Stayed at Isle of Capri last night, and the Casino experience was the absolute worst of any I have ever encountered. All of the machines I tried to play by the Cashier had to be cashed out by a service technician after a long wait. If the machine did spit out your ticket, it would not work in any of the other machines. I spent most of my playing time standing in line at the cashier's office. Many of the machines were 'out of service', and this was before 10:00pm. The room was way overpriced at $219, and overall it was a horrible choice for a place to stay and play in Blackhawk. read more

Stayed in Lady Luck Towers, 12th floor and the scenery was fantastic! The room was spacious, clean and modern. Finding the place, parking and getting from the room to the casino was a simple as can be. The staff was friendly as well. I expected much less out of the visit from other reviews and was pleasantly surprised to see just the opposite. read more

All the rooms at Isle have been renovated. They look great. Plenty of parking in the parking garages and a nice property all together with a cafe, buffet and high end steak house. You really cant go wrong staying here. Especially after the renovation. read more

O...m...g. My friend and I went 02/28/15 and it was ridiculous! We reserved a suite at The Isle (like we always do). When we got there not only were we told that our room with one bed (lol, for the two of us to share I guess) was all the way at The Lady Luck, but we couldn't get the room that we were expecting. All I'm saying is, if you're promised something then you automatically assume that's what you'll get when dealing with a business, and The Isle is generally pretty good about that type of thing. So anyway the facility EMT had to wheel my friend over to Lady Luck (she just had knee/hip replacement surgery) and I got to sleep on a lovely cot that evening. For somebody that looks forward to a quick getaway to this place, and usually has a good time, it was such a disappointment. read more

My friends and I stayed at The Isle Casino last weekend. We had never been to Black Hawk before, so it was something new for all of us. The front desk staff and the guys working at the Tradewinds Market were all very friendly. The security at The Isle and Lady Luck were also very friendly. We stayed here on our way passing through the mountains because they were having a sale for around $88 a night. We didn't visit the casino, so I can't comment about that. But the room was nice, clean, and had a huge bathroom. There weren't any carts available to help us haul our stuff upstairs (we are gluten free and have to carry a lot of food around with us), and the woman who checked us in let us use the front desk's cart if we promised to return it. =) Of course we did, and appreciated her help making our travels just a little easier. My only complaint is our view--a little strip of parking lot and a high cut-rock wall. Very disappointing when you are in the Rockies! If any gluten free folks are wondering about the food options: 1. There is no grocery store in the town, so you are out of luck there. 2. The buffet was like $17 per person, which is pretty expensive for only being able to eat raw veggies from the salad bar. 3. There was a fancy restaurant next to the buffet, and they say all their steaks are gluten free. But to get a full meal there, it would be like $50 per person, which is even worse than the buffet, although you would at least get food to fill your gut. In the end, we had supper and breakfast in our room with food we (luckily) had brought along with us. read more

Husband and I came up from Denver to stay here for a quick little getaway. The floor we stayed on was above their "smoking floor" which caused our room to reek of cigarette smoke. There were stains on the carpet and the water pressure in the shower came out as a trickle at best. The TV in the room had an option where you can check out of your room by selecting this service, but it would not allow us to do just that when we tried it. We complained of the smell in our room to the woman at the front desk during check out and she simply said that they are getting ready to renovate. Didn't even offer an apology for our inconvenience so we are never staying at the Isle again. read more

I called the casino and asked if they accepted pets and the person that answered the phone stated YES. I said thank you and the phone conversation ended. I then made a reservation online. I arrived with my two Chihuahuas and mother in law. When we arrived the woman who checked us in was very unfriendly. I did not get a welcoming feeling as we approached. She then informed us that we had to pay a $200.00 deposit for our pets and she had to check to see if any pet friendly rooms were available. None of this was mentioned to me during my phone call. In addition to this there was a $50.00 deposit on each room I rented and a $25.00 cleaning fee on with the pets. I do not mind the cleaning fee but was not prepared for such big deposits on the rooms. I have traveled to many great hotels and have never had to pay such a big pet deposit. At the desk we canceled our reservations and loaded back up for the trip back to Denver since there are no other pet friendly hotels. I decided to call the supervisor before we left to see if he could work with us given there was not information given to me during my phone call before I made the reservation online. He stated there was nothing he could do for me. So back we went to Denver. So the hotel lost our 2 room cost and the money we would have spent for dinner, drinks and gambling. If they would have reduced the pet fee or something that would have made me feel cared for I would have never written this review. However, we are back in Denver without getting to have our night of fun..frustrated with the lack of caring and customer service that the Isle of Capri has provided. We will never be gambling or staying there again. read more

