Came into Hot Nails with no appointments and was quickly greeted by the lovely staff there. I knew I didn't want acrylic so I asked if they could do hard gel. Seems like they do not do that but they did powder gel or the new dip nails. Ended up telling them to do powder gel with form for my nails with pink and silver no chip on top. The guy who did my nails was Lee. He did an amazing job. He made sure my nails were exactly how I wanted them to be. He kept asking me if the length was right and if the shape was okay. There's also a mini parking lot in front of the store so that is a plus. The only thing I want to comment on is the strong smell from all the chemicals when you first walk into the store. I felt suffocating at first, but then I got used to it. Other than that, this place was a hit and not a miss. I only had time for a mani but will try to get a pedi on my next visit. Hot nails has a shop in a tight strip mall located in a busy area of Touhy & Cicero avenues. Unfortunately for us that are motorists, it's a pain to get into the strip which acts as 'storefront' parking. There are also lots on opposite sides of the block. The team which run the shop are generally nice people and quite engaging. If you engage them into conversation, it will just flow. Quite friendly. So, for a time I used to take my folks there for a mani/pedi cleanup which would occur every few months. Management was informative with me. It became a thing. I would drop them off for services and then return after an hour, that's the estimated time they would allot to finish their services. That was until a problem occurred. For those that may be elderly and considering nail care, a bit of warning. If you are currently on meds that are "blood thinners" (anticoagulants) best to check with a doctor or your insurance company for nail care services. In some cases a doctor or your insurance carrier may send a nail care tech to you or suggest a shop known to them to specialize in medical nail treatment. Nail shops (in general) are not the best option unless they are rated for such. You could also stop taking blood thinners a day prior to your nail appointment. Because sometimes, injuries or bleeds can occur when they are working on your cuticles depending on which manner of care they offer. Whether they cut or push them back. Pushing back cuticles is the safest manner to stave off possible infections. Due to a poor incident of injury to my Ma I stopped taking them. No one in management nor the nail tech approached me to discuss what happened. They just swept the whole thing under the rug & charged me as normal and I tipped as usual, a little more given because they usually provide a polite service to my senior fam. Ma too didn't want to engage it with me in the moment, (later on) she told me the nail tech did what they could but what did they actually do? I paid for a mani and pedi for my folks plural. He was taken care of. With her, the new nail tech went to do something with a tool that subsequently stabbed her in the toe, granted by mistake. Ma was on blood thinners so it took a moment to stop the bleeding. Then, the tech made the same effing mistake again in another toe. WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K. Prior to taking her to the shop I'd just gotten her new mule shoes. Because the bleeding did not stop, the sole of the mule had blood in the grooves! I guess the tech was so unnerved she stopped the services but when I stopped in to pick them up, not one person had anything to say. My mother decided not to tell me about it until we got back to her home. That was to save them from me possibly exploding in the shop. So now I'm here to warn you guys if taking an elderly loved one. My only recourse since my monies are gone could be to report the incident which might push Lincolnwood's business department to ensure that their nail techs are all licensed and certified. (Recently the news reported of a similar incident happening to a woman in a different state. She thought nothing of it until she realized the site of the stab was not healing correctly. A visit to the doctor revealed infections due to improperly handled manicure tools. On the back of that knowledge I'm left feeling I should have her toes tested just to make sure.) Things happen but as a business, had their management talked to me about it in person I would not have felt needed to write this here for public notice. One last thing, I was charged for a full mani/ pedi for my mother though all her nails looked jacked up. Polish improperly applied and nails cut jagged. One would think a blind robot did the work. read more

Omgosh this place needs some serious ventilation!! I cannot believe the customers here stayed considering how bad the no chip smelled. It was a Saturday evening, around 7 pm and my preggo self really needed a pedicure and foot massage. I searched yelp to see which salons are open until 8 pm and this place came up. I called just to double check if they were opened and allowing walk-ins. They said yes, come through. The location is easy to find since it's on a main Street (Touhy- close to Cicero and Touhy). There was plenty of parking in their little plaza. I didn't like that there was no fresh air coming into the salon or that there were no ventilation. The people working there had masks but I didn't and I felt like I couldn't breathe. It was horrible. I was literally two seconds away from just walking out because the smell of no chip just consumed the air. The only reason I didn't is because my mom was with me and she had already started her treatment and I was her ride home. When you go to a pedicure, you went to relax but I was just practicing my breathing because I couldn't handle the smell of the air. I don't know how the other people in the salon weren't phased by it or that they didn't seem too terribly concerned. The lady who worked on my pedicure was nice but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon just because I didn't feel like it was a 5 star pedicure. When you're almost 8 months pregnant, you can't reach your feet. You're lucky if you can see your feet, nevertheless touch them. I needed a pedicure because the heel of my foot needed some scrapping and some tender love and care. Homegirl definitely did not scrape all the dead skin off. She did cut and file my nails but she didn't put top coat on my nails so it doesn't have the shine of a fresh pedicure. They charge $22 for the manicure- not crazy expensive but I didn't think I got a good pedicure for the price. I always say, check a business out for yourselves because everyone's experience is different. I personally don't intend on going anytime soon but I highly recommend you see if it works for you! read more

