My husband, son and I were there on 8-21-26 for my birthday breakfast. The food took way longer than it should have, other people who arrived after us, recieved their food first. We even had to follow up on the ETA. when the food finally arrived, I had asked for strawberry pancakes. These were just regular pancakes. The waiter said he could add strawberries to it, making it seem like I hadn't initially said it to begin with. There were so many things we were missing from our meals that I couldn't even keep up with; chocolate milk for my sons meal, a straw, hot sauce/ketchup, the sides to our meals. I didn't even make a big deal about not having any whip cream or powdered sugar on my pancakes, that they normally come with. $17.99 for pancakes, 2 slices of ham and a scrambled egg is pretty steep. At the end of our meals, I had asked the waiter for a to go box and the check. We waited around for another 10 min. As the waiter went by for the second time, I had to remind him again, that we were waiting on the check and a box. It was such a frustrating experience. Arrived on an overcast Friday late morning. They were pretty busy but plenty of tables available and a bit on the noisy side. Service at the table was quick and friendly. I ordered the potato cake breakfast with scrambled eggs and my date ordered the Mr Elmer's omelet. Our food came out of the kitchen is a reasonable amount of time and was hot. Food: the hashbrowns tasted a bit on the "old oily" side, which is unfortunately common IMO at restaurants. The biscuit left her with an oily hand. Met family here for breakfast. There were 7 in our group, and they accommodated us fairly quickly. It wasn't too busy since we came in on a Thursday around 9am. Service was quick and friendly. No complaints with the food. I always get the german pancake combo breakfast and share it. It's plenty for two people. It's so yummy with the butter, powdered sugar, and lemon slices! I'm so happy this restaurant is still here. I hope they can stay for many more years. When I want good, fluffy, pancakes this is my go to place. The service is always fast, efficient, and friendly. I've never had an order completely wrong here. The food is always served hot, well seasoned, and tasty! Yes, the decor is a little outdated but I think it adds to the awesomeness of this place. I hope they keep the tables forever! This is our breakfast place so we haven't tried a whole lot of other items on the menu. I'm giving this a 2 star based on the food & price. I ordered Pick a Pair. Which was a 1/2 sandwich and cup of chowder. The chowder was good but lukewarm. The turkey sandwich had more mayonnaise than turkey on it. Without exaggerating 2 super thin slices that were cut in half. If I ordered the cup of chowder alone it would have been $5.99. Not bad, but with the 1/2 sandwich it was $16.29. That was a $10.30 1/2 sandwich. I love Elmers in general. It has always been a solid place with great food and customer service. Today was a turning point. It was an early dinner about 4;30. When I entered only 2 tables occupied. The employees were all on the overflow side of the restaurant visiting. One gal got up and seated me with a menu. I ordered an ice tea, cobb salad and fries. My ice tea came quickly and was good. It took awhile but I received my salad and fries. First look at the salad it was covered with egg, extra extra tomatoes, bacon and avocado. The blue cheese crumbles and olives were missing. I couldn't see the lettuce. I took one bite and knew something was wrong. Once I removed the toppings I found 2 lettuce cores, specs of bread crumbs, specs of cantelope and rotten lettuce. It literally looked like it was pulled out of a garbage can or salad scraps off of a peoples plates. This salad usually has a nice fresh grilled sliced chicken breast on top and this one had some white translucent mystery fake meat on posing as chicken. I was blown away! Afraid of what I just ingested. This is BS! I showed the waitress but she didn't take it to the kitchen to show them she just put it in the bin and told me she would take it off my bill. I give it a 4. During Covid times so staff were wearing masks. Party or 2 adults & 2 children. Food was decent. Price was average close to $40. Time to order from eating wasn't bad at all and they seemed busy during the lunch hour. Our server Ruth was so polite to us & the kiddos. She offered bibs for the littles & even chatted up with them. We went to the Clackamas location for dinner last night. After ordering, We were asked to leave because my in-laws asked for plastic silverware. The waitress became rude and nasty. I asked why they couldn't have plastic silverware, she said because the manager said so. I followed her to the kitchen and asked why they provide plastic for to go orders but not in the restaurant. Again, she became indignant and told me to leave. My in-laws are in their 70's. I am an educated business woman. As we left, I again told the waitress there was no reason for her behavior, she yelled "get out" in front of several customers and called me a bitch and again yelled for me to leave. This was the highest rated breakfast hose in the area. It was founded in 1960 and looks every bit of 62 years old. It's still clean, though, and the vibe is quite charming. My favorite dishes are the Denver omelet and the Yukon French toast. I like how diverse their menu is and they offer their pancakes, french toast, etc.. with a breakfast meat and eggs. Pleasant appearance from outside. Quiet and mostly empty at 8pm when we went for dinner. I ordered the Prime Rib Dip. It probably was acceptable if you were hungry enough but quite greasy and lots of gristle. I thought it would be prime rib as advertised. It appeared to be thinly sliced beef fried on a griddle with lots of oil. When we went the Delta Covid Virus was spreading rapidly throughout the U.S. My brother in law died of COVID about 6 months ago. Apparently the management of Elmers isn't concerned about Covid because none of the staff wore masks. (A number of the guests did upon entering the restaurant.) The staff was not attentive. We had to go to the register to get our check. Summary. Marginal service. Food that is edible but not at all appetizing. And most important-- managements' disregard for potential public health consequences of their entire staff going without masks during a large uptick in Covid infections nationwide. (This was the only restaurant we entered during our 2 week trip where the entire staff went maskless) One other thing. It's not cheap. read more