My husband and I planned a night away at the Blackhawk, Co, Isle casino. We have heard of their promotion of offering a free hotel room if you play poker for at least 6 hours. We had called, inquiring and asking details. The person that answered confirmed they do comp the hotel room if you play for 6 hours. Nobody mentioned that the deal is available only Sunday through Thursday. My husband drove there on a Friday, played poker for 6 hours, mentioned on different occasions that he wants to play for 6 hours to get the room comped. Nobody bothered to bring to his attention the fact that he was not going to be able to take advantage of the promotion because we had went on a Friday. We had asked to speak to a manager, which was a waste of time. The manager made us wait a good while, in the end, when he showed up he had the worst attitude. He had very poor customer service skills and was of no help. All we wanted to do was to bring to his attention that he should make sure the employees give out complete, accurate information to their patrons. He could care less and basically blew us off. So, we are very disappointed in our last experience there and, needless to say, we will not be coming back. read more

I would give a zero if it were possible. my boyfriend took me up there to celebrate a 9 year anniversary and the first room we were in had holes cut into the blanket and no internet...they switched us rooms without upgrade and the second room had nails..yes nails sticking out of the walls.....not only that but the room hadn't been cleaned. It had the window falling out of the track.....(we were on the 10th floor.) then the light switches didn't have knobs for the fan and light. the mini fridge had no shelving to put anything and again no internet. So when we called down again...the supervisor on staff laughed at us. hard core laughing. not only that but when i asked for maintenance to be sent up she scoffed. finally agreed and then they came up fixed a few things and left...still no room upgrade or move. they slipped a buffet coupon under the door..then....a few hours later we hear a horrible scream and thuds. more screaming and so we call security and the couple in the next room were not just fighting but beating and from what we were told attempting if not succeeding rape. so they called the cops....we tried to do everything in our power asap to help the girl but the cops came and arrested the guy. we were only then offered when we asked for a refund for the two days we were going to stay, a suite. since it was early and we hadn't slept yet early being 5 am. we accepted the suite/ slept through that day and due to life and us not being able to get away again decided to PAY the next night for the same room so we could have some sort of anniversary. nope...we went to get fresh air in the night and opened the balcony to find puke....yes puke all over it. wafting into the room. they hadn't cleaned the balcony before they checked us in. we left. we tried to call the manager all week. got ignored and finally got a hold of him and he refunded us and that was it. he didn't even try to say anything to the effects of sorry that this was a monumental awful week for you. just sorry i didn't call you back....your money should be in the bank in a week or so. one staff member was nice while up there but it was ruined. the whole thing. never stay there.. isle is a little better with cleanliness..yet then again that's where the vomit suite was. i can't believe how we were treated! read more

Worst buffet ever!! One long line for everything. You have to wait through everything to get to anything. They need to break up the the serving line into several tables. Half your food is cold before you even get through the line. They also need a vacuum and the carpet was sticky. If the front is that dirty what is the kitchen like???????? read more

If I could give less than 1 star I would. The customer service at this hotel was horrendous. They wouldn't let us check into our room until an hour after we were supposed to and just made us sit in the lobby. The people at the front desk, including the manager were demeaning and treated us very poorly. They were rude and did not do anything to accommodate us. They didn't even say sorry about having to sit and wait for an hour(after traveling several hours to get there). I reached out to them the week after but never heard anything back. ok, lots of things I hate I about this place. but then again, lots of things I love about it. so lemme show the love first. Poker room: WOW!! they just opened up a poker room a few months ago and if you play poker at all, this is the joint. first off, since it's so new, they're really pushing the promos. I get way more comps playing in the poker room, than I do playing at the table games. play 3 hours and get $20 in food comps. play another 3 hours and get a free night stay in the hotel. (sun-thurs) I think I have to play about 30 hours on table games to get those same comps, all while losing money to the casino on the BS games. And look, don't go to ameristar just because they have a $200k bad beat. Ok, maybe go to ameristar when the bad beat gets that big. but when it's not that big, come over to the Isle's poker room and get way better comps than ameristar gives out while you wait for the bad beat to get bigger. Also, there's a ton of flat screen tvs, so you can watch sports if you've been sittin and grinding it out on the cash games, waiting for your stupid pocket rockets, because you're too stupid to know how to play any other hand. casino: once upon a time, this casino used to give the best comps. But I guess the economy finally took it's toll, and they decided to stop being so generous. It used be something like playing 24 tracked hours of 9/6 JOB @ $25/hand would get you into the premier level. Now it's something like 700 hours. but they still have some pretty decent VP machines for JOB and DDB. The blackjack is just ok. H17, DAS, RSA. and the drinks? well, you can order a cognac or stoli martini, but it comes in a plastic cup? Hotel: ehhhhhhh. I shouldn't complain because it's so easy to get a free room. steakhouse: one of the best in blackhawk. they have a steak called "the Tomahawk" 32oz ribeye with a rib bone still attached to it. It looks like a giant tomahawk. the servers actually knew the finer points of fine dining, and the wine list was pretty decent. Orchid Garden: the new asian restuarant they've been pushing. Not bad. maybe 3 stars. food is hit or miss, but way better than a lot of choices up here. The pho is good for blackhawk. but it aint gonna beat no Federal ST, Denver, Asian Compton pho. the service, WTF. We had a great bartender who was friendly, talkative, and always checked on us every 10 minutes. but the 2nd time we came, we got the most retarded, obviously not trained, or bitchy waitress. . decor: pretty cheesey. but they've been improving. Once upon a time, there used to be a parrot cage in the lobby filled with annoying little bastard parrots mimicking everything you said. Don't bother staying here. The hotel walls are paper thin. There is virtually no poker and if you go to the bar, they limit you to one drink per half hour. The casino was alright but the room was terrible. They have no temperature control (as you would expect for paying $170 a night for a room). It was about 85 degrees and couldn't sleep at all the whole night. I would never go back here, pay more and book early to stay at Ameristar. read more

