We went during the first month of opening. I was NOT happy with my food or service. The waitress didn't really seem like she was familiar with the menu or the food. I usually like my wait-staff to know whats on the menu and have sampled the goods, too. The soup I had tasted like it was from a can and the portion size vs. the price was way out of whack!!! The booths are comfortable and I felt like a sardine and claustrophobic inside the restaurant. Really the ONLY thing that keeps me coming back to this place is the staff and customer service. Everyone that works here is awesome, friendly and attentive. That said, the food, while tasty, is over priced and undersized. As a local bar owner myself I understand the $39-42 per square foot rent can be prohibitive but they really do shortchange the consumer here. I am aware of the challenges Happy Valley provides to business owners but I'd expect a chain like Hop Jack's to have a better business model in place. Ya know, like one that involves NOT ripping off the customers. My recommendation is this, come for the drinks, ice cold beer, and the amazingly friendly staff but make sure you dine elsewhere prior to or after visiting Hop Jack's. I happened to search for this place on Yelp within three days before I decided where to hang with a bunch of girl friends. I wanted some place that was closer to all of our residence's which Hops n Drops was! Upon entering the restaurant/bar I was greeted & saw one of my girl friend got us a booth. I decided for us to move closer to the bar area and the booth was much more higher. Our waitress was name Sarah & she was attentive & friendly. I believe that is how her named is spelled; you what I mean people would have it without the "h" so not sure; I am trying. Happy hour foods were delicious and I would like to share them with ya'll! I did not drink alcohol beverages because I am in training but my two girl friend that was able to make it had their mix drinks which looked refreshingly yummy. Do not let them seat you in the back booth by the door. When seated there you will enter a vortex where you become invisible and can no longer be seen by anyone, especially not by the 5 or 6 waiters and bus people that are continuously walking by you. No one will ever stop to ask you if you've been helped and the busboy will look at your table repeatedly but never tell anyone you're waiting. After about 10 minutes of no one even so much as acknowledging you after you were seated, let alone taking a drink order, you'll just get fed up and leave because you're hungry and just want to eat something. The only star is for the ice glasses for the drinks. This place which I've given multiple chances has THE WORST service I've ever experienced. Not just slow (when there's no one here and a staff gossiping 5 feet from you). But everything I've ever ordered has been messed up. Nothing complicated even. Just down to no tomato please. The service was good, the waitress was nice and efficient, everything appeared clean. The atmosphere is ok - not great, but far from bad, the usual hamburger place atmosphere. We started with the boneless Buffalo wings with some of the best bleu cheese dressing I've ever tasted (pretty sure it was freshly made). The wings were very good, tasty Buffalo sauce. We had the Big Tony's BBQ Mac and the Fiesta Mac, which were both very good. Medium-sized but filling portions, good flavor. I LOVE this place! The appetizers are delicious and my favorite is the queso dip it's amazing. I have gotten the rib tips, bbq chicken wrap and chicken Caesar salad and they're all phenomenal. My husband and I had some time to kill while his phone was being repaired and we were on a mission to find a restaurant opened in Clackamas County to actually sit down and eat lunch. Even though restaurants were allowed to reopen their dining rooms today. Many were not open. Huge shoutout to Hops n Drops for getting the notification from the county yesterday at 2:00 pm and making it happen. Hostess at the door. Outdoor and indoor seating. Happy hour all day long. All customers sitting more than 6 feet apart. All employees wearing masks and gloves. Paper menus that can be thrown away after or they give you the option of looking at the menu online. Sanitizing condiment bottles after each customer. Manager greeting all tables. Asking if they needed anything. Sanitizing tables and door handles etc. Heard him go to a table and say "welcome back to restaurants". All customers and employees genuinely happy to be back to a new normal. They put your orders in right there at the table so sometimes the drinks will come out before they are even done taking your dinner order. They have nice outdoor seating and it's just always a good time! The negative: their drinks are the worst. I literally can't even taste the alcohol at all when I order their 10 dollar cocktails. I don't know if they just splash in like 5 mls of liquor or something but it's really not fair for the price you're paying.
