First time to Fort Morgan, Alabama. Stayed for a week and found this absolute gem tucked away on the water. Became a regular within my time in Fort Morgan. Every time I entered the top floor, I was greeted with a host & one of the two managers with a warm welcome. The whole staff was professionally dressed & had an engaging manner which creates a relaxed & comfortable environment. Sat in a booth at the bar both times. What I truly enjoyed from the bartender was the history of the restaurant & the complex development of each cuisine presented. During each visit, the second manager will spend a minute with you to ask how your evening has been, how tasteful the food is & what else they can do to help make our night more pleasant. 1) Drinks were fantastic on every occasion 2) Dry-aged steak / scallops / sample dessert was outstanding 3) Atmosphere topped it off as it was all under control Bottom line, this is a well ran old school establishment with a new aged culinary art design for the customer. read more

Ashley's service was exquisite. She was knowledgeable about the menu and the wines, and she was attentive without being intrusive. She was a VERY thoughtful server and should teach a class on table service. As a family, we talk about our annual Jesse's dinner all year before our return. We have eaten at restaurants all over the world, from the Inn at Little Washington to Singaporean chicken and rice trucks, and Jesse's is unbeaten. The food is perfect, the beef is the best, the service (see above) is unbeaten. Jesse's is really in the top tier of restaurants in the country in my opinion. I know, I hardly ever give 5 stars on anything. But this place had everything right. I will start by saying, this is fine dining so expect the prices to be high. With that out of the way, this place had everything right. To start with their reservations system is so easy to use and change. It was the easiest reservation system I have ever done. The atmosphere was wonderful. It is one the bay with a beautiful view of the water. The inside is very nice and cozy. As soon as we got there the hostess was so friendly and helpful. They got us seated quickly. Now for the great part, the service! Theisi was our server and honestly we felt like she was our own person server. I know she had other tables but she may us feel like we was the only ones she was waiting on. She did such a fantastic job explaining the menu and food selection and all the choices. She made great recommendations on the steaks! I got an old fashion drink and my wife got lemon drop martini. The drinks were fantastic as well. Now for the food, the Jesse oysters was the best I have ever had! The crab dip was also fantastic. We got the 16 oz ribeye which one of the best steaks I have had down here in Gulf Shores! My husband and I had gone over to Fort Morgan pier, fishing from 9:30-11. We were hungry afterwards, and I had heard great things about Jesse's by the Bay. I was aware we needed to get dressed up to have dinner there, because it's white tablecloth at night. But, I hoped we would be welcomed with our casual attire for lunch. Sure enough, we were kindly greeted at the entrance and seated right away. We had the nicest waiter, Alex. He said he'd worked there awhile and seemed to love his job. He did great describing the entrees and answering all questions. He sold me on the food, by the way he took pride in their preparation and presentation. We had the following for lunch: Apps- Oyster Jesse Crab & Tasso Gratin Entree- Fish sandwich (Redfish was served today) @ MP ($25), and we chose house made fries as the side. One of the best lunches ever,'in this area. Can't wait to go back for dinner! It will definitely be one our go-to places. Anxious to try everything on the menu. Jesse's on the Bay was an AMAZING upscale dining find while staying in Gulf Shores. We dined here on a Wednesday evening and came back the following Friday to have dinner here again. We started both nights by having Manhattan's and appetizers at the bar. Seth was our bartender and he was wonderful and friendly. The crab cake was phenomenal and full of flavor! I loved the cilantro and the texture of the crab cake. Also, I've never had grits before and Seth gave us a sample of the grits with Gouda and I couldn't believe how good they were! For dinner both nights, I ordered the 8 oz. filet. The first night I dined at Jesse's, I ordered the Jesse's steak sauce, which had a flavor profile of Worcestershire and sugary sweet. The second night, I ordered the Bernaise sauce. I was disappointed the Bernaise was put on top (and A LOT of it) because it took away from the flavor of the steak. Next time I know to request the sauce on the side. The Allen Brothers steaks are amazing, the mood was a cross between casual and classy, the waterfront view was stunning, and the customer service was exceptional. Only complaint is the second night we dined there, we waited over an hour for our food and it seems it was forgotten about. My steak was somewhat cold but it still tasted fantastic, so I didn't really care. A 5/5 restaurant in my book and I would love to go back again! read more

