I really wanted to like this place. It's always so packed with customers, I had high hopes. First thing I wasn't thrilled about was the price. For a breakfast place, it's really expensive! But with it always being so packed, I figured they must have a good thing going on, so I checked it out. I ordered their HOTG Scramble (which is essentially biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage patties). I pretty much judge all breakfast places by their biscuits and gravy. I have a theory if you can't do biscuits and gravy right, you can't do anything else right either because of how easy a dish it is to make. Unfortunately, this place had the worst gravy I've ever had. The biscuit was fine but the gravy was so BLAND! And instead of using sausage, they use like diced ham or something which doesn't impart ANY flavor in the gravy and it was used so sparingly anyway. I was 100% disappointed, especially after paying $23.40 for freaking biscuits and gravy! They are out of their minds and I am honestly flabbergasted how they are remaining busy. First Sunday breakfast out since we moved to Orangevale, and it did not disappoint! We were welcomed by super friendly servers and seated quickly. We had an action view next to the window. We had the HOTG Benedict and Scramble. We made the mistake of ordering a breakfast each, but enjoyed (almost) every bite. Big portion size, next time we will split one. Our poached eggs were soft as ordered. Our server mentioned that they can be a bit over cooked if you don't specify how you want them. Coffee was a bit weak but not bad. Our bill was a bit steep so won't be coming every week, but look forward to next time. read more

I recently ordered a big meal over the phone. When I picked up my meal we didn't receive one of our items. Turns out that the lady accidentally rang us up for an extra large bacon meal instead of the country fried chicken meal. They felt terrible and actually gave me two country chicken fried steaks that were amazing fresh no questions asked! The meal was so big, we just reheated the leftovers and they were delicious! At first glance, seemed a lil pricey...but then the portion sizes were amazing, enough for two or even three meals. Left overs are BOMB. Service was so good, never had to ask for anything. This place is popular and I can see why! They welcome you warmly. We wanted to dine outside because we had a dog and a baby, and they were really concerned how hot outside was. It had a pretty good shade so it did not feel too bad. The food came out quick even tho it seemed busy, so that helped too. I normally do not care for breakfast potatoes but they serve them small bite sized and cooked crispy....delicious! Their bacon was cooked to perfection...The biscuit and gravy was somewhat disappointing on the other hand. I just did not care for their biscuits. The side fruits were nice and sweet. Tried Hot off the Griddle in Orangevale for the first time. WOW!! I They live up to their name. I ordered a Rueben sandwich and had to wait for it to cool off before eating it. The corned beef was tender with plenty of mustard and marble rye plus the rest of the "fixings". My brunch partner had biscuits that looked to be the size of softballs. Came for breakfast I ordered mushroom cheese omelet and home fried potatoes. Omelet was a bit singed on the edges. The home fries had been deep fried like so many restaurants are doing now days they tasted and had a texture like they had been cooked yesterday. I asked the waitress if they had freshly cooked ones.
