This is the exactly the kind of place you want in New England. The Fireside Tavern Sherborn balances the historic with the modern. The sizeable interior includes more than one dining room and an entirely separate bar area. There is also outdoor tent seating, which may only be in the warm weather. You might remember this location as the old Sherborn Inn (a long time ago), but it's been reborn. Forget everything you knew about the past establishment, this place has a new life. The staff is awesome. They are attentive and well trained. The kitchen staff is knocking out a lot of great comfort food. Steaks, fish and chips, and a variety of handheld sandwiches. Most of the seafood seems to be locally sourced form Captain Marden's in Wellesley. The food is delicious and well prepared. I highly recommend the chicken sandwich with caramelized onions and Vermont cheddar on foccacia bread. I made it disappear very quickly. So good! Tuna tartare app was divine. Maybe not a traditional comfort food for New England, but I'm not complaining. It's nice to have variety. The chef delivered a dish I would come back for again and again. There's so much to try. I regret not getting the fish and chips, after later seeing pictures. The Ribeye was awesome though, cooked to perfection with mashed and asparagus. Don't forget dessert as well! Every little detail here is accounted for. You can tell the owner and staff are breathing new life into this location and it shows. With a full bar and variety of wines and mocktails, you will find something you love. Overall: You MUST visit this place for your comfort food fix!

I absolutely love fireside!! They have a great menu, super fresh ingredients, homemade sauces, and great cocktails! The service is great - the staff are some of the nicest people around! It's such a cute spot - with a more laid back pub side and a more formal dining room on another side. It's such a great addition to the area!

The food was fantastic! Service was very good. I chose the lounge because it was supposed to be quieter. It's really not. Very, very busy on a Saturday night. I love how cozy the rooms are. We had cocktails (French 75) a very nice French Chardonnay, swordfish and halibut. The food and drinks were excellent. Decent prices as well. Well worth it!

Last minute we decided to try the fireside tavern. It's exactly the kind of place you want to eat at in New England. Old and Very charming. We sat at the bar, bartender was very attentive. We had fried calamari for an app which was a large portion and perfectly done. Delicious! We split shepherds pie and salad. Excellent. Atmosphere and food were excellent. Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely brunch at Fireside Tavern, just a little over 30 minutes from Worcester. I enjoyed the Taverm Bloody Mary with all of the fixings. I had the mushroom omlette adding chorizo sausage, and he had the brunch burger. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the service was great. I also loved the bathroom cat decor. All and all absolutely worth the ride, we'll be back again!

Coming from a big city like Las Vegas, this little wine store is what you hope to find when you come to New England. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of flashy stores and wine bars with enomatic wine systems and tasting credit cards, but it's nice to walk into a shop that looks like someone's HOUSE from the outside. Space is a little cramped but the shelves are filled with gems priced under $20. Yes, there's certainly pricier bottles but I wasn't in the market for that this day. The interior is invitingly merchandised and you'll find a fair selection of cheeses for a small place like this. Instead of the expected one bottle I walked in to purchase, I bought four. I had a chance to meet the proprietors and they were gracious and helpful and so was their staff. They have wine tasting classes and free wine tastings on Fridays from 5:30 to 7:30. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to my previous experiences. It was an extremely hot evening, with temperatures in the upper 80s, and sadly the restaurant wasn't much cooler inside. We were a party of six and spent most of dinner fanning ourselves with dessert menus. We even asked for cups of ice and were literally holding them against ourselves to cool down! It became almost comical, but no one wants to spend dinner sweating. One bright spot was our server, who was warm, attentive, and very professional. The cocktail list was fairly limited, but the Passion cocktail was delicious--and thankfully served ice cold. As for the food, the cornbread was outstanding, and the tuna tartare was easily the star of the meal. The other women in our group enjoyed their entrees, but mine was a major disappointment. I ordered the fish tacos based on our server's recommendation. The portion was enormous--three tacos, each packed with fish--but the fish itself was incredibly dry and lacked flavor. I even asked for extra aioli, hoping it would help, but the tacos were still nearly inedible. I ate less than half of one taco. What was most disappointing was that no one acknowledged it. When my plate was cleared with almost the entire meal untouched, no one asked if anything was wrong. I didn't want to make a scene during a birthday dinner with friends, but I also don't think I should have had to pay for a meal that was barely edible. Dessert sounded much more exciting than it actually was. The chocolate brownie was dry, the "Cows in Quicksand" dessert looked unappetizing, the cookies were hard, and the champagne mangoes were underripe. We still had a fabulous evening celebrating with friends, but the dining experience itself fell well short of expectations. Between the uncomfortable heat and the disappointing food, this wasn't the memorable return visit I'd been looking forward to. Dining in a sauna simply isn't on most people's list of enjoyable dinner experiences.

The shopping center itself was nice and felt modern and clean. The parking lot had sufficient parking availability on a Tuesday night. I hadn't made reservations in advance but despite it being pretty busy, they were able to get us a table for 2 inside (there is some outdoor patio seating available). The service was friendly and helpful though not very proactive (but it was busy so understandable). The one major turnoff was the staff aggressively spraying cleaning solution onto nearby tables. That stuff can waft over to someone and set off an allergic reaction, it can get into food/drinks, and the chemical smell that lingered was not great for a higher-end restaurant. On the other hand, it was a clean restaurant! We got shrimp cocktail (they charge by the piece). It didn't come with the standard cocktail sauce - not sure what it was - maybe vinegar-based(?), but it was just OK - my friend didn't like the sauce at all but we thought the shrimp was good. We each ordered haddock with green beans and mashed potatoes. The haddock was nicely prepared with breadcrumbs on top and cooked such that it was still flaky, moist, and had a nice light flavor. Mashed potatoes were good (as other reviewers have noted), and the green beans were ok - maybe a bit undercooked. The team accommodated my friend's nut allergy by leaving off the almonds, which we appreciate! I didn't love the tomato confit but it wasn't bad. I'm glad that I could visit this beautiful restaurant! I hope that they can find a better way to keep the tables clean.

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

These were the best dinners of the year for us. The blending of flavors were fantastic and it was augmented by the owner coming over and talking to us about how the food was prepared. I won't bore you with all the details but the octopus is slow boiled for 5 hours.. complete with wine. Corks it was tender and delicious with the Mediterranean flair. We go out to eat our fair share from high end to diners anywhere. The food is well prepared and delicious... This was the top for the year! I can browse a liquor store & pick out a bottle that exactly fits my preferences, my mood, & my budget. I can bring it home & uncork the wine, checking the cork for freshness. I can pull out my special glassware & pour myself a glass of wine & enjoy it on my own couch. So why go out to a wine bar, if not for the wine? For me, it's for the ambience & the experience. Both of those things at Providence Wine Bar were lacking. The lights were too bright (overhead & fluorescent) & the music was too loud (& just bad). The employees seemed both bored & nervous, with not much to do to occupy themselves. I was one of the only people in the bar, so I felt like I was under scrutiny - I'm certain this wasn't intentional but it was unfortunately how it came across. I brought a book but couldn't focus because of the lights & the music. I even caught myself with my fingers in my ears, trying to muffle the sounds of 2010s hyper pop. I have nothing against 2010s hyperpop, it's just that there's a time & place for everything, & maybe that isn't at a wine bar at 8 PM on a Wednesday. I just wanted to be done with my glass of wine so that I could leave. All of that being said, I wish them the best. It seems like they need a good manager's touch.