My fiancé and I decided to have our anniversary dinner here as well as brunch the next day. For our anniversary, the server's name was Summer and she was absolutely amazing. We were thrilled to have such a tentative and fun server. She was very welcoming, kind and knowledgeable. For brunch, our server was Alex and he was also very kind and tentative. These two really cared about the experience the restaurant provides. Every ounce of your money spent is well worth it. I had the dry aged steak cooked on medium with the peppercorn Demi glaze and I highly recommend that for my bourbon enthusiasts, as it pairs quite well. I finished off my dinner with a flight of EH Taylor Bourbon and it was just as good as the food. I'll leave the pictures to explain the rest. From the sweeping views of the bay to the cathedralesque ceilings... from the intimate tables for two to the cool half-moon tables for 8! Every detail was obviously thought about from a guest perspective. By far one of the best meals we've ever experienced! Every bite was better than the last... Summer, our waitress, was a wonderful example of southern hospitality and local knowledge with a sparkling personality! It was obvious that the staff worked hard and took great care with every guest. The service was amazing, BUT all but one of the vegetables contained meat. These are vegetables, and even the seafood special had pork in it, although they didn't tell us that and we had to send it back when we discovered the pork in it. They should, at least, make the spinach, cauliflower or any other vegetables without pork or beef. We asked that they make it without those and they could not accommodate us. It's Alabama, but there are lots of people who eat seafood but don't eat pork or beef. Wish I could rank this place higher, but the lack of options and the failure to tell us about the pork belly in the seafood special sealed it for me. We came with a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant inside is great, ambiance lovely, restrooms clean and waitstaff so kind. The food is AMAZING! Giving this place 2 stars (and I'd honestly give it none if the food wasn't as good) due to the fact that they seated us outside knowing they have a flying ant problem. When we sat for dinner, the ants started flying on our apps plates, then our shirts and then it got so extreme we asked to be moved when they notified us that there was no room inside. I literally had to go to the bathroom to get bugs out of my shirt! We all got so many bug bites and now 4 days later, still itching! No restaurant is worth eating at to pay for dinner AND miserable bug bites. The waitstaff tried to help, apologized and gave us bug spray. WHILE eating dinner and man with insecticide was spraying around our table. Again we asked to be moved and there was no room. The staff admitted they knew this is an ongoing issue. We just couldn't believe they KNEW this is an issue and sat us outside anyway. The manager came out to check on us and offered no alternative and just asked if we were ok. This place is great if you eat inside only. I blame poor leadership for knowingly seating people outside, to risk getting chewed up by flying ants just to gain more income for the establishment. First of all this place try's hard to sell a steak that they do not have knives sharp enough to cut through them. The GM said it's not something they have figured out yet.... While they did bring me a serrated bread knife it was only slightly better. I recommend going to historically famous steak restaurants like Peter Lugers in NY open over 100 years or Gene & Georgetti in Chicago open 80 years. The steak experience here was like a 2.5 star experience. So disappointing for my last dinner in the area. The grits that went with the steak was 5 stars! Some of the best I ever had! The boutique oysters were also quite delightful! 