This is a nice brew pub. No loud music and wonderful beer. They have a limited menu, but the food is pretty good. I had a chicken and waffle sandwich. It had bacon and a maple mayonnaise which was delicious. It also had coleslaw on it and was served with fries. The folks working there were very nice and the service was great. read more

An easy-to-like brewery. Very relaxed atmosphere. Beer choices galore - they brew at least a dozen varieties, and offer about the same number from other brewers. We tried 3 and liked 3. They have a full food menu too. The schnitzel was very good. We also got a sampler platter with a couple kinds of sausage, soft and tasty pretzels, and pulled pork - scratch that, they were out - 4 tiny wings (not an equivalent sub!). I like their system though; they give you a buzzer, and when it goes off you go pick up your food. Works well. I don't really think it's appropriate for your 3 options for tip amount to be 18%, 20%, and 22% (?). So, if the service was horrible they deserve 18%, and if it was fantastic they deserve 22%? The amount of money we're talking about - our bill was around $90 - will get you a nice sit-down meal where courses are brought to you and your drink never runs dry. That's worth 20%. We have had Grimm Bros before but at the old location and we're super interested in trying the new location. It is in the old HP campus and kind of hard to find. If entering on west bound 14th, go into the parking lot BEFORE you hit the Taft light. Its immediately on your right once inside. If entering on north bound Taft, go into the innovation center and go straight until you can go completely around the building. It's in the middleish part of it. You will need to walk up a path and from there you'll see it. Right away the patio will greet you and you'll long for summer days to enjoy it. Inside is large with ample seating that's not overly crowded. They offer a good variety of drinks. If you didn't know, they bought Crow Hop and therefore have some of their beers. I had the Shroud, their Gose and my other half had the Dictionary Roulette and Slap and Tickle. All were quite enjoyable but for the non-beer drinkers they have seltzers, ciders, non alcoholic, and soft drinks/juices for the littles. They also have a full menu which was surprising. Decent food. I had the Colorado Rodeo which had a fantastic sauce. He had a regular cheese burger and our son had Mac n cheese, and fries. The food was yummy but needed salt - it's in the sugar shaker - I would come back to try other things. As for their restrooms, they're in the shared hall, are nice and clean. I did a baby check, and yes! A changing table. We had our little with us so it was perfect. The price was on par with other breweries and we will definitely be back as the weather warms. Excellent service! I have celiac disease and was very impressed with all the staff and the care they took with my meal. I had a burger and coleslaw with a malted seltzer. Very tasty. They explained clearly that they did not have a dedicated fryer and they were able to identify which items on the menu to avoid. One of the cooks came out to explain that the ingredients for the coleslaw were all gluten-free, but they have no way of guaranteeing no cross contact since it is a large kitchen. I appreciated the warning and was comfortable taking the risk. Kudos to whoever did their training. The staff shone tonight. read more

I've been here a few times and today may have been the nail in the coffin. The beer has always been "ok" but I could barely get through my beer today. I ended up ordering a wine that was also pretty mediocre but I don't have high hopes for wine at a place like this. The worst part was the food. We had 8 people order food and nobody was happy with their meal. I remember the food being ok so I'm not sure what is going on now. The least they can do is serve good tater tots. The creativity of the Grimm brothers theme was interesting as far as menu names and local brews but didn't translate to the restaurant feel or taste. Ambiance was brewery like, but a bit off putting. There were small children running around the tables & a guy walking around the restaurant with his two yorkies. Maybe they were service animals but it didn't appear so as they were not vested or marked in any way. I don't prefer to eat in the same place where dogs are walking by me, food-level. Additionally, tried to order a beer and the manager wouldn't take my Colorado ID... ??? Thankfully, I had my passport on me as I just traveled the day before so I could try the average tasting beer that I had to pull out 3 different identifications to try and purchase. Overall 6/10. This was awful the entire menu on a Sunday is a wrinkled piece of paper with a few sandwiches and 2 items for kids. The menu online is completely off and not what it is online. AI pictures of food online to make it look better and zero text saying the menu changes in Sundays. Employee was disrespectful after asking if they could make a salad because there is zero on the menu and immediately said no. Later coming to say "yeah I guess we can for you". No salads, no drink menu. Walked in and the floor is completely scattered with food crumbs, stains, and other substances. All the workers constantly on phones while people ask for more drinks or waiting for food. My burger was way way way over cooked nearly grey all around the sandwich and fries are over cooked as well. The soft pretzel was overcooked and crunchy. The Prince of Hops West coast IPA had none of the classic hops flavors of the style. The bartender was wiping his hands on his jeans instead of washing them. He also wasn't paying attention to his pouring and missed the shaker when pouring alcohol and mixers. Unfinished drywall behind the bar where the surfaces are supposed to be "durable, washable surfaces". It just felt like the new place was rushed to open. 