And the smell in the car on the way home, oh my goodness. Pure torture waiting to unwrap them. Then we got home and opened them up, and I was honestly shocked in the best way. There was actually a MEAL on that bread. Not one of those sad sandwiches that's 80 percent lettuce and air. These were loaded. My teenage son even commented on how good his was, and trust me, teen approval is not handed out lightly. The portions were generous, the flavors were bold, and each sandwich was totally unique and delicious. I can confidently say I have found a new favorite sub spot. Total hidden gem if you love a good sandwich that actually fills you up and tastes incredible. I did not grab a shake this time because it was freezing outside, but after seeing all the flavor options on the menu, I will absolutely be trying one next visit. Highly recommend in every aspect. I don't think they take cash so maybe that's why orders are placed through the kiosk. It was the kind of place a man could go when he wanted something honest. Not fancy, not dressed up in pretense, just good food and cold beer. The sign out front didn't proclaim much, but it didn't have to. You walked in and you knew. The burgers were real. Thick, cooked right, and full of flavor like meat ought to be. They didn't fall apart. They held their ground. You bit into one and it tasted like someone in the back gave a damn. They always tasted like that. You could count on it. The beer was cold. Not just cold the way some places say it is, but cold like a river in spring when the snow melts off the mountains and the trout move slow. It hit the back of your throat and made things better. The people working there were like old friends you didn't have to talk to too much. They knew when to come by and when to leave you be. Their friendliness was that authentic type of sincerity that didn't rely on tips to be seen or felt. There was no pretense at Hops and Drops. Just burgers, beer, and good people. Couldn't have ask for a better meal or service. Went to Hop Jack's for the first time with a co-worker. We ordered bbq chicken quesadillas which are to die for. They are sooooo good, really. Then we split the fish tacos which were also great. For dessert we ordered some vodka drinks served in an ice glass with fruit in the bottom. I got Huckeberry and she got grapefruit. Let me tell you these were excellent! I plan on returning next weekend with my family in tow. The selection of food is great and I think it will please my pickiest eater. We ordered a basket of fries for everyone to share while waiting for our food and OMG THE RANCH. We don't know what they do to their ranch here but it was SO GOOD. You have to try it!! Everyone at the table agreed that their food was delicious. Ironically, I didn't even order breakfast lol. I got the fish & chips and they were spectacular! The batter was nice and crispy while the fish inside was perfectly flaky. The tartar sauce was really good with it too. And the portions are HUGE. I couldn't even finish mine and ended up taking the rest home to eat for dinner later, so I basically got two meals out of it. It was super filling and satisfying and still tasted amazing later after throwing in the air fryer. The prices seemed pretty fair too, especially considering how much food you get. I definitely don't mind paying when I'm getting a portion big enough to become another meal later. So yeah... my husband was right and I'm glad he made me come here! When we first walked in, it felt like a classic diner. And it is! In all the good ways. The diner is clean, the coffee is hot and flavorful, and the portions are generous. My husband had the Build Your Own omelet, topped with Jack Cheese. And they did not skimp on the ingredients. The cheese was nice and gooey, and the flavors melded perfectly. I had the French Toast. Again, generous portions, and the slices were thick and perfectly battered. Not soggy, slightly crisp. And the syrup was warmed! Sometimes it is the little things. The bacon was crisp, just how I had ordered it, not limp, and the eggs were cooked to perfection. Our server was Shawna, and she was personable and perfectly attentive. We were seated where we could observe the cooks, and they functioned like a well-oiled machine. All in all it was a good experience, and I would highly recommend. An added bonus: there are glass partitions between the booths. It really helps keep the noise level down. This was much appreciated and I wish more restaurants would do this.
