TL;DR - I was the customer from heck, but all 8 of the Horizon personnel I worked with were friendly, patient, and incredibly professional. They bent over backwards to earn my trust and confidence, and delivered superior results! Our furnace stopped working the day after Thanksgiving. I called Horizon in the morning and they had a tech, Shawnte, to our house shortly after noon. Shawnte was great. Very friendly and very fast. He quickly advised us that the furnace shut off because a roll out switch had been triggered. This condition typically happens when the heat exchanger has been cracked, and it can result in very high levels of toxic gases in the flue. I watched as Shawnte checked the exhaust gases with a probe, and the readings were in the thousands of parts per million when they should have been below 50. Shawnte's boss, Carl, then came out with a camera designed to check for cracks in the heat exchanger. I sat with them as they inspected the heat exchanger and found a series of cracks exactly where they predicted they would be. They had a sales person, Rebecca, out to me that evening. She put a very thorough system estimate in front of me, based on the options I wanted. She answered almost every question I asked, and, when she didn't know the answer, she called Carl, the service manager who had come out to my house, to walk me through the details of the system, Horizon's parts and labor guarantees, and how their installs differentiate them from other HVAC companies in the region. Later, when I decided I couldn't foot the entire cost of the very nice system I had Rebecca spec out for me, she came all the way out to my house AGAIN (on a Sunday!!!) to help me pare down when I was seeking, sweetened the deal with discounts, and even had me speak with her sales manager, Cameron. Keep in mind that my conversation with Cameron happened at 7:30pm on a Sunday night! In the end, I agreed to a system that was still very nice, much more efficient than the system I already had in my house, but without all the bells and whistles I thought I could afford. Horizon had a team out *the very next day* to replace my system, and the team, Adam, Tim, Sean, and Dominic were just incredible. Friendly, informative, and patient. They even stopped in the middle of their work to answer questions I had about the system they were installed, etc. They worked for 12 hours to get it all done that day, and Tim and Adam stayed late to walk me through all the ins and outs of my new system and thermostat. We have had a terrible experience with Horizon. I waited to post this in the hopes that our issues would be resolved by now. People make mistakes and I will always give someone the opportunity to correct it, but it's been over a month now. Our heat would not turn on back in early November. They sent a brand new inexperienced tech to look at our system. That did not go well. After a 2nd tech came out, they determined we would need a new boiler. They got to our house at 7AM for install. At 11PM they still were not finished and I needed to get up for work the next morning, so we asked them to please wrap up and leave - just make sure we at least have hot water in the morning. The heat was only working on 2 out of 3 floors in our house when they left. No one called to follow up or send someone back out to double check everything. They left a mess in our basement. Melted metal pieces and spilled oil stains all over the carpet. My basement currently still wreaks of oil and this is where I do my laundry. We called the office several times and they kept saying someone would call us back. We reached out to our sales rep who answered immediately. We sent him the pictures of the carpet in our basement. We finally heard back from a customer service rep. They sent a tech back out to get the heat working properly on all floors. The customer service rep said he hadn't received the pictures from our sales rep and asked us to send them to him. Annoying that they don't communicate with one another, but fine, we sent the pictures again. He said he would schedule a contractor to come out and replace the carpet in the basement. Which is great, but also a huge inconvenience since we'll have to move everything out of our basemenet in order for the carpet to be replaced. Nothing else was offered to us after everything we've experienced. My husband sent several emails following up on the carpet replacement but no response. A random person from the office called us today and said they have been trying to reach us. We have received no emails or phone calls/voicemails until today. Overall extremely poor communication and customer service. I hope they will be able to resolve this for us soon. read more

I guess I am at PART II of the 2for1 heat/ac tune-up deal. I am sorry to report that as good as the 1st visit in January went with servicing my heating unit, this recent visit Weds, June 3rd for my air conditioning tune up was not very good at all. It seemed that the service tech was only interested in pointing out every problem and his high cost remedy. He was not to concerned with my a/c tune up. We discovered the drain pipe was clogged and that it should be adjusted so water can run downhill on a greater angle to help with drainage. The service tech then suggested a drain alarm is needed to alert me of any future clogging or leakage. My thinking was $299 for an alarm? Let's just adjust the pipe and save the money and leak! I was then told the fan and capacitor on the outside unit needed replacing. The fan was $1,300 and the capacitor was $300. The capacitor is what starts the fan/compressor. The test on the capacitor read that it will malfunction any minute, any hour, any day! The fan may go longer but who knows. I looked up the parts online. Wow! I did sign off on the capacitor and only hope it truly was installed and the faulty one was removed. I passed on the fan. I felt RIPPED OFF! The tech was gone as soon as I paid him. After checking the thermostat, the air filter inside, and the drain pipe, I called the Horizon Services office and voiced my dissatisfaction. I was asked if I would like a refund on the $89 2for1 heat/ac tuneup charge. Of course I said yes! As of today, I haven't seen anything Today is Friday June 26th. I received a call from Marissa who is a Customer Service Manager with Horizon. She was extremely apologetic and assured me that her company will make right any problem or situation that I was dissatisfied with. She told me the credit would be taken care of. I am not sure how long that takes, but I haven't received it as of today. I will update this review as that occurs. Okay folks here we are July 16th! This is my 3rd update on this company. I did see the credit come through as promised. My system is working. I am very happy with the results. read more

