Stopped in Thursday for lunch. 1st time at a Hops n Drops, that good a free bowl of chips. THEY MAKE POTATOE CHIPS THEMSELVES! They were outstanding, served with a garlic mayo. I will go to these folks again, if just for the chips, did I mention they were outstanding! Before the chips got to the table, I asked the waitress what to order if they wanted me to come back. She didn't flinch and replied the jalapeno cream cheeseburger. Great suggestion not only was there plenty of fried jalapenos mixed to the cream cheese to give a thorough flavor to the whole burger, it was served with a whole fried jalapeno on top of the burger. It was really good and would order it again, but the chips! They have potato chips nachos that I will get on my next visit. Service was fast friendly and followed up on. Went here tonight while looking for a restaurant to eat at during COVID. My husband and I ate on the patio and loved it!! The mobile check in process was great with no wait on a weekend, the drinks were great, and the service was great! My husband got fish and chips which was alright but fish and chips are hard to master. I got a deluxe burger with bacon added and it was delicious. I appreciate how careful the restaurant and staff was during this new opening. Tables were far apart, menus are one time use, all employees had masks and were careful about keeping distance. We went there for Happy Hour yesterday with friends. Not much Happy about it. Having been there a few times before, we expected a decent (if overpriced like everything else these days) meal. My friend ordered a glass of Cabernet that she thought was on the Happy Hour pricing. Turns out only the Pinot was offered for H. H. pricing. Really? I ordered the chicken street tacos and was served a meal best suited for a toddler. The size wasn't the issue. I know street tacos are tiny. Unfortunately, the quality of the ingredients was lacking. They were barely filled with about a teaspoon of finely diced chicken meat that was probably pre-cooked - not grilled, a scant sprinkling of cheese and diced white onion that was more plentiful than the chicken. They came with a side of tasteless pico, a tiny ramekin of guacamole with a tiny bit of sour cream on top. There was also a pile of stale tortilla chips on the side. All this for $17.00! If you add a tip, you would be better off throwing a $20.00 bill on the street. Not ordering these again - ever. That's IF we go back. read more

We ordered delivery through door dash for breakfast food. I had the biscuits and gravy, hubby had the French toast. Also, we got a slice of cheesecake. The food was meh. I would go there if I worked next door, or if someone chose it for a birthday dinner, but I probably wouldn't choose it of all the much better places around. To be fair, they seem to do burgers best based on the reviews, and we didn't try those. But the French toast came with corn syrup and margarine, and the cheesecake came with reddiwhip. burger was pretty good but they charged me for a top shelf scotch when i ordered and was served a lesser one. i even overheard them saying that they didnt have the cheaper one in the system and they said " just do it anyway" . also it was stale and tasted like water. i guess i shouldn't have ordered scotch at a place like this but they should keep their stock at least fresh. tldr, i got charged $30 for a $12 drink and it was stale. read more

Great neighborhood place that we have been coming to for years. Their guacamole burger is top notch and they get it right each time. Heather K is an outstanding server and is always on it and super friendly, that girl deserves a raise. And the bartender guy with lighter hair is awesome too, can't remember his name. We came here for a Monday lunch, and the menu selection was quite large. I got a house salad with hard boiled eggs, and the portion was pleasantly large as well. The avocado ranch was tasty. I also got a hot tea on this cold gloomy day. Service was quick and very nice. read more

Just about a 2.5 star experience Met some friends at this place to catch up and have some drinks and what not. About a 45 min wait..but we had lots to talk about, so we weren't tripping. We waited the full 45 minutes. Again, we were ok because we went to the bar and ordered some drinks. One thing I always notice when I enter any bar or restaurant is the lighting, vibe, but the lighting here was stiff and way too bright. It was set up like a church potluck instead of a restaurant/bar. They really need to chill on the voltage, seriously. The long island iced teas were a little on the sweet side, probably to cover up the lack of liquor used. IMO. The Appetizers were on the expensive side, not sure why though. The mozzarella sticks were dry and flavorless. I ordered the jalapeño burger and I had them add avocado to it. It was loaded with low quality bacon, I ended up picking those bad boys out. It came with tots and or fries, tots were flavorless. Service was scattered and at times non existent. All though they seemed well staffed, it was really without any consistency. All and All, not sure this will get a return visit from me. Not everyplace that's crowded necessary means it's great. Decent customer service, foods good but prices for me are a little to high. I totally understand we are suffering inflation but it's a little to high for the food. Plus my margarita had soap in it. Super excited to see Hop Jacks had finally opened. Happy valley was in desperate need of some new spots to eat and I thought this one was great! Upon entering, the door was held open for us by two lovely young ladies. Don't know if this is a common practice or just while they get acquainted with the neighborhood but I like it! We were seated and immediately brought menus and our drink orders taken. I got the mango Long Island ice tea drink, it was good but a slight bit on the sweeter side than I normally like my alcoholic drinks. My husband got an IPA which he said was great. We were very excited to find out it was happy hour, it's actually daily from 2:30-6:00, I believe. We got fries and mozzarella sticks. Our food came out so quick! It was super hot and fresh. The mozzarella sticks were made in house we were told. So good!! Highly recommend. The French fries were so good! Hot, fresh, crisp and had the most amazing flavor of seasoning. Loved it! The establishment is smaller in the inside then I pictured but it's very nicely laid out. There is plenty of seating in the dinning area, nice bar and I did notice maybe 6 big TVs throughout the place playing the football games so that's nice to know. There wasn't a giant crowd when we first got there but it started to fill up quickly as time went on and the dinner rush was happening. Our food: I got the chicken avocado salad, super good and my husband got the mac and cheese with shredded BBQ pork and bacon on it!! Everything we ate was delicious and filling, no complaints plus the price wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. A few other folks stopped by the table to see how we were doing. Oh and the waiter at the table behind us was educating customers on the beer. Their slogan is something along the lines of "coldest beer in town guaranteed". From what I could pick up, their beer taps are frozen with some type of special tubbing and it's around 30 something degrees which allows the beers to be super cold. Also, the waitress was telling me about one of the icee drinks that has a special ice cube in it that doesn't melt and water down your drink. Thought that sounded cool, I'll have to try it next time. You can tell they are trying to make an good impression on the neighborhood and I think they're doing a great job at it!! We can't wait to come back. read more

