Spa snacks: coconut macaroons, toffee & peanut popcorn, crunchy snack mix, berry mix, and mixed nuts. Just in case you're feeling peckish.

The spa is SOOOOOOO nice! If you're going as a couple, all of the pre- and post- service amenities are in a coed space: the laconium lounge (with heated benches and a bubbling fountain) to ease into the rest of the heated amenities, which include a mountain river steam room (with a steam function involving hot stones going into a pool of cool water that has an accompanying cheesy song that plays - relaxing nonetheless), a dry sauna, and the hot tub area. Don't forget your swimsuit to allow for enjoyment of these areas without worrying about a wardrobe malfunction! Showers, snacks, fruit infused water, tea, body wash, lotion, and even contact solution are available! The buffet is...a buffet. Surprisingly good beef curry, average mac & cheese, decent pizza, dry salmon, dry chicken, decent cheesecake. Incredible service - we were asked multiple times if we wanted drink refills, despite us showing up 30min before the posted closing time. We had plenty of time to eat and considering how late we were, it was refreshing to a) not feel rushed and b) not feel like ALL of the food had been sitting out for hours. If you want a different dining experience, there is a 24/7 diner area and there are actual restaurants for dinner (we weren't there that late). And the video poker machines are... well they're making the house money, slowly but surely. Still fun, nonetheless. I'd go back!

What does one do on a 98 degree day? We head up to Monarch Casino. My review is only going to be based on the casino since we went for a couple of hours to gamble. The casino is pretty much smoke free unless you go outside which is so nice. It's super clean and very bright inside as well. They have a variety of different type of slot machines to black jack tables and more. The parking is free unless you do valet. For all the electric car owners they have a lot of free charging parking spots which is a nice perk. Would love to try their buffet and steak restaurants one day. Will go back for a day trip or maybe even spend the night.

Monarch offers relaxing pool & hot tubs indoor & outdoor. Also, have adults only times for more peaceful & privacy. Facilities here included well equipped gym, high ended spa menu. Food: Try out their dinner buffet twice. Seafoods which are crab legs & lobsters are nice & fresh. Also, offer pho, sushi, a la carte Italian, Mexican & lovely choices for desserts. Steakhouse is very exclusive, delicious & worth the premium prices. Great for special occasions. Service: Room always clean with nice views. Great services at the buffets, casino floors & the front desk. Overall: Worth 45 mins drive from Denver for little weekend gateway. It is not only for gamblers, it also can be romantic foodie destination or family friendly trip within affordable budget.

We had a great night at the Monarch Casino. The Casino had live music which was great to hear while we gambled. Our room came with the club lounge which was open during certain hours of the day. The club lounge had free food (you have to pay for drinks). Our room had a jacuzzi tub in it which was spacious and very nice. Overall, the room was quite pricey for what we received but overall it was a great experience.

Monarch Hotel & Spa is hands-down one of the best stays I've ever had in Colorado. From the jaw-dropping mountain views to the rooftop pool that feels like a private getaway, every detail screams luxury. The spa is pure heaven, the food is incredible, and the rooms are spotless with the kind of bedding you never want to leave. It's the perfect mix of relaxation and fun -- I even tested out a few of their "free perks" and found some hidden gems most guests miss. If you're curious what it's really like to stay here, I filmed the whole experience -- from check-in to late-night casino fun -- just search 'Nikki Denver Expensive Casino'.

Colorado allows gambling and if you are in the Black Hawk area there are some classy casinos! Monarch Casino is one of many casinos to choose from and the casinos are all connected by sidewalks. It is a very walkable, safe area where you can play with the big boys! The entrance to Monarch is quite beautiful with a gas fireplace that will draw you in. Security will check your I.D. To verify that you are 21. Get out and play the tables or slot machines. What have you got to lose? Oh, hard cold cash!

Absolutely the nicest casino in Blackhawk! Rooms are upscale and super clean and luxurious. Food options are plentiful. I just wish that the 24/7 restaurant didn't arbitrarily close down to take out orders.

