Found this place while searching for someone to fix my issue asap. Mike was quick and responsive even arrived early. He arrived and fixed my refrigerator in 30 minutes, a little expensive for me, but it definitely beats having to purchase a whole new appliance. My refrigerator had stopped cooling and I had not notice the temperature was dropping till two days after, yes once all my freezer items had thawed out I didn't want to deal with the hassle of looking for the replacement and have to wait for shipping etc. As I was already frustrated having to throw everything away. We have previously used Hot & Cold on 3 occasions, twice for the dishwasher and once for our washing machine. Our experience working with Mike has been highly satisfactory. Last month, the dishwasher stopped working and Mike diagnosed the problem, sourced and then replaced the water valve at a fair price and we were back in business. This past week, water stopped flowing again and we feared valve failure or something worse. Mike was at our house the next day, on time and within 10 minutes of arriving had diagnosed the problem (I learned a little trick to fix it, too) and had the thing working perfectly again. The worst service call I've ever experienced! I had a 1.5 yo washer that wasn't turning on. There was power to the outlet, no tripped circuit. Since it had an electrical touch panel, I called for service. Mike came out. Walked up to the machine. I told him it didn't turn on. Immediately he said 'you need a new panel which is expensive.' He didn't even bring any tools inside with him! Just his phone. He didn't even try anything to troubleshoot. Then he said 'You should buy an LG front loader. They are best.' And he was finished. $75 for that. I checked YouTube and actually fixed the washer myself. A very simple issue with the panel. Didn't cost me anything. Don't bother calling him for service! You will waste your time and money. read more

We are very pleased! Making an appointment was easy. Mike was prompt and responsive. He diagnosed the refrigerator problem we were having and explained everything well. He worked with our home warranty and did the repair. Mike was great. He came on a very rainy day but was very considerate, taking off his shoes every time he came inside from his truck which I really appreciated! He fixed the loud squeak in our dryer by replacing the rollers and bearing. He showed us the belt and said there were no cracks but gave us the choice if we wanted to replace it or not. I appreciated his honesty. He said there was a 30 day warranty on the work he completed. I would definitely use Mike again! I'm sorry to say I cannot recommend this service provider. He was very friendly and prompt to come look at our ice maker, but he fiddled with it for about an hour, charged me $180, and it still doesn't work. If anything it's worse now because it keeps making a buzzing noise that is unbearable. He also needed to borrow towels from me to deal with melted ice and I wonder what he would have done if I didn't have any. Then when he was done with the towels he just threw them on my kitchen floor, didn't ask where I wanted them or that he was done and I could take them away. My refrigerator/freezer was making a knocking sound then stopped cooling. This is a very common issue and it means the compressor is bad. From my own internet research plus talking to a repair person over the phone I knew there was a 99% chance this was the problem. I set up a time with Mike to come over and look at it and hopefully repair it. I explained on the phone and over text this was the problem and gave him the make/model. I also told him it was no longer in warranty. He came over, looked at it for literally 2 seconds, and confirmed it was the compressor. He encouraged me to call and check on the warranty again which I did to humor him. He waited for about 10 minutes playing on his phone while I did so. Yep, out of warranty. He gave me the price to repair ($850) and then charged me $75 for his "work" of parroting back to me what I told him and playing a game on his phone while he waited for me to talk to LG. Why not just give me the repair price over the phone?!? He also should have told me it was $75 to come out. I would not have hired him at that point (which is obviously why he didn't tell me - he wanted easy money). It was my fault for not being more proactive about asking he was planning to do during his visit and the cost. I've had a lot of workmen in my home recently for other repairs and all of them gave free estimates, but it was my mistake for assuming this guy would be the same. Still, I feel totally ripped off. $75 for less than 15 minutes of "work." I had a lot on my plate and did not have the time or energy to argue with him so I just paid him so he would leave. Avoid this guy. He's a borderline scammer. An honest repair person would have told me over the phone the repair price for the compressor and that it was $75 for him to come out and confirm the diagnosis. Every other repair person, whether it is a plumber, electrician, or whatever else has always told me up front what their trip charge is. read more

We called Hot and Cold Appliance Repair because our dryer wasn't heating properly and spoke to Mike Lim. Mike said he could come out that day and provided a time frame. In short, Mike was great! He was on time and had our dryer apart and working in no time. Mike was great to work with and we will definitely call him in the future should the need arise. As first time home buyers, having anything wrong with your appliances and trying to navigate it can be difficult. We had a fridge/freezer that wasn't working and Mike was the first person we came across. Mike was amazing, came out to see us the same day. He was super cheerful and pleasant to work with. He was informational and worked to explain the problem and quick solution to fix it. He left the area cleaner than when he arrived and gave us great advice to make sure we didn't ruin our new floors. Our refrigerator stopped working and Mike came by quickly and dragonized the problem. It was the compressor. He told us that LG would cover the cost of the part and he could fix it once we got a replacement. He gave us the information we needed to call LG to order the replacement part. We had told him we wanted the refrigerator repaired before Thanksgiving which was less than a week away. Once the part was received Mike came by late in the evening and completed the repair. Used him for work on my oven only because he was the first one to get back to me. Although he was prompt and very methodical in his work, he was way over priced after speaking to other companies and telling them what I needed with out telling them what I was charged. If you are going to use them, be very clear on his charges. I believe I was taken advantage of as I look back. read more

Mike came over to service my refrigerator, it was not staying cold. He was available to come the same day. He looked at it and told me it was the compressor and that I should call the manufacturer to see if it was still within warranty. While I ended up not using him for the repair in the end, he was very honest and was not trying to sell me on something I didn't need... will call him again in the future. read more

I hired Mike to fix my dryer. He told me it was a sensor and a pulley.... He charged me $220 to "repair" the dryer.... As soon as he left (literally), our dryer stopped working again.... I called him, he hit the auto ignore response on my phone call, so I texted him about the situation. He said that he would not come to repair the sensor until I paid someone else to clean the air duct vent (which was actually causing the dryer to malfunction). I hired someone to come clean the vent. Mike came back and "fixed the sensor." My 20 year old daughter tried to speak with him after about the extremely loud noise the dryer was making and he ignored her said it was fixed and walked out of our home. I texted him and asked him about the noise and he said it was the drums.... I asked if that was part of the 30 day warranty? He said no, that is what actually is wrong with the dryer.... and it would be a seperate charge. He was dishonest, had no problem taking money from a single mother of 4 children, knowing and later admitting that he did not fix the problems. I am disputing the charges and I would not recommend him nor his services to anyone. So disappointed, and very disheartened. read more
