They have really fallen off. We were big supporters of Hop, Skip Drive. We have used them from the very beginning, with our older daughter. However, now with our younger girl it seems like only about half the rides get drivers. If I cannot count on being able to get a driver to take my daughter to an afterschool dance class or sports practice, how can I sign her up and pay for these classes? At this point Hope, Skip Drive is just not reliable. read more

If you a cheap parent planning to use or using HPS this review is not for you.... I was a driver for HSD, I never made more than $14 per ride sometimes I had to wait for the kid out of school or activities for over an hour until the kid finally decided to stop playing and got out or worse I had to go into the place and find the kid, making me spend over two or three hours just for one ride. (parents find HSD easy and cheaper then paying a nanny). The rides where always far from my own location. one time I drove 20 miles to go and pick up a 16 years old kid and the. drop him 2 miles from where he was (Guess why... it's cheaper to use HSD then UBER or LYFT) Also 90%of the kids I drove where over 6 years old. Not to mention that where several times when I even had to drive their parents with them in my car (nothing wrong with that, unless is for their family activities) of course is because it's less expensive than pay for an Uber. if you are in need for a job look for a nanny or manny job instead. at least then you be paid a good decent hourly salary and car expenses. read more

I am impressed with how organized HopSkipDrive is. They called me before I had to pick up my rider to confirm that I was going to be able to do the pick up. They are constantly in communication to ensure the drivers and riders get excellent service! It's safe and I highly recommend it because they do an extensive background check **As a parent I know I can trust HSD to take any children or underage. My first day as a driver I missed one of the exits on the freeway, the app will take you to the drop off location so I did not worried. I always make sure I'm driving safe to make sure my riders get to their destination. I was able to dropped them off on time, safe and everyone was happy. HSD is way safer than other share driver companies. I always ask my riders if the temperature inside is ok and put some music, some teens even whisper sing while I'm driving....makes me feel good because it means they are comfortable with the ride. read more

The service is safe and comfortable since they are overly cautious and do a bunch of safety texts and code words etc But the pricing is RIDICULOUS. I was quoted $24 then pushed confirm and it jumped to $27. I was kinda angry called and got a bunch of excuses. I had no real choice on this day I was working. Plus we really wanted to try them out. The lady was super nice picked her up at school dropped her off at home and my daughter really liked the whole process. She called it "uber for kids". With LIMO/private car service prices only no limo but a Ford Fiesta. My card was charged $36. FOR WHAT? That answer has not been given to me yet. I am FURIOUS at the up charge and in NO WAY did I approve a $12 increase in fare. She took her strait home. I had 3 more rides sche duled for next week. that are ALL cancelled When you estimate a fare at $27 a dollar or 2 maybe in variance. But a 33% increase on a trip that did NOT change its course is outrageous. I'm gonna bother uber to start a "pick up kids" from school option. The service is absolutely terrible! I saw some good reviews about being reliable so I signed up and booked a ride for my child for an emergency ride I needed the following day. They booked a ride and charged my credit card right away. However, after two hours, not only I received any sign up confirmation to their service, but also I haven't received any confirmation of my ride, or any customer service is available online AND over the phone. I called (well before 5pm) but they keep playing the recording of the customer service not being available and so that they will call you back, but my recording keeps being cut off while me speaking. Online support is more useless for an urgent replies. I cannot even delete my credit card info. I am very disappointed with the service. read more

