I've come to Rudi's a few times. My friend Dave G does Karaoke here on a Thursday night it's currently his latest Thursday night gig. I don't really make the drive too often because I get out of work late and even though I drive far, Patchougue can be a bit much from my job, but I have come a few times. It's an awesome place. They run specials on the food for the time I'm there on a Thursday night and specials are always a good thing. The service is pretty quick. The bartenders are very nice to me always refilling my seltzer pretty fast. It's also a fun atmosphere and karaoke here is great! It's a fairly nice place to hang out.

Full rack of ribs, fries, Rudi's Lager.

Rudi's Bar and Grill continues to be one of my favorite places to go for a beer, meal, and to see a game. There are food and drink specials every day. Happy Hour specials are also very good with drink specials. I tried the new Shrimp and scallop wrap. It is very good. The French fries are seasoned and nice and crisp, and worth the extra calories. The Caesar salad is very good, coming with plenty of olives, tomatoes, cheese, peppers, it is not just a plate of lettuce. The chicken wing orders are very good with Sunday having a 75 cent / wing special. There are twenty different sauces to choose from, so it would be very difficult not to find a sauce to your liking. There is no bad seating, with televisions and sports on in virtually every direction. I have previously had the beef hamburgers and the two types of chicken burgers. All are very good and well prepared. Just pick whatever appeals to you, and you will not be disappointed. A burger and beer special is available during the day, 11AM to 5PM, on Monday through Saturday. The selection of beers, including a rotating selection of craft beers from a variety of New York State and some out of state breweries as well as local breweries makes good reason for returning. Just ask to see the beer menu. Service is best at the bar with the bartender often also tending to the tables. Any delays that may cause is simply alleviated by planning ahead and ordering ahead or everything at once to avoid delays. Enjoy an afternoon or night out.

If I wanted parmesan, I would've asked for parmesan! My husband and I were looking forward to eating out at another restaurant until it closed due to the snowstorm, so we figured we'd find a restaurant that's open and eat there. Rudi's it is! Unfortunately, it was way to crowded for our liking, so we opted for take out. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer. WHY, JUST WHY, did they throw Parmesan on it?!?! I am a picky eater to begin with. At least ask if that's what we wanted so I could've said no?? Also, the squid felt like straw. It was beyond weird and not good. My husband enjoyed his burger but once again, parmesan on my fries when I ordered chicken fingers and fries. Not sure why this has happened as I've ate here in the past and never had this issue. I just hate when extra things are added in. I'm a plain kinda gal. Guess they had extra parmesan they were looking to get rid of?

You don't need to worry about bringing your own clubs as they do have rentals, but you can bring your own too. We did a two hour rental in the afternoon and only booked the day before with no issues. The staff were some of the nicest and most helpful guys I've had the pleasure of doing business with, they even gave us some extra time since we showed up a little late and there weren't any other rentals after us. Good selection of drinks and if you're hungry, they don't have their own kitchen but they have a deal with Rhum next door to order food, which is some good tasty bar food. I love the sort of mid century modern style they have going on, it fits the golf atmosphere, but none of the snobiness that it usually brings with the sport. Parking can be a little tricky, but there are a bunch of lots around (some paid, some not) which are likely your best bet, even if that means you'll have a short walk. Might just be my favorite bar in patchogue, golf or otherwise, and will gladly comeback here any time.

I had to go to the UPS store (avoided rude unpleasant character in Shirley), and saw Howard's Cafe. Looked it up here, seemed great. Went in, and greeted by really NICE people! And they have GLUTEN-FREE rolls! Caryn came to seat me and take my order. She was the BEST! She didn't know if the turkey burgers had breadcrumbs, so I went with the grilled chicken. I also decided that I deserved bacon, so got the Mary, Mary topping--bacon, mushrooms, and sautéed onions. Entrees come with a salad, which arrived in a bowl topped by another bowl, with two things of dressing and croutons on the side. Caryn didn't think that I could have the croutons, and she was right. The salad was iceberg lettuce, which I hadn't had in YEARS, lol, with tomato and red onion. And a shaker of BAC-O's!! Oh my. Hadn't had those in 30 years. Very salty, which explains why. There was a choice of skinny fries (boo), steak fries, or sweet potato fries. I got the steak fries, which were wedges. Yum! The grilled chicken was yummy and generous, the bun was TOASTED (yay), and the toppings piled high. So good! A tad dry, but Caryn brought me some mayo. I forgot to order cheese. Ack. This is a nice place, with a bar filled with convivial locals, a cheerful bartender, and the marvelous Caryn. There are booths and tables. The iced tea came with two slices of lemon! I was SHOCKED when I got the bill. SHOCKED. It was $20.06 for a LOT of food and an iced tea! I took half the sandwich home because I couldn't finish it. I did finish all the salad--and Caryn asked if I would like more (declined)--and all the fries. Astonishing. What a great value!! That seems so rare these days. I had looked at the menus of a couple of other nearby places. Very glad that I chose this one. Sad that it's not near me, but I'll be back.

On top of that, my damn car decided to up and die, so I've been bleeding money on Ubers just to get to and from work. I even had to go into work on my day off just to sit around waiting for the tow truck so they could junk it. Love that for me. After I handled business with the junkers, I said eff it and headed to Whiskey Neat. I was starving--no breakfast, running on fumes--and since my job's in Patchogue, I figured I'd finally try them for lunch. First of all... happy hour on a Saturday from 12-6?! Uhhh hello?? In my Angelina from Jersey Shore voice. And if you pay cash, you get the discount. Say less. They've got a fabulous small plates menu. I started with the French onion soup--ooey gooey mozzarella, cheese pull was undefeated. Soup was delicious too. I haven't had French onion in ages and it really hit. Then I had the pulled pork slider, which was really good, but BABY... those short rib croquettes? To. Die. For. I also had to get my classic deviled eggs. A little heavy-handed on the paprika, but still solid. Drinks were half off, so of course I indulged. Started with an espresso martini because I needed something to jumpstart my day. Then I had a French martini because duh--I'm a French girl ‍. That one was good. Finished with my classic cosmo. Not gonna lie, I've had better, but it did what it needed to do and helped me forget my troubles for a couple hours. Also great playlist of music. I got there and they were playing Ska. I've been to Main Street Patchogue a few times before and I'm always amazed at how it's now like Huntington, with tons of eateries, bars and places to hear live music. It was a busy late Spring Friday night and my cousin told me if we were there just two weeks later (ie, post Memorial Day), there would have been lines to get in anywhere. So make resos! I made one easily earlier that day and when we arrived around 7:30, it was not packed, but it is pretty loud in there even half full. Our waiter, Jonathan, expertly took such great care of us from start to finish, even taking my father's dad jokes in stride. There's a solid cocktail menu, but I had a couple glasses of a better-than-decent prosecco. My cousin loved his espresso martini. For food, count on a couple respectable vegan entrees and I went with the Japanese eggplant with cashew ricotta. The eggplant is delicious, slightly sweet with a creamy rather than chewy (thank god) texture. The cashew ricotta is also tasty, but I do think it needed to be blended a bit more to remove the slightly grainy texture (the cashews might have needed more soaking). My father loved his French onion soup and pastrami sandwich. Separate paragraph for the fries. They deserve it. I'm glad we ordered these to share- it's an enormous platter of them. I appreciated that they were salted perfectly. I appreciate restaurants that can make satisfy a variety of preferences and dietary restrictions. The vibe here is festive and vibrant and a great choice for groups and families.
