Not only did the major stuff get fixed, but also every nick and scratch was filled, smoothed and removed. The cello looks a lot better now. Also, he saved us some money by working on repairing existing pieces, instead of just replacing the bow. He did advise us on better handling of the bow to avoid future problem, and also that the bow fix could be just a temp thing, and might still fail. That was back at end of March. The bow is still being abused daily here! =) Once again, thanks for the artisan-ship, for the professionalism and for the time you took talking to my daughter and I. We always learn something valuable from you! =)

I brought a guitar to JP guitars for a fret level and crown because it was experiencing some…read moreunusual fret buzz on the lower frets. I have done guitar setups and basic repair for 20+ years and a good setup did not alleviate the buzz. Jack gave an estimate turnaround of one week. 10 days later I inquired about the status. Nothing has been done yet. 2 hours later I was called to come pick up the guitar. The guitar had been setup, but has not been leveled or crowned, because Jack forgot to do it. Another week goes by and I'm called to pick it up again. Jack's apprentice told me that he, not Jack, did the fret level, which surprised me, but I assumed he was capable. I did expect Jack to do the repair, however, because that's what I was paying for. $180 out the door. The action had been set high, but I figured "Maybe Jack like it that way", so I took it home and set it up. 1.5mm on the high E, 2.0mm on the low E, slight neck relief. The same frets buzzed, in the same way as before. I am confident that no fretwork was done. I called Jack and told him the problem was still there and that I had expected him to do the job, not his apprentice. Jack said that he did the level, so did his apprentice lie? Did Jack? Jack told me that my action (1.5-2.0mm) was too low, then demanded that I bring another guitar to him to prove that the problem was the guitar, not me. I did not get a refund. I later took the guitar to another repair shop where I was told that a competent fretjob would have alleviated the buzz where it was occurring. Look, I've seen Jack's guitars in his shop and they're beautiful. I have no doubt that they also play beautifully. But, as far as my guitar was concerned, something didn't happen right. Either Jack's apprentice did the job (which I didn't pay him to do), or Jack did the job poorly (which I payed him to do well), or it didn't get done at all (which is theft). Not saying he isn't a good luthier, I just did not have a good experience whatsoever.

I recently found one of my old brass instruments, the trumpet in storage and recognized the valves…read morewere stuck after a decade of sitting, never been professionally cleaned ever, just needed a good service and Seattle Sound Repair came through. 1. I called ahead to ask if I can bring in my trumpet for an estimate for services. 2. I got there, got an estimate for services. I was also informed that I would be notified if the cost would be greater. 3. I did get a phone call that the trumpet for the most part was done but there were other issues (which I knew existed when I first had it over two decades ago) which could be resolved but it'd cost extra. I agreed to it. I figured if I'm going to get it serviced, I should just pay to get it serviced in full and the right way. The communications were timely and transparent. Looking around the place reminds you of a music store Mr. Rogers would have visited. I'm happy there is a brick-and-mortar shop that still performs this craft of repairing instruments. Also, out of all the years I've played this old Yamaha trumpet, it never played so great as it does now. It pays to have a professional service. Of note, best time to go here is in the morning if you drive because there's a good chance you'll find free 2 hour parking.

Today was Awesome, I went into G C to get my new guitar, One Of the Sales Guys Kevin, helped me out…read moreand went and got it out of the back for me, I was super excited, I am disabled, Kevin asked if I wanted help to my Car, But here is the best part, Kevin has been helping me out for at least 4 years now, well about a month ago, I traded a guitar and some pedals for a used guitar, I was so excited about how fair Kevin treated me, I left one of my pedals behind, didn't even think about it, well today when Kevin saw me, he said he had a surprise for me, it was a missed pedal that I left during my last transaction , I couldn't believe it, the honesty, the Awesome customer service, Kevin doesn't just care about the company only, he cares about the customer, And that's very rare these days Kevin made my day, He's The Man! They then brought Matt, the technician, from the back to explain to us the differences in the two models that they had to offer. What a pleasant way to spend an afternoon! So friendly, fun and knowledgeable! I didn't have the opportunity to meet Jeff but I spoken with him over the phone and he's so pleasant to talk to. I had a question today and when I called a young lady named Charlotte answered and true to form was as pleasant as everyone else in that store is. It's a long drive for me but very well worth it to receive that kind of exemplary customer service! Especially in a time where kindness and customer service seem to be at a minimum.
