Subject: Customer Driven Away by Unhinged and Aggressive Management I never thought I'd write this about one of my favorite chicken spots, but after tonight, I will never return. What began as poor service has escalated into a serious safety concern due to a specific female manager's extreme unprofessionalism. For two Fridays in a row, I've dealt with her blatant disrespect and bad attitude. Tonight, after she caught yet another attitude during my phone order she also cut me off and slammed the phone down before i finished talking, I attempted to address the issue in person. Instead of a professional apology, I was met with verbal abuse. She didn't just provide bad service--she became unhinged. She told me i should know how to order food... she cursed at me, multiple times and told me my "life is miserable," and physically chased me to the door while screaming at me. I was already at my car door and she was still screaming at me. As a frequent customer, I have never felt so disrespected or unsafe. No one should be subjected to this level of aggression getting take-out. This individual is a massive liability to the business and has no place in a management role. I was excited to see a pudgies, a place I have t bene to since I was a kid. So me and my wife stopped in and We ordered food there. Besides not having several menu items and being told we'd have to call a day early the food we DID receive was bland and overcooked. But all of that would have been fine, I mean it is just a small fast food style chicken place, if not for what happened next. They have several items and things on the menu which are pretty straightforward named "Mac and cheese bites", ect. So she ordered the "cheddar and broccoli" bites. Something one would assume, like everything else listed, it's name implies what it is. Unfortunately when my vegetarian wife bit in she was upset to find bacon. It was disappointing but not the end of the world of not a little frustrating that they didn't list it. So we called back to request a refund or some kind of remedy as this is the kind of mess up that can REALLY get someone sick or hurt someone. But instead of apologies and remedies? She was told "we don't do refunds... You should have told us beforehand that you can't eat bacon"... On an item that shouldn't have bacon if not listed?!? So after she refused to give any refunds or do anything she also refused to give us any numbers or speak to a manager or anything. So I conclusion the food is horrible, the place is dirty, the employees are sitting around on their phones and then the attitude and lack of ANY attempt at customer service is beyond unacceptable. As someone who's been in the culinary industry for over 20 years this is unacceptable food, practices and service... To say I won't be coming back after my overwhelming excitement I had BEFORE walking in would be a gross understatement.... read more

Absolutely horrible and inedible food experience! The hot dogs were undercooked, lacking any snap, and were cold to the touch when bitten into. It was quite unappetizing! As for the chicken, it was a shockingly 90% batter. While I actually enjoy their batter dipped, crispy batter, it's pointless when the chicken is dried out and resembles shoe leather! I've ordered from this location before and have experienced at least one if not more unpalatable items each time, so it's clear that something is seriously wrong here at this location! I assume the owner or manager will somehow twist this to make it my fault for giving them another chance, just as they have several times before if you go back and look at other customers' reviews and I am fine with that! I totally understand that we can all have an off day, but after this last experience, I've officially lost all hope. I really wanted this neighborhood spot to have gotten its act together and serve at least decent/edible food, but it's painfully obvious they either don't care or choose to respond to negative reviews with obnoxious and condescending remarks, as they have in the past. If the original owners of Nathan's knew about the quality and integrity being served at this location, they would be turning over in their graves! I had been searching for a Nathan's hot dog vendor in Suffolk. By accident, I happened upon Pudgie's in Selden.It was nearly noon & I was hungry. Sceptically i looked around after entering. Nothing seemed ready. i ordered two plain dogs, a small fries & an orange soda. 5-6 minutes the counter girl said..$9.75. What? So cheap??. There was a tip jar on the counter. It had been primed with two bucks. A sign on the wall discouraged eating in the shop. 6 minutes later a bell dinged. She brought my bag of food. I paid. I threw three bucks in the tip jar. I went to my car. I had 15 minutes to dine. I opened the bag in my 350z. French fries were on top & the looked like genuine Nathan's fries. I took one out & crammed it into my mouth...it was the best Nathan's French Fry I'd ever had! hot, crispy, not greasy.. I devoured them, but there were more, many more... but where are the hot dogs? i checked my receipt.. two orders of Nathan's Fries& an orange soda. No wonder it was so cheap. What to do? I ordered 3 months ago & blamed the food being so greasy cause I had a 15 min ride home. I tried again today. The chicken, fries, hush puppies were so oil laden I couldn't even touch the food. Oil dripping on my fingers .They managed to overcook everything and the chicken was so dry, couldnt even taste the potatoes and hush puppies were 2 little balls of grease. I asked the chef to please remake the 2 hush puppies was told I'd be charged. I got 3 piece chicken, chips. Was charged for cocktail sauce, tarter sauce, KETCHUP! $15.00 later I threw everything out. Nathan's in Selden is the most horrible restaurant you can find. After waiting almost an hour and a half Our order came missing my mothers meal. When she called them The "manager" Kevin stated "oh we're really busy" then when my mother said what about her food he had a horrible attitude in which case I got on the phone. He was a nightmare !!! And told my mom to come in and get it her self. He told me he was doing us a favor by offering us our money back and that if he wants he can "refuse us our money back and not give us anything". I have been ordering Pudgies for years and it is the only chicken I will eat. Well not anymore. The chicken was unbelievable greasy!!! Never have I ever had greasy chicken at Pudgies. It was always nice and crispy and dry. This was horrible. I called and asked to speak to the manager and she told me that it could be two things. She didn't pack it right away or the fact that they change the oil every other week and they did it LAST week! So what am I suppose to call and ask if this is the oil changing day in order to get good chicken again? So very disappointed I will see about contacting the main headquarters. I got this delivered once and it was truly awful. The chicken barely had any skin on it, the fried zucchini we ordered was actually fried pickles, the buns that they gave us with our food were actually just bought from the store, and they were extremely damp, and not in a good way. This place rocks with total hands on management. You always see the owners in the store. It's a 3 in 1 concept. Pudgies, Arthur Treachers fish and chips, and Nathan's. You could not tell the difference between this place and if you were at Nathan's in Coney Island. The hot dogs are cased which if you don't know is the only authentic way to prepare a hot dog. When you bit down on one you get an exquisite explosion of flavor. There is a Nathan's in Smithtown that doesn't case their hot dogs and it's a real letdown. This place however also has great Nathan's French fries. Perfect and unique wide fries. Just remember to ask for ketchup. It's take out only. read more

