I'm a Nashvillian living on LI so a Nashville-style hot chicken spot was obviously on my list to try. We had the tenders plate, chicken sandwich, sides, and a couple drinks. First thing's first, the chicken was not hot enough at all to be authentic. A legit hot chicken spot should hurt. Anything "hot" or higher should probably incite tears. In Nashville, I typically go for the mildest option cause I have a low pain tolerance, but the "medium" and "hot" offerings here were more on par with the lightest spice levels of Prince's and Bolton's (the OG's). The chicken itself was fine, but I expected a bit more from the breading - crispier, perhaps? The sandwich did have a nice flavor all together and the sides were all tasty though, especially those onion strings! The biggest sin against the South was the sweet tea, but then again I haven't had a decent sweet tea in public since moving up here. Iced tea should be brewed from bags, not from some tea concentrate. This is weird and I don't understand how folks up here drink it. Please buy some Luzianne and brew real tea in a Nashville-inspired restaurant. I will say that the strawberry lemonade was delicious, so that did help! Only other weird thing? A packet of ranch just doesn't cut it the way something homemade does. Then again, maybe y'all just don't love ranch the way we do down south... All things considered, it's still a good spot, don't get me wrong! They were organized and taking COVID seriously, which is highly appreciated. So to be honest I never heard of this place until I was on TikTok one day and it turns out that this super famous tiktoker works there and then I KNEW I HAD to try it out. So I went there to test it out one day. I tried the Sando (Sandwich) and the Mac and cheese. LET ME TELL you RIGHT NOW, the famous tiktoker wasn't lying. The food was so amazing. You need to try the Mac because the worker told me they make the cheese sauce from scratch and it makes it so much better than all the fake macaroni places out there. Now this place has 6 different heat levels, I went with Hot which is the 3rd hottest on the menu and it was spicy. They use Habanero for the hot dry rub spice. I also found out they use ghost pepper and Carolina reaper for the spices hotter than the one I got. The sandwich was amazing not only were the portions perfect for me but the chicken was cooked perfectly and the crunchy pickles and the cold slaw with the comeback sauce made the sandwich one of the best things I've had in a while. Came when it wasn't crowded, just before more of a rush. Ordering was easy, food was ready very quickly! My wife and I each ordered the Sando. Sandos are nice and big, so we're keeping half for lunch the next day. Sauce and slaw were good, though we expect the potato buns will no longer have the molecular structure of potato buns by lunchtime tomorrow. But I like a soggy sando from time to time. Cheese sauce was good, the fries reminded us of BBQ potato chips (though not as intense), and the lavender lemonade is killer. Which brings me back to the chicken itself. My wife and I got our Sandos with Medium heat, However, these tasted like Easy heat. We were expecting a little more of a burn. Also, the chicken could have used some salt in the seasoning. We thought it was just our sandwiches, but I also took a bite of my daughter's nuggets and while they were crispy, they tasted quite bland...like they were missing something. I'm not expecting blood pressure-raising, fast food levels of salt, but it needed a little NaCl extra to bring out more flavor. Still, this place is only about 5-10 minutes away, and I know they're still working out the kinks. We'll be happy to give them another shot and hope that this was an off night! The chicken itself was not dry but the breading was so dark (bordering on burnt) that I couldn't taste it. Very greasy too. This is one of those local gems; I only wish we were local, as we normally drive almost an hour to come here. I've been going to this spot 1-2 times a week since they opened and oh man is it worth it. Always get the Loud sando with some XL nugs on the side. you can't go wrong with anything here, this place respectably slaps. So just tried hot chicken mama and oh man its good. I got medium heat chicken sandwich. Bc of covid u wait in your car and they text when your order is ready. My order was ready really quick. The fries were good and the workers were very friendly. The cooks even greeted me hello when i walked in. I have one complaint and to most people it wouldnt matter. I wish i could get just the sandwich and not get fries. I liked the fries but if me and my husband go together we could just share fries since i cant eat that many. This is a great place for Nashville style hot chicken. Such a rare thing here on Long Island! Very good sized portions and the quality of the chicken is excellent. Just got lunch at the most delicious spot! Hot Chicken Mama !!! Right across from Don Quixote in Patchogue. Had a delicious HUGE sandwich, haystack onions, fries, and peach sweet tea. Took it to go but they have tables inside and outside. Very reminiscent of Hattie B's in Nashville. I've ordered the same order - 3 piece medium tender - about 5 times now and this is my review: The first time I dined in. As another reviewer claimed, there were at least 5 people behind the counter when you walk in, they all see you but not one person greets you. We were the only people there and they were literally just standing around, no orders to fill. Greet us. Each time I've ordered I've been less and less impressed with the exception of their fries. The first time I went they were serving frozen crinkle-cut fries. Very unappealing and didn't get eaten. Now they are amazing. More homestyle and just amazing. I finish them before even touching the chicken. About the chicken. The first few times I was very happy with the quality of chicken. Thick white meat. But 1 out of 3 of the tenders usually seemed to be tough or have a weird crunchiness to the meat itself. Today was the last day I'll be ordering from HCM because today it ended up being 2 out of 3 tenders were like this. I really wanted to enjoy this place....the smell of burnt fryer oil should have been my first red flag...as someone that has worked in restaurants for years, you know the distinctive smell of over used oil. Second counter staff was unconcerned and 0 help, offered no help when it came to being first time visitors or if there were even specials.. I really REALLY wanted to like this place. I got my food to go at the end of the day which might be where I went wrong on my part, or maybe it's