Always on the search for a rarified gourmet burget, but sometimes the…read moreclassic flat top diner style just slaps! We lucked out and grabbed 6 of 10 counter stools. Lots of folks grabbing takeout at the window or delivered to the car. My burger on a griddled bun, juicy with everything ( pickle relish, sliced pickles, ketchup, raw onion, lettuce, tomato and white american) hit the spot.

For the record: under the ADA (and Massachusetts law, which follows it), a business can ask exactly two questions -- is this a service animal required due to a disability, and what task is it trained to perform. That's it. No vest, no ID card, no paperwork required, full stop. I said as much, was met with attitude, stepped out to keep the peace, came back in with documentation anyway (which I didn't legally owe him), and got a passive-aggressive "well you could've shown me that at the beginning" -- followed by a genuinely bizarre stare-down over the counter. Charming. Then, while waiting on my order, I made the mistake of taking a video of the (admittedly cute) interior -- 100-year-old diner car, hard not to want a keepsake -- and got yelled at for filming, with a pointed accusation that my brother outside was "also filming," said like it was a crime. Meanwhile this place has an active social media presence built on customers doing exactly that. You can't crowdsource your Instagram content and then treat a phone camera like a weapon. Oh, and the hot dog itself: $5 for a boiled dog on white bread, no toasting, no char, nothing. A sad little snack to cap off a genuinely unpleasant interaction. The building has real history. The guy behind the counter does not deserve it.

Server was nice but you could tell they were understaffed that night and sat too many tables at once. Once we sat done down and given water it took a while before our server appeared. The pacing was off and there were long periods between our order and apps, entree, and dessert. - bread service: kind of expensive ($13) for 5 pieces of bread and a dollop of each dipping sauce. Try just bread and butter for $6 - cornbread: delicious but small portion for $14. Also not a fan of the cutting board presentation - kids Mac and cheese: very cheesy ($12) - tiger shrimp risotto: ($34) good flavor but risotto was underdone - fried chicken: ($30) so crispy and cooked perfectly but had an odd spice in there like cinnamon? The star was the fried green tomatoes and the buttermilk ranch! Perfectly fried and crunchy while the tomatoes stayed firm and a very tasty ranch dressing! - dessert: warm cow sugar cookies were nice and warm sitting in butterscotch pudding, very cute! - the toffee in the butterscotch pudding ($11) was super crunchy, wish there were more cubes mixed in - warm chocolate brownie ($15) was missing the creme anglaise? Or the splatter of it was very small? I liked the open kitchen, high ceilings and farm2table concept but be prepared to spend $$$. Some street parking available and metered lot across the street.

The food was excellent - salmon, steak, salad - etc. Salmon arrived the way my friends asked for it as did the steak. Our waitress, Kendra, was top notch. This was our first time going since it had opened as the Fireside Tavern. It is fair to say we were underwhelmed. My wife ordered a Dirty Martini and it had a lot of vermouth in it which is not the correct way to prepare it. For an appetizer we got the Calamari which was very good. Crispy and tender with delicious hot peppers added in as well. For the main courses we got the Chicken Piccata severed over Gnocchi which was good but nothing special. Gnocchi were a bit denser than we like. Our other main was the Seafood Paella. On the plus side it had a lot of seafood in it, mussels, Shrimp, Scallops and a white fish. All of the sish was cooked well and was tender and juicy. However it did not appear to be cooked in a Paella pan so you didn't get some of those bites of crispy rice and the seasoning was off it had no saffron or tomatoes like I am used to. It was more like a plain rice that they added peas, carrots, and red pepper. Just didn't taste like any form of the paella that I have eaten previously. Jenna our server was awesome and attentive but not overbearing. She was fantastic and made for an enjoyable evening.

All the patrons in the place were happy and the crew was meeting customers with smiles and efficiency. As I waited in line I could see that a young teen in front of me who was ordering his lunch was coming up a bit short with the money needed to pay for the food he planned to get. He had a ziplock full of change that he had brought to buy his lunch. Before I could step in to offer to cover the difference he needed the man up front who I assumed was the manager calmly and without pause or judgement said that it was ok and that he would take care of things for the boy and that things were all set. The young woman at the register also was helpful and kind to the teen. I thought their demeanor and kindness was great and it made my day. As I left I stopped to speak to him to praise them for being such good people and for the great customer service. I went to hand him a big tip for the two of them since I was so warmed by their humanity and helpfulness but I was met with a very humble no, no, no and I saw that he was very pleased though that I spoke up to give them praise. So off I went to eat my lunch the fries were...Great... the fish sandwich was ... Great.. I'll be back there to have more meals in the future, burgers etc and will bring the wife and kids- Thanks team for brightening my day.

My husband spent a dollar more and got the brunch burger which I sampled and it was head and shoulders above this sad little chicken sandwich that had very little flavor and should be taken off the menu IMO. It looks like a sandwich you would get from Panera, not a place like this. I want to give our bartender credit for the hard work she was doing attending to surrounding tables and bar patrons by herself. I also will give credit to the restaurant for the amazing truffle Parmesan fries and my yummy decaf espresso martini. But for the love of Pete -- stay away from this pathetic, tasteless and overpriced grilled chix sandwich that sounded great on the menu but failed miserably IRL. They can and should do better.

That killed it for me to buy more than one. After checking out Yelp photos and the online menu first upon arrival, I settled on the "New York Style" hot dog with small fry (3.50) and no drink. It came out to $15. It took a little while to get my order. I was there ordering with the cashier before some guy came after to order by kiosk which got his order first. My hotdog was loaded and tasted amazing. After finishing, I wish I had another because I wasn't full even after the fries. But I could never pay $20 for 2 hotdogs. Shop was clean and cute inside. Cashier was nice. A fairly new resident recommended the chicken bowl next time. The only other location is on the Natick Mall. They would be more busy if they come down $3-$4. Hope they aren't wasting their toppings with these prices.