I don't usually gamble. In fact, if there's a lottery, I'm probably the person buying the ticket once every five years just to say I did. But something about the Monarch Casino on a whim, with a crisp $100 bill in my pocket, made me feel like a high roller in the making. And let me tell you--this *one* time, I actually won. I'm talking a "good amount of money for my very first time" kind of win. Let's get this out of the way: I don't know the first thing about strategy, how to pick the best slot machine, or whether the roulette wheel has any "good spots." I just went in, inserted my hard-earned cash, and let fate (and maybe a sprinkle of beginner's luck) do its thing. And, lo and behold, the casino gods smiled down on me. I wasn't there for long--an hour at most. I'd like to say I played it cool, but internally I was doing slide of victory. Here's the part where I show some restraint. I actually left when I should have--unlike my usual "let's keep going until it's all gone" habit. So, kudos to me for not handing it all back. But enough about my miraculous luck. Let's talk about the real reason you'd want to visit Monarch: it's just a really pleasant place to be. The ambiance is top-notch. It's not just a casino; it feels like you're in an upscale, relaxing destination. The cocktail servers and waitstaff? Super friendly. They don't just drop your drink and scurry away; they're genuinely nice and accommodating, making you feel like royalty even if you're just in there trying to beat the house. Now, if you're not much of a gambler (like me, pre-epic win), the Monarch has a lot to offer. From a relaxing spa day to some delicious dining options, it's one of the nicer places around to just hang out, eat well, and have a good time. Plus, for those who do love a good gamble, it's definitely one of the more polished spots to try your luck. In conclusion: I went in, won big (by my standards), and didn't let the casino win me over *too* much. If you're looking for a nice mix of relaxation and excitement, the Monarch Casino is a solid pick. I'll definitely be back, but maybe not for the gambling...unless, of course, my newfound "luck" sticks around. Fingers crossed!

I had a pleasant stay here overall but the check-in process was horrendous. I was told that check-in time was 4 pm and we arrived there at 4 pm to check in and they said my room wasn't ready. They assured me that 6 pm at the latest my room would be ready and sure enough, 6pm hit and no phone call or email like they promised. They said if the room wasn't ready by 6 pm then I'd have a free upgrade. Instead, they said there were no suites available so they gave me a $40 food voucher which was honestly not great but at least it was something. Other than the horrible check-in experience and having to wait awkwardly on the 23rd floor for 2 hours, the pool itself and restaurants were nice. Plenty of tables games and slots were available 24/7 as well. The room itself was also very clean and new. Their buffet was also very good but pricey.

Some pros and cons from our stay (room 1014): PROS: - the promo included lowest room rate and $20 dining credit per day. A genuinely good deal for the price - the restaurant offers on site are pretty decent, varied, and reasonably priced for BH - staff was 50/50. Literally half were welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly, while the other half was borderline rude or incompetent - the amenities were a nice perk, including a rooftop pool, and two hot tubs (1 indoor 1 outdoor) - the room and bathroom were very spacious with both a shower AND a garden tub - there were public restrooms available in the hallway - the casino floor feels spacious and there is a good variety of slot machines and table games CONS: - Communication in general is very lacking: When we walked into our room there was no literature to showcase on site dining options, WiFi password, or amenities' hours/logistics. The room service menu is not available in the Penn app nor is much information provided about one's stay. We finally found a brochure at the front desk when we went to inquire about where to find a "do not disturb" hang tag (the app live chat was useless for any room information). Room service is upon request only, that info is also not available unless asking a front desk attendant. I requested a Penn play card for gambling, the attendant did not explain how to use it, so it took us two days to realize the card must be inserted in the slots the entire time you play to track usage. You can remove it only AFTER you cash out. - It's extremely frustrating to use the Penn play cards at the machines. We had to constantly try again and again as most readers do not see a card has been inserted. Some machines we completely gave up on... - The room was TIRED (both beds had mattresses which sunk from damage/overuse, both headboards had peeling faux leather behind the pillows, there was random scotch tape on the walls and some holes/dings, the toilet's door jam was coming loose from the wall, bathroom was not extremely clean (heavy dust coating on baseboards, hair on bathroom counter, etc) - Of of 6 elevators to the tower: 4 had broken LCD screens (making it difficult to determine at which level the car would stop), 2 made very concerning cable car noises (we begun avoiding them), all 6 were unsecured (guest key card access on cars was disabled; letting ANY casino patrons access the room floors) - the pool deck has posted adults only hours (daily 7-11pm) however, despite various staff walk through a dozen children were still splashing about at 8:30pm on Friday night - the vending machine on the pool deck was out of service and drinks ordered poolside through the QR code available on tables was not delivered to the pool deck (despite note of location in order) - the ice machine on floor 10 was out of order and no microwave was available in the rooms (or in the vending room) making it impossible to get takeout if one got tired of in house options. A microwave in the vending room would be a great addition - ambient music in the casino was great mid-week throughout until on Friday night at around 8pm it was set to blast and was along with the ambient slots noise it was no longer enjoyable. We left the floor shortly after - wait staff on the casino floor was scarce both on weekdays and weekends. It didn't seem they were circulating much, and when they did come by, they often skipped us (we are not big drinkers, so it was fine for us, but it left us feeling un-welcomed). Interestingly enough, for both drinks I ordered during my stay (handed a $5 bill for tip) I was asked if I wanted any change back :-/ - the floral scent that's pumped through the AC units on the casino floor can quickly become overwhelming and a bit nauseating. I understand casinos do this to cover up odors and have a 'signature scent' however a lighter less floral aroma may be a better choice Overall a good value for us (over low-occupancy days and with a good promotion) and a change of pace for a fun few days away from the hustle and bustle of city living.

