Horizon installed an air conditioning unit at my daughter's home 3 years ago with a 10 year warranty. While the AC comes on and produces cool air, her home never actually cools down as the AC freezes due to inadequate ductwork. A technician came out to service the unit approximately 10 days ago and identified the aforementioned issue. My daughter is selling her home and needs to have the AC functioning properly. My daughter and I waited a few days for Horizon to call and schedule the repair but we heard nothing. Since that time we have called countless times and have been bounced around with no solid answers. The last person we spoke with just did not seem to care. I'm writing this review because of the price point that Horizon charged me for replacing my garbage disposal under my sink. I decided to buy the unit myself from Home Depot hoping to save some money. I paid $199 for the replacement unit. However, when the (nice/polite) technician arrived he charged $407 just to remove the old unit and install the new one, supposedly including the military discount and senior discount. If I had known this, I would've gone on you tube and done it myself. It took him about 35 minutes to complete the job, so that's basically $700/hr. That's disgusting and very unfair. Thats more than I ever made per hour and I'm a medical professional; saving lives every shift. Never again. Either shop around or learn the technique on you tube and do it yourself. read more

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Called bc I had a drop in water pressure with my hoses. Office manager sets up an estimate for the next day. Tech comes out. Gets out of his truck and says nothing. I say "hey" and start explaining the issues I am having, walking him to the hose. He asks nothing/says nothing on replys with "uhuh". I get done telling all I can and let him know I have a work call, but let me know if he needs anything. His first word to me "ok". I get a call less than 10 mins later to come outside and meet him. He tells me, "IDK your hose has pressure. Don't know whats wrong with it." I ask, "do you think the hose itself is clogged." ,, "yeah maybe". I am relieved because I was worried it would be pricey. Then ask why the front hose would lose pressure to and turn that on for him. "I dont know". I am just standing there completely confused. I thought the whole point of the estimate was to find out what the issue was and provide a price to fix it. I awkwardly say ok and goodbye and go inside and call the manager. The office manager is really receptive and polite and tells me she is emailing the plumbing manager as we speak. I get a call 1-2 hours later from the plumbing manager. I explain the experience, he laughs about Jackson not speaking or saying hello. I did tell him I didn't think it was funny, it felt kind of rude. He tells me "I just know Jackson, it would be weird if he got excited." I explain I didn't need him to be excited but a greeting, follow up, asking questions, providing the service he is there for would have been more than great. I continue, and at the end he doesn't apologize, doesn't find anything wrong with what happened and asks, "what do you want?". I am kind of stunned, because I would expect a manager to not be ok if an employee is sent out to provide a service (Ie and estimate) and didnt perform one, was rude to the customer, and didn't check for any possible issues. I tell him I would have been good to go with them again, but he didn't seem to think anything was wrong and didn't even apologize so I don't think they would provide good service. He doesn't apologize for any wrong doing but tells me he's sorry I "felt that way" / that I felt I didn't have a good experience. Not that it was a bad experience and he was sorry, but that it was my feelings. I tell him that I didn't get an estimate which was what Jackson was supposed to come out and provide and it cost them business, bc I absolutely would have proceeded if he did and it was fair price, with an ounce of respect/human decency. He gets defensive, gets very rude. I just tell him, basically thats not ok way to handle business, again "I dont know what you want." is all he will say. I can't believe this boys a manager talking to customers like this and tell him have a day to end the chat. He tells me to "have the day I DESERVE" trying to get one last jab and hangs up on me. -1000/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND. STAY AWAY!!! My HVAC system broke. I had a couple people come do an estimate. There consultation guy said they do 24/7 service which is a lie. I paid $15k for them to install a brand new unit on the inside and outside. The installation occurred on 1/28/26. It is now 2/24/26 ... LESS THAN A MONTH LATER AND THEY HAD TO COME OUT 5 TIMES TO FIX SOMETHING!!! This last time, I told them they need to uninstall it and I will take my services elsewhere. A technician will be out tomorrow and they are escalating my uninstallment request to management. This dont make no sense. I wish I never went with them but I honestly didn't have any other choice either. My unit completely broke the Saturday of the snow blizzard. Horizon isn't the company it once was, avoid. I just had a service call today and was thoroughly unimpressed by the technician & Horizon. To start with the previous home owner had installed a UV "air purification device" which is laughably ineffective at doing anything but burning energy. He claimed the system was no longer working and that I needed a new one. Strike one. Strike two was calming that my system (blower fan) was dirty and was putting dirty air into my house. I run labatory grade air quality sensors in my home so I know for a fact this was BS, but he made a show of turning his cell phone light on it and vaugely gesturing to the blower fan. Strike three: He didn't bother even to replace the furnace filter which costs like $10. Did I just get a bad tech? Unlikely, he informed me that as of 2025 Horizon is now lumping AC & Water Heater Maintence, etc into a single package so now you cant just get them to service your HVAC unit annually by itself anymore without paying over $100 more for services you likely don't need. To clarify, they used to have an affordably priced HVAC only plan, now you have to pay about 200 for 2x individual service calls twice a year. In summary a company that has this little respect for it's customers isn't one I'd recommend doing business with. There is more to say here about this particular service call but in the interest of time I would say please look elsewhere for a company that is smaller that isn't out to solve every problem by replacing your entire HAVC system price gouging you every step of the way. read more

