Saturday May 10, 2025 first time, trying this Chinese food place. We decided to phone order as this would be the best and the fastest option. I ordered and it would be ready in 10 minutes. Plenty parking in the Temple Valley Shopping Center with Times Supermarket, Times Coffee Shop, McDonald's and more. Plenty food and the plates were full and heavy. The noodles for the Crispy Gay Gee Mein tasted like the noodles you use for saimin. But, dry and firm in texture. I found a clear, long piece that looked like fishing line in my food??!! I should've taken a picture of it. But, I just threw it away as it was underneath the noodles and inside of the take out container. I ate most of it already when I found it. Oh, wells. That usually happens to my friend and not me. I guess, it was my turn and there is always a first time for everything. Lol. The noodles for the Soft Gau Gee Mein was soft, different type noodles for some reason. But, wet and really soft in texture. Ambiance inside is casual. Not sure, if we will try here again. read more

We love take out Chinese food. But we are picky. Hidden in a small strip mall at the very end, is this small Chinese restaurant. When we walked in we were a little worried. Tables had boxes stacked on them, little in the trays. It felt pretty uninviting to be honest. But the man behind the counter was kind and welcomed us in. While not much was in the trays, they did have what we were looking for, so we decided to order. The man behind the counter offered us pieces of the meats hanging in the window and we knew we made the right choice. The crispy pork in the window was amazing! Between the two of us we got fried rice, crispy pork, sweet and sour pork and the broccoli beef. Everything was amazing. I was even super impressed with the fried rice which actually had flavor, and I think was cooked in sesame oil. Then we both got drinks. I got the plantation ice tea and it was so flavorful! My son got boba milk tea and said it's the best he's had on island so far. We will for sure be back! read more

Very hole in the wall, very underwhelming...but, for some reason I make it a practice to stop here for char siu and roast pork anytime I am headed past Temple Valley to go to the beach (Chinaman's Hat etc.) or cruise around the island. It definitely will hold you over until you get to Kahuku or North Shore. Their char siu just hits! Ask for the brunt pieces for extra flavor! read more

Worst experience of my life. Walked in to order food and the lady didn't want to make anymore she looked at us like she didn't want To help us or cook more . She wanted to serve us old noodles . It was horrible . Not sure how it has good reviews. Maybe the food makes up for it ? Idk we left because she refused to make more food. read more

Still one of my favorite places to pick up Char Siu and Roast Pork on the island. Better than Chinatown in my book as the meat is quality, tender and seasoned perfectly... I ordered a lunch plate including fried rice, Black Bean Zucchini and Pork Tofu. The two main dishes were unpleasantly salty and both the pork in the pork tofu and the Chicken in the Zucchini dish were dry, tough, very chewy and difficult eat and swallow. The fried rice looked good but had little or no intensity of flavor one would normally expect from decent Chinese fried rice. The price was the only saving grace. Unless they solve their excess salt problem and stop using dry tough meats in these dishes, I cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

The food is always delicious here. And so affordable. We absolutely loved the stuffed eggplant. So so yummy. We also always come here for their onolicious turkey tail. Very reasonable price for the quality and quantity of food you get at this restaurant. I went in to order a two entree meal with roast pork and oyster sauce chicken 30 minutes before closing. There seemed to be nothing left, but they cooked the fried noodles fresh for me. The oyster chicken was not fresh but still good. I will be back to try other items. read more

We ordered the combination plates that come with a piece of gaugee and a choice of starch. The servings were generous. The blended drinks are really refreshing. My kids asked for boba. They are made with real fruit, which doesn't make the drink overly sweet. read more

Another chance given... After reading Christine L.'s and Masa K.'s reviews, I returned to this cozy restaurant on the Windward side of O'ahu. I visited a couple of times prior to this, but wasn't that impressed. I think it's because I just ordered Beef Broccoli...my fault for not being adventurous. Giving this place another look, I've noticed a few things: Service: it appears that dad runs the kitchen; the son runs the front as cashier, order taker, and bubble drink maker; and mom goes in between. Everyone is humble, polite, and hard working. Kudos to the son who makes great effort to chit chat with customers! Environment: clean, old-school type of place with an almost hole in the wall ambiance. There are several tables and chairs for dining in. Beverages: "not powder", but made with "fresh fruit". I got the lychee boba drink which was just right...not too sweet with chewy boba! Food: I got the item that jumped out at me - the hum hah oong choi with pork and 2 scoops white rice... whoa! Don't tell my mom, but this version is better than hers because of the BOLD flavors! I had to balance it out with the rice and couldn't stop eating it! Yeah! Onolicious! I also got the Sweet Sour Cabbage which was different from what I've had because the sauce was thicker and sweeter. On the other hand, the Rice Cake was a generous portion and topped off my happy tummy! If you are visiting The Valley of the Temples or are in the Ahuimanu/Kaneohe area, stop by this Chinese restaurant, known for its Roast Pork and Cha Siu. Long story short, my mom & I visited the Byodo-in temple & this place is right across the street at Ko'olau center. It's on the opposite end of McDonald's & next to subway. My mom is a vegetarian so naturally she saw "Chinese restaurant" ...so they MUST have vegetarian dishes. Walking in, it wasn't what I expected. I expected a sit down Chinese restaurant with servers etc...but it's a small establishment with a few tables. It's a little run down & the bathroom is in the kitchen but quaint. You have a few options. Order from their pre-made 1 -3 choice style meal. I opted for this since I eat with my eyes. I chose beef with broccoli & mapo tofu. Both were very flavorful, not too salty and to be completely honest, I was pleasantly surprised. Broccoli was crunchy & meats were tasty. there was nothing on the menu that my mom could order (their vegetarian soup uses chicken broth FYI) so I told this to the young guy up front & he was able to have them make authentic vegetarian soup with no meat broths and a stir fry just for my mom ( talk about service) She really enjoyed the flavors, the soup definitely didn't just taste like shoyu and water warmed up (we were afraid of this) There's also roast duck & pork hanging by the window, and I saw that they had steamed buns & in my mind pops PEKING DUCK, duh! I got a roast duck to go with some buns (my husband's favorite!) Just when I thought I was gonna get away after a good meal, the guy recommended a bubble drink ... he said they use fresh fruits (way to my heart) so I ordered one of the "popular" flavors...strawberry/pineapple with boba. It definitely did not disappoint! It was not overly sweet & you can definitely taste that it's fresh fruit & not powder. If I'm ever in the area again, I wouldn't mind coming back. So I used to like this place. But I will say I based my review on just tasting the roast pork. Which I will still say the roast pork is still my favorite and it is really good! Buuuutt just a couple days ago I ordered some other stuff on their menu: #1. egg foo yong: NOT good at all. I've had this plenty of times before at other restaurants. This was not what I expected. It was just fried scrambled eggs. With a couple bell peppers. It's no where near what it should be. Very disappointed! #2. Honey walnut shrimp: how could you get this wrong?! Ohhh they did! It tastes like there was powder mixed in, and the shrimp was old! #3. Crispy chow mein noodles: bland. #4. Roast pork: still really good! #5. Pork hash: old old old. Dry. Not good! To top it off all of this was $70!!! Not worth it at all! They also had a buffet but I everything looked old and soggy. So yeah not sure if I'll be coming back. read more

