I almost never leave reviews, but this place deserves 10 stars. I have been searching for an authentic Dominican restaurant for years since I left home, and to think the place I was looking for was in Arizona of all places? I'm glad I decided to give them a shot. There is food on the menu I thought I'd never have again, and as it came out I still couldn't believe it being right in front of me. The food was amazing, the flavors remind me of home, seasoning was spot on, every single item we ordered off the menu did not disappoint. The service was exemplary as well, our server did not let us go without water, and ensured we got everything we asked for and more. The ambiance and overall feel of the restaurant was so genuine too, felt like I was in DR, down to the colors on the walls and the music! My new favorite spot. Only complaint is that the owner was not in when I visited the first time so I could shake his hand and thank him for making me feel right at home. Ambiance is preceeded by the tunes being played. Upbeat music with that Latin flare. Tasty entrees done well. Everything smelled so good and arrived to the table quickly. The Mofongo is good with those crunchy bites of chicharrone. Shrimp cooked right. Chicken pieces were really good. The Moro is not much different from dirty rice, per my dining companion. My Sangria was okay but I probably wouldn't order it again. Made me think more like a juice than a wine cocktail. So I visited Mambo's for the first time today for lunch. I started with the Quipe appetizer (deep fried ground beef onions pepper) and it was small but very good. I then tried the fried green plantains and they are pretty good but needed a dipping sauce. I then had Bistec Guisado (braised beef) with Moro rice and a salad. The beef was very tender and was loaded with great flavors. Highly recommend you order this lunch special. There was only was server when they opened but I didn't feel like I was waiting too long and the food came out pretty quick. My second home as of 2023 has been the beautiful Dominican Republic. The months I'm unable to travel back there, I'm extremely grateful that the BEST Dominican restaurant out of the entire East Valley (possibly all of AZ too), is literally down the street from my AZ home. The beginning of my pregnancy led me to order their Sancocho since I was craving my mother-in-law's cooking. Apparently they only make Sancocho here on Sundays, so I got to try their regular chicken soup on Saturday and came back the next day to get their Sancocho. I would say the flavors curbed my craving. I do want to come back and actually try their other entrees. Like I wonder what their mangu tastes like, that'll be another true test as well. Service every time here has been friendly and warm (that's very typical of the Dominican culture). Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Now that the weather is cooling off I'm sure their patio will be packed on busy nights. read more

My family and I eat here (order) every 2-4 weeks for the past year-ish. Our order is typically: - Habichuelas--these are stewed beans with some potato, peppers, onion in this beautiful brown sauce. I always want more of this. - Mambo's platter regular--comes with: fried pork pieces, fried chicken pieces, and tostones/fried plantains. - Quipe--it's a deep fried wheat type dough with Dominican seasoned ground beef inside. This is another must! The green sauce that comes with it is *chefs kiss*. - "Bistec Salteado" is our most recently ordered dish. It's a braised beef with peppers and onions. Another chance to try something new brought me to Mambo's and I enjoyed ever moment. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we saw the most handsome men!!!! First impression is "Wow, there's eye candy already and we haven't had food yet!" Seriously, the service was amazing and the food was top notch! Our waitress even gave us a shot of mama-juana (if you've been to the DR you know all about this) and it was the smoothest tasting mama-juana I've ever had! Dangerous drink that will have you feeling some type of way!!! I ordered the pollo guisado and it was so flavorful and fall off the bone tender. The moro (rice with peas or beans) was the perfect accompaniment to the chicken. I wanted to eat half of it just so I could have some more for the late late night treat. This restaurant is really amazing overall. The food was super filling and flavorful. I loved the empanadas as they were super soft and juicy on the inside. The main dish was pretty filling and could feed two people if you are wanting to get a lot of other food. There are so many great options it was hard to choose what to eat. I also recommend getting one of the smoothies, I got a mango smoothie and it was so creamy and delicious I drank it so fast. Our server was super sweet and quick to bring out our food. This place has such a great ambiance with latin music playing in the background and families enjoying their food. We didn't have any issues eating here and we will definitely be coming back again! If you like falafel, you must try the quipes which I love. They are moist and juicy since they have meat, and the chimmichuri sauce is fantastic. The server was friendly and our order arrived in a timely manner. My friend ordered the chimi burger and it also had melted cheese on top of the bun. He loved it and he received a generous portion of fries. The pollo guisado is a "plato típico" or how traditionally or typically the dish is prepared or served in DR. It comes with white rice or with beans which can be drier. The decor will remind anyone of the island's love of vibrant colors, and love for sports. I have seen this place in passing and have wanted to try it but just never took the opportunity. Yesterday we went after a hike for lunch. I now know that waiting so long to visit here was a mistake! The service was immediate and pleasant. It appears the business is a family run business and I loved that. The restaurant itself was very inviting and colorful! I almost felt like I was in the DR! The food was amazing and plentiful! I surely did not go home hungry! The tilapia was perfectly cooked and the soup was amazing although I didn't eat it as soup, I poured it over the rice. Yum! Do yourself a favor an try this place!!! Authentic Dominican food - flavorful with large portions! The Presidente Dominican beer is a nice compliment to any dish. The plantains appetizers can be a bit dry as opposed to Cuban-style. It is really hard to find flaw with the food. Just about everything is just delicious, but what really sets this place apart is the service. The staff is friendly and always keeping an eye on your needs. As for the food, we have tried too many, but some of our favorites are the Empanadas for appetizers. Mix and match. They are all delicious! The Chuleta al Salten - ask if they are thin or thick, as the thin will overcook and be dry (unless that's how you like it) - it has some great seasoning! Bistec Encebollado is a go-to every time! Camarones al Ajillo for the garlic lover in all of us! Simply delicious! Even lunch is great here. Try a Cubano for a real treat! My partner and I came to Mambo's under the recommendation of a good friend who knows that we love, love, love all kinds of plantain dishes. You're immediately greeted with the friendliest of service. The good mood the employees have also put us in a good mood :) the music they play is also so fun, but also just a touch too loud for casual conversation with friends. My partner and I ordered a side of maduros, Mambo's platter, mofongo de cerdo, and morir soñando. We have never had bad maduros and this was no exception. The meat in Mambo's platter and the plantains in the mofongo de cerdo were a bit dry. The mofongo really benefits from the accompanying garlic sauce. If you're a garlic lover, you're going to absolutely love the sauce and use all of it just like I did. You get served with a side of sauces and salsas too, which helps with the platter. Everything was so savory with good flavor. The morir soñando was so refreshing and goes really well with the savoriness of the food. I would definitely recommend trying their dishes with one of their natural juice drinks. If you never had Dominican food before, definitely check Mambo's out! read more