My Outdoor unit of my air conditioning system stopped working during the hottest days of 2024. I called the company that installed the unit and was told the following week was the fastest they could get to Me. I called numerous other places with the same results, you will have to wait until next week. I called Horizon and was told that we could do it tomorrow. I was absolutely amazed. Then they called me back and said, they had a. Cancellation and can do it today. Tech came out, looked at the unit and told me the capacitor was gone and needed to replace it. I've been a customer for over 9 years, had total hvac installed, multiple plumbing work done including tankless water heater. I've had a service plan throughout. But lately they have been 1. difficult to contact. 2. When I do I am placed on an outsourced team. 3. They are disorganized and I get different responses from them each time. 4. The recent incident is they were supposed to do my heater maintenance on November 7. They never showed up. When I called they claimed they called multiple times and left messages. ( btw this has happened before) normally when they are coming to service they send an email and text telling me how long and who is coming, received neither. For years I have paid for a yearly "Priority Partner Plan" with Horizon Services; and during that time, have paid Horizon well over $33,000 in purchases and labor. My recent contact with Horizon for the purchase of a new heater and air conditioner says, in part, that I am a "Preferred Customer" which entitles me to priority service (excuse me, I have to pause here to have a good laugh--even though the joke is on me.) But that is only one of the exaggerations that Horizon uses in order to make themselves look good. I received two emails from Horizon--one dated February 18, 2025 and one dated February 19, 2025 advising me not to "skip" my SPRING A/C Tune-Up and saying "Let's prepare your AC for the summer." On February 27, 2025 I called and asked for an appointment to have my air conditioner "Tuned-Up for the summer" as stated in their emails to me. I was told that the first available date for the tune-up would be August 19. That is not a tune-up to prepare my A/C for the summer--that is a tune-up that takes place when the summer is over!! When I complained--immediately and not at my request--I was told that a manager would call me within the next two hours--actually, the lady repeated several times that a manager would call me. That was 3:00 p.m. on February 27. I am writing this at 3:00 p.m. on March 1 and no one has called me back. Seems to me that customer satisfaction is not really one of Horizon's main goals. Oh yes, last summer when the temperature was 85 to 95 degrees outside, our A/C stopped working. I immediately called Horizon for service during regular business hours and was told that "there is no way" anyone could come out that day--that I would have to wait until the next day between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Seems to me that same day service is not really one of Horizon's main goals. The last time I complained to a manager from Horizon, we agreed that he would credit my AmEx card for about $900. Days later my card was credited for about half that amount. If someone from Horizon is reading this message, please do not insult me by telling me again that you are sorry and by giving me the phone number of your Customer Relations Manager. I have been there before and done that. You see, I can't reach your Customer Relations Manager if no one at that number answers the phone and if no one at other Horizon phone numbers will help me or let me talk to her. If you really try, you can find out who I am. I am still waiting for a call from "a manager" although I know better now than to hold my breath. read more

Price gouged. $900 to replace a single 90deg elbow in an easily accessible location for a gas supply line. During the home selling process, an inspection uncovered a minor leak at a 90deg elbow supplying gas to my water heater. I called BGE out, they shut off gas at our meter and said call a plumber. After calling a few plumbers, Google found me Horizon and I'm thankful they were able to come out same day. When the responding Tech arrived, I explained BGE confirmed the small leak, had shut off the gas, and pointed to the elbow. He grabbed a step ladder from his truck and within 45 mins had replaced the 1" elbow and departed. Bill was $900. read more

Where do I even begin. I would give this 0 stars if I could. On Tuesday our furnace stopped working and so was our heat. Was 55-58 degrees in our house. I was at work and my fiancé called Horizon to see what was wrong. They told her the furnace needs to be replaced and you should get the A/C done as well bc you will save some money. Also you are leaking carbon monoxide. So they give us the quote... $26,000. Something didn't set right with me, seemed WAY too much. So I called the guy who was here and I told him no we're not getting services. He said what if I drop the price? Excuse me? Why not just give me your best price right off the bat? That night I had a friend come over, bc he said let me take a look, just in case. It was a loose fuse... So you were gonna charge me $26,000 for a replacement but it was just a fuse issue. 15 min later I had heat and my house got back to 68 degrees. Also had another HVAC professional come out the next day, and he said you have another year on your furnace, also you DONT have a carbon monoxide leak. I would get it replaced by next winter, $7-8k I can have it done for you. So there you have it. HORIZON is unethical, they lie, and try title advantage of that situation (incoming winter storm). NEVER USE THESE GUYS UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET OVERCHARGED. Also the guy you tried to screw us was Kevin (tech), Chuck (salesmen). read more

