I took my grandson on Nov 1 We order our drinks and food . My grandson got his breakfast for dinner and I got my salad with his meal. Then she came back with my Chicken Philly .? She walked away didn't check back how everything was for a while. I asked for no bell peppers sure enough it was loaded up with the peppers. I can't have bell peppers. She finally came around to see how everything is and my grandson was just taking his last few bites. I let her know my order is very wrong. I told I asked for no peppers and it's loaded with them. She said she let know when she turned in the order and get me a new order. Well the time it took for them to redo my order he was ready to go . These three guys came in the restaurant and talking loud and using the F word likes there only few words they knew. It was just a flat out not good price are high food ok . As we entered we were told to sit where we wanted and since this was our first time we didn't actually know where the cafe part , as there is a bar and a cafe. We were told which area was clean to sit at and which area to avoid as it needed cleaning still. The staff was welcoming. Our waitress smiled nicely and greeted us, and took our order. The BLT sandwich came with cold bacon, seem to be right out of the fridge, and very underdone french fries. The second item was the barbecue bacon cheeseburger with the onion ring on top. No sauce lettuce or tomato was requested. When served there was no cheese nor bacon on the burger, it was sent back and she's was placed on. The plate seemed to be reheated as the cheese was almost melted and the fries were hot however the burger was now cool. We spoke to the waitress about this and she was very apologetic and also replaced the first orders fries even sending it back to make sure that it was well done or at least done. We spoke to the manager who asked if we asked the waitress to fix everything as we were eating and we said yes however bacon was never put on the second meal and we expressed our disappointment at the food. He asked if we wanted the food we made and we said no thank you, he picked up our plates and walked away. I don't think I will be returning. read more

I give this place No Stars. I went there with a group of friends early a few days ago. "We were asked my the owner if we had money?" We said yes why wouldn't we have money. We wouldn't be here if we didn't have money. We were waiting on a friend to arrive. When he gets there, the owner doesn't let him in and tells all of us we had to leave. We were confused on what was going on. We were told to leave the restaurant because his bathroom was destroyed yesterday. I mind you that this was all of our 1st time going to this restaurant and our last. We were so embarrassed by the way the owner treated us it was unreal. Never again will I go there. I've been a few times and up untill today, my only was the parking. Today just wasn't a good day. I noticed they've down sized their coffee cups. Kinda caught my attention as a part of me live their old cups. They were heavy and a perfect size which helped keep the coffee hot. Then I noticed their creamers also shrunk. Wait a minute I thought. We, a party of 7 adults, even talked about the change in size which we passed over with a inflation sizing humorous acceptance. It was a birthday breakfast we were having before 9 am. We chose that taking into consideration of the business that would be populating the diner later on this morning. We were just finishing up when the cook, I'm going to presume he was either the owner or manager came to our table and rudely asked us to get going as he needed the table. No we didn't make a scene but did tidy things up to leave. Heck our plates weren't even removed from the table yet. I approached this person to try and talk but....... In a rather rude way that drew attention from the other patrons he asked me to look at the front door where a few people were standing and question my comon sense. I won't be going back there again and if he acts this way with patrons in the diner I sure am wondering how he treats his staff if they should make a mistake. The service wasn't bad but it was a little mechanical and stiff as im reflecting back on my experience there today. Portions are big and prices are moderate considering that. The bad is their water, it's nasty tasting. As a result their coffee, fountain sodas, and ice taste crappy. If they have filtration, it needs an upgrade. So you order a canned soda or a bottled water, right? Nope, they don't have canned or bottled soda or bottled water. Always drive by this place so i finally came with my kids to try it. First of all i want to say that i love the 60s theme this diner has! I ordered the love me tender breakfast which consisted of chicken fried steak, eggs, potatoes & biscuits & gravy for only 9.99! It was delicious & portions were also great. First of all my first experience at this place was amazing. I had the most caring and amazing waitress. But however today 6/11 the service was absolutely horrible. I had the laziest server. She was to busy talking to staff instead of making sure our meal was ok. I've been eating lunch here regularly for several months and has always been excellent, today that took a sharp turn for the worst. I have never experienced such poor service anywhere ever! We decided to eat in the bar area, bartender greeted us she seemed very nice we were the only patrons in the bar at the time.. it went completely down hill from there.. We ordered a couple of Iced teas with lemon she disappeared.....15 minutes later they were delivered at which time we placed our order and then waited & waited & waited & waited still the only people in her area... you get the picture, after 25 minutes one of our orders showed up! cold burger and fries.. the other order never showed up??? meanwhile another patron walked in the bar was instantly served a beverage and ordered a chicken salad that was delivered in 7 minutes! while we were still waiting for other lunch order to be delivered. She finally came back to tell us that someone else had taken the other half of the order and it was the cooks fault??? are you kidding me!! I'm pretty sure she was our server and when both orders were not ready at the same time at the kitchen that would be her responsibility to correct that asap! but instead was oblivious to the situation and then had the gall to blame others for her shortcomings. and yes she did place the order because we had her remove the other lunch from our bill Too bad really nice owner that worked hard to establish a great reputation only to have a employee's inability to wait on customers ruin it. This place sucked. There was a rat or mouse running around the diner. When the waitresses were told about it they seemed to act like it was a diner mascot. The utensils had caked on food when told about that she ignored are comments or didn't respond just took them and wrapped up some other ones and handed them to us. I was home for spring break and thought I would try this place out. My family and I arrived at 6:30 and sat down and were promptly greeted and given water. We then ordered and began the LONG wait for our food. After over an hour of watching other families come in, eat, and leave, we were told that our order had fallen behind others and hadn't been started yet. We made the decision to just leave because we had a banquet that we were late for. The waitress promised us the food would be ready soon and if we were to leave, she would have to pay for our whole meal. We reluctantly stayed and received our food 1 and a half hours after arriving. Our food was mediocre at best, with multiple mess ups on our order. My dad specifically asked for no mushrooms and received a burger COVERED in mushrooms. My girlfriends chicken wings were burnt to a crisp and my mom's salad was cold, bland, and boring. The manager came out and promised us 50% off our meal, yet when we went to pay, we only received 30%. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Please go to Denny's instead since it's right next door or just stay home to avoid having a poor family outing. read more