the taking food to go where I went wrong. Either way it just wasn't the best. /: The mac and cheese was tasty, the Brussels were good, but the 3 star review is in majority due to the overwhelming amount of grease everything was sitting in. The fries were beyond soggy, I didn't even bother trying the onion strings. Very disappointed. The place itself is cute but staff were very quiet and just gave an awkward vibe. This place looked great, but it could have been a lot better. The chicken sandwich is 14$ and it's just 2 jumbo chicken tenders on a bun with fixings. The jumbo tenders are 12 and you get 3, that's what I got. You can pick between 5 spice levels, I chose 3. It wasn't a little hot but I think personally would have liked 4 better. The chicken was decent, the tenders were abnormally large, oily and the breading was falling off in places. The meal comes with fries as well. If you want a drink it's an additional 3-5$, they have special lemonades and they're 5 that's what I got. A few hours after I finished eating, I did not feel very good. Besides not feeling well, the food was still mediocre at best and over priced. If it was cheaper it would have been better. Has potential, but needs new direction. Chicken nuggets are extremely large - one nugget is the size of a fist and though the seasoning is almost there the cook on the chicken is just over done. Nuggets we're very dry and burnt. It truly does have potential if they A) use smaller white meat chicken B) cook time not exceed 2-3 minutes. I really want to like this place, I really do! We need a really good chicken place in the area. The onion strings are great, the cole slaw is delicious, and the mac n cheese is wonderful. Even the brussel sprouts have great flavor albeit I'd prefer them a little crispier..but that's me. I LOVE hot food. I add hot sauce to just about anything I can and order the hottest Indian curries while asking the chef to make them the way they would in India, not cooled off Amercian style. The chicken is cooked nicely and then covered in what appears to be a dry rub. I've always used dry rubs before cooking, not coating a chicken tender already fried in a thick slather of salt, sugar, and spice, the main ingredients of a dry rub. I ordered level 4 out of 6, thinking this would be sufficient heat. After one bite I threw out the chicken. The heat was overwhelming and the salt made it inedible. If the rub had been incorporated into the coating before cooking, it probably would have been fabulous. This is probably just my preference and I don't want to discourage heat seekers from trying the chicken, but be warned. If you can take a teaspoon of hot hot hot dry rub and enjoy it on it's own out of the jar, then this chicken is for you. read more

So wanted to love this new place. But sadly it was a miss for me. Ordered the chicken sando with homestyle sauce with a side of mac and cheese. I wasn't expecting the chicken to have a dry rub on it. The rub unfortunately just made the chicken very dry and took over. If the chicken had been actually toasted in the homestyle sauce I think would have made a big difference. So after HCM announced a collaboration w'Peach & Pine Cafe a completely vegan long time 'pop-up' now w'their very own truck HCM was not to be missed by THIS vegan even if it was bit of a drive from Nassau C'ty! Evidently there is a line most of the time here & this special, which sold out first day, only to be resupplied w'P&PC's buttermilk flavored plant based chik'n for Sat. to be again sold out, simply made the lines worse! Even after 2 days of seemingly non stop lines these folk handled everything very well. The wait to order was out the door, but the line moved along & the wait for your order was reasonable. My only caveat once I stepped up to the counter was they were charging an extra $5 for a normally $13 plate when it's 'real' chicken! This is not the place to discuss the 'why' of a vegan version of 'real' chicken but be aware this is very quickly growing segment of the population here on Long Island! While giving pause about any future meals here I was swept up in the enthusiasm for this recent addition to the fast food of Blue Point! It was seriously delicious & worth the trip for the experience of their 'Sando' or fried chicken sandwich w'your choice of 5 different levels of hot sauce, pickles, red cabbage slaw & 'special sauce'! P&PC's vegan chicken was absolutely the best I've had yet, though LI has some very credible offerings. I tried the Medium sauce which had the perfect 'tang' for me, allowing the other tastes to come through. They need a more 'full grain' roll that doesn't fall apart w'the sauces & pickle juice....skip it, I'd have enjoyed the 'sando' much more if I had. If I'd have removed the roll on the finished s'which I'd have lost all the 'secret sauce' as it all soaked into the bread. Their fries are plain old frozen crinkle cut fries, but they were cooked in correct temp' oil, which is amazing w'the lines, so they were light & fluffy & the seasoning they use made them 'special'! This place had been seemingly mobbed since they opened 5 hours earlier but it seemed they had sufficient crew to keep up w'the crowd. Trash cans were being emptied as they overflowed, and while it was far from 'perfect' the bathroom was certainly "OK" considering how many people were there mid afternoon on a Sat. If they hadn't added 1/3 to almost half again the regular price to my vegan version I'd have given 5 stars happily. When I commented on social media HCM came back w'excuses like having to pay extra workers to provide the 'vegan' version & buying P&PC's chicken. When I was on line I ended up chatting w'a woman who had travelled further than I, to support this restaurants foray into a vegan version of their star attraction, & we both agreed on the need to do so, but when one feels 'taken advantage off' it's another thing! Some ingredients for vegan food are more costly......cheese for example is roughly 2X the price of USDA subsidized dairy cheese, so an 'up-charge' is understandable & we ALL pay extra for vegan pizza happily. Plant based meat has ingredients that cost far less than 'real' chicken even though that too is subsidized by the USDA, so having to buy P&PC's chicken couldn't have been reason for $5 more. P&PC's sells the same Chic'n for considerable less than $18. Yeah I'm b_______ing but @ a nice round $15 instead of $13 for their regular I could have skipped complaining & just said it was delish! Next time don't be so greedy HCM! Vegans don't mind paying a bit extra but we also don't want to be 'taken to the cleaners'! read more
