We purchased a used sax for my son a couple months ago. Was told we get a free inspection and adjustment, including up to 2 new pads. We left it with them and picked it up a little later. Fast forward 2 months and my son is complaining now that his skills have increased and his private instructor said to get it checked out. We dropped a light inside in a dark room and there is light everywhere with the keys closed. If you press really hard you can get rid of most but not all of the light. Paying Ted Brown $225 to get a couple new pads, a hole leveled, and a couple bent keys fixed. My son has babied this thing so I know it's not new damage. I doubt they actually looked at it. Buyer beware. Otherwise we are happy with the purchase, just won't be going here for servicing. read more

I took my friends amp here to be repaired as a gift. The tech called me and accused me of stealing the amp and he would not work on it. I called and explained how it was a surprise for my friend and I wanted it repaired. Recieved a call from music 6000 saying the amp was fixed and ready for pickup. I wasn't able to make it in myself so I called my friend and he was excited to go get it! They charged him for the service. And then explained that they didn't actually fix it because they deemed it not worth it... Which was never explained to me. I asked them to repair it regardless of the cost. It was an amp with sentimental value. So after my friend left with a broken amp he had to pay for.. I called. I asked for an exlenationtion of the miscommunication and what it would take to fix it after all. The girl on the phone accused me of trying to pick a fight. Simply by asking how we could fix this. And admittedly it was a bit frustrating being told it was fixed and done. Only to pay and find out they didn't do anything to it. (I was very nice on the phone. Its what I do for a living) She continued out of no where telling me how she felt "threatened and triggered." With the final statement of "I'm terminating this phone call" And hung up on me. Now I have a broken amp and paid for nothing. Really sad. I used to shop here all the time and even knew the owners. I would have paid more than what a new amp costs just to get this one fixed. But that girl wouldn't even give me the time of day and kept talking over me about how threatened she felt. Which I must say is hilarious and a tad bit sad. Unfortunately I think I will take my business elsewhere. And after sharing about my experience, few friends of mine and business I associate with feel the same. I have know the owners for a long time. I have bought guitars, amp, drum cymbals , drum heads and sticks, ect, ect. from them. Went in to buy a couple of pinchiometers and Jeff told me it wasn't worth his time to order a couple of them. Maybe it's not worth my time to buy anything from them either. I've been shopping at Music 6000 for over 20 years. They have been good in the past and if you are buying small items, things are fine. I had the unfortunately experience lately of trying to consign a few items at their store half of which I purchased there in the past. Whoever said the older staff are sometimes rude is correct. I was told to remove all of my items in the store and that they were 'burdened' with selling my equipment which was either junk or broken. My equipment literally sat for 4 weeks while I left them alone to price and put the items out on the floor. Never did I get a call back from the owner after wanting to talk politely about this issue. I think this store has seen better days. Just pick up the phone guys and lets have a conversation. read more

