    Review Highlights - Horstman Hut

The goulash was good and hearty, the meat pies came with a side of mashed potatoes, gravy, and a small wiener.

A Hidden Gem for Healthy Fast Food Lovers…read more I've been here several times now, and it's quickly become one of my go-to spots -- especially on those rushed mornings when breakfast or lunch just doesn't happen. What makes this place stand out is how well it balances convenience with clean eating. Whether you're counting calories, tracking your protein, or just trying to make better food choices, this is one of the rare spots where "fast food" doesn't mean compromising on nutrition or quality. You can eat healthy here -- like, actually healthy -- without it being boring or bland. Everything is made fresh right in front of you, and you can really see the care that goes into prepping each meal. The menu has plenty of variety, with something for just about every dietary need or craving -- from protein-packed meals to lighter options. The staff is consistently warm and professional. They greet you with a smile, remember your face (and sometimes even your usual order), and make you feel genuinely welcome. That kind of service is rare these days. The space itself is small but cozy -- not crowded or chaotic. It's got a chill vibe that makes it easy to sit down, take a breath, and enjoy your food in peace.

The ingredients were very fresh and the warm chicken paired nicely with the cold salad. Only one star down because they are a bit overpriced for the portion size

There are so many places in the Village in Whistler to eat it was a hard choice, but we decided to…read moregive Peaked Pies a try for lunch. Others have said they aren't traditional Aussie pies and I get that if that is your expectation. I always try to appreciate the cafe for their take on the food items. Peaked Pies didn't disappoint. It is a small spot with just a few tables outside and a few tables inside. The eatery gets pretty busy so we felt lucky to get a table inside. They have a lot of choices and we settled on the ones we wanted to try. I went with the veggie pie and added the mushy style peas, mashed potatoes and gravy to the top. Mr. B decided on the Kangaroo pie after talking to the staff. He was a little leary of where the Kangaroo came from, but we were told there is a farm in British Columbia that raises them, so he wanted to try something he had never had. Please see the note below about the kangaroo. There is a correction. The pies came out and were quite large, but we must have been hungry and they were scrumptious we finished them off. Let's start with the veggie pie. It was filled with veggies, carrots, potatoes, onion, corn, celery and yams. The sauce is a coconut milk based sauce and was creamy. The Hopper, with ground kangaroo was lovely. The pie is filled with ground kangaroo, and I mean ground, it was fine meat and stuffed full with a Cabernet Merlot Balsamic Reduction that balanced the sweetness of the meat. The service was great, the staff was nice, and helpful. Great choice. NOTE: I received a correction from the owner of Peaked Pies after posting this review. The Kangaroo is not sourced from British Columbia as we were told. While the food was excellent this was disappointing to hear. Mr. B specifically asked where the kangaroo was sourced as he didn't want frozen and would have ordered something else. I wanted to let you all know I was wrong as we were given inaccurate information from the staff.

I've never had an Aussie pie before, so when I was researching what I wanted to eat during my visit…read moreto Whistler, I made sure to add Peaked Pies to my list. I got the chicken, mushroom, and leek pie to go because I wanted to eat it outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Whistler. I thought I was going to be able to eat it by hand since they packaged it in a bag instead of a container. However, as soon as I started eating it, it immediately fell apart and I had to use a fork. It was really messy to eat. The crust was good and flaky, but the filling was nothing to write home about. It wasn't very thick and I guess I was expecting something more like a chicken pot pie. Again, this was my first time trying an Aussie pie, so maybe it's just my taste buds, but I wasn't too impressed.