Stopped in for a plate .... the price is not bad $9.42 with tax for a two item plate. My review is always based of course in my experience. I wanted to eat something different for grind.... it was alright. I think portion was good for the price. So definitely earns a star. Customer service was great ... it's very family driven business the daughter and mom are definitely friendly and even make suggestions on what to try. So that definitely gets 2 stars The food was alright nothing that made the fat happy cells go boooom. It was a yay we are eating something kind of feeling. I was really wanting some chow fun ... but was disappointed it was bland no flavor to it... lacked a few things. The sweet sour pork was very chewy probably could have benefited boiling longer or something to make it a bit more tender.... Jai was actually pretty good lots of veggies..., however based on 3 items only 1 satisfied the hunger. So no star on this I do have co-workers that love this place. The restaurant is located in the shopping center with Koolau Theatres access from Kahekili Highway or Hui Iwa. Convenient and abundant parking for those gathering to celebrate the life of a loved one or beloved pet, across the street at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. If you're in a hurry you can grab a mixed plate a la Panda Express style but the choices looked dry and unappetizing. I opted to order and dine in. I craved the boneless chicken with ung choi with gravy over cake noodle. It was about 11.00 including tax. I thought it was overpriced, the gravy was on the watery side, and the portion was not as heaping as you'd expect for this dish as priced. I was impressed with the taste, however. The gravy was not too salty. Service was a bit slow, it's been quicker at other Chinese restaurants I've been to and I was the only customer in at the time, which was 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon. My water was not refilled during my visit. They do accept credit cards for purchases over $5.00. read more

Okay so that was a waste of time. It's 6:30pm they no longer have anything in the warmers to make multiple choice plates like Panda Express even though the sign outside says that they close at 8:00pm (they were actually washing everything down). I wouldn't be so upset if they had told us that the last time we came a couple of weeks ago and left because there were no multiple choice plates instead of coming back a second time just to find out now. Located in the temple Valley shopping center, is a tiny Chinese restaurant called the Chinese restaurant. It is a family owned and run business that has been around at least a decade. This is our go to spot for a quick lunch or dinner, and also for potluck celebrations. They make one of the best roast pork I have eaten at this little tiny restaurant. The food is always fresh , well seasoned and balanced. Never to salty or bland. Next time you're in the area on the way to the beach or just cruising around the island stop by and grab a quick bite, you will not be disappointed. read more

This was a good place to eat something new for a change. I was wondering how this place is and I really liked it. I just wished that they had brown rice though. The restaurant is located nearby the theater area and let me tell you that this location is simply a place where you can have a meal before going to a movie. Also I noticed that there was a TV there and people were watching Wheel of Fortune, which was amyb game show. I am glad that I finally found a good place to have a good dinner somewhere and just enjoy my food too. Thanks for for the enjoyable meal and I hope that I will be able to return again really soon and try the other items that this place has to offer. This restaurant is located in the Koolau shopping center, so plenty of parking here (though it may not be directly in front of the shop). Park towards the theatre end near Subway and Times Coffee Shop. When you walk in, you get a homey vibe and the staff was very friendly. It's a small shop with just a few tables, but I think most people just grab take out. I'm always looking for new places closer to home where I can buy some good quality charsiu and roast pork without having to make the long trip to China Town (I live on the North Shore!). Decided to stop here and get a quick lunch too. I went with the 2 entree plate and got chow mien, sweet & sour pork, plus shoyu chicken. Over all, quality was just average. The noodles were a little on the dry side. The sweet and sour pork meat was also dry and maybe fried a little too long (kinda tough) but the flavor was alright. The shoyu chicken was probably my favorite. It's not the classic Hawaii style shoyu chicken, but the Chinese style. Basically chicken lightly braised in a semi sweet soy sauce and chopped into large pieces. It was nice and light, not too saucy but the meat was not dry, it was actually pretty tender and flavorful. I also ordered 1/2lb each of charsiu and roast pork. Both were excellent, especially if you like the little crispy ends on your charsiu (just a little, not too much). Definitely will come back for more of that! Skin on the roast pork was crunchy and salted as it should be. read more
