okay so, I was looking at some matching necklaces. I pick one out and when I head to the line there's like 3 emo people and ONE OPEN register--I'm waiting for them to finish up when the other register opens. I walk over but the two emo people near the second register are still there, and I'm too awkward to ask them to move. Eventually (10 secs later) the two move and I come to the 2nd register (the lady at the second register had her black hair in a bun, her bangs / front pieces were yellow and orange and she had a few face piercings.) she tells me "does anyone ever say hi to you are you just so unapproachable?" (Since we were silent for a bit) I'm a bit speechless so I ignore it and just put the necklaces down, she says "oop-" as if it's annoying that she's scanning my stuff. read more

Hot Topic is one of my favorite stores ever! What can I say? I'm still an early-2000s emo kid at heart. They carry a wide array of clothing and accessories, featuring everything from band merchandise to TV, film, and cartoon memorabilia. Fandom-wise, you name it and they probably have it. Shout out to the amazing new line of Twin Peaks themed T-shirts and accessories to celebrate the Showtime reboot that came out this summer! With regards to the location at the South Shore Plaza, this is one of the best Hot Topics that I've ever been to. Not only do they have a well-stocked inventory, but also the employees here are friendly and so helpful! I was looking for a Twin Peaks tank top that I saw all the way back in May, and finally got a chance to go back and buy it. One of the managers (a girl with black hair, I didn't get her name) was kind enough to search through the racks and find the last one in the store, which happened to be in my size. I think I cried with joy! I really appreciated the level of customer service, and will definitely be back again! read more

Me and my husband went to Hot Topic since we are big anime fans and Hot Topic carries a lot of anime merch. I saw an Attack on Titon hoodie, but it was a teal color instead of the hunter green like in the anime. Tim, one of the sales associates found one in the darker green and in a plus size online. He told us that everything in the store was 30% off and that they could also price match the hoodie from online. He left before I paid for my purchase. When I went to order the hoodie online with another sales associate he said that they do not price match. I was going to pass on the hoodie, but the guy had already rang me up and I had paid for the purchase. I didn't notice the price difference until I got the receipt. I figured since I already paid and I did want the hoodie then I would just keep it. I waited nearly two weeks for my hoodie to ship to the store. I never received an email telling me that it has been received at the mall or got a call from Hot Topic themselves. I had to call customer service and ask about where my package was. They called the store themselves and found out they had received the hoodie awhile ago. I went and picked it up. It fit perfectly and was the dark green that I wanted. I'll probably return to the store, but I'll make sure to triple check the price and have my items shipped to my house instead of to the store. read more

Being a collector, HT is a go to and I've been to many. This store is hands down the best. Met so many great HT staff over the years. Lynne and Rae make you feel like fam. I mostly go for tanks and tees and of course Pops! They take care of the sections and pops really well and are always active on IG. So what if I am 32 years old and shop at Hot Topic. DON'T JUDGE ME!! Anyway this is my favorite one, big enough not to get knocked over by the pre-teens and their moms. Good selection and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Stores like this you usually get a staff that is on top of you the whole time or not to be seen. Here they ask once if they can help you then leave you alone but are right there if you need something, I like this. So even if I am too old to shop here I will continue to, since I am a rebel and don't play by your rules. Plus you should see how totally cute my AFI sweatpants are. read more

This is my favorite Hot Topic store as well. They are bigger than other ones I have been too and seem to have more stuff, or at least more sizes of the stuff. The high school staff is also less snotty than other shops. There are not too many places to get these kinds of clothes, and I'd rather try stuff on and see it in person than order it online and ruin the environment with shipping fuels and packages. cool punk, goth, indy, skater stuff on the cheap! read more

Always looking for clothing that fit in my style. At first glance you might think that, the store only offers punk style clothing. But you were wrong. There are many things being offered here, very nice design t-shirts, band merchandise, a lot of accessories. I bought many t-shirts here and find myself coming back for more. And the people there, are very friendly and helpful. My friend , he tried 3 t-shirts but one at a time!! So the sale person had to reopen the fitting rm for 3 TIMES, but I didn't see she was unhappy about that. So cool!! Go see their website to see if they offer something you like. Now this being my first review, naturally it's gonna suck a bit, so let it be. First off, I'd like to clarify for those who've gotten wind of HT only by its reputation as some kind of "goth" store, I can tell you right now, it's nothing of the sort. Sure, they've got stuff that appeals to goths, but what doesn't? Hell, even Home Depot has some tools that even I, who is not so handy at all in the field of carpentry, found kinda fun looking. The point is, HT isn't some "goth" store. It's got stuff for your "emo" kid, your "scene" kid, your hip-hopper, your punk rocker, your classic rocker, and last, but certainly not least, yours truly, the metalhead. A great selection of band shirts, hoodies, random semi-fashionable pants/skirts, shoes, etc. It has the air of an alternative store due to the music that usually plays in store, mostly punk, indie, or even some "underground" pop stuff. Stick around and they'll eventually play something you dig. All-in-all, this is a great store no matter what you're interested in. You'll almost certainly find a nice wacky novelty shirt if that's your thing, or a nice gruesome shirt of a band you're into. Anything you need, they've got. Just be careful not to sneer at the things you dislike... there'll be lots of that too. read more

I am admittedly one of those people who go in just to chit chat, but theyre also helpful with my body jewelry needs :) they also always compliment my choices on what I'm purchasing, not because they have to, but because theyre just wicked friendly. read more

My review is for the manager not the store. I will never be returning because of her. Went into hot topic tonight to return some shirts I bought for my boyfriend, they didn't fit well and he wasn't that crazy about what I had chosen. I had misplaced the receipt so I figured it'd be ok to just get store credit and then have him pick out whatever he wanted, not the case. The MANAGER (not even a sales associate it was the damn manager) short stout troll like goth who apparently will treat you like garbage if you come in without a receipt looking for merchandise credit. As soon as I said I didn't have the receipt her entire attitude changed, she then told me I couldn't get the credit on a gift card.. I stood there for a few seconds and she didn't speak, I felt like I was on another planet. The woman behind me had to explain to her I wanted the money I SPENT as merchandise credit. The MANAGER the replies "I guess" and turns around acting live I've done something wrong. She then told me that nobody but the persons name who is doing the return can use the merchandise credit (which is a complete lie, little does troll manager know that one of my best friends is a manager at a different hot topic) I immediately call him when I leave the store and he says that's complete bullshit, just a lazy pissed off manager during holiday season crying about having to do a return and not make today's goal. I've worked in customer service the majority of my adult life and I have NEVER been treated so poorly in any store by any person more than I did tonight by Rae the manager at the south shore Braintree hot topic. I'll never give this store location my money again, I'd rather make the drive to further stores to avoid a rude staff. Already contacting the DM and corporate. read more
