Recently, I had lunch at Perko's, as I do once a month with a local group that meets there. The food is consistently excellent, the service is always friendly and helpful, and any substitutions or special requests are cheerfully accommodated. What really stands out to me is the consistency. Every visit has been a positive experience, and Perko's continues to compare very favorably with other restaurants here in Modesto. I had lunch here today, my mom loves this restaurant. I have been here before with my mom, she had her usual bacon and eggs, it was lunch time and I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with a house salad w/ honey mustard dressing. The salad and the dressing was good but soon as the server set the spicy chicken sandwich in front of me I could already tell just by the bright orange drippy sauce. I cut a piece to try it and there was really no spice and it had a vinegar after taste. I didn't eat the sandwich. I've had the blueberry muffins here and they are good The service is good here, the server is very nice. read more

Would give this place a three and a half. The coffee is drinkable and alright. Good choice of creamers... the waitress Andrea was amazing. We got the best deals for breakfast, the pick 4 for $13.50. The biscuits and gravy was good just wish the biscuit was softer. On the other end, the hashbrowns should have been cook through more. We got them remade and even the remade wasn't cooked all the way. We were happily comped for that meal (thank you.) The pancakes and French toast was pretty good and the sausage, eggs, and bacon were good. The country spuds, cut up potatoes with skin on them lacked seasoning. The atmosphere was nice as it was clean, service was friendly, super quick, and the overall impression of the restaurant is a like home town diner/country livin' vibe. Classic americana diner with attentive staff. Location is with a lot of other businesses so parking can get tricky. Smaller of the Perko's locations, but still the same great wait staff, good cooks and low prices. We had a group of 5 men who had big appetites and strange extra's for the orders. We ate at Perkos thus morning. It was about 10:45. As usual the service was good. I had a Denver omlette and has browns. My son had eggs, sausage patties, hashbrowns, and biscuits & gravy. My hashbrowns were luke warm and smelled like old grease. My son's food was luke warm and his hashbrowns were the same as mine. This has always been a good bet for breakfast, but if this is an example of how they are doing business going forward, we'll be eating elsewhere. The 2 stars are for the service. read more

I went to the McHenry location. I ordered their Meatloaf dinner, it was dry & had no flavor, the mashed potatoes were not smooth, the broccoli was cooked well but the zucchini and squash were mushy I won't be going back! read more

While waiting for my car to get serviced, I walked to this location. Very clean place with AWESOME service. I got the chicken fried steak breakfast from their fabulous 50's menu and it was large and outstanding. Have eaten at many Perkos over the years and I've never been disappointed. Had brunch today at Perko's we always enjoy coming here. Service is good. The timeframe is reasonable. They were a little bit busy today. Service was really nice. The environment was very friendly and welcoming. If you're not in a rush and you got time definitely stop by order some food the French dip with some sweet potato fries and those sweet potato fries are a must food is definitely good good reasonably pricing in today's economy and definitely will be coming back again thank you to every staff members. I did leave a $17 tip on a $50 bill. Hopefully the staff ever gets it. read more

We've loved this little diner for many years and have no complaints. My husband's favorite is Sarah's Old Fashioned Ham, a full pound of bone-in ham. He ordered this today with a side of pancakes and had lots of leftovers to go. I had the Patty Melt and fries and also came home with leftovers. I'm giving this 3 stars, however, I might not come back based on my last visit. I placed a phone order based off of the online menu. My food was around 8 dollars MORE than the menu. I asked when I paid and was pretty much ignored. Shake went from 4.99 to 7.99 and when I questioned it the response I got was.... yeah, we should fix that. I said to them, if I knew the price was that high I wouldn't have ordered it. Perko's Cafe is home. Every time I visit family in California, my husband and I eat at Perko's for breakfast before we take the nine hour drive back home. With three locations in Modesto and 1 in nearby Riverbank, Perko's was a familiar sight growing up. Yes, Perko's is a chain, but it's exclusive to Northern California. It's a solid breakfast spot that kindles a strong sense of nostalgia for me. TWO EGG BREAKFAST ($6.95): Also comes with your choice of toast, pancakes, or a blueberry muffin AND hash browns or country potatoes. I always get then blueberry muffin because it is just out of this world. It's piping hot, fresh, and oh so soft. The accompanying butter cubes spread over this with ease. Eggs and hash browns were standard and the only hot sauce available is Tabasco. SERVICE: Always friendly and especially quick to get refills. VIBE: Old-fashioned cafe with a large attendance of old folks, even on a Tuesday! Perko's was nearly full by 9AM. They also have a Dryer's ice cream counter inside. Worth a Return Visit? Table I was given wasn't clean also the food looked old like it was made the day before, also the taste was nasty oily and no salt or flavor at all sorry never again. This particular location is so heartwarming. Due to its proximity to a senior mobile home park, there are a lot of 'regulars'. Over the years I've seen servers come & go. However, every server I've ever observed has had very obvious relationships with the regulars. Tonight I witnessed an act beyond the call off duty. The server was Emily (I know this because the woman called her by name). A couple had dined. When the gentleman tried to rise from his seat he had difficulty. Emily rushed over and assisted him. She then helped him with his outerwear, hat & cane. This was nothing unusual, as evidenced by the couple's comfort with the situation. read more