Most of last year I was working some pretty crazy hours and desperately needed my son to get to and from school safely. I did some research and found the website for HopSkipDrive....I was hesitant at first because, well that's my child! The most single most important thing to me in the world! I am so glad I gave them a try! I probably used them more than 30 times and he had maybe 10 different drivers and he loved them all. They always made him feel comfortable. He looked forward to those rides when I was unable to take him. One driver in particular that he looked forward to having more than anyone was Rita Webber! They would talk the whole ride, every ride she gave him, about his favorite topic....PUGS! it always made him so happy and she always remembered that he loved talking about that. I don't believe you can request a particular driver, unless they've changed that in the last 2 months but you can choose whether you'd prefer a female or a male driver, whatever your child is more comfortable with. It is a little pricy for less than 4 miles especially if you need it twice a day most days but you can't put a price tag on your child's safety and happiness!! I will be using them again in the future should I need to. Hopefully you'll get Rita Webber in Mission Viejo if you give them a shot and see how wonderful she is. They all have been terrific and got my son where he needed to be SAFELY! Give them a try if you need that occasional ride for your child because life can get hectic and we all need the help sometimes! Edit: wow I can't believe the negative reviews I was just reading in regards to HopSkipDrive!!! I went back and counted that I used them 36 times in 3 months and not once was my child ever late to school and was always picked up immediately following school. If anything they were always early to pick him up but they were happy to wait in their car while he finished getting ready. Truly surprised by the bad reviews. Well 330 came and no sign of my kids so I called them and was informed of the situation and that another driver wouldn't arrive until 355. Hi Michelle from HopSkipDrive, I read your comment and understand your comment that our situation is unique. Let me explain my frustration so you see that my situation is not unique: 1. If you read the many other poor reviews posted about HSD they are very similar to mine. It is very clear by your 3.5 rating that your service is NOT reliable. The amount of inconsistencies in pick up/drop of times and communication is beyond ridiculous! 2. Just to be sure everyone understands, you are correct that I am not the account holder, BUT I am on the account as is my wife. I have spoken and made changes with HSD over a dozen times. My reviews on here were regarding the changes I made. So, in this situation I am the only one that could write the review. 3. I have spoken with the Supervisor Ellis after the last serious mishap (my daughter was left alone at school, she is 10 yrs old), and it was promised that this would not happen again. After this conversation, it did happen again (see my last review). So, I have not seen these changes, but lets read point number 4... 4. This morning it happened AGAIN?! The driver never showed up at 6:45am to pick up our daughter?! We called and were promised a pick up at 7:20am. You can probable guess what happened, they did not show again... Finally I got ready (after driving back home) to take her to school myself and they showed up at 7:55am. So they showed up 1hr 10min late... Some might ask why we stay with HSD. Well, we have a week left and as Michelle mentioned we are not the account holder. Our foster daughter is in our care, so please understand why I get so upset for HSD leaving her all alone at school... Michelle, please know that another generic reply or trying to shift blame will be received with another review. These reviews will only come if HSD makes any other mistakes regarding my daughter. Your company has continued to shift blame on the County of Santa Clara, my wife and I. After the second incident, Ellis finally took ownership but your reply to my review shifted the blame again. I was SOO excited about Hop Skip Drive when we started using them. It was like a dream come true, great drivers, reliable customer service, all the rides we wanted to get covered got covered. After about 3 rides, we had to cancel a ride because my child got sick. We felt bad, apologized, offered to pay for the ride (we were within their cancellation window so there was no charge), then suddenly, none of our rides ever got picked up again. In fact, we tried to book a ride for a Thursday afternoon 2 weeks in advance and the system said we weren't allowed to book rides because they didn't have enough drivers. Today a ride we had tried to get booked for next week, was picked up, only to be cancelled 6 hours later. We are super bummed because we had such good experiences the first three times, only to be disappointed time and time again after that. read more

When I first started using Hop Skip Drive last year, I loved it. It was so awesome. The drivers were on time, super friendly and the app was easy to use. I loved that you could see who the driver was, what the car looked like, track them on the app, and I enjoyed all the confirmations. The only downside was it was $18 to drive my daughter about 3 blocks. At the time I felt it was worth it. Everything was great until this school year. In September, 1 out of several attempts to get a driver worked. There were several times that drivers were not available, so we were left in a bind. Since September (it is now January) we have not been able to book a ride, it now gives a message on their app and website saying they are not booking rides during the times that I have requested unless I am flexible (even 3.5 weeks away). I am not sure I will even bother trying again. *I suggest paying the drivers more of the fee you charge or offer them incentives. Hard to run a company like this, when busy parents can not rely on your services. read more