I took my nephew to purchase a new instrument and the customer service was terrible. First, the sales woman told us they had to buy the broken case with the $400 instrument, offering to glue it upon purchase. When asked if there was new different case, she laughed at me. Again, when we asked how to assemble the instrument because this was the first time my nephew had held the band instrument, she scoffed and said, "I'm not a teacher." I am so disappointed in the experience because this store is where I bought my first saxophone. The experience was so fond that I was excited to go with my nephew for his first instrument. We left without purchasing the instrument because of how cold and rude the sales associated had been to them. The guitar staff and selection, I give five stars. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the drum department. It's simple, really, they purchased my drum set, which had been stolen from my home, "hot", from some guy in a van. They paid almost nothing, since the criminal had no clue of its worth. Days after the burglary, I began searching the region for my stolen gear; I found the drum kit in their "used" section. I called the Sheriff, and one came. I proved to the Deputy that the kit was one of a kind, and that it was mine. The stands and other hardware were there, but not the cymbals; all sets were displayed without cymbals; that was normal in the store. The drum manager could not seem to remember if cymbals had been with the kit when they bought it from the criminal. He said he didn't "do the buy". (But it's his department, and he didn't try to find out.) I could actually see a stack of used cymbals in some back office, line of sight from the retail floor, leaning against a desk, but the manager refused to let me go look. I wonder to this day, why I didn't march into that office, pick up the cymbals, and say, "like these?". The Sheriff told me, "Let me handle this", as police understandably do, and that if he found out later the guy was lying that it wouldn't go well for him. At any rate, the drums and stands were seized by the Sheriff's deputy, and went into evidence for the robbery and trafficking cases. Just got drums back this week, finally, it's been nearly a year - but that's another story. The good news is that I can finally post about the Music 6000 Drum department. This post is backed up by police reports in my possession, and on record, so go ahead and bring a lawsuit against me. Happy to "go there". Again, the rest of the store is great. Guitar section - outstanding. They may not want to see me again after this post, but they are honest, friendly, and helpful. One bad apple. I attempted to contact the owners about this, multiple times, but they never got back to me. Again, again, I encourage you to support their guitar staff - they are gold. Drums? I recently decided to start taking lessons in electric guitar. The instructor recommended that I visit Music 6000 to find a good guitar/amp package. When I arrived, the staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, explaining the differences between each of the different beginner Fender Squier guitar packages to me. When I selected the guitar I wanted (which was the display model), they buffed it out, packaged it in the box like new, and then gave me a 10% discount, which was greatly appreciated since I was purchasing the higher end Squier. They helped me bring it out to my car and load everything up for me as well. Very positive experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone like me who is looking to buy their first instrument. Music 6000 is still my go-to music store for most everything I need. On a recent visit earlier this year, I was looking for a specific pedal board for guitar effects pedals. I knew exactly which one I wanted, but Music 6000 didn't have it in stock. They were able to order it, get it in quickly, and still give me a 5% military discount! Of course, while I was in the shop, I also found a guitar on a special I couldn't refuse :) I've been in the store numerous times and the staff is always very knowledgeable about their product line. This is a really good music store. Good selection of guitars, basses, strongs, pianos, amps and the drum department is REALLY good. Great selection of quality gear at some really great prices. Good mark downs on quality equipment they've had for a while. Hell, I spent a lot of money at this place back in the day and I was glad to because for the most part the employees were helpful and it was a good deal. I did special orders a couple of times and it was surprisingly hassle free. M6K has the opposite philosophy of most music instrument shops because most will stock the place with junk that will sell to the lower end without respecting the consumers intelligence about the products available out there. M6K puts stuff in that might not be bottom shelf, but is great quality merchandise at or sometimes below online prices. Another cool thing they used to have (not sure if they still do) is the "No Sales Tax" weekend. Buy a bunch of stuff, and they don't charge you the sales tax. M6K is a great asset to an area with a lot of musicians. This is one of the best music instrument shops outside Nashville (which probably has the best shops in the US). read more

Started going here when son needed a rental for band. Now it's a granddaughter who wants to learn music. These people are a great resource for advice on instruments and for music instructors' names. And they carry everything. Was guided to a particular Yamaha keyboard and was considering getting one from an online source, then I remembered getting a broken keyboard once through the mail. I've only shopped in the guitar & amp section, but I've always been treated with patience and quality advice. The sales staff knows that you need to play a lot of different guitars to find the best one for you. Most of them are real musicians and can answer your questions from personal experience. This is a family owned one-of-a-kind shop. It's a good place to develop a relationship with the sales staff. They have good entry level guitars, mid-level guitars, and pro guitars all there for the browsing. I've been inside a lot of guitar shops, and this is hands down one of the best. read more