Hottest day of the year and the AC went up at 3am. I went online and set an appointment (at 3am) and 6:30am I got a call confirming my appointment. My service technician Matt was the best! He was very friendly and explained everything he was troubleshooting. After he got the AC back up and running, he inspected the rest of the system. I never felt rushed like he had other calls to go on. My unit was 21 yrs old so after Matt explained my unit in full detail, I decided to take the next step a speak to Jonathan (salesman) about replacement. He came next day! He was just as friendly and helpful as Matt and I felt no pressure to buy. They had the unit I wanted and was able to install next day! Even credit me back the money from my service call. The installation team was amazing also. They covered my hardwood floors, cleaned up behind themselves and were just the nicest guys. If I had a question they would stop and talk to me and explain everything they were doing. I have used other big name companies in the past and Horizon was the best. I would highly recommend at least give them call and let them wow you. read more

This is such a great company! I wasn't sure at first because of the slightly (and I mean slightly after haggling) high price but this company went above and beyond my expectations. They installed a new A/C and furnace for me. They also put in a return into my back room. Whomever did my a/c 30 years ago didn't know what they were doing so they walked into a nightmare of a situation. Even though it was tough and took 2 days instead of the quoted 1 day, they made sure I was completely satisfied with everything they did. Just so you know they only install Lennox units. According to my dad who was in the HVAC field for years it's a great unit. They gave me a 10 year transferable warranty on parts, compressor, AND labor! Everyone else I talked to (BGE, Michael and son, and A.G. Mathews) had 2 year labor with option to buy 5 or 10 years. I would highly suggest this company to everyone. Install people were very helpful and explained everything they did. They also gladly answered the many questions I had. In conclusion, take a chance on this company, you'll be happy you did! read more

The wires to my air conditioning were cut accidentally on the hottest day so far. I called Blue Dot first thing in the morning and got a service time for the same day between 4 and 8. Great, right? No. They never showed and never called. I called them to find out what happened. They were supposed to have the tech call me back. two day's later I am still waiting for a call. My elderly mother, daughter and I waiting in the sweltering heat all day for nothing. The Next Day I called Horizon and again got a service time for the same day between 4 and 8. At 4:20 they pulled up. Our service man Chris was so polite and professional. He respected the Covid guidelines and wore a mask when he had to enter the house and when he could he walked around the town house group to get to the air conditioner. He answered all questions with completeness and patience. He was such a pleasure, we ended up getting a service contract with Horizon. They have our business and Blue Dot will NEVER get our business. Last week I scheduled an appointment with Horizon Services to clear a clogged drain in my kitchen sink connected to a garbage disposal and dishwasher. The plumber was excellent and immediately understood the issues. Unfortunately there were some issues with our house and plumbing that introduced some serious liabilities and as such would have required some very expensive and extensive work to bring the house and plumbing into compliance. However, the plumber and company put customer service and ethics above profits. He gave me excellent advice which ultimately guided me to resolve my plumbing issues with very little cost. Because the plumber did not actually perform the work required to clear the clogged drain, he did not charge me for the service call. As such I strongly endorse Horizon Services as an honest and honorable company that I can strongly recommend and will call them in the event I have future requirements that fall into the scope of the services that they provide. read more