Shockingly bad customer service; I requested a booking several hours ahead but they waited until the very last minute to let me know they didn't have a car, by which time I had had to send someone else to pick up my kids, not knowing if this app would also send a car and charge me $50. Booked a ride at 6:55pm for the next morning. Couldn't have booked it after that as the cut off is 7pm. If I cancel this ride at the last minute, I am supposed to pay the full price of the ride because I am "depriving the driver of other work." Because there is just sooooo much work that comes in in the last five minutes - that is just not believable. The driver who snatched up my ride the very second that I posted it. I don't think he was weighing allllllll the other work options. I had to cancel it thirty minutes before the ride. The driver had not left yet for my house. And yet I have to pay the full price for the ride. First of all, canceling late should involve a fee not the full price. Second of all, I was using HopSkipDrive a lot. For the last six months I have used their service at least twice a day five days a week, sometimes four times a day if my child has an after school activity. As one of their best customers, you'd think I could cancel at the last minute once a month or so. But nope. HopSkipDrive couldn't care less about their customers, even their best ones. I do not recommend that anyone who tries to schedule a ride for their child in advance of an hour before the scheduled ride should use this terribly unreliable service. I requested a ride for my daughter to go to her new job while I was at work several days in advance. I was told late Sunday night that there would be no ride for my daughter Monday morning. Tuesday I heard nothing until 8:30 am for a ride requested at 9:30 am. I was already at work and called the owner/manager within 10 minutes of receiving the text to tell him I had to arrange for another ride due to the late notice. He actually had the NERVE to tell me I was going to incur a cancellation fee. Unbelievable. Clearly this is a service for people who are indifferent as to whether a ride will show up and have tons of extra money to throw away at a service that acts like it is run by children. read more

I used HopSkipDrive for the very first time yesterday, and their driver went way and beyond!!! My 6-year-old lost a tooth the moment he got into her car!!! It's only his second tooth he lost. The driver quickly managed to find an empty sandwich baggy in his lunch box, and saved his tooth there so he can have it for the tooth fairy. I am so grateful, only a truly caring mom would do such a thing. I feel like my kids are in good hands with HopSkipDrive. I will definitely use them a lot in the years to come. read more

I have been using Hopskip Drive for over a year, and I must say it was a perfect experience for my daughter and I. Recently Hopskip changed their App a little confusing at first, but with practice I adjusted to the change of the App and the new cut off time for scheduling next day rides. The price per ride was a bit pricey, but for parents who used hopskip frequently we had the options to purchase package rides which in return we were given a price break for purchasing so many rides in advance, but recently I went to purchase a package of rides and to my great surprise Hopskip was no longer offering package rides. I was extremely disappointed because now my daughter's ride averages $17 vs. $12. I totally get the safety of the children is their number priority but at the same Hopskip should have put a package or two together for their frequent riders. read more

Super shitty UI and customer service. As a first time user, I scheduled a ride 18 hours ahead of time. When it was confirmed, I realized it was for the wrong date. I couldn't find a way to edit or cancel the ride from the website apart from the notice on the confirmation that said email support@hopskipdrive.com, so I did just that. If you cancel within 8 hours of the ride, you get charged 50%. I sent three cancellation emails way before the 8-hour cut off, and of course, I don't hear back from them until 3 hours before the ride. Of course. I would never use this service now, knowing that if I had any complaints -- especially with my kids involved!!! -- they wouldn't get resolved im a timely manner. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. read more

We used them for the first time this week and all turned out well. My husband had to work late and HSD was able to pick up and drop off our son to his after school tutor. We were able to use a promo for our first trip so the total was 4 bucks for the ride. Can't do better than that! We will likely use them in the future. read more

I have been using HopSkipDrive for a few weeks now. I use the service once or twice a week when I need help in taking one of my daughters to school. It's definitely a great alternative when you need your kids dropped off or picked up from school or other activities that they may have. So far, the drivers we've had are all amazing! I have been using this service for a few month now and like previous reviews already mentioned, its a hit or miss. We had great drivers, who were on time and also took the suggested route, which we know out of experience, would be the fastes. Even though the route is always the same at the same time of the day, the charges fluctuate a great deal. A few times, drivers have been late and there was nothing customer service did to reduce the fee for the inconvenience. I stopped contacting customer service since they are super unhelpful. Second, a few times they couldn't find a driver and you are scrambling to make arrangements the night before. Too bad. read more

I'm giving the one star as the service was once one I could count on or would at least get a few days notice if a drive couldn't be fulfilled.