The pollo gusaido was amazing! The tostones were crispy which was a pleasant surprise (they were nice and poked holes in the container so the tostones traveled well). The white rice tasted slightly burnt but the sauce was flavorful and masked the burnt taste well. The chicken quite literally fell off the bone. Everyone loved their dish. read more

Was really craving a good Cuban Sandwich a few days ago but we live in Surprise & it would have been a long drive. Today we happened to be in Chandler for a car event, I think I was more excited that I can stop by this place than attending the car event itself. We got there when it just opened so it was not busy at all. Our order was taken right away by the very nice & friendly waitress. Food: We ordered the Mambo platter which came with fried chicken, fried pork and tostones & the Cuban sandwiches with French fries. The items in the mambo platter were all deliciously flavorful, moist & cooked to perfection. The Cuban Sandwich was out of this world, it's the best I've ever had! The sandwich was perfectly cooked with the right amount of ham, shredded pork and cheese. It was full of flavor & the bread was crispy on the outside. First time trying Dominican food in the Chandler area and it did not disappoint! We placed our to go order over the phone. It took about 30 minutes. Arrived during dinner time. Greeted quickly and the waitress went over my order before laying g which was appreciated. We got the braised chicken which only came with 3 pieces so if you're looking for more if this delicious dish, you may want to order another. Next we go the Morongo shrimp-came with plantains in the middle smothered with garlic gravy. The shrimp was plump and filling! Don't forget the empanadas! We tried three items-Caribbean beef, chicken, and guava/cheese. The beef and chicken were filling especially with their green and mayo based sauces (didn't get the name). Wish they're was more filling in the guava-it was ok. Lastly, we got beans and rice and a side salad (complementary with one of the dishes). Everything we ate was filled with flavor. You really can't go wrong with any order. Next time, we'll try one of their pork dishes. Staff were very friendly and helpful, tables were clean. Service was great. I'd come back again. read more

I was raised around Dominican food in NY, so I was pretty intrigued about Mambo's here. The food is alright, but it feels super basic, not to mention quite small portions. I don't know how to explain it, but it doesn't feel like it has soul. Someone else wrote "uninspired," and I think that's an accurate way to describe it. It's good if you want some tostones and maduros, but it's akin to a meal that you'd get at a supermarket, for so much money. For apps, I got a beef empanada, and it was dryer than a nun's underwear. I only finished it because I was so hungry. Also got maduros, which is pretty much my favorite thing in the world, and they were great, but who messes up maduros?! No one. Got the yucca frita as well, and that was just fine. For my entree, I got the bistec guisado, which is shredded beef and veggies. I asked to sub out the rice with tostones ($1), which was the highlight for me, but I mean, who dislikes tostones? The beef and veggies was covered in salt and I barely touched it. It's not only not impressive, but it's also really ridiculously overpriced! it's a pretty small portion, and it's not that great, and it's almost $20! Back home, that is about 1/4 of the price. I was not really happy and I'm craving some Dominican food from Harlem right now, because that's where it's at. read more
