I love hot pot meals and this place was excellent. The interior was clean and bright. It's a small restaurant with about 10 tables on the inside and a few tables on the outside. The staff were very courteous and efficient. They have 10 different broths to choose from. My hubby suggested the Canh Chua $10.99. It's a Vietnamese sweet and sour soup made from chicken broth. It's sweetened with pineapple, tomato and taro stem; then garnished with spring onion and Thai basil. The selection of food is on colored coated plates: $3.89 for green, $4.89 for yellow, $5.89 for red, $6.89 for blue and $10.89 for black. Most of the meat and seafood plates are $6.89. Most of the noodles and veggies plates are $4.89. I wasn't sure if I was going to like the broth. Holy smokes, I eat a lot of hot pot and it was one of the best I've ever tasted. I couldn't stop drinking it. My hubby told me to stop or we weren't going to have any broth to cook the food in. Luckily, the staff told us if we needed more broth that it was refillable. We got ribeye, brisket, shrimp, udon, pumpkin, quail eggs and tobiko ball. Everything was fresh. The shrimp with head was huge. My favorite was the tobiko ball. I just love that, tobiko in fishcake. The sauce bar was good. Any outstanding hot pot place needs a good sauce bar. The first sauce I mixed was black bean with house special and cilantro. The second was miso with ginger and sesame with cilantro. They were both delicious. I don't think you can go wrong mixing any of the sauces. We got a stamp card after we paid our bill. We were so excited to hear about the new Kailua Hot Pot Heaven Lunch menu! We were the very first in the world to try it! Everything we ordered was delicious! If you order a Pho, you get an egg roll to celebrate the new menu! The egg roll had just the right crunch and the filling was so yummy! It comes with that sauce you want to just drink on its own! The summer rolls were humongous! It comes with a peanut sauce that you'd want to slather on everything! And the pho! Like Pho Heaven, the broth is the bomb! So good, gotta drink up every drop. We pass this place all the time but finally decided to venture inside. I am so glad we did! It is very no-frills from the outside, so my husband wasn't sure about it. We decided to get an early dinner--around 5pm on a Saturday. By the time we left, the place was packed! We also were nervous about hotpot with two very young children. It was so delicious and incredibly reasonably priced. We picked two different broths, and we were able to move the hot pot away from the children. They were given child-friendly utensils, which was nice. We picked a couple proteins and split it. I love the fridge and the plate concept--you can just walk up and grab whatever you want to put in your hotpot from the fridge and they calculate your total by the color of the plate--like genki sushi. The fridge has a wide variety of veggies, other protein and noodles. The kids had fun picking out what they wanted. There was ample parking, the bathroom (although outside and you need a key) was clean and the service was very attentive. There's not many hot pot spots near Kailua, but luckily this place does it well. The meats are good cuts and the broths are flavorful. The sauce and topping bar has many options and even a small list of recommendations for your chosen meats/veggies. Service is very fast, friendly, and attentive. Overall this a nice casual restaurant for some food hot pot. The price point is a bit high (spent $89+ tip for 2 ppl) considering we stuck to broth, meat, veggies, and water. Although considering the food quality is higher than some ayce places, it's worth it. They also have a stamp card program for return customers. I just came here for a visit with my family of five, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food! This place is pay-per-plate (not all you can eat), and the total for our party of five ended up being around $85 before tip. We got the Thai Broth at level 5/10 spice and the Miso Broth (not spicy). Most of the party enjoyed the Thai Broth more, but the Miso is also great and preferable for people who do not want spice. Both broths already came with a few additions to the soup. For example, the miso had some tofu and seaweed in it. For meats, we enjoyed the ribeye more than the brisket, but both were good. We also ordered chicken breast and shrimp (comes whole and in the shell). We also got lots of yummy veggies and fresh noodles from the self-serve fridge. Honestly, I like this restaurant more than Shabuya at Ala Moana Mall. The broth here was rich and flavorful, the meats were good quality, and the restaurant had a small homely feel. It was kind of on a lark that we ended up here. We had been to Book Ends to find some books for my wife to read while in Hawaii. We