When I moved in, there were spiderwebs and dead bugs everywhere and now Im being told that I need to clean them up, paint the entire place, and so on in order to get my deposit back and not accrue additional fees. Considering that the space was literally used to store my stuff for three weeks since I couldnt actually work in there, I find it hard to believe that theres a laundry list of issues that now need to be remedied to avoid charges. Before doing so we double checked with the manager on the paint situation. Two different managers told us not to worry about it, there would be no charge. Then a month later we received a bill for $550! (It somehow cost $550 to paint a tiny 8x14 room?!?) Well they kept our security deposit. I reached out to the management office about the situation and they replied with a surprisingly hostile letter basically saying screw off and don't try taking legal action. They headache wasn't worth the $500 so I guess they won, but it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

Good on the building owner for making this switch. For context, Blanton Turner was in charge prior and I had the absolute WORST move-in/living experience you could imagine (August 2023). I am sure some Broadcast residents felt happy long ago under PREVIOUS BT agents (Keith also managed a previous apt of mine and he did a fantastic job...but he's no longer working in the field and seemed to be an amazing outlier with BT), so current residents who did NOT ACTUALLY MOVE-IN under the latest BT management in 2023 may not be aware of the dreadful state of affairs for new residents (that have since been rectified by Madrona). Things Madrona fixed during their 1st week: 1) Had a locksmith come out to fix a broken stairwell door. This door had to be propped open and the knob would not turn or open. Talk about a fire hazard. It's fixed now though, so don't worry! 2) Had the stairwell carpets professionally cleaned. I actually didn't know this was possible! There were numerous puddles of dog urine on every landing prior to this cleaning. It looks like a new carpet was installed! 3) MADE A SECURE PACKAGE ROOM!!! For anyone new to the Seattle area, package theft is VERY common. I have had 0 issues under Madrona, but I'm sure a few cases will invariably arise here and there. No matter where I live on The Hill, this is an issue. Under BT, WE HAD NO ACCESS to the overwhelming majority of our packages (save for a handful that can fit in the small Luxer locker) from Fri afternoon to Mon afternoon (management usually left directly after stuffing the packages in the office on Friday). One time, I was left waiting for my medication all weekend! If I had a delivery at 12 in the afternoon on a Friday, I'd miss it if I went looking for it by 12:30. BT also had this complete lack of access to one's packages as far back as a decade ago...sigh. They don't seem to change with the times. Literally no one else operates this way. Stay as far away from BT as you can. Other issues Madrona fixed: 4) Had the mildew professionally cleaned off EVERY balcony. I also fully expect them to keep up with this cleaning periodically. This was huge for me! I asked the BT agent during my tour if they would have this cleaned before I moved in. I got a (fake) enthusiastic "yes!!!" yet moved in to see the same massive chunk of mildew that had likely been sitting there for possibly 7 years. I have a condition called MCAS, where I have severe allergies (up to anaphylaxis) to many foods, fragrances, and mold/mildew. My doctor has advised me to stay away from mold/mildew. I realize mildew will grow back EVENTUALLY, but no one should expect me to risk cleaning that off myself, esp when I was up front about my condition. I legit need an EpiPen, so BT's lack of care was really frustrating and, honestly, concerning. 5) Had the exterior windows professionally cleaned. 6) Madrona is HIGHLY responsive to emails. BT literally never answered ANY emails/phone calls. I only knew I had secured my apt 3 days prior to move-in, after calling the office over and over again. Imagine if I'd had to cancel my movers!? You can imagine my panic! Also, Madrona's office is literally a 1 minute walk away from Broadcast. If you miss them during office hrs over at Broadcast, they will be super easy to reach at their official location. I have to say though, I have never needed to reach them in person BECAUSE they are highly responsive VIA email. 7) Fixed our water bills so they were no longer arriving in the mail at incredibly random times, after we had already paid the small online service fee for rent. P.s. the service fee was higher under BT (it's less than a dollar for Madrona). Now we can pay BOTH water/rent bills at the same time and not wonder when our next water bill will be arriving. 8) THE PEOPLE! Charlotte, Andrea, Chad, and STEVE are all AMAZING! Super personable, professional, reliable and timely. Which brings me tooooo.... 9) TIMELY maintenance requests fulfilled. BT literally had NO MAINTENANCE STAFF ON HAND FOR 4 months after I moved in. I was in utter shock, considering how many things were broken BEFORE I moved in. I was pleasantly surprised when Chad came out to fix my breaker the VERY 1ST WEEK Madrona took over. He also fixed the handful of other residents' breakers in need of repair work for months (hopefully not longer, honestly), so you won't be moving in with the same issues I faced. 10) Professional cleanings on a regular basis. I always see a friendly cleaning agency in here cleaning the common areas and the apts currently up for lease. I had to wash my clothes in an unleased apt (bc BT left me a toxic moldy washing machine) and the dustiness/uncleanliness of the unused rooms was visible. That's definitely not an issue now, far from it! Broadcast finally feels like home!

