Gotta say you can't go wrong with chicken fried steak and theirs was pretty good. 5 stars Wife decided to go with the Banana foster French toast that included 3 eggs, chose bacon as the side and had 2 fried green tomatoes. I think that was her first time trying the fried green tomatoes in any place and she enjoyed it. She even said for the French toast that it was good and would order it again. 5 stars. Service- always great here and have to give a shout out to our waitress Ingrid who always had a smile on her face. Checked on us often if we needed refills. The breading was crispy and slightly crunchy, the chicken was flavorful and juicy - it was the highlight of the whole dish. I will probably order the 1/2 lb Chicken Fried Steak next time around. The Mardi Gras Beignets were so good! The beignets were pillowy-soft, light and airy on the inside, with a crispy, golden-brown exterior, generously dusted with powdered sugar. The picture doesn't do them justice, the bottom center of the dish had vanilla cream filling and the cream was surrounded by strawberries, huckleberries, and peach fruit toppings. So good! Love this place! I'm not usually a morning or breakfast person, but every now and then I take my wife out for breakfast, and we've never had any issues with the food or service. The staff has always been friendly every time we visit. It can get a bit busy during peak breakfast hours, so I recommend going a little earlier or later than usual. read more

When our waitress finally took our drink order (two diet cokes), she forgot to bring them to us until I asked a good 10-minutes later. And it wasn't even busy inside the restaurant. I noticed all of the waitresses were just standing at the pass waiting for food. Which I thought would mean we would get our food piping hot. Nope. It took a good 25-minutes until we finally received our food. The food: cold. I ordered an egg white omelette with ham and a dry English Muffin. My egg white omelette was prepared how I asked, but the edges were cold and the center was just warm. The taste was good. Would have been better if it was hot I'm sure. The portion was pretty small too. My boyfriend got the pumpkin spice pancake platter. The hash browns were still raw. There was nothing brown or crispy about them. The egg was good but the bacon tasted like it was made earlier and reheated. Now the pumpkin pancakes. You needed a knife to cut the pancakes in order to eat them!! They were super rubbery. The only thing I can think is that they were made earlier and reheated in the microwave? So disappointed in this place and will not be returning. I opted for fresh fruit instead of potatoes, and they were picture perfect. I went to Huckleberries Restaurant in Modesto, CA this morning and ordered my favorite breakfast, Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict is a simple combination of English Muffin, Canadian bacon, Poached eggs all topped by Hollandaise sauce. Huckleberries Modesto decided to add a few kinks to the lightly flavored, lightly textured, simple breakfast. On the English muffin was, instead of a thin slice of Canadian Bacon (which contributes to subtile flavor), Huckleberries puts a half-inch thick slab of fried ham which takes away all the grace of traditional Eggs Benedict. Next came the poached eggs. They were perfect. And, on top of it all, smothering the dish was Huckleberries version of Hollandaise Sauce. Now, Hollandaise is simple but tricky. It is normally comprised of Beaten Egg Yoke, Butter, salt, white pepper and a hint of lemon juice. There are ways that restaurants can use prepackaged mixes of Hollandaise Sauce for the sake of efficiency. Huckleberries uses something that tastes like they use margarine instead of butter and perhaps a mystery ingredient to replace the egg yokes. I had to ask for a wedge of lemon to flavor the sauce. The hash browns were underdone--by a long shot. All in all, I lost. But NO HUCKLEBERRIES RESTAURANT will ever get my business again. read more

Huckleberry's on Yosemite Blvd is my favorite Huckleberry's in Modesto. Service is excellent. Food is consistently delicious. Love their hot biscuits and gravy with bacon. Full of blue bayou atmosphere. This restaurant does a lot of busy so it is imperative that the restrooms are checked every hour to keep paper off the floor. Toilets flushed etc because a restaurant is no cleaner than the bathroom. Huckleberries keeps a pretty clean bathroom but because of the volume of business, the restrooms could use more consistent attention throughout the day. I still give this Huckleberry's 5 Stars. read more