I recently had a new furnace installed by the Horizon team, but unfortunately it wasn't working for the first 2-3 days, imagine in this terrifying cold weather(Jan 24-27th). I initially hoped it would resolve itself, but eventually I had to call Horizon to take a look. Kamal Alreichan came by and immediately identified the issue, it turned out to be a loose wire. I was surprised that a brand-new system hadn't been fully tested and delivered in working condition, but I really appreciate that Horizon took responsibility for the problem. Kamal fixed the issue right away and got everything working properly. On top of that, my driveway was not drivable due to snow, yet he still walked in carrying his ladder and tools without any complaint. That was very kind and professional of him. Horizon Services has been servicing our heating, air conditioning and plumbing needs for over 7 years and they have been great as far as recommending items that need to be fixed before they totally go south and cause disaster. The technician's work ethic is clean, neat, and they respect your home by putting down drop clothes and covers on their shoes as soon as they enter the doorway of your home. My husband and I feel that they are the best company that we have ever found to maintain our HVAC and plumbing. When we had a backed up toilet, they came out within that day to get things fixed and get us back on track. When they made a error on an appointment in the winter for our HVAC cleanup, they made good by giving us a complimentary spring cleanup for the Air Conditioning. I was in bad shape one evening with some old plumbing in my basement that decided to break. My master shutoff value was stuck open and had I broken it trying to close it off I would have been in a HUGE problem. I called Horizon and a fellow named Ryan came out quickly, driving all the way from Delaware, to get me sorted out. It took most of the next day but man, he did an AMAZING job and was really great to work with under challenging conditions. What was once a broken valve and a beat up pressure reducer now looks like something out of a rocket ship with pressure gauges and very easy to use quarter turn handles which will ensure that I can always turn off the water if/when I need to. The overall experience was fantastic and I highly recommend Horizon if you need plumbing work done. read more

We called because 7 prior plumbers never returned our call or stood us up (len the plumber) They were very responsive and up front with pricing, the plumber came and exactly what we needed done with snaking our kitchen drain. Our only complaint was it made a mess in our cabinet and the plumber never attempted to clean it up. No real biggie as I need to change filters under there anyway and it will be alright. We will definately use them again. I received a call today from Horizon stating that I should have not had to clean up what was left from the plumber. They are refunding half of the cost, now this is customer service and we will deal with Horizon exclusively going forward. I would highly recommend their service to anyone! read more

We had just moved into our new home and were experiencing drainage problems in out kitchen sink. I hesitantly called Horizon thinking that they would come out do some simple procedure and charge me an arm and a leg to do it. NOT SO!! Mike Shelley arrived as scheduled and immediately put on his orange booties so he didn't mess up our new carpet. He fixed the problem so quickly and efficiently that I was surprised and shocked that it took so little time. I would definitely recommend Horizon to my friends and neighbors, especially is they ask for Mike! He was courteous, professional, prepared, knowledgeable and fair. My furnace stopped working on a cold, November, Friday evening. After I contacted Horizon, their technician arrived early Saturday morning, quickly diagnosed the problem, and explained my options. Since my furnace was 20 years old, I opted for a new system. The tech was able to get the furnace working for the short term. The sales person came Sunday morning, and provided a thorough explanation of available systems. The installation team came early Monday morning, with the new system completely in and immaculate clean up provided by noon. Every person I dealt with from Horizon was extremely professional with excellent communication skills. I highly recommend Horizon for any HVAC needs. read more

It was time for the annual A/C tune-up; I called to set up an appointment and made one for about a month later. A day or two before the appointment, I received a call from Horizon pushing it back another month...not a problem for me. The day finally arrived and when I opened my door, lo and behold, my favorite Horizon tech on my doorstep! Since it was now August, I got two service calls in one...plus a thorough cleaning of the A/C coil which was pretty dirty. So now I don't need my "Winter" tune-up and can wait until next May or June to schedule the next "Summer" tune-up. After calling BGE and being told that their first appointment was Oct 6, I then calling Roto Rooter and being told that it would cost $750 to clear my clogged kitchen sink drain, I called Horizon at 9:30 PM and they scheduled their technician for $149 for the next day. The tech, Jada Patterson, arrived on time, in uniform, worked for almost 2 hours but was unable to clear the drain due to tree roots blocking the drain pipe. He said that since he was unable to clear the drain, there would be no charge. I was very impressed with my total experience with Jada and the office personnel. Received a coupon for air condition service in 2016 for $49.00 to service our air condition. Called and they were very nice and had it set up real soon. Was very happy with service have not had any problems with my air condition as hot as it has gotten some days this summer. Called in July for them to service again this year 2017. Very nice to talk with and a appointment was set up. The best part of this visit was it was FREE. can you believe that? BGE Home has become difficult to work with so figured I would try Horizon for our furnace check-up and possible contract for heat & AC. The appointment was easy to make (got to a live person quickly who set up an appointment within a reasonable amount of time - not 4 months out). They called day before to confirm and day of. Matt showed up on time and spent a respectable amount of time checking out the gas furnace. Left a report of his findings. Showed up on time (a BIG plus). Even wiped down the unit which being in a basement was dusty. So needless to say I placed my contract with them, hopefully such good service continues! read more

I purchased a new HVAC system. The installation crew arrived on time and donned PPE. They covered their shoes and entered my home. The installation process was clearly explained to me. They worked continuously until the process was completed. Throughout the installation, they answered all my questions. When they finished, they explained how the humidifier works and how and when to change the air filter. They showed me to program the thermostat, and gave me all the product literature for my records. I'm thoroughly satisfied that I purchased a high quality product from an excellent company that will back up their product. read more