I went with my partner a few days ago. The place appeared clean and the staff was busy (but not that busy). Their prices differed from the menu to the check. Everything was more expensive on the check. The price of a cup of coffee was over $2.50 and they did not refill it. We also waited over 20 minutes for them to pick up our card so we could get out of there, and the waitress never came back to our table. They came by to fill up our waters but didn't pick up t the check! It was crazy. We finally just paid with cash so we wouldn't be late for work. There were also an elderly couple waiting at the front that were waiting to be seated just as long as we were waiting for our check to be run, and they looked just as fed up as we were. I do not recommend this place. The food was ok, not worth the price. read more

I live nearby and due to convenience thought I'd give it a try. I was here 10/16 for breakfast. I ordered corn beef hash and eggs and it came with two pancakes. The corn beef hash was okay for 10.00 and the waitresses all seemed to be cordial and working hard. That's where the positivity ends. My meal came to me after 15 minutes which I don't think is bad. The two pancakes took 40 minutes. I asked where they were twice. When I finally got them, they were shaped like Mickey mouse heads and I wondered if I had been served from the children's menu. The tv's are all zoomed in or set to the wrong format so they looked pixelated and will give you a headache if you watch for too long. This is nitpicking and not a deal breaker just a mistake but the next issue was the final straw for me. A small child on the opposite side of the restaurant was screaming every 8-10 seconds as if it was at home playing a game and it was piercing. Everyone around me was looking to see where it was coming from. It was incredibly loud and I was the furthest from it. The parents obviously didn't care. I saw employees behind the counter looking to see what it was but not a single one did a thing about it. This went on for a half an hour. I cannot imagine what it was like for the people next to it. When something like this is happening common sense tells you to risk upsetting the "horrific" parents and say something so that the other 50 people in your packed diner aren't uncomfortable. This single star yelp is the result of management doing nothing! The Denny's right next to this place is better for less money. read more

This place has definitely taken a turn for the worse. Not only do the staff not enforce any masks during the time being for inside dining, they all around discard anyone whom decides to eat outside. I decided to take my family out for breakfast this morning at Hot Rod but ended up leaving hungry and disappointed. The waitress assured me outside dining was an option and when arriving the sitting area was dirty. She wiped the table down after we had been seated and only because we requested this. Afterwards we were left wiping our own chairs down because she did not. After taking our drink order she returned with two coffees and asked to take the drink order once more because " they had her running around and she forgot " which I understood the busy morning but was still unprofessional. We got our coffee but had to go inside ourselves to grab creamer, sugar and the other amenities. After waiting an hour for our food and watching others receive their orders I just had to patience to give. Not only did my grandfather not have the opportunity to eat, my one year old daughter was unable to because of this disorganized labor. This experience was complete bullshit and I will NEVER return to this place, also as a business owner I will advise everyone I know to stay away from here. Stopped here on our way to Merced. It was busy, but we were seated pretty quick. My reason for two stars is because it took 20-25 min to get our order taken, another 30-40 min to get our food. I myself ordered a 1/2 tuna sandwich & soup (clam chowder) and it was Saturday. I returned my soup as it tasted sour, I figured with the return I would get something small to replace it, like a small cup of chili. After the return of the soup, our waitress did not come back to the table for at least another 15/20 minutes, mind you the rush was gone. By that time the 20 min was up, I was fed up & decided to get nothing as a replacement of my soup. She did remove it from the check, but I figured with a complaint, you'd fix the issue.
