavors that somehow all worked together beautifully. Every bite was a surprise in the best way possible. The shrimp and grits were so rich and flavorful I had to box some up just to save room for dessert--and I'm glad I did! We started with the A5 Wagyu beef tartare and BBQ shrimp as appetizers, and both were showstoppers. The tartare was buttery and tender, and the shrimp had a smoky, savory kick that was unforgettable. Dessert was a homemade peach cobbler made with real, fresh peaches--sweet, warm, and topped just right. Paired perfectly with something from their impressive bourbon and wine list, which includes several allocated bourbons at shockingly reasonable prices. Pro tip: Ask for Chauncey as your culinary concierge--his knowledge, recommendations, and energy truly elevated the evening. And let's not forget the view of the bay at sunset--absolutely stunning. Jesse's nails the atmosphere, the food, and the service. Already planning my next visit!

Paying $70 - $80 for a choice cut steak is not it. Id rather not pay their bills in exchange for a grocery store tier steak.

Ask the Community - Jesse's On the Bay

Is there a dress code in the evenings?

They would probably accept anything except bathing suits, but you may feel out of place because it's white table cloth at night and most patrons will probably be dressed very nicely.

I popped in fairly early on a Saturday, early enough that I was the only customer. This place is covered practically floor to ceiling with every variety of cheesecake imaginable, in individual portions to giant shareable cakes. There are a few other treats available too, like cookies. After browsing the flavors, I decided on a small sized turtle cheesecake. I think it was maybe labeled as individual but I comfortably shared it for a smallish dessert with my parents. My one disappointment was that all the smaller cheesecakes I could see were in circular servings (like a large hockey puck) instead of slices. I don't know if I'm just bad at looking for things or if they don't sell slices anymore, but I made out okay with my dessert. Service was very friendly and welcoming and got me rung up quickly. I took a quick bite while it was still cold and then saved the rest for about 1.5 drive up to our lunch spot on our way home. It held up pretty well in the air conditioned car. The bites were delicious both times. It's a pleasantly thick and creamy cheesecake. I enjoyed the chocolate cookie crust though I wish there'd been slightly more of it. The turtle toppings on top really added extra tasty flavor, though I only found chocolate and caramel -- no nuts despite it being a turtle cheesecake. That was kind of a bummer, but I still really liked my dessert. I'd happily get this same cheesecake again. Definitely worthy of a try if you find yourself in the area!

It's in a small shopping center that has lots of dining/dessert options. I only managed to make it about 45 minutes before close, so parking was easy and it wasn't busy. It smelled nice inside and looked clean. They offer a lot of different gelato desserts; the main draw I think is the twister cone, which is a baked cone that seems to be a donut-like pastry. This looked really good, but I was still too full from dinner to want anything quite that large. Service was a bit of a mixed bag. Two employees were there; one was a friendly young man who was clearly new as the other employee was teaching him how to ring up orders; the other was a surly older woman who seemed annoyed that I'd stopped in. I'm somewhat sympathetic since I did come in a little close to COB, but I don't think ~45 minutes is too unreasonable. I asked if they could make one of their signature cones in a cup instead and they agreed. I got the tiramisu variety, which is tiramisu and coffee gelato with coffee syrup and a ladyfinger. It was made in a reasonable time and I was rung up and headed out to my car to bring it back to eat at my hotel. The price was a little high but the portion was absolutely massive. You could easily split this treat. I certainly was unable to finish it. Overall, I thought it was only okay. The texture of the gelato was lovely, but the flavors were just kind of muted. I thought it should've been a bit sweeter, but not because the coffee was too strong; indeed, the coffee flavor was also just sort of light and unobtrusive. The syrup had an artificial taste that I wasn't crazy about and I was relieved when I'd eaten down past it to just spoonfuls of gelato. Lastly, the ladyfinger was sadly very stale, and even an attempt at ice cream rehydration didn't help it much. If I were to return, I'd definitely try one of the twister cones and would probably opt for a different flavor. Curiosity sated, for now!
