I am specifically rating just the car wash service. I give them one star if I could give them a negative star. I will.I went in and ran my car through the car wash 2 times for my car to come out dirtier than it came in. Stay away from this car wash service. I have utilized the pre wash that they have outside of the car wash and my car was a lot cleaner before running it through the machine. The clerk told. Me whatever is on my car is causing the residue To appear on my windows. That is not the case because my windows were not like this before I had came here. Extreme cost cutting ownership and management bought their most expensive car wash and nothing came out of those nozzles except for water. Buy the cheapest and then buy their most expensive wash. try if you notice any difference. Suggest to go somewhere else or go to the dedicated independent car washes the charging more but they clean better. I go to Dublin and Pleasanton hand wash once a month. they charge you around $28 which is better than 12 bucks here every week. read more

This is my favorite Shell to get a car wash. Their cheapest car wash is $4.99. Everywhere else the cheapest is $6.99. The staff is also very nice and the store itself is always clean and organized. They also carry single serving Coke Zero's in a plastic bottle. I prefer cans but the little bottle is actually pretty cool. read more

This review is specifically for the car wash. I've been using this one on and off for years.... and I'm a dummy for continuing to expect that maybe, for once in the 18 years I live here, they'll actually take maintaining the apparatus seriously. The nozzles are constantly broken and either don't squirt out water, soap or wax properly. I'm tired of notifying the management. Here's your notification: once a week, CHECK YOUR DAMN CAR WASH TO MAKE SURE IT'S WORKING PROPERLY..... like any business who cares about their customers would do. This Shell location has all the amenities you need... Gas, snacks, beverages and a car wash. There are a good number of stalls so the wait time is usually short to nothing. They have a cool loyalty program if you are a commuter or a frequent filler-upper. Go inside with your receipt and they will add a tag for a discount on your next gas fill up at one of the participating stations. The only warning is that one of the local limo companies used this location to reload all of their vehicles. Be prepared to wait if you pull in right after 10 of their cars (usually in the 4pm-5pm hours). They also will sell you lotto tickets- if you are filling lucky this might be your spot! read more

