Frozen Margaritas were as expected. We're a long way from Texas. Fine but kinda tart even with a spicy rim. One was enough but it was nice to have with our Mexican food. This is what we got: - Chicken Tinga Burrito (4/5): I would have loved it to have a bit more of the Tinga sauce but overall it was a solid burrito with good flavoring. I LOVED the food and service here. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were delicious and a solid way to start the meal. I also loved the blended margarita drink and the Machu Picchu salad. Portions are large, which makes for great leftovers the next day. Service was super friendly and efficient. They had the Olympics on the TVs and it's just a fun and lively place to be. read more

I got a beef burrito for takeout at lunch time. They were pretty busy on a weekday. You can order at the ipad at the front. People were friendly enough. Place looked clean. The burrito had a nice soft flour tortilla. The beans, rice, beef were all well-cooked. However, I have a few issues. The burrito is really bland. They went very light on the seasoning in everything. Also, Salsa didnt have an ounce of heat, and nor did I have the option. Plus its Whistler. Its pretty overpriced. $20 for a burrito that was modestly sized. Plenty for a lunch meal but not worth $20. If you want Mexican-inspired food, sure. If you want really flavourful stuff you get in Mexico or in the southern US, look elsewhere. read more

Our first night at Whistler and we just wanted something fast and easy. We walked by Tacos La Cantina and we decided to grab some food. We ordered the beef pasilla and beef barbacoa tacos, sweet pork cantina bowl and the roast chicken soup. The tacos were tiny at $4.60 but I guess the good news is that it was packed with meat. The soup was flavorful and served piping hot. The cantina bowl was adequate, not great - not bad. It was pretty full for 6:00pm on a Sunday. We sat at the counter seating as that is all they had. 3.5 stars in general I wouldn't say this is the best Mexican food I've ever had in Canada , BUT it was definitely a good effort. They have these frappe margaritas that invite people to enjoy their tacos with margaritas. In general a good experience. Unfortunately the rice was not properly cooked, sort of raw (even crunchy) On the other hand, their options for tacos is good! And the SALSAS ARE THE BEST!! Salsas are truly authentic. Oh! Prices are super reasonable too and the food comes out pretty quick My favorite is the tacos, especially the chicken and pulled pork. So many things wrong at this Mexican joint...to start it is not inexpensive, about $18 for a bowl and this does not include guacamole OR pico for $2 each. Portion size tiny for what you are paying, a quarter cup of rice and the chips are placed into one top of the refried beans taking up 50% of the bowl, and covered in refried beans. Barbacoa was OK but somewhat fatty - trying to find a positive here is tough. I would avoid this place unless you are going for a frozen marg. read more

We love the tor casual, small and endlessly delicious Tacos La Cantina. Every visit to Whistler this is one of our first stops. It never disappoints. Today we had the green salad and with pulled chicken salad. I added my daughter's pico and it took it to the next level. We also had the always generous burrito with pulled chicken and simply elegant quesadilla. It's just beautiful and as delicious. Of course, the guacamole was fantastic, but even the large was not large. If you love guacamole, you know what I mean. Seating isn't ample and it's tight, but say hi to your close neighbor. La Cantina tacos at Whistler Marketplace has been around for quite some time but we've never had a chance to go since we keep going back to favourites. On a rainy off-day, we ventured out for some crêpes and the wait there was too long so we ended up at La Cantina. We were happy we did! The service was quick and the food was delicious. We ordered the chicken soup and though it was on the saltier side, it was quite filling with chicken and rice. We shared the sweet pork burrito which is a HUGE portion filled with a pulled pork, black beans, avocado, tomatoes and lettuce. It was very good. The guacamole and tortillas was quite good though I wish it had more flavour. This one tasted like it was straight avocado and onions. I've had tastier ones with different spices added. We ordered a trio of tacos: fish (the best!), sweet pork and beef. We'll most likely come by again on our next visit! read more

We ordered takeout. We tried almost all of the vegetarian tacos and they were satisfying and filling. The chorizo was a little spicy, which was expected. The rest had just the right amount of spice to bring out all the flavors. We did try a fish taco but it was less fish and more breading which was a little disappointing. 2.5 stars Definitely not authentic Mexican when they are using feta cheese. I got the pork cochinita burrito it was large and the texture was good I think it just needed more flavor not sure if just salt or spice too. It was filling and hit the spot but for the price I wish it had more flavor. There were 3 salsas I tried the habanero and pineapple. The habanero wasn't really hot maybe the heat of what I consider to be a normal red salsa. I added just a few drops to be cautious but ended up pouring it on. The pineapple salsa had the most flavor but wasn't hot at all. A mixture of the two was a pretty good mix. Service was friendly and quick, items came out of the kitchen in minutes. All the meats are braised so they are ready to go just put them in a tortilla shell and roll em up. Pretty smart business plan. So if you're looking for a quick casual meal without a lot of waiting this is a good option. They also had jackfruit as a vegan option, so there are a range of choices. I couldn't figure out how to tip with my credit card I think you have to press either percentage or $ amount on the top left and right of the key pad. Went here with the family while on our ski trip and it was a great casual dinner spot! We had a short wait but once we got seated everything was awesome. I got a chicken burrito and it was super filling and delicious. Two things of note for this place: 1. The guacamole to chip ratio was the best I've ever seen. We ate all of the guacamole without a chip left to spare, nor were any chip refills needed. Incredible. 2. The food came out within 3 minutes after ordering up at the counter. It came out so fast that we had to stay late and finish the drinks we ordered but couldn't drink! Overall 5/5 experience and would definitely recommend if you're in Whistler. read more