Jessica Gustelius is the selling agent for a property my mother is purchasing in Bothell Washington. The sell of the house will be cash and is contingent upon the sell of an existing home, which is also in closing. My mother has been to this home two times: during the open house and during the inspection. Jessica Gustelius removed the lock box from the exterior of the house, after the inspection. Our agent, the buying agent of this home, suggested that he would personally pick-up the key from the Seattle office and return it in the same day, in order for my mother to measure, and was denied. It is not contractual, but considered an industry courtesy to allow the buyer of the home access to measure for furniture, appliances, etc, before closing. Jessica Gustelius refused my mother access until the contractual obligation, 5 days before closing. In my family we have sold our homes many times and we have never heard of the professional courtesy not being extended to the buyer. It will be extremely challenging to get appliances in time for my recently widowed mother's move into the home. Logistics when moving are challenging as it is, but not being allowed access to the home to measure, in order to purchase appliances for delivery around the move in date, really adds to the stress and anxiety of the entire ordeal. Since the purchase of this home is contingent on getting the funds from the sell of an existing property, I am not sure what Jessica Gustelius is trying to achieve. The outcome as of today, May 19th, 2015 is a dissatisfied buyer and someone who will warn people from ever using this agent for future transactions. Professional courtesy goes along way in doing business.

I only intended to leave an honest review of our experience with IBA. I stand by my one-star review. As our broker, their job was to represent us and get us the best deal possible--not just push a deal through. The buyers already had their own agent. It became clear that closing the transaction quickly was the priority--not our best interests. That's not just poor service--it's unethical. Mortgage lenders need to know whether they're financing a home or a business. Blurring those lines to push a deal through isn't just questionable--it's potentially harmful. We were not properly represented, and we paid the price for it. I recently posted an honest review about my experience with IBA and noticed they still have a 5-star rating. I probably wouldn't have checked back--except I received a letter from an attorney representing IBA. Here's what it said: "They are chagrined that you posted an online review of IBA suggesting otherwise, and we demand that you remove the review you recently made of IBA NW Business Brokers on Google." To be clear, I shared a truthful account of my own personal experience. I did not name the broker involved, nor did I exaggerate any details. It was a simple, honest, one-star review summarizing what was, for me, a very disappointing experience. I don't appreciate being pressured to remove it. A company that can't accept fair criticism without resorting to legal threats raises serious concerns. There are many business brokers in the Northwest--I'd encourage others to do their research and choose one who values transparency and accountability. Original review: I recently worked with a broker from IBA to sell our business and home together, as the business operated on our property. My daughter and I had one chance to sell the small business we built and dedicated ourselves to for ten years, and unfortunately, we were met with disregard and a lack of respect throughout the entire process. I really appreciated how she listened and truly made me feel like a valued client as we toured homes together. The condo I purchased had multiple offers, some even higher than what I had offered and all cash, but she miraculously was able to get my offer accepted. Six years later today, Reba just closed on that same condo for nearly DOUBLE what I purchased it for. In fact, the sale price was a significant record-breaking increase from the last unit that sold in my complex, and we had multiple offers well over asking price. The monetary value I received from the sale of the condo was outstanding, but there are several other things Reba does that truly differentiates herself from other agents, such as covering professional house cleaning, window and gutter cleaning, professional photography, 3D photography tour, staging, a 1-year home warranty, four hours of contractor labor, and a pre-inspection. All of these are incredible, but paying for a pre-inspection (which normally costs anywhere from $450-650) is a huge advantage to have when buyers are viewing the property. Reba is the rockstar, but she also has a fantastic team that supports her to ensure the home sale or purchase goes smoothly. I worked closely with Rachel who helped me find vendors to prep my condo for the sale and recommended movers. She helped manage the vendors and scheduling, including staging, photography, cleaning, and more. Reba also pulled in Sarah Jean from Paper Pusher Pro to help manage the transaction, so when I finally closed, I knew everything was handled. It was really nice to be hands off, so I could enjoy my vacation knowing that Team Reba had everything taken care of.

It's been there for MONTHS, and has of late been tearing and bowing and creating a hazard and generally making the otherwise very nice building look like shit. Shelly didn't reply to our questions about when that work will be done. When we followed up 8-9 days later, she scolded me that she HAD replied. (She hadn't). She then offered the work "will be done when it's done" and said that since we "are aware of the flooring, it should be easy to just walk carefully through that area." She then refused to provide me the contact information for the owner of our property and took offense at me telling her she has a shitty attitude.