I stopped in after 9:30 on Sunday night (8/11) and was impressed with the service and quality of food. I got a jalapeño burger and fries with extra jalapeños on the burger. The fries were hot and fresh and the burger had plenty of jalapeños on it. My wife got the french onion soup which looked good and she remarked it was terrific. The service was great. While there was not really anybody else in the restaurant (considering it was 9:30 PM on a Sunday), our server was prompt, friendly, and quite pleasant. I have had not-so-good experiences at other restaurants when coming in on the later side. I realize folks want to get home and wrap their day up so I try not to do it if I can avoid it. We've been going here for 8 years. Date nights, family dinners, super fun parent nights with bigger groups. Tonight we walked out. 5pm on Sunday 3/26. What I saw was unbelievable. The host wouldn't even look for a table for us. He told us to look around, keep in mind the host seats you, you don't 'look around' to find a spot to sit. The host literally seats you at this establishment. It was clear our party wouldn't fit at anything that was available. We were advised, by Hops n Drops in an earlier phone call, that since they don't take reservations, just call ahead about 1/2 hour to see if there was room for a party our size. So we did, seemed fine. We got there at 5pm, and the host, a younger male, couldn't be bothered to TRY to find us a table. Back up, though, he was rude as soon as we approached him. After his dismissive response, we stood there, unsure what to do...was he going to let us know how long it might be, or, should we leave, or WHAT. ANYTHING would have been nice. We asked him to find the person we'd spoken with on the phone. Maybe we could get words out of that person? He didn't want to do that either, but I insisted. This host wasn't going to tell us anything. As an adult, he can act like an adult. Upon returning to the front after half heartedly looking for someone, he exchanged repeated faces with a female waitress (pony tail) who was working in the bar area. Yea, we saw. Rude. I can't believe you guys. Are you in junior high? So unprofessional. You should be ashamed. Way to let customers see such poor form and childish behavior. That was gross. I cannot believe that exchange was over us wanting to know if THERE WAS A CHANCE WE WOULD BE SEATED ~ THAT'S IT! Thank you, rude host. Thank you, rude waitress in the bar area. If you're already making insulting faces at 5pm on a Sunday, maybe this isn't the right job for you? Second young man comes up and actually tells us approximately how long til we'd have a table. Was that so hard? You guys used to have excellent employees there, not anymore. After tonight, I'll choose any restaurant in town over you. We brought guests in from out of state, they were floored at how rude you were. I was embarrassed for you and wished I hadn't bothered bringing friends to what once was a decent establishment. Loved the steak salad, the servers were super friendly too. The only thing I hate about it is that it's a corporate chain. The manager forced the restaurant to close early because of labor ($$) so we had to leave early. I made this mistake of ordering a salad at a burger place, that's on me. But for a $15 salad with chicken tenders, I'd expect the chicken to be at least edible. It wasn't. The pieces were overcooked, rubbery, and tasteless. The pita it came with weirdly tasted like fish. We ordered a side of tots and the bbq mac - those were solid. But for a $50 lunch for 2 people, it was definitely not worth the money. We may go back and try other things they're clearly better at / care more about, but I'm in no rush. read more

