I had passed this place agazillion times, and every time I said "we should try that place." We finally did, and it was so good! It's a cute little place, painted with bright colors. There is a seating area to wait for your food, and plenty of seating. You order at the counter and your food is brought to your table. The gentleman that greeted us was super friendly and helpful. One of the things that I immediately lived about this place was that many of the dishes have sizes. I almost never finish a regular size plate, and ordered the smaller serving size, which was still a lot of food (my son has to finish mine for me). The portions were quite large. I loved the little extra touch of the flower garnish. I ordered the jerk chicken with fried plantains. This jerk chicken comes in a sauce, rather than the dry rub you sometimes see in jerk chicken. It was soooo yummy and so tender it literally just fell off the bone. The fried plantains were also delish. My son had the curry. He loved it! I rarely if ever leave a review on the internet however, if you're in the chandler area and you are wanting something new or some really delicious Caribbean food I can strongly recommend this place to try out. This spot has been around for a very long time. My husband was Jamaican and before he passed I enjoyed this cuisine regularly. I decided to pick up dinner tonight and yum! The memories and the taste just hit the spot. This little restaurant has seats to enjoy their fresh food inside or take it to go. It is simple not fancy at all. Please don't be in a rush or takes time to get the food ready but it's with the wait. They don't make the patties in house and the person up front didn't know where they were from. Review of the food truck: I was so excited to try this place because it was a unique food truck amidst the others. I ordered the mango wings and also got to try the jerk wings. I wish the meat was fall off the bone but they were a tad tough. The sauce was very rich and plentiful. I could've used a more punch flavor but understand that that doesn't always suit everyone. The fries were sad. Underseasoned and soft. They tasted like frozen fries from the grocery story. They would've definitely been elevated with a spicy/salty seasoning to go with them. Hot Pot is the best authentic Caribbean Jamaican restaurant in Chandler. The food is consistently flavorful, and the chef clearly knows what he's doing. The manager, Karen, also deserves special recognition for her professionalism and customer care. Yesterday, I noticed that my serving wasn't quite right when I got home. I mentioned it to Karen today, and she immediately acknowledged the issue and explained that the employee who served me was very new. Without any delay or unnecessary back‑and‑forth, she personally prepared a fresh, well‑packaged dish and assured me that she would make it right. Such a quaint family spot! It doesn't have the most inviting colors but the vibes are comforting. I get my food to go and I love it because the boxes keep the heat in very well. The jerk chicken we got today fell off the bone and was so flavorful although they could've been a bit more saucy. i suggest you ask for extra sauce! The rice, beans and cabbage are THE side of the year and they pair very nicely with the chicken and ox tails! I'm actually excited because they give you so much! I love Caribbean food and having a new take with Jerk Wings was refreshing and delicious. The wings were smothered in Smoky Jerk sauce and were beautifully smoked. Chk was tough to pull apart with my fork and fingers . Perhaps my taste buds have changed. Also, ordered jerk chk pasta and the thin cut jerk chk seemed to be dry along with the pasta. I was excited to try this place but had high expectations. My family is Belizean so I'm used to eating this specific meal. I was not entirely a fan. The brown stew chicken was noticeably sweet. I know sugar is used in the browning process but it was too much. The rice and peas were okay. Kind of dry in my opinion. And the cabbage had a distinct vinegar taste. None of which was made better by the hot sauce. I think expected that to be something like habanero or scotch bonnet. It was Crystals. Which is also heavily vinegar based. I do a lot of reviews and i hate to write this one. The food was not what I expected. I took my sister and niece and told them I had came years ago and the food was good. I ordered 3 beef patty's 2 oxtails plates 1 jerk chicken plate 1 Escovitch The oxtails were cut extremely thin, 1" x 1" pieces the rice and peas were dry and flavorless, and the plantains were soggy The jerk chicken was burned and lacked flavor. They covered it in a sauce afterwards however, this was not jerk chicken, the Escovitch was extremely overcooked, so much that the thickest portions of the fish were dry and hard to remove bones. Most of the meal was wasted, because the food was not good. I am not one for wasting food however, this food was not good at all. The environment was OK with the exception of a lot of flies inside. Unless there was significant changes with the cooking, I would not recommend this place to anyone read more