I am very happy with the service he has provided me because I know what to expect and I know the value of the merchandise I wish to sell. Jeff knows his business and negotiates aggressively but in the end, you can come terms with him. That is how all business should be conducted. His store is beautiful and the grounds and parking lot at his wonderful location are very nicely kept. It is a joy to still be able to do business at a local music store. If you live in the lower Puget Sound this is the go-to place for your music supplies. I have purchased two high-end guitars there over the years. Their black Friday special offered a 15% discount. Sure you can find guitars cheaper on the internet but you won't be able to play them first. This is exceptionally important as every single guitar will sound and play a bit different than the next, even the same model. The staff and owner are exceptionally knowledgeable accommodating and helped me narrow down the best guitar for me, lots of patience on their part. I want to like this place so bad. I do. There are only a handfull of music stores in the Oly area and so many people love these guys and tell stories about them like they invented music and talk about Smitty and Guitar Dan or whatever and the folks at this store like they are angels. I have lived here for 10 years and have spent so much money here thinking that maybe I just need to develop a relationship and someday I'll feel this magical bond with this shop just like everyone else seems to have. But seriously you walk in and are invisible. It's almost like the Best Buy experience where no one is there when you need them, but when you are just browsing they follow you like you are about to rob the place. I bought new guitar strings and brought my guitar to be restrung and tuned. Unfortunately I don't know how to tune it on my own so had a clip style tuner attached to it. I didn't even think about removing it because it's always been part of my guitar. Unfortunately it got lost in the tuning process and wasn't in my case or on my guitar. I am certain nobody kept it because they wanted it but believe it got lost or maybe stuck in someone else's case I don't know? The owner could not replace it with another fender guitar tuner. But the first gentleman I talk to on the phone told me that there's nothing he could do, that there was a box of old tuners upfront I can go look for mine up there. It was just a fiasco and I felt like they thought I was trying to rip them off. I could either take one of their offbrand tuners or order a $20 new one ..but they cannot give me a new one. What should've been something very simple turned into a big fiasco as far as I'm concerned.. and a month went by before I could even pick up my guitar and play it because it wasn't tuned when I got it back. It was more of a stomachache and nerve-racking a little bit for such a small item. I soon as I got off the phone with the owner (which it was suggested that I wait and talk to him when he is in), I am mediately called Sweetwater music line and ordered one. I have a brand new one on the way that is made by fender like my old one, it was only 9.99 and no shipping. The best part of it is whenever you call Sweetwater music, even though they cater to many very famous people... they treat everybody like royalty. You feel like royalty when you get done talking to them. I bought my guitar from them years ago, which was just a beginner acoustic fender guitar... I still occasionally get a call from someone at Sweetwater to see if my equipment is OK. They have really good prices and anything you don't like is guaranteed. I know that a lot of their customers are very famous people.. because I know some of them, but I always feel like royalty when I get finished working with them. Show me a company in this day and age that makes people feel like that, and I will figure out a way to patronize them. read more

I met up with a childhood friend(who turned out be a great vocalist and overall musician) and we needed somewhere to play a couple of songs so we decided on the only well-known music shop in the area: Music 6000. We went straight to the acoustic room where they try to limit "jam time" to 15 minutes. We had another person with us who was just looking at their front room inventory when they witnessed the worst experience I've had in ANY music store. We weren't in there 10 minutes before one of the employees started literally rolling their eyes at us and the manager said to him "Why don't you go back there and ask them if they need anything so they stop playing?"...They did. This is not how any music store should be, they should encourage the musicians that go in there regardless if they're one of the greats or just a beginner. I may not be the best guitarist there is, and my friend may not be the best singer in the world(although he is REALLY good), but there shouldn't be a reason to discourage ANYBODY that walks through their doors. When we left, I called and asked to talk to the manager(who was the person who told the associate to get us to stop playing) and he didn't care. When I told him what happened, he told me "I'll make sure to pass it on to the associates on the floor" and "we sell the guitars and we don't want them to get scratched, cause that can happen when people play them" and left it at that. Needless to say they've forever lost not only MY business, but that of most local musicians I'm in contact with. No music store should have staff that discouraging. No music store should tell people not to play. No music store should stay in business when they treat people like that. Goodbye forever, Music Sux-thousand. read more

My husband and I went in a few minutes before 5pm a couple Sundays ago not knowing that they closed at 6. Their front door was wide open and so we didn't see their hours of operations. The woman behind the counter said rudly, we close in a few minutes. My husband said I'm sorry online I thought it said you were open until 6 on Sundays. She replied, READ THE SIGN ON THE DOOR! My husband then answered, your door was open and we didn't see it. She then said something about looking harder. We left and won't come back. It was an honest mistake that we didn't know they were about to close. I know we all have bad days but you never argue with your customer. read more

There's just a few who are always in the way of me making purchases on things I'm well educated on because of their personal opinions.