Decided to try this spot out because I desperately needed my previous no chip removed and it's near my office in Skokie (I usually go to one particular place in the city and didn't want to drive that far). I came in at around 6pm and they were able able to get me in right away. The person doing my nails didn't speak a whole lot of English but that doesn't bother me at all. A woman did the no chip removal and a man did my new no chip. Very happy with the outcome - the shape was a little more square than I usually get (pointier corners) but that's on me for not saying anything. Application was good, although there are a few spots that I can see the brush strokes which isn't usually the case. Provided that this mani lasts as long as those at my normal place, this may end up being my mani place of choice for after work! read more

OBESSESED I am absolutely obsessed with how my nails came out!! I got a full set acrylics after hearing great things about Hot Nails. I switched to check out Hot Nails because my previous nail salon was no longer satisfactory simply due to a mix of the service was rushed and done poorly and I felt judged by the technicians..My experience today with Hot Nails was a complete 180 difference and I feel great! My technician took his time and always made sure everything was to my liking and the entire environment was really respectful and nice. My only downside is that it is extremely difficult to take out my contact lenses but that is just something that I need to learn and totally not on the salon. I will definitely be back! read more

My daughter told me about this salon and I tried it... I now go there exclusively... they do a good job with my acrylics and are friendly.

Every time I go here they treat me like it's a problem to do my nails. I have long natural nails, I get dip. I've been here 2x the first tome my nails lasted, second time they did not. No one at this salon listens to the client, they send you around between nail techs and they just suck lol. Every time I'm here they try and cut off my natural nails always ignoring me after informing they are natural ... they only grind off the dip powder and if you ask to soak it off they will say oh it's too strong it won't come off... most places soak it off AND grind it off. To make matters worse they made so many nicks and stuff in my natural nails they were no longer beautiful, they looked butchered. They don't take care of the natural nail. So now. I'm at this point where my nails have broken in ways never before !! I have 3 broken nails. read more

My nails had to be redone after the botched job I got here. I got acrylics.. they were filed uneven, crooked, and even had bumps in them where the acrylic hadn't been filed down all the way. On top of that the lady, rushed through the painting of them and left color all over my cuticles. It costed me 60$ to get them removed and redone. Don't waste ur time going here.. read more

I used to love this place and I always request one person but this places customer service quality has depleted. It really seems as though they only value new customers. If you don't care about customer service this is a great place to go, they do excellent work but take your money else where if you want someone who respects your time. I've had more than a few instances where I would call to make an appointment with my preferred nail tech and when I got there they made me wait upwards of 30 mins for MY appointment. Also when the nail tech burns you or hurts you he does not apologize. All he says is "hot nails". Which I think is extremely rude and insensitive. Just recently I called and requested my usual nail tech and the man that I spoke to on the phone said that he would be there in 10 mins. So I asked if he was available. And he went to go check and when he came back he said he's open. So I booked that spot and hopped in my car and made my way over. I was on the highway when I got a call from them saying my tech is not even in today and why did I book an appointment. I told them that my nail had broken and I needed a new set. She asked me to come in tomorrow with him. I told her if anyone else can do it for me and she said no. What is so hard about fixing a nail and doing a new set ??? And it really made me mad that they never value your time. I understand that maybe that man I spoke genuinely did not know my nail tech was not in. But if you're going to answer phones and book people please train your staff to at least know what days off people have. It's also upsetting because this is not the first time they've wasted my time. But, when I need a little me-time or some girl-time, this place cannot be beat for a speedy, impressive and cheap (relatively speaking) manicure and pedicure. For $30. Every day. No joke. I hit this place up on my lunch hour because it is relatively close to my place of employment, and they rarely disappoint (in under an hour, no less). I have been here several times before and had a great experience however today when I went in to get a no chip pedicure and also a fill with no chip polish for my nails I was completely surprised when the owner told me that the pedicure I got was 20$ and that they would charge an additional 20$ for the no chip on top on that they charged 30$ for my nails fill and no chip. I had been in on the 13th of June with my daughters they got a no chip manicure and regular polish pedicure I was charged 25$ per child and I did my nails fill and no chip and was charged 20$ that was 70$ I tipped the guy who did my daughters nails 10$ and the one who did mine 20$ my total was 100$ and I was happy with that So you can imagine my surprise that they were trying to charge me and my sister in law 70$ each we reportedly told them that last time we were charged 20$ for our nails and they kept saying "no that's wrong" we went back and forth with the conversation and of course we paid because would never do it any other way I told her I had my statement and I could show her the charge that was made on that day and the owner as I walked out called us crazy if you like to be disrespected then be my guest they will lure you in with low prices then you'll be shocked after a few times they will say it was always the price as if you would forget! terribly rude people I'd rather spend my 70$ or 100$ or ever a 1000$ I don't care about the money really but I'd go somewhere where the owner(or owners wife) doesn't call the customers crazy after taking there money. read more

I came here yesterday with my mom and my 4 year old. The staff was very courteous and did an amazing job. They tolerated my daughter very well too (who was jumping around touching everything!). Mani Pedi's are pretty low cost here when compared to other places. The salon itself needs a good remodeling job (will feel more inviting) and maybe relocating will get them more business.