Great little find! Great selection beer that is served super cold in a frosted glass, both their own house brew as well as some other selections of all local breweries. I also got the "drop" which is vodka and a fresh pressed juice served in a "cup" made of ice! Is was delish. They also have a great happy hour. We ended up getting French onion soup, tempura fried zucchini, and the chicken wrap with salad. It was all very good, honestly it was some of the best French onion soup I've had since I was in Paris. I loved this place! My only complaint is the prices, it's a tad on the spendy side. $10.25 for a cocktail, BUT the ice glasses are pretty dang cool and my drink (dynasty I think it was called) was delicious. The food is all freshly made which is great. I had the fiesta Mac, which I could probably easily make at home, but it was great and definitely a good comfort food. I never order Mac and cheese from restaurants but I didn't regret it! The other people at my table had no complaints either. We also got the edamame for an appetizer and it came with a good amount. Overall, $70 for 3 people was kind of a lot, but I'll be back during happy hour for some of those yummy drinks and food! Service was also great, our server (Trevor? This was an impulse stop for dinner on a Sunday night. We were there for happy hour. We were seated and greeted right away. All the employees we interacted with were very pleasant. We ordered two items off the happy hour menu; fish tacos and BBQ flat bread. The food was delicious and plenty for the two of us for dinner. We also had two of the 'drop' drinks. They are served in an ice glass and were delicious. I can imagine coming here when it is hot out. The waitress also told us that the beer is all on tap and is served at 34 degrees. The past few times I've been there the place is less than a quarter full with customers - gee I wonder why? Sadly the staff suffers because when for a family of 4 to simply have hamburgers and drinks and my bill is $100!!!! You expect me to tip the server 20% in this case $20 for doing their job? I'm done and recommend people avoid supporting this business and until consumers start pushing back - the GREED of ownership won't change. We're talking about burgers and fries people, not steaks and caviar. I used to leave here feeling good from having a good time but the last few times have felt like I got totally screwed... never again. Hop to it in Happy Valley! So I'm always a little shy in reviewing chain places mainly because it's difficult for them to make many changes they have no control over. A friend and I stopped in here and ended up just having drinks. It's in a great location if you live in Happy Valley or even Boring. Great meeting place and big enough for large groups. My experience here was mostly positive. Our server was fantastic, the entire dining area was super clean, as were the restrooms. They have a pretty great Happy Hour Menu, and their own brews which are decent and you can get a ice cold 240z stein! We were glad to hang around awhile!!!!! Food wise is where is breaks down for me, but don't let this keep you from trying it out. It just wasn't for me. Apart from the ubiquitous black bean veggie burger, mac n' cheese, and a grilled cheese, there just isn't much for the vegetarian customer..........and to be honest, these are not items most veggies enjoy ordering. Again, no offense to this place, it's just me. Their menu is sort of all over the place, one part Southwestern, one part BBQ, and one part Tex-Mex. Probably a bit of trying to do too much with several versions of the same ingredients. For me, it just doesn't work. I highly recommend going here for drinks if you're in the area however. They have an impressive menu of drops, mixed drinks, beers, etc. The IPA was pretty good for me and I'm a bit of an IPA snob! At an average of $7-10 a drink however..........consider Happy Hour! A Blazer game and a cold beer go hand in hand! I'd love to see a few changes before I'd return here........but I wouldn't discourage anyone else from going. read more

Today I decided it was time to get out and go to the nearest open restaurant in Happy Valley. I was completely impressed. I was seated in a booth, with no one allowed to sit behind me or in front of me. I was handed a paper menu, that was immediately discarded after I ordered. All employees were wearing masks and gloves, and were very friendly. I got there at 11 when they opened and only a handful of other guests were seated away from others. It was clean and the food was delicious! Their homemade potato chips are amazing, as well as the Turkey sandwich I had on 9 grain bread, easily shared with another person. I will be back. read more

Let me start by saying I don't like to leave negative reviews or rate anything under 4 stars because there are already too many haters out there. However, I trusted the yelp community on this one and I was pretty disappointed. The service itself was great. Our waitress checked in with us pretty regularly and tended to us just fine which is why I'm rating 3 instead of 2. The food on the other hand was 2 stars at best with a 4.5-5 Star price tag. If your looking for somewhere to watch the game and maybe grab a beer, this place will do fine. Pleasantly surprised by this place! We rolled in around 5:15 on a Friday night thinking we'd have a wait for a table. Not only were we seated right away (which honestly, scared us a little), we found out happy hour here goes to 6! Our server was super sweet, knowledgeable and very considerate of our kids. I appreciated that she quietly asked our permission before offering up a second chocolate milk to my son (it's the little things that make a parent happy). Our food came out quickly, was exactly to our specifications, and was delicious. I wouldn't recommend the chips, they are a little thick and too crispy for my taste (we make homemade chips so I may just be biased), but everything else is absolutely return for. The Happy Valley location has done a poor job of meeting my family's meager expectations lately. Two weeks ago we ordered an uncomplicated -- except for one gluten-free eater -- lunch to pick up. The gluten free was just no bun on the burger, but when it was picked up we found it was on a bun. No problem, we'll take it off, but, to their credit, they gave us another bun free burger and told us to keep the original as well. Sounds good so far, right? Except that when we were checking the order to make sure the burger was as ordered, we found a sauce cup for the appetizer with no top! There was sauce spilled on other containers, but we didn't know the extent of the mess until we got the order home. We were understandably confused and wondered how that cap could be forgotten since that dipping sauce was quite liquid. Also, two of the items in our order were salads. Both were unusually warm because they were at the bottom of the bag under the two burgers, mac and cheese, fries . . . all the hot stuff.
