We first met with Mike, owner of Horusicky Pools & construction, three years ago, when we bought our home in Palisades. Even though we told him we were still living out of state and wouldn't be back to build out the yard for a few years, he came to the house, spent a lot of time listening to what we wanted and gave us a written proposal. 3 years later we moved back and mike shocked me by remembering us, honoring the prices in the proposal, and then with his endless patience with our questions, changes and pestering! He accommodated last minute requests, he told me (which we appreciated!!) when some of our ideas wouldn't work, and transformed our tiny, muddy, palisades backyard. He didn't meet our expectations, he exceeded them! People can't believe how much larger our beautiful backyard is - we have a beautiful saltwater little pool, large extra jets spa, beautiful hardscape that he matched to the small existing hardscape, water wall, barbecue and fireplace with room for landscaping around it all to soften the look. It is so beautiful, my husband and I are constantly outside enjoying, with family, friends or just us empty nesters, living the CA dream! Very bad and horrible experience. From the first meeting with the owner of this company I did not have a comfortable feeling. He hesitated with every question in regards to the work that I wanted done with the remodeling of our family pool. After waiting a week after he left and I had not received a response I called and spoke to a woman in the office and was told that I would receive a reply within the next business day. 2 weeks later I called again to make my last attempt to at least receive a quote. When I did get the quote 3 days after that it was such a ridiculous dollar amount that I decided to go with a different company. The work that the other company did turned out wonderful. read more

Mike Horusicky is absolutely the best! Worth every penny you will spend--and what you will get is high quality, modern construction, state of the art pool/spa equipment, and Disney-level SERVICE. He completely remodeled our tired pool and even installed gas tiki torches -- like you find at resorts in Hawai'i -- which he had never done before. This is representative of his can-do attitude. When he made recommendations we weren't sure about, they turned out FOR THE BEST, so trust his word. Rarely will you find complete honesty and transparency in the highly competitive construction business, but you will here, as well as responsiveness-even after the job is long done. We call him for advice and service, and he responds quickly and with enthusiasm, as if the job was completed only yesterday. I do not believe you will regret retaining him and his company as your pool builder. Worth the wait, if you have to be put on a waiting list for your project, as we did. I have had a bad experience with a prior pool contractor which led to problems with the tiles around our pool edge and our water feature. I saw Horusicky Constructions Ad on the fence at Revere Middle school and decided to try a local, neighborhood company. They came out to give a bid to replace about half of the pool tiles and replace the stone of the water feature. After a week, no word. I emailed and was told I would receive the bid by the next day. No word. After another week I emailed and was told that the owner had been ill (understandably delay, but not without some word). Then I was told he didn't send the bid because he thought I wanted the work done immediately and they couldn't do it until after the Summer. I asked for the bid anyway....and it came back at $25,000! We had a pool and backyard renovation done by Mike in El Segundo. It was a large project and technically difficult involving a complex excavation with grading, block wall and a ton of concrete (Wow !I really did not realize how expensive concrete could be). When I was checking references I had called multiple people and they all gave him stellar reviews and now I understand why. He really had wonderful input and he was able to translate our ideas into a working project. He would often interject with things like maybe you shouldn't do that - you are making a mistake. He was always right and helped guide us... His pricing was on point with the quality of the workmanship and although not the cheapest he told us that he would not have overages and he was honest and kept his word.. His team (especially Jose) was stellar and always respectful of the property. Most of the work was performed by the team with the only exception being things that Mike said could be done better by other people (like interior plaster and stucco) At the end of our project I can say that Mike is honest, hardworking and performs. He built us a beautiful pool and grounds and is an absolute all round great guy.. It is important to realize his company has been around for a long time and he is training his kids to take over the business and this is not a fly by night operation. I used to be a building inspector in the Palos Verdes Peninsula area, so when it came time to build my own pool it was an easy decision to use Horusicky. I didn't even bother to entertain any other bids as I'd seen it all up there. Beware there are a lot of half hearted companies willing to do work on the cheap! I can guarantee you that it is always more expensive to go that route! It's been six years since they've built my pool and it's definitely been one of my best purchases. Horusicky Construction really took care of me (and continues to do so) and that's what counts! Mike came in and had his crew here the day after I called in a panic. He is such a nice guy and gave us an incredible deal, saving us thousands and relieving us from the stress of our yard/house flooding. Mike is the man! This is an update to my review of August 2016. Mike and his crew installed our gorgeous pool in spa three years ago and he continues to deliver excellent customer service. Mike installed several incredible features including waterfalls, a slide with a water jet, and a hot tub which spills into our pool. He also installed a beautiful natural stone deck, built in barbecue, and subterranean drains. While everything has run perfectly even with heavy use (we have three kids with a lot of friends who love to visit the pool!) occasionally we call Mike for a question or something we want looked at. Literally he responds to us right away. For example, we recently had some tree trimmers out and some heavy tree branches fell on our spa equipment. This in turn affected our spa waterfall. We were very worried because we love this waterfall feature which turns on daily at 7am and creates a wonderful sound. We emailed Mike because he's the only one we trust with this equipment. Within hours I heard the doorbell ring and I looked out the window and there was Mike and his truck. I couldn't believe how fast he responded. I know he is busy, but he still treats an old customer like they are #1. I graciously showed Mike the problem and he personally diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot. This man truly cares about his business and takes pride in his job. If you want a spectacular pool and spa with exceptional follow up care, look no further. Mike's your guy. read more

This is the third time I have used Horusicky Construction. This latest project was a small pool, patio, and trellis. Although I am not a big client compared to some of the other projects, I was treated as though I was their most important customer. The work is top notch. They came in on budget and time, and always had a site manager on the property to answer my questions. My house was left as clean as when they first arrived, and they even threw in some personal touches that really made the whole project shine. This was the biggest financial investment I have made besides the purchase of my home, and I am so glad that Mike and his crew made sure I was taken care of, even though my project was nowhere near some of the other work they do.