Okay, service straight up was seriously friendly and speedy. Cool. I'm going after the crab benedict. Stupid move? Maybe. This isn't the Oregon Coast so I'm going safety mode and just getting a half order of which they offer with all of their benedict's. If it's good, I'll only get half fatter. They have specials on the front page and really push the name brands. Tillamook, Zenner's, Daily's, etc. They have mimosas if you're feeling the glee. Prices run about $8-$14. My benedict was $13. The price seems low as I've packed away far more benedicts than I or my bank account would like to admit. It was a $13 crab benedict. I wouldn't send it back but most likely would not ask for them to bring it out again. The crepes on special were super sweet. Overall, not bad. Not great. Just off Exit 12 along I-205 lies this mini breakfast chain, famous for its pancakes. With a big parking lot and a convenient spot off the highway, this place is likely to attract plenty of truckers and senior citizens. And somehow by divine miracle, it managed to attract me as well. While I've never been fond of the pancakes here, but I had come back on the advice of a friend who was dead certain they served the best crabcakes benedict. He hadn't been to this location but for some reason was convinced that if one sister location had it, it was likely this one did too. I took one look at the menu and learned there was no such item. My buddy was annoyed but we decided to chance it and see if they could make it for us. Our waitress with a slight scowl said in her thick Mexican accent, "cra-cay benedi? OK. We'll try it for joo!" With a wink and a smile, she pranced off where I heard scream something in the back, presumably where the kitchen was located. Within 15 minutes, our pipping hot crabcake bennies were on the table, looking something like a tuna melt on top of an English muffin. It was good, but probably not as good as what he had hoped and certainly a lot better than the $11 we spent of the dish. The hashbrowns were crispy but came in a very small portion. I also had a few sips of their turkey soup, which was too salty and a tad too dark for my taste. I've had better soups from a can. The wait staff was nice, but seemed a little slow and oddly sat my party right next to the bathrooms. The occasional smell of urine wasn't so bad. Prices are reasonably price but a little higher than I last remember them. I'm likelier to lean toward a Shari's or a Denny's than I am to Elmer's, but I give them 3 stars for trying something not even on the menu. read more

I was disappointed with the grilled cod as it was seriously over salted. I'm happy to say that the fried fish that replaced it was much better. The wife had the turkey dinner and thought it was an undersized, thinner than it should be slice of turkey but the mashed and gravy, dressing and grilled veggies were quite good. She had to send the "ranch" dressing back because there was a very disconcerting lump of something in it. The girl had the side of fruit. The serving was a good size although it was mostly melon with some banana and a few grapes. The service was well coordinated, our water glasses were never empty and our server did all he could to help us make the best of a somewhat challenged experience. We love the hard working congenial staff at Clackamas Elmer's. The bathroom mirror has been dangerously broken for over a year! It reminds me of a creepy gas station restroom. they have a huge tree in the entry that takes up needed space when they are busy . the decor is so old and and outdated. June 6th was our 1st sit down meal in a restaurant since March 16th due to Covid-19. Our service from ANGIE was GREAT, gave her a 5. She was attentive and nice. The food however was a 2, so a total rating of 3. We spent almost $18 on my Dungeness Crab BLT Salad, the lettuce was bad. Tasted like it had been sitting in a bin for a week. I had eaten most of the toppings, which were GOOD, before getting to the lettuce so I didnt think it was fair to send it back. My boyfriend had the Roast Turkey Meal, they use slimy canned gravy and the turkey was dry. Not sure how much the food quality had to do with the virus and trying to make food last, but for the cost of their food the quality is not there. Wow! Really sad that they don't take care of the bartenders equally. We are regulars here and it seems you can always count on on 1 table and sometimes the bar being loaded with dirty dishes. I feel bad for the bartenders as they run the bar, make drinks for the restaurant side, assist video lottery and wait on their tables. I brought this to the restaurant manager Maria and it is a non issue according to her. Cleanliness and food safety should be the priority here and it's not. Elmer's has been known for great food and customer service not dirty dishes and poor management. We return for the service the bartenders provide. Maria needs to take lessons from her team. Maria, please hire a food runner/ busser for the lounge side of the restaurant. This is not Elmer's standards. read more