5 star! The scallop dish was also 5 stars! Sweet and tender! The tiramisu desert was also 2.5 star. This WAS one of our favorite places here. Not the best food but very good for this area. Service is good, location is wonderful but the business practices are DEPLORABLE. Up charges for food splits and olives in a martini are horrible practices. Just charge what you believe your craft is worth. Manager chased us down and wanted to hand over a gift card. Denied. I don't want your money. I want a competent restaurateur who charges what they are worth instead of tricking unwitting clients for a "gotcha" hidden charge. Never ever ever ever ever going back here OR their original location. As a matter of fact may have to rethink of my vacation destination I have visited for 15 years. Treat someone else like a sucker. We had an amazing meal at Jesse's the last night of our recent winter getaway to Gulf Shores. We arrived sans reservation, but only had a 15 minute wait (being December and all). Temps were perfect for an outdoor seat, and we got to watch the slow sunset across the bay. Our server was friendly and helpful, very attentive but not intrusive. We started with the house bread which was soft and delicious, especially with the caramelized onion butter. I had the pan-seared redfish which was truly mouthwateringly good. The beef brisket/potato hash, the caviar creme fraiche--so good. I added fresh lump crab to the whole thing, each bite different but great. I also ordered some crawfish mac and cheese to split, truly great as well. My wife went for the filet mignon and enjoyed every bit. I got a small bite--definitely the most tender and flavorful steak I've had in recent memory. Such a good meal, would definitely return. read more

This was our 1st experience at this restaurant . In short , it is highly expensive for a Capt'n D's experience . My wife had a really tough pork chop . I had very dry grits and shrimp and it had two small pieces of of andouille in it . We each had a glass of house wine and a horrible key lime dessert. Jesse's Restaurant is a hidden gem! Everything was absolutely amazing and the views were spectacular. I went with a group of 5. I ordered the Wedge Salad & the Peel and Eat shrimp. 3 from our party ordered the Shrimp and Grits and one ordered the 10 oz fillet with a side of the Corn Spatzle. I wasn't super hungry so I did tasters of most everything. The Shrimp & Grits were out of this world. The grits were super creamy & tasty. The peel and eat shrimp were perfect with the cocktail sauce. The combination of ingredients on the wedge salad was fresh & crisp. The corn spatzle was excellent too. Our friend had some grilled jalapeños added to the top of the spatzle which gave it a little extra kick. We went here for a birthday. We were able to make same day reservations online (though we went during the slow-ish season.) Both my boyfriend and I got the filets and they were nothing short of phenomenal! We got the fired calamari as an appetizer and it was out of this world! We return to this very special place every time because it truly is our favorite. The chef is superb and pays attention to the smallest details. (Check out the miniature chess pieces adorning their Chess Pie!) Multiple layers of flavors and textures in every item. (The slightest bit of slender fried onion topping these tacos added the optimal amount of crunch to take these tacos to the next level. Don't even get me started on the sauce--it made my eyes roll back!). EXCELLENT Calling these tacos is the understatement of the day. My husband has become addicted - literally - to their Shrimp & Grits. He orders them wherever we travel, and he has crowned these the best in the country. Amanda & Brian are the best servers you could ever dream of: polite, prompt, professional, honest with recommendations, helpful with local information on evening entertainment. We took the ferry from Dauphin Island to come here for lunch, and Jesse's did not disappoint. Some of the best food you'll find on the Gulf Coast and the outdoor seating had a great view and was surprisingly cool on a fairly hot day due to strategically located fans plus the ambient breeze. BBQ Shrimp were great and were peeled & de-veined which we prefer for this dish. The Grouper Sandwich was good and my wife's salad with a crab cake on top was excellent - I make a pretty good crabcake at home and am almost always disappointed at a restaurant but this one was up to all expectations plus my wife still raves about the salad. Service was great, drink options were good, and for the top quality I would say the prices were generally "reasonable". Steaks were a bit higher priced and I can definitely recommend the seafood but I'm sure the steaks are great as well. We will absolutely return! read more

Incredible experience. Upscale dining by the bay. My sea scallops with the crème brûlée cornbread was one of the most unique and incredible seafood dishes I've ever tasted. My wife's filet was perfectly cooked, and the Demi sauce was stellar. Our crab and tasso dip was worth the trip on its own. The shrimp & grits were also delectable, truly a stand out.