Slots are fun, but in my opinion the buffet is not farm to table. I feel that's just a gimmick they use to get people in the doors because everybody is all about farm to table nowadays. I know I am. To me, their renovation did nothing except change the look of the restaurant and create an excuse to charge more for the buffet. With the seemingly lack of food selection for what is considered a buffet, and having had only 1 plate, I feel jipped out of the money for this one. As we continue our tour of the southwest casino worlds we had to include Black Hawk, Colorado. We stayed here at the Isle of Capri which was decorated more like the isle of Philippines. Between the altitude, over 8000 feet, and the green stripes on the walls complimented by the large pink and green flowered wallpaper, I felt I might be ill. So, yeah we went to about 7 of the many casinos in this canyon. I felt a bit claustrophobic the whole day. I will say, the drive is too beautiful to describe, and I understand Colorado didn't want this little old mining town to deteriorate away and needed something to get people to come here so it was decided to take this historic mining town and turn it into casino alley. Very little remains of the history, I couldn't even find a T-Shirt that said "I went to Black Hawk", it's all about getting revenue for the state. I guess if you live close (Denver?), you might visit. I have to comment to Cindy L.'s review - Are you kidding me? Have you been to Las Vegas - in Nevada? This is a review of the buffet. We chose to go to this buffet over Ameristar on a Wednesday night because they had crab legs and Ameristar only has crab on the weekends. Seiously, this is one of the worst buffets that I have been too. The food was cold, had little to no flavor. Even Country Buffet is better and I really don't like that place either. The desserts looked amazing, but only the creme brulee had any taste. I am surprised how bad this was. The steak was very dry and tough, the crab legs were cold and WAY over cooked. I am not sure why the other reviews were so flattering, but I assume that the weekends have better selections and higher turnover of food, so that it stays warm. I have never been dissappointed in the Ameristar buffet, so I will be choosing that one in the future with or without the crab. read more

I like this place, clean, food is good, and generally quiet with no smoking smell, the only drawback is that I noticed a few dogs in the hotel, uhh, who wants to have a room that has dog dander, hair, and a dogs back side on the chair and bedspread, I hope they limit dog rooms and don't rent them to others who enjoy cleaner rooms, the rooms are secure for access and hallways were clean, staff is very good, would give it a 4 star except for the dogs. Folks, leave the dogs at home for pete's sake, leaving them alone in the rooms they bark and who knows what else. read more

Hotel room was nasty. Bathroom had dried urine on toilet and on floor. Pubic hairs on floor. Toothpaste in the sink. Both chairs in the room were grossly stained and soiled. The food was well prepared and the new atmosphere was great, the wait staff did an excellent job of serving as well as keeping your table serviced, so you can get MORE.. My fav was the smoked prime rib as a main dish along with a couple of crab legs, and there was a great variety of sides and of course an excellent variety of good desserts. small portions of desserts made it nice so you can try a FEW. The chefs deserve this credit as they have done a fine job in creating such a great tasting array of good food. BEWARE HOUSE KEEPER WILL STEAL YOUR STUFF!! Just wanted to let everyone know~ My perfume(Miss Dior), 2 diamond rings, a pearl ring and a buckle credit card was stolen out of my room (749) on 3/6/15. Whoever cleaned my room on Fri 3/6/15 after 3pm is a theif! At first I noticed my perfume missing (as we were getting ready to check out), but thought i had over looked it and figured I'd find it once I got home to unpack, upon further unpacking i realized my rings and a credit card was missing as well! These items were NOT left out in the open either, I had them buried in my suit case, the theif had to dig through my luggage to find! I contacted the hotel and they advised me to file a police report. I'm pretty sure nothing will happen and I will never see my rings again! So please be aware...they have a theif cleaning their rooms! Such a disappointment, I'm sooo digusted!! read more