started looking at some other places, but they did not have sit down seating for a very late lunch. But this place did. I had had shabu shabu in Japan, but not the Vietnamese/Hawaiian version. We had to first pick our broth. We chose a Vietnamese sweet and sour, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Then we went to their coolers and picked shrimp, soba noodles, mushrooms, green spinach and various condiments. The only person working there explained the process and what best would accompany our choices. He was most helpful. You cook your food in the broth, hence the designation hot pot. It was really good! Not crowded, so we could take our time. We both really enjoyed this place and highly recommend it. read more

The range of ingredients that you could pick from the refrigerated cabinets was quite stunning. Finally the person serving us could not have been more helpful. This place allows seating until 8:30 pm and stays serving food for a good while after so get in there! I consider this place a lucky find for me. I was hungry for protein and it smelled great so I went in. Their toro beef was particularly good, and the ribeye, shortrib, pork belly, and lamb was also good. They use plate colors for pricing and all the side dishes are arranged in the display fridges so you can select what you want and bring it to your table. There was a pleasing variety of vegetables, like bok choy and choy sum and shimeji and enoki mushrooms and way more. Also had the standard fish balls, tobiko balls, meat balls, and some other fun pre-sliced fish cuts and cooked beef on bone for boiling. The plethora of sauces like miso, black bean, two types of spicy sauce, ginger sauce, soy, a house sauce, and tons more were perfect for trying out. Oh yeah, their chicken broth and their beef broth were both hearty. Beef was like pho and the chicken was just very satisfying to drink. Super friendly and helpful. The broth selection was good. Lots and lots of choices for ingredients. Everything fresh. The space was Very clean. and not too crowded. Had a homey vibe and good ambiance. Outside seating of you don't mind the warm Kailua weather. We called ahead to check time availability and they added us to the list so we had zero wait time. Saw the sign for hot pot and knew I had to stop by here! There is a parking lot on the side with ample space and the interior is clean and bright. You choose 1-2 broths, and then the various toppings/meats you want. The service was friendly and attentive. They accept credit card and check your vaccination status/ID. We got the beef broth and it tasted very light and flavorful. You can get unlimited refills of the broth. We enjoyed the variety of packaged sauces from ponzu to bean curd to hoisin to sambal. The ingredients were fresh and portioned well. 4 of us ate until we were full and the bill before tip came out to around $60. Definitely recommend! read more

I gotta start off by saying, the staff here are so attentive to your needs. And it's the same owners as the McCully Shopping Center location! We even got to meet the owner tonight and chatted with him for a little bit. Husband and wife dynamic duo. And as of today (Nov 2021) they've been open for about 5 months now. Got the miso broth, which in my opinion was amazing! It even came with tofu and seaweed inside! There's something special in the broth, that makes it different from other places. I can't even pinpoint what it is, but it's great! Their beef balls and tsukune from the fridge are also really yummy too! Don't forget to get or use your stamp card when you go! All in all, there's not many options for good hot pot places available in Kailua. So I'm super happy that they opened up out here. After driving by the Hot Pot Heaven (HPH) in Kailua for better than a year we finally decided it was time to try them out. Having now eaten there twice we feel like we owe them an apology for not becoming one of their satisfied customers earlier. The broths are numerous and very good. The proteins are varied and very flavorful. Even though it's what you'd expect/hope HPH definitely offers many fresh ingredients and in-house made dumplings. Hot Pot Heaven is a must. Saw the great reviews and loved the fact that it was charged by plate so decided to try it out. We got the Korean soup base and Thai soup and omg delicious. So good we went back a second time to their Honolulu location. The Thai soup base is a MUST TRY. If you like Tom yum soup a spicy and sour/sweet soup then get it! We're from California and this was the best Thai soup weve ever had!! The guys running this shop are amazing too. So friendly and fast. They made us feel just at home. We headed over immediately and we're greeted by a super kind and accommodating staff. Seriously, the people here are just the sweetest!