'Twas a dark and stormy night when Marissa C and I made our way to Grimm Brothers Brewhouse - the third and final stop on our Loveland Brew-venture! SPACE/ATMOSPHERE: After grabbing our drinks at the bar we made our way to the barrel room adjacent the main taproom. Whoa! Love the touches throughout the space! There's long community tables that make you feel like you're at a viking feast, chandeliers made of barrel staves, tons of barrels aging, and even fresh wildflowers. There's also various couches tucked throughout. BREWS: Being the beer girl that I am I opted for a flight during my visit so that I could sample a few things from their menu. I really enjoyed the Blueberry Pomegranate Baron - sour berlinerweisse, Maiden's Kiss - lemon radler, and Fearless Youth - Munich dunkel. Marissa C. sampled one of their stouts. All were quite tasty! Little Red Cap, their Düsseldorf Altbier, has definitely brought home a medal or three. So don't forget to give that one a try! BITES: While they do not have a kitchen, they do offer up a variety of prepackaged bites. I don't think they have food trucks that frequent the brewery, but I'm sure you can bring your own eats. SERVICE: The beertender during our visit was quite helpful while we were choosing our brews of choice. We really didn't interact with him much aside from that. Stopped by one evening recently on a suggestion from a friend. Brews were ok but the margaritas and old fashioned drinks had an off tasting flavor. Regular menu was not available due to Octoberfest or something. Food was just ok nothing to rave about. Service was horrible. Bar waitress seemed angry and hurried. Ordered our food and was handed a remote device that never went off. When asked about it the other waitress said they must have just forgotten to set it off and pointed to the end of the bar stating our food should be down there somewhere. Our food was cold as it had just been sitting there. Patio area up by the bar was well lit but no seats available so we had to sit in the dark further out. Just did not have that inviting feeling or welcoming as you had to park a ways out guessing where the actual bar was at because it is apart of an old industrial commercial building that was dark as well. Nice place to enjoy a few brews & hangout. They had a couple pinball games, a dartboard and a hammer/nail game we weren't brave enough to try! Lots of long high top tables perfect for groups & several smaller couch areas for smaller groups. Though it was quiet on a late Saturday September afternoon it was warm as they kept the doors open & fans on. Dog friendly inside & on the 'patio'. I enjoyed a flight of several beers & my husband enjoyed the The Dude Abides (coffee milk stout). There wasn't a food truck while we were there but they do have burritos delivered fresh weekly they heat up as ordered. They also offer snacks for sale which we appreciated since we arrived hungry. This brewery has such a neat aesthetic! The fantasy/fairytale vibes make the atmosphere of this place really nice. The long tables in the side room provide plenty of room to sit a big group at. Cannot speak about the beer as I do not drink it. We were at Grimm's last evening. We tried the food which was so-so. The hamburger was overdone, the turkey avocado was okay but the bread was stale tasting and very hard toasted. The salads were straight from the Sysco bag & nearly impossible to eat without dumping out and cutting up the lettuce leaves. Don't expect home salad dressing either. The fries were Sysco specials as well. The Ruben sandwich was gross with fat on the meat and a very small amount if saurkraut. The other 2 ordered pork schnitzel sandwiches. Said they were okay. No wait staff... you order at the counter and pick up there. So no tip in my book. This place needs to up their game food-wise and general decor wise. They need to prepare better sandwiches more carefully with an eye to detail. Consider less food options and do them better. Hire a professional to plan and execute a more unique menu with better ingredients? All we had I could have done better and cheaper at home. My buddy and I visited Grimm Brother on a weekday evening and it was crowded with locals...the vibe was okay, just not seemingly welcoming to visitors. We grabbed our beers and moved to the storage area where barrels were stored. Beers were served in a German style mug and tasty, but we left after our first round. The first time I went I was the only person in the bar, and the bartender acted like I was inconveniencing him. Bring my first time there, I wanted to try a couple beers and he acted annoyed. The beer I got was flavorless. I was going to give the place another chance, there for the Sweetheart's Revenge homebrewing competition, but this time was worse than the first. I ordered their sour, because I love sour beers, but it tasted like pure vinegar. I asked to get something else instead and got total attitude from the bartender. As the history of beer goes, German style ales and lagers have been around far longer than most of what you'll find on the craft beer landscape now. Within the last couple decades, Americans have been constantly redefining the concept of beer and pushing the envelope to create new beer categories and styles in the BJCP guidelines (an American institution BTW). This rapid advancement of change and innovation drowns out the once popular and traditional styles that have previously enjoyed their uncontested dominance. With the creation of Grimm Brothers Brewing a few short years ago, the front range of Colorado, we received a wake up call to invoke our attention to the beauty of the German style beers. Back in 1516, German authorities wrote up the beer purity law, or "Reinheitsgebot". This prevented the clever and devious brewer of that time from putting dangerous and psychotropic ingredients into the beer they made. They clearly stated that only water, malt, hops and yeast could be used to create beer; anything else was forbidden. Now, however being almost 500 years later, brewers treat ingredients in beer the same way a chef does in their kitchen. Traditional German brewers were skilled craftsmen that while limited in their ingredient inventory, created amazing beers! Ergo, the appreciation for these beers is not forgotten. We have Grimm Brothers to thank for bringing the beauty of this beer style back into our lives and really showing the depth and variety that exists within that style! Albeit, they might not always adhere to the beer purity law, I would argue that such a myopic approach to brewing would be an injustice to the level of progress and knowledge that has been gained since 1516. The specific beers they have on tap encompass the most popular and some lesser known styles found within the German beer category. Their Snow Drop is remarkably refreshing and light - perfect for a day of summer relaxation. Their Fearless Youth is a smooth and toasty lager that would pair very well with anything BBQ. Little Red cap is another crisp and clean tasting beer that has a slight caramel hint to it. Their other beers are all excellent examples of their respective styles! While I would find myself enjoying American style ales far more frequently than the beer they brew, I cannot deny the approbation they deserve. Grimm Brothers Brewhouse is my second favoriest brewery ever. My first choice is Dry Dock. The beer is top notch and this place is going to be huge in a few years. A good selection of beers which are all better than expected. The tap room is on the smaller side, but I'm not even sure if this place is a year old yet - if so, it's just a year old. Don't worry, they'll move in to a bigger area once word gets out a bit more. I know this has nothing to do with beer, but the art work on the bottles and in the tap room is tiptop to say the least.