OMG can I just say the tacos were fantastic and the service was phenomenal. Works were happy and pleasant and extremely patient. My son and I got three tacos each and they were so delicious. When in Canada... am I right? I was born and raised in a Chicano family in New Mexico. Mexican food is in my soul and I take great pride in the greatest cuisine on earth. All of that to say, I had low hopes for a taqueria in a ski resort town in British Columbia. And I am pleased to report that my low expectations were far exceeded! Besides using feta cheese on some things (maybe that's just what's more accessible that Cotija?), everything was delicious! The fish tacos can rival any from San Diego. The ladies working there were super helpful and made sure I had everything I needed before I left. They're seemed to be pretty busy inside, but they were keeping cool. 10/10 would recommend if you have a taco craving I'm Whistler. read more

I've tried a lot of different restaurants in Whistler and most of them were expensive, bland, and just not worth it. Tacos La Cantina is by far one of the best places I tried that is indeed worth it and had very delicious food! I was hugely impressed with their fish tacos, which was my favourite. I also tried the chicken taco and I would recommend that as well. The beef taco I thought was just okay, but surprisingly they use grass-fed beef which I have to give bonus points for using high quality ingredients! I also tried the chicken burrito, but for some reason I thought the chicken taco tasted better. But the burrito itself was a huge generous portion and it was still delicious nonetheless. read more

They have vegan options, dairy free options, gluten free options and they are all delicious. They make it easy to pick out what taco, burrito, snack, meal or drink you choose. They have markers to tell you what is veggie friendly and gluten free. We went on a weekend afternoon and it was amazing service. They were quick, fresh and the customer service was friendly. The chips were stale, the pico de gallo had no flavor and rather than graciously offering to replace my stale chips they tried justifying them by telling me they were hard because they were corn tortilla chips. I did end up getting a new basket of chips and I ordered a small guacamole. The small guacamole was the size of a small to-go ketchup container. Save your money and go to the market next door and buy tortilla chips, tomatoes, onion, garlic, jalapeños and cilantro and make your own fresh pico de gallo. Snack Time at Tacos La Cantina - hopefully you didn't come here for a meal and ordered the tacos unless of course you are planning to get a platter of them, think of these itty bitty tacos as sliders or White Castles burgers until you order them by the dozen or half dozen these two bite tacos will only frustrate you. Beautiful scenery always seems to make things taste better, for instance if you were eating these in let's say your garage or in the parking lot at your local los cabo el cinco del taco hacienda you'd be pissed but in these accommodations while enjoying your vacation you may feel a few tacos, a beer and a cocktail for just under forty bucks is a steal and you are telling your mom or best friend about them until they're exhausted. Now there are some very positive things going on here, the staff was very friendly and efficient, the atmosphere whether you're inside or on the patio is festival and your eating decent tacos in one of the most beautiful places in the world - so yes I think the business owner has the advantage here but I'm also sure he worked hard to find a supplier that sells a 4" tortillas, on the other hand the line is out the door and seems to never stop, so grab a number and take your seat you can balance your checkbook when you get home enjoy... read more

I absolutely love TACOS so this was definitely a place that I had to check out during our getaway to Whistler. I had one of each vegan options. Jackfruit 6/10 The jackfruit taco was soooo spicy. Probably something that they should mention on their menu. The flavour wasn't anything amazing. It was so spicy and I couldn't taste anything else. Tofu 10/10 To be honest when I saw tofu on the menu I thought that this one was going to be super bland and boring but instead it was my favourite. It was soooo flavourful and the toppings worked really well together. Mestizo 8/10 I thought that this one would be my favourite but I found that it lacked a little flavour for me personally. Still good but not as much as the tofu one. I cannot wait to go back to Whistler and go back here. read more

Fast and delicious! Walked around the village looking for something to eat and this delicious smell was coming out of this restaurant so we decided to check it out. We decided on a burrito and a bowl. We both chose the chicken tinga for our proteins. The beans on my bowl were really good I think I enjoyed them the most out of anything in the bowl. Compared to the other places in whistler village, this place is pretty decent, but one of our friends that went with us found the food to be under spiced and included potato's and onions (which they hate) without any mention of including them. They scored points with us though for having a good handful of vegetarian options and having a good system set up. I always order tacos but the burritos look Fine! Also on my list for next visit is tortilla soup. Order a margarita, Jarritos, or a beer from Mexico & you're set! Walk up counter service, then they bring the food to you. I was in Baja recently, when I got home I craved a fish taco. The rock fish baked in corn crust totally fulfilled that craving! Delicious!! They add some pico de Gallo on top. Chicken Tinga is good too, I like touch of feta, then I add some hot habanero mmm. Both pork options are borderline sweet for me. But I stay with Pork Conchinita & go easy on the sweet-ish onions then add guac + habanero. Jack fruit taco is my fave. Look, I'm a meat eater but I love love this one. The salsa bar are little bottles of homemade sauce that you can squeeze on. I put a a little taster on my plate before adding on to my taco.