Perfect activity to do on a surprise rainy day. They provided towels and even had a gift shop to buy swim suits if u didn't bring one. There was soft music playing and it made for a very chill and relaxing vibe. It was so nice floating in a hot spring while listening to the rain drops on the roof and soft thundering. We've visited several hot springs over the years - there is something special about this place. The history alone is incredible. People have been soaking in these mineral waters for well over a century, and the springs themselves have been used for generations before that. What we loved most was the character. The geothermal caves are unlike anything we've experienced elsewhere, and the large mineral pool under the tropical dome feels like stepping into another world. Surrounded by palm trees, tropical plants, and naturally heated mineral water, it's easy to forget you're only a short drive from Denver. The caves are a mix between a wet sauna and a plunge pool. Four pool options down there with the coolest at 106 degrees...that is the one we opted for. When we needed to cool a bit, we could just step out into the relaxation area. There is a side for women or men for the caves, so clothing is optional down there. If you're looking for a perfectly polished resort experience, this may not be your place. Helped us get up to the casa in a very dangerous and bad winter storm and plowed us out and helped us get down to our car because our car wouldn't make it up the heal in the snow. We had a blast, it was like a winter wonderland. We went sledding, he had snow shoes for us to use and sleds. The house kept us nice and cozy every night. We will definitely be returning in the summer. If you go in the winter please make sure you have great winter tires! Thank you Scott!

My husband and I stayed here for the last few days of our vacation in Colorado. It was wonderfully quiet and set in a beautiful location. We rented out the bottom floor/basement, which came with WiFi and had a cozy bedroom with fireplace, sauna, steam shower, and large living room. We also enjoyed reading in the hammocks outside. The living room came equipped with a large screen and projector along with a huge variety of DVDs. The space was equipped with a mini-refrigerator, toaster oven, and sink. We spent most of our time indoors with a few trips to nearby towns to explore a bit and eat. A microwave or hot plate was really the only thing we missed. The water didn't get quite hot enough for the coffee we made using the French Press and there were a few other things we wanted to heat up that didn't work out well in a toaster oven. We didn't partake in the breakfast, so I can't comment on that. The sauna and steam shower were my favorite amenities. The sauna warmed me up and helped relieve some of the tension and soreness I was carrying around. The steam shower helped me breathe better. The dry air caused havoc with my sinuses, and it was nice to get into the steam shower to help alleviate the dryness. The owner was extremely friendly and invited us to enjoy the hot tub and greenhouse. After a very busy few months of travel, conferences, and craziness at work, I just wanted to relax and be left alone. This was the perfect location for that! We spent most of our time indoors with a few trips to nearby towns to explore a bit and eat. I wasn't able to hike because the altitude affected me too much, but really just having a place to be away from people and the bustle of city life was what I needed most.
