Worst casino I've had the displeasure of spending my money on. My boyfriend and I typically stick with the smaller casinos: Saratoga, Red Dolly, etc., But since we often stay at lady lucky we pass by the lodge all the time. I always wondered how it was. I no longer wonder. The staff is absolutely deplorable. They seemed to have some bias against my boyfriend who is a white male and I - a black woman. We checked out the lower level and then hopped on a couple machines on the upper before deciding to leave. There was hardly anyone there but we did notice a security guy sort of lurking. He hopped on his radio and before we knew it we were ambushed by a floor manager and security telling us to leave due to being "intoxicated " and that it's against the law to gamble while intoxicated. I was shocked to say the least. I had 4 inch platform heels on and we were quietly enjoying ourselves not bothering a soul. It's insane how rude they were with telling us to finish our drink and leave. Absolutely disgusting racist behavior. I will never ever recommend this casino. EVER. Stay away. read more

This is my second time eating the buffet for lunch. Today everything was left out for way too long and the quality of food was atrocious. Absolutely no seasoning on anything. The scalloped potatoes were awful. I know it is an hour before you close for lunch but paying customers should all have the same experience. We have gone to the Lodge Casino for many years and never have we experience such absurd rules in the middle of a game. Apparently, It was just recently sold, (but not sure) and the new owners change the chip amount on Roulette when they feel the need to. There were probably 5 people at the one-dollar chip roulette table and a junior pit boss/dealer comes over and tells everyone that after 4spins the price will be going up to 5 dollar a chip. By the way, there was also another table with no one playing and that was already a 5-dollar table. Really!? Why the need to change both?? We left as well as the other players. If you want to charge 5 dollars a chip, DO SO, don't change the price in the middle. You could start that whoever comes to the table new, charge them the new prices and leave the players that were there the same. read more

We spent Thanksgiving here. Ate at the buffet for dinner which was fine. If you don't eat crab then it's really overpriced. Had what you would expect to see on a buffet. Although apparently they have pho which I missed. Breakfast the next morning we headed down to the buffet once again. The breakfast buffet is a great deal. They have an omelette station which was good. Then had all the breakfast items you want. Since we were up there for dinner, we planned to stay in the hotel for the night. This review is for the Seasons buffet at the Lodge casino. I haven't been here is a couple years but was offered a free buffet. So here we are! The line was short for a Saturday evening. The restaurant was clean and all the buffet stations were clean and maintained by staff. The selections were plentiful. They had several delicious pasta dishes and some long standing favorites such as beef and mashed potatoes. They offered some Mexican and Asian dishes but I was too full to try. The big draw was the one pound of crab legs per person. They were amazing-flavorful and easy to crack so as to enjoy all the deliciousness. One pound was very generous. It overflowed a dinner plate. I always love desserts and they had an amazing selection. I enjoyed the cheesecake and cannoli. I can't wait to go back! read more

I was playing blackjack and the dealer kept telling me to hit or stay like I don't know how to play or something. When I didn't listen to her she became aggressive and snapped at me telling me that's not what I'm supposed to do? What? I've been playing blackjack for years and I don't appreciate being told how to bet or play! Is the game rigged at this casino? I would say so. This place use to be fun but I've noticed a definite decline in the way staff acts to their patrons and it's unfortunate and unacceptable. I felt like they act like your money already belongs to them with no regard for customer service. Driving around the mountains just outside Denver, we happen to locate this beautiful casino hidden. The small town it is located in maintains the original town buildings to turn them into stores. It is a very charming place to walk around. The casino only has valet which is nice so you don't have to worry about remembering where you parked the car or having to walk back and forth in the weather. Each staff member we came across was very helpful and happy to greet you whether it was security, waiters, dealers, or custodians. The building seems to be new but well-kept on the inside based on the amount of business they were doing. The casino does have a player's club where you can earn the buffet and other rewards based on your playing mostly the slots. They had a huge variety of slots starting with penny machines all the way up from there. Some machines were all computerized while others were old school (my fav!). Machines let you play without just taking your money. I saw quite a few people when the jackpot on the machines. They were also having drawings for hundreds of dollars for being present and playing. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. We tried the other casinos but coming back to this one as it was so fun and clean. read more

I got a chance to check out The Lodge on a recent trip to Black Hawk, along with the majority of the other casinos in the area. I noticed early on that the property is under the same ownership as the Gold Dust West Casinos in Reno, Elko, and Carson City, NV - a few great properties that have been well-travelled for me in the past, so I was all in. Definitely one of the better ones on the Black Hawk gaming corridor in my experience so far. I got a free buffet voucher for signing up with the players club, and it looks like the comps accumulate very quickly - free cash and food offers arrive each month. I've only checked out the casino, Jake's Deli, and the Seasons buffet, which were great, so can't really comment on any other aspects of the property. Their players club is also tied in with the Gilpin, another great property just down the street. My only suggestion would be to bring in a few more of the traditional quarter Blazing Sevens machines, as there are only two at present. However, they fire pretty well! My husband and I visited for the first time yesterday to eat at the Seasons Buffet. The food was good, but here is the reason for my concern. They have a sign on the door like anyone else, requesting that you not enter if you have any symptoms of possible covid. The only places that actually take a temperature are the doctors offices I have visited. However, this business goes so far as to have their customers stand on a square while a camera scans your face for your "temperature." Your face is monitored in a square that reminds me of the facial recognition monitoring in China. And then as you move forward off the square, the monitor follows your face! While we willingly submitted to that to get to get in, I am now quite uncomfortable with the entire thing. It is an invasion of privacy. Apparently they cannot trust their customers to walk through the door if they feel well enough. Why should I patronize a business that wants to play Big Brother? Sorry. Me and my wife are current VIP Players but we are getting very unhappy playing slots here. We used to win often enough to make it worth our while. The slot machines have gotten so ridiculously tight that it is no longer enjoyable. We don't expect to win a hand-pay jackpot every time we go but to sit there week after week and not even break past $100.00 is not fun.