BEWARE. We called Horizon when our heat went out in the evening because they were one of the few companies open. They came out the next day and appeared to be helpful, The open temperature limit circuit had broken- they told us we needed an entirely new furnace AND air conditioning unit and emphasized the urgency to get it done since we have a baby in the home and cold weather was approaching. They offered us several "packages" and had us apply for a loan on the spot. The lowest "package" was $15,000 and the highest was almost 30k. We live in a 1500 sq foot town home and would have needed a 2 ton unit. They offered to come out next day and when we said we needed to think on it they told us they don't have many crews left to do the work and that our heat could fail at any time. We felt like we had no choice and so we set up for the crew to come next day. After they left I did some research and felt their prices were not adding up. I spoke to several neighbors who had to have their HVAC units replaced and they spent less than HALF of what Horizon's lowest offer was. I canceled the crew for the next day to get a second opinion and had several other companies come out to confirm our unit did NOT need to be replaced. It was in good working condition and it was one single part that needed to be replaced- under $200. I felt like they took advantage of our stress and the fact that we had a new baby in the home and played on the fact that this was the only safe option. read more

**Consumer beware** Horizon came out to inspect and repair a leaking water heater. The tech was in the basement for five minutes then reported that I needed to replace it for $2500-$3000. My husband decided that he would attempt to install it himself, and bought a WH from Lowes for $489. We eventually called a plumber to assist with hook up and he immediately said that our previous WH was under warranty. I called the WH company and they confirmed that it would have been replaced for free. When I called Horizon, they said they would have a manager call me back within 24 hours. Six days later, I called again to learn that there were no notes from my previous conversation. The apologetic young man said that I would for sure receive a call within 24 hours and here I am four more days later with no return call. Then they quote you on the repair. We called them ( I was disparate) to install a stove outlet box. First the dispatcher said the technician had the part on the truck so when technician got here he said he would check his truck. Came back back in and said he didn't have one on truck . Said he could order the part and it would cost $389 and technician said it was a 10 to 15 minute job. I checked online and Lowe's and everyone of their stores had the outlet box in stock. Then they had nerve enough to call to call 3 days later and said part Just came in. I told them to forget it, that is such price gouging that I will try to get someone reasonable out to replace the outlet box. The outlet box at Lowes was only $30. read more

I'm highly disappointed with my recent AC service performed by Horizon Services. I took advantage of their $59 discounted deal in April. The technician rushed through the job in 15-20 minutes. He cleaned the condenser, looked into the attic air handler and took a few pictures, and gave me a brief report and was done. He didn't even change the air filter, which is supposed to be an important part of an AC tune-up. I spoke to a manager in Horizon over this. He said he would offer me a full refund if I had paid, which I hadn't and wasn't interested in. I had another company service my AC properly in the meantime. Horizon then sent me an invoice for $59, invoice #4199365. I contacted them via email to request to cancel the invoice, but received no response. I attempted to reach them by phone but was unable to get through. I have previously used Horizon Services with quite positive experience, but this recent experience suggests a significant decline in quality and customer service. Given the rushed work, lack of communication, and attempt to charge me after stating that they would not, I will not be using them again. read more

I had the worst service from Horizon. I was without heat for FIVE DAYS. My furnace is under warranty. A part went up which had to be ordered. The part came in on Saturday but Horizon made me wait until the following Monday as I was told they do not have service workers working on the weekend. I am an 83 year old woman with no heat for Five days caused by Horizon. I think its all about MONEY they were not going to make any MONEY from me due to the warranty, so no overtime or special service for me. They did not care that the weather outside was very cold. I worked as a nurse and weekends were like any other day of the week but that does not seem to apply to Horizon. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND HORIZON TO ANY ONE DUE TO THE SERVCE THEY SUPPLY. read more

Horizon is just one of many companies that do this to "lure" homeowners. But if your service is good and prices are competitive, why the need for a gimmick or paper spiel? Their Annual Service For Heating is a Bait and Switch To Buy a NEW Heating System. Be aware: Horizon use this maintenance service to scare you into replacing a good working heating system. The technician didn't didn't offer to vacuum out the dust, or ask about my insulation before he tried to convince me to replace my heating system. The technician was only interested in selling a the only heating system Horizon offers, which only last for 10 to 15 yrs, instead of systems that can last 20 or more years. I recommend calling BGE or Washington Power, depending on the area you line in. Why? Because they will maintenance your system or fix it economically, instead of scaring you to buy a new system. Horrible experience. Took 3 visits and almost $700 to tune up my system for winter. I have a heat pump with oil backup. First tech claimed I needed a $400 part. He ended up being fired. Second tech told me my AC ran whenever the oil heat was on. Proceeded to tell me my Nest thermostat wont work with a dual fuel (heat pump with oil backup) system and tried to sell me a $1600 thermostat. Third tech came and said thermostat was correctly setup and the system is working properly. Two days off from work, a late Saturday appointment and ~$700 for this. Terrible service. read more

The worst customer service I have ever received from any service tech who has come to my house. The service technician who came to my home to service my air conditioning unit was rude, condescending, kept repeating the same questions to me, and generally behaved in a bizarre manner. Being a woman who was home alone with the tech I became genuinely very concerned and frightened at his behavior. I contacted customer service and the corporate office to complain. I did receive a voicemail back from customer service a few days later but every time I called back the customer service agent was not available. I would never use this company again.