I'd like to thank and compliment the kids working at Pudgie's/Arthur Treachers/Nathan's at the Royal Plaza shopping center in Selden N.Y. I Walked in Monday evening Dec. 16 2019, was greeted promptly and courteously by a lovely girl who patiently waited on me as I asked numerous questions about the menu. A young guy cooking happily answered my questions about choices of fried seafoods. The place doesn't look like much from outside, but it's very clean, the food is made while you wait so it's fresh, hot and delicious... not at all greasy. The fried shrimp, clams, and chips as well as a side of Nathan's fries I ordered were absolutely delicious. I live about 30-40 minutes away, but I would gladly travel the distance for the crispy delicious fish fry, burgers, and other takeout items. Honestly, the kids running this location are real gems, and I'd like corporate to know just how wonderful I was treated as well as how good the food was... I don't believe I've ever given fast food a rave review before, and I completely believe it's because these kids are doing such a really fine job here. Anyway, just want to sincerely thank these kids for making myself and my husband a delicious hot meal, and to let them know what a fine job they're doing! My husband and I love this place. He's a huge fan of the fish and chips and the corn nuggets. I am a fan of the breaded shrimp those lovely corn nuggets and of course hush puppies! We were just here last week and I'm back again tonight. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Donna has this place running like a well oiled machine. Wow! A year ago i gave awesome reviews and here we are a year later and no go. So, i needed to order 2 separate orders. The first order was about $20 and the second was $6. They were both for delivery. SAME ADDRESS but because the second order was under $10 i was first to,d i couldn't have it. This was the most disgusting chicken I've had in my life. The texture was awful and it smelled like dog. The macaroni and cheese tasted microwaved and we could hear them using the microwave. I used to kind of like this place - service is fast & they never leave anything out of your order. But the other day I was in there paid by credit card - the cashier held the receipt while I signed it so I didn't see it had the optional tip line like (they do for sit down restaurants) until he was putting my signed receipt in the register so it was left blank. Well I went to use that same card today and after it being rejected twice, called the bank and found out my $53 bill at this particular Pudgies/Nathan's Famous magically became $153. Apparently one of the cashiers who all had access to that register wrote themselves a $100 tip. I will NEVER patronize this place again. read more

Awful experience.. We ordered the 16pc chicken and couldnt wait to get home and dive in. The cashier gave me a plastic baggy with 3 tiny containers of hot sauce. Taken back a little bit, I asked for more considering we had 16 pieces of chicken, but was told it would be an extra $2.50. It was ironic because they had a paper sign taped on the counter reading "Unlike other restaurants pudgies includes sauces in their pricing." The chicken was soggy and bland. Pudgies is supposed to be all about their skinless chicken, yet this chicken had plenty of skin to be found. The sides were even worse. The "mashed potatoes" seemed worse than the boxed variety and was inedible. The "gravy" reminded me more of kitchen grease. The coleslaw was decent but nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese reminded me of a watered down version of Kraft. Sadly the best part of the meal were the dinner rolls, which tasted like wonder buns. Completely rude and unprofessional owner! I walked in and he was standing within 5 feet of me but didn't acknowledge me until I was standing there for about 2 minutes. I was picking up an order for someone else and was given an attitude by the owner. It was completely uncalled for and unnecessary. He started arguing with me over something that had nothing to do with me since I was just going in to pick up an order for someone else. I haven't had Pudgie's in a good many years, and after today's visit, I can say without question, I won't be returning. $30 worth of food, tossed into a picnic area garbage. How hard is it to add to 10 Mac and cheese bites and put them in a tray? They answered that for me. (5 is the total before a headache sets in). My daughter, who I get to see 2 days every other week, got the salad and the Romaine was cut into 10"x10" squares, plus the chicken was stale. All the chicken was stale. My chicken sandwich was also not cooked fresh. Why?? How hard is it to make fresh chicken?? Considering I worked there for college money and did every job on the store, I can tell you that the cooking was timed to perfection. In its heyday, Pudgie's was just a chicken place. A "better than KFC" chicken place, using the best ingredients and fat free oil, changed more often than not. Now, it's a Pudgie's, and Arthur Treacher's and a Nathan's. Did they just take the lowest common cooking technique of the 3 and apply it to everything?? Seems so. Never again. Now I see why most of the stores went out of business. read more

Service is decently fast considering staff made orders on the spot, but that meant that the chicken and chips were fresh and delicious. It's just a small takeout place with no sit-in dining, but the menu is pretty good. Would definitely go back again for delicious fried chicken.