This station just opened and the pump did not give me a receipt, and the car wash was horribly bad! Someone had to manually wash my windows before I entered the wash (missing my driver's side window), the spinners on the passenger side and in the front did not operate properly, leaving my hood dirty and looking as it it had not been washed at all. I never really review gas stations or fast food chains unless they're awful. So, by piecing together the pieces of the puzzle, you might have correctly come to the conclusion that the Hopyard Shell gas station and car wash is awful. After a long drive to and from Southern California a few weekends back, the front of my white Honda was plastered with dead bugs, so I decided that until I was able to get to Keatley (my regular car wash place), I would try to get most of the unflattering confetti off by running my car through the Shell station after getting gas. First of all, it said that I'd get a dollar off my car wash if I purchased at least 5 gallons of gas. Thank you, SUV, for definitely taking up more than 5 gallons of gas. But WHERE WAS MY DOLLAR OFF?! No biggie, whatever. $10 vs. $9 wasn't going to kill me. So, I drove up to the car wash and punched in my code. The wash told me to DRIVE FORWARD. I inched forward slowly until it said STOP. Then, it told me to DRIVE FORWARD again. Um, okay? By the time it told me to stop for good, I realized that the sensors were off because it'd told me to drive too far forward. The sprayers had already started on the middle of my car and started moving back, so when it began gushing the pink and blue soap and wax on half of my car, I decided that I would move my car back a few inches so the bug-covered front would get some lovin' too. As soon as I inched back, the car wash told me to DRIVE FORWARD again. After displaying the flashing DRIVE FORWARD sign a few times, the entire machine shut down. Completely powered off. I even backed up to the code box to punch in my code again, but even that was off. Thoroughly annoyed, I drove out with the bright pink and blue clown vomit on half of my white car and parked near the air and water station. I walked into the shop and told the guy behind the counter (who really looked like he couldn't care less about life) that the car wash had stopped working. "No, it hasn't. It works." "Actually, it stopped while my car was in there." "No it didn't. It's fine." "Dude, there's SOAP on my car. Do you want to see it?" "I don't want to look at your car." At this point, I was ready to walk back outside, scoop up a handful of pink and blue soap, and hurl it in his face. He told me that another station attendant/mechanic would look. The nicer guy looked out the window and said, "Yup, there's soap on her car. Give her another code. I'll fix it, sorry." Why thank you for the apology and offering to DO YOUR DAMN JOB. The guy behind the counter took my old receipt and gave me a new code for the car wash, and I was hoping that he'd get a papercut from printing it, but he didn't. Screw you, Shell, for first of all jipping me a dollar, second for the janky car wash, and lastly for your awful employee. Even though the car wash worked better the second time around, I'll never come back to your sorry station. *Note: I wish I would've taken a picture of my car, not for evidence but for hilarity's sake. DON'T GET YOUR CAR WASHED HERE! It seems like a simple $5 car wash to go with a fresh tank of gas but do NOT be tempted, you car could never be filthy enough to justify the abuse it will take in this wash. I opted for the $8 wash, advertised with a wax and color conditioning. The dryer didn't dry the car, resulting in me having to get out in my nice work clothes and towel dry the car myself. This is when I realized 2 big issues: 1. The towels were so rough, I could practically hear my paint job screaming in pain. 2. Some part of the wax/conditioning left small, super sticky globs of residue all over my car. Couldn't scrape it off with my finger, and then it was so sticky it instantly attracted every particle of dirt and dust onto my finger tip. Now my car has polka-dotted sticky dirt globs all over it. $7 for a car wash isn't bad... but this place was a disappointment. When I pulled up, I wasn't expecting much but I really needed a car wash so I decided to give it a try. There's a bucket and a squeegee next to the pay station so you can clean your own windows while you wait for the car in front of you to finish. You then drive to the center of the area, turn off your engine while your car is being cleaned, and then drive slowly away as the dryers dry your car. All I can say about this place is, rude rude rude. I walked in looking to buy a gift card. I walked in, the guy behind the counter looked at me, made eye contact, and kept talking with the other guy behind the counter. I did a quick browse of the store (it was obvious I was looking for something) and didn't find what I was looking for. But no one stopped talking to ask if I needed help. I just left. I stopped for fuel, a pit stop and some snacks. The store is very nice with a good variety and selection and very clean. The cashier was very helpful and friendly. The restroom was extremely clean and much nicer quality than you expect for a gas station. I will make sure to stop here in the future when I'm in the area. This Shell Station has a roomy pump area that allows you to easily maneuver through the area. The staff inside are always nice & friendly. The car was is reasonable for a gas station car wash & they always have clean towels available to dry your car off. They also have a vacuum to clean out your car & an air machine for your tires. This is my go to gas station on Hopyard/Dougherty (especially since AMPM and their cheap gas are no longer there). read more

I stopped at the Hopyard Shell this afternoon to fill up with gas. This is normally where I fill up before I hit the freeway. I like this station because of its access to the freeway and it's so much cleaner than the other stations around. I noticed this afternoon that the new carwash is now open for business. Since I haven't washed my car for over a month, I decided to splurge and get the "Ultimate Car Wash". It's $10.99 with a fuel purchase, but well worth the extra couple of bucks I think. I was frankly surprised how nice the new car wash is. All bright and shiny and the results on my SUV were clearly better than the old wash. The other thing I like about this station is they have free cloth towels so you can completely dry your car if you want to take the time. This is about as close to a hand wash you are going to get without spending an hour washing your car. They also have vacuum cleaners if you are interested in cleaning the inside of your car. I normally don't give 5 star ratings, but I was really impressed with Hopyard Shell's new car wash. read more
