First I want to say that we were hesitant to visit since we lost our beloved Annie's family, which was always a hometown, go-to place for my whole family. We decided to give it a whirl since it's so close to home. When we entered, we were warmly greeted and sat immediately. They remodeled the place and went with an open concept which really makes it feel open and airy. The service is top notch, very personable and offered info and suggestions on the menu. We were excited to learn that they are waiting on their liquor license and we will be able to enjoy some mimosas with breakfast soon! Thank you to the blonde waitress that helped us, she really made us feel like family- which is important since we miss that with Annie's. The food was impressive. Stopped in here this morning as I was taking my daughter and her friend to the airport .. Menu is simple which honestly was perfect , and they do serve breakfast and lunch at all times Food was awesome! The ONION RINGS were the best we've ever had , no, seriously, the best ... portions were HUGE! You could split if you wanted Large variety of mimosas ! And they are generous pours .. There was 3 adults and one child , 2 mimosas .. patty melt , club sandwich , chicken sandwich , 2 side salads and a kids cheeseburger ..I wasn't expecting our bill to be $80 but that's ok , just noting it here if someone wants to know .. Really great food! The home potatoes with all the vegetables were very delicious and packed full of flavor. My boyfriend got the Joe's scramble it was very good. The flavors blend very well. With this came a side of a pancake which was also delicious. I got the classic chicken fried steak and eggs. At first I was hesitant due to the consistency of the gravy but it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The ambiance is good and comfortable, with two sides to the restaurant. The main side with more seating and the additional side with a smaller seating area. We sat on the additional side and it was perfect, not noisy at all. Our waitress, I forget her name unfortunately, was absolutely amazing! We never needed to ask for anything additional as she took care of everything ahead of time! Definitely recommend. read more

I had to drop stars for this place due to some unhygienic practices I witnessed. Wife and I went in on 4/16/2022. The food is still delicious and our server was great. What dropped my rating is when we saw the server with partially-dyed red hair drop everything off of a table she was moving to connect to other tables. She didn't bother to even act like she was going to wipe them off. They went straight from the floor to the table. Imagine someone walking through some dog shit and coming in here to eat; accidentally tracking some on the ground. Now the condiments you used were dropped on this minute bit of feces and you're using it on your food. The "5-second rule" shouldn't apply to restaurants. read more

Had brunch this morning. Service was solid. Our server was very friendly and polite. Kitchen time was decent for how busy it was. Small town breakfast stop with good service, but average food and big city prices. $20 omelettes is a bit much. I ordered the hot off the griddle omelette. Very dry and well done. Meat lacked flavor. Cheese was okay. Side of fruit wasnt fresh. Likely a day old. Only sauce option available was basic Tabasco, which isnt my favorite. There are other places in town at lower price points with considerably better food. This place came up on my search and decided to give a try. I walked in with my mom and my little puppy who is my service dog. The Indian lady at the cashier informed me that since the dog didn't have a vest we can only sit outside. She was nice though. I explained to her that service dogs don't have to have the vest rules have been changed and if she ants I can show her my papers. She didn't understand what I meant and pointing something on the wall like a policy or something. Anyways didn't say anything we went outdoor and ordered the breakfast. The waitress forgot to bring one of the order and when I told her she admitted that she forgot and anyways we were full already. She informed us that she is going for a break and her break reliever will continue serving us. The other lady more young American never came in to check on us. We waited and waited and I could see from the window that she acknowledged us but never came outdoor to check or bring the bill. Anyways I have to get my service dog walk inside and go to cashier to pay for the food. The food was okay nothing special. The service needs to be improved big time. Also just an advice for business owner.... Never ever direct the service dog owner to sit outside and not inside and ask for a service vest. Yummmmmm! Came for a late brunch an a Sunday got seated right away. Came with a friend and her baby the staff(and patrons) were so kind and attentive bringing snacks while we waited for our food to finish cooking. I definitely enjoyed eating here and the food was great! My tip for patrons is to know that after you ask for the check you're expected to get up and pay at the register. Tried this place for the first time. Seating and atmosphere was okay. I sat at the counter and the classic rock started up out of a crappy stereo and I had to change my seat so I could hear myself think. Ordered the biscuits & gravy. For me that is a good test of a breakfast joint. The eggs and potatoes were spot on. The biscuit and gravy was not. The gravy tasted like raw flour and the biscuit was doughy. Overpriced basic food I ordered the bacon breakfast ordered my potatoes extra crispy since they don't offer hashbrowns needed some texture the food came out quick it was tasteless no flavor no seasoning. Potatoes were soggy, ordered onion rings asked if they were beer battered or crispy waitress said crispy they were beer battered so disappointed again there. My mother got the tuna melt it had no flavor no mayonnaise mixed very dry. Service was good nice waitress nothing to complain of there. Only table seating is available here so not the most comfortable no booths or anything like that. The price that was paid for breakfast for what was gotten was atrocious. Went to breakfast one day with my dad and nephew. Nice little cafe, very family friendly. coffee was fresh. Dad said the potatoes were excellent, nephew had a pancake and I had eggs benedict. I got the veggie benny because i was abstaining from meat. Eye took the waitress's recommendation to add avocado & i wasn't disappointed. the hollandaise was good also. Oh and the Fruit! apparently they get locally sourced fruit and that day they had blood oranges that were deliciouso, i saved all the fruit and snacked on it a little later. The easter decor was cute. i took one star away because they took a while to get water, kinda left us hanging with my neph. since he's 6,He had accidentally put too much hot sauce and they weren't very urgent about getting him a water, which irritated me. Unfortunately, its very over priced(4 breakfasts with coffee and ice tea was over $100), potatoes are burnt, waitress never checks on you, and the hollandaise sauce and gravy has no flavor at all. And yelling goes on from the waitress in the dinning area to the cooks in the back talking and laughing about personal stuff while customers were trying to enjoy breakfast. BEWARE: Complete disregard for public safety. After years of being a loved part of Orangevale, Annies was forced to close its doors Partially due to Covid and complying with suggested safety guidelines. But the respected the community and its citizens safety. In comes HOTG to capitalize on the misfortune. Unfortunately, this business doesn't even compare to Annies food quality. More importantly, they don't seem to care much about the local about the local community, or its safety. I placed an order for pickup today and was disgusted to discover a sign on the window stating they're protesting by remaining open for dine-in during state Covid restrictions. In addition, they also aren't requiring all employees to wear masks. I picked up my order, the last one ever, and was further disappointed to discover the biscuits in my biscuits-and-gravy were stale and I didn't have enough gravy. Pretty much a miss on all levels. Finally got the chance to go with one of my girlfriends, loved it so much. I took my husband back three days later and then this weekend my husband and I took two more friends with us to experience it. Food was great. All three times, it's family owned! They offer mimosas with an abundance of flavors on two sides of a page for you to look at. They serve only breakfast and lunch, but they do it extremely well! Distance of our new home. Makes it worth the calories to walk there, eat and enjoy a big meal, and then walk it off on the way home! Great food, great staff, and they have amazing coffee that is so smooth and yummy. The place was nicely decorated for Halloween without being overkill, and looked like a good spot to eat in when Covid-19 is done.
